Adams, Eden and Riddle on Monday morning

    Earth Colors

    Eden Haiku: Hola Riddle :)
    Riddle Sideways: Hola Eden ㋡
    Riddle Sideways: anything new?
Riddle Sideways: Here, the big thing is the Time Change
Eden Haiku: Noticing I'm wearing TWO pair of shoes at the same time :(
    Riddle Sideways: nice
Eden Haiku: Ah yes, Time Change: brighter mornings but darker afternoons ...
Riddle Sideways: Face cat did not get the memo and did the wakey uppy routine
    Riddle Sideways: at 4:45
    Eden Haiku: ah cats :)
Riddle Sideways: drove home around 6pm and it was dark already
Eden Haiku: How is the fire situation in your area?
Eden Haiku: Still far away I hope
Riddle Sideways: this area is ok
Riddle Sideways: yes, many hours away
Riddle Sideways: lots of newspaper photos and stories
    Eden Haiku: Devastating fires...
Riddle Sideways: yep, fires use to stay in the forests
Riddle Sideways:then Man built cities in the forests
    Riddle Sideways:so cities burn
Riddle Sideways: hard to get that funny photo out of head, with caption "This is Not a deer crossing the road, it is a road crossing the forest"
Riddle Sideways: ouch, hi leaping Adams
Eden Haiku: hello Adams in black and white :)
Adams Rubble: Hello Eden in real black and white :)
Riddle Sideways: a bit more brownish
    Adams Rubble: hello Riddle :)
Eden Haiku: Who are you this morning, a quaker woman?
Eden Haiku: Ah yes, it's brown now...
Adams Rubble: not thinking Quaker but somewhat along those lines :)
    Eden Haiku: smiles
Riddle Sideways: couple years ago went to a big gathering that had many Amish clans there.
Riddle Sideways: the slight differences in colors and style
    Riddle Sideways: showed
    Adams Rubble:the Mennonites wear gray
Riddle Sideways: from deep purple, brown, dark grey, black, deep blue
    Eden Haiku: Earth colors mostly...
Eden Haiku: Are you researching a new historic period Adams?

    --BELL--

Adams seeking her ancestors and Eden’s 10th PaB anniversary: two threads

Adams Rubble: still much work to do on the Medieval Spanish but a weekend ago took trip to research center to look for my great great great great grandmother
Adams Rubble: she was not the one I thought she was
Adams Rubble: butI may have found a great great great great great grandmother :)
Eden Haiku: Oh! What did you discover?
Adams Rubble: they did not make it easy to find granmothers, those nasty patriarchal record keepers
Riddle Sideways: (last week log makes a bit more sense now)
Adams Rubble: getting DNA suggestions on a different line of the family
Riddle Sideways: problem with letting patriarchs write the histories
Eden Haiku: Sorry to say I haven't read logs for a while and I'm late in posting also...seems time is shrinking at a fast pace.
    Adams Rubble: yes, it is
Riddle Sideways:Time hit a speed bump this weekend
    Adams Rubble: yaaay
Eden Haiku:Two days ago, it was the 10th anniversary of my first PaB meeting: on November 2, the Day of the Dead.
Riddle Sideways: how does one get DNA samples or data from 6 generations ago
Eden Haiku: also wondering about that?
    Riddle Sideways: oh Wow, Eden
    Adams Rubble: congratulations Eden!
    Eden Haiku: Thank you.
Riddle Sideways: you were only 2 weeks old
Riddle Sideways:have never heard how you found PaB
Adams Rubble: to answer your question, you first must seek out likely ancestors from the various sources such as land records, census, tax records, other people's family trees, etc.
Eden Haiku: No, a few months old I think. I came into Second Life during a rainy summer
Adams Rubble: then you check them against your DNA hits which depends on other people knowing their family histories
Adams Rubble:two threads, listening to Eden while writing
Riddle Sideways: can follow 2 threads ㋡
    Riddle Sideways: interested in both
    Adams Rubble: PaB training :)
    Riddle Sideways: yes ㋡
Eden Haiku: Told my PaB story so many times :)
Adams Rubble: well that's basically how it happens--is more difficult the further you are back
Eden Haiku: So you had your DNA analyzed first Adams?
Adams Rubble: I get numerous hits way back on one of my families--my mother's father's family
Adams Rubble:was researching long before DNA tests were feasible
    Eden Haiku: oh!
Adams Rubble:but have been slowly working down my maternal line
    Adams Rubble: hard slogging :)
Adams Rubble: My mother and I worked while she was alive
Eden Haiku: I know up to great grand-parents on both sides, that's all.
Adams Rubble: her mother was an orphan and we were able to find out about her mother's early life and parentage
    Eden Haiku: wow!
Adams Rubble: together we found my great great grandmother
Adams Rubble: recently a death notice of her brother listed his mothers maiden name
Adams Rubble: that was the clue that set off the latest research
Adams Rubble: is a very large family with nine male possibilities as father
Adams Rubble: well more counting their sons
Adams Rubble: and it is a missing son I am now trying to find
Adams Rubble: I need to go to a different history center. It took me three years to get to the one I visited last week. hehe

