    Giant Body Exercises

Our bodies are a central focus for our experiences as human beings. Therefore,
it is important to carefully examine what typically makes up our conception of
a body--for the word 'typical' is taken for granted all too often. The following
exercise (page 21) can help reverse the tendency to make things familiar, a
tendency which actually blinds us to many of the fuller and richer qualities of
our experience. This exercise is especially valuable for attaining a heightened
appreciation of our bodies. A fresh perspective, grounded in 'felt reality', thus
may emerge from a kind of experiential review and challenge of our usual
    preconceptions.

Session here: 2016.01.28 13:00 - TSK Session: Giant Body, Imagination and Knowing

The Giant Body exercises are the first presented in TSK. They are presented in steps or stages, and important for making the ideas presented experiential. This is especially helpful leading into the next session, The Body and Human Embodiment.

    For this coming week:
Continue reading Chapter 2 - The Body and Human Embodiment, and working with the Giant Body exercise(s) throughout the chapter. Officially, we are beginning with exercise 6, however everyone should move at their own pace and not hurry.

an interesting interview with Andy Clark, Professor of Logic and Metaphysics in the School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences, at Edinburgh University in Scotland:

he talks about imagination and perception in a way that is perhaps clearer than what I was trying to say in our session, right about 20 minutes into the interview.

the whole interview is very interesting.