    --BELL--

Eden Haiku: a missing son, one wonders what happened to him ?
Adams Rubble:the ancestors just sit there and do not go away so patience is possible
Adams Rubble: they are not the ones WHO are impatient :)
    Riddle Sideways: ha
Adams Rubble: does that make sense
    Eden Haiku: hehe
Riddle Sideways: 3 years is not impatient
Riddle Sideways:these are History Centers? instead of Libraries?
    Riddle Sideways: interesting
Adams Rubble: country repositories so both
Riddle Sideways: 20+ years ago dr. Rosen(?) would setup a number of tables at the Food Festival piled with genealogy books and books
Riddle Sideways: a couple years later, he wanted electricity for a Computer he started using
    Adams Rubble: :)
Riddle Sideways: a couple years later, he wanted an Internet connection
    Adams Rubble: :)
Riddle Sideways: he would sit and talk with visitors about their ancient families
Adams Rubble: new records come online all the time so patience pays off
Adams Rubble: still need to go back to a repository occasionally
Riddle Sideways: not sure where he is now...the last couple years nobody stopped at his table. they can look it up themselves
    Adams Rubble: :)

    A big announcement

    Nov 4th_003.jpeg

Eden Haiku: I have a big announcement to make

Eden Haiku: I have a big announcement to make. I don't know exactly how to do it. I know you two have been very faithful to this Monday morning session for years now and I'm deeply grateful for these conversations and fun time. But I feel it's time for me to move on. I'm going to let go of hosting this Monday morning session. Sorry to break Adams thread with this :(
    Adams Rubble: ohhhh :(
    Riddle Sideways: ohhhhh :(
Eden Haiku: Yes, I have been thinking about it for a while...
Adams Rubble: I have enjoyed your sessions Eden
Eden Haiku: Sorry it sounds so radical.
Riddle Sideways: yes, have enjoyed the company
Adams Rubble: I respect your decision
Eden Haiku: Yes, me too, I enjoyed your company very much. It's just that Monday mornings are taking too much of my time...
Adams Rubble: I am sure it was hard to make
Eden Haiku: Very hard yes :(
Eden Haiku: But I rather announce it during the session, to the two of you who are regulars here :)
    Adams Rubble: thank you
    Riddle Sideways: thank you
Eden Haiku: I will also let go of a seminar I'm attending on Wednesdays.
Eden Haiku: I have to clear up my time in order to finish my novel.
Adams Rubble: sometimes we need to shake up our schedules
Eden Haiku: I will visit your Tuesday sessions once in a while Riddle. And Adams, do you still have your Thursdays morning?
    Riddle Sideways: yes
Adams Rubble: yes I do. Riddle remembers better than I do :)
Riddle Sideways: ummm, why will one get up Mondays?
Eden Haiku: Oh good. So we will keep in touch :)
Adams Rubble: a loooong weekend sleep
Eden Haiku: I used to love Monday mornings but life is interfering a bit too much these days :)

    Halloween

Eden Haiku: Did you celebrate Halloween with the little one Adams?

    --BELL--

Adams Rubble: they stopped by to visit us
    Eden Haiku: Nice :)
Eden Haiku: We also greeted lots of unicorns, princesses and vampires at our door.
Riddle Sideways: ah, a little one finding a day when people give candies
Eden Haiku: Yes, Riddle, the two years old ! Their amazement! it’s priceless!
Riddle Sideways: good that the good ol' classics still are worn
Eden Haiku: I have the feeling I have dropped a bomb. I'm so sorry. I really didn't know how to do it otherwise...
Adams Rubble: It takes dedication to host
Riddle Sideways: well, took it like a bomb, but there was no other way to tell
Adams Rubble: I gave it up for a long time myself
Adams Rubble: there are only three people who have hosted continuously since the beginning of time :)
    Adams Rubble:Riddle, Stevenaia and Wol
Eden Haiku: I'm feeling the ripples in my heart, the sadness...
    Riddle Sideways: oh dear
    Adams Rubble: They are amazing
Riddle Sideways: just like following a rut
    Eden Haiku: Yes, they are!
Adams Rubble: yes, I resigned one of my commissions this fall because of the stress and two days later I recanted because I began to miss the people :)
Eden Haiku: I stopped hosting from 2011 to maybe 2015 or 2016...
Adams Rubble: now the stress has gotten worse and I don’t feel i can resign after recanting :)
Eden Haiku: oh wow Adams, that must feel difficult...
Adams Rubble: one does what they can
Riddle Sideways: opposite side of that here, need more get off butt and do more

    --BELL--

Adams Rubble: we will miss you and miss reading your sessions
Riddle Sideways: you can become one of the readers ㋡
Adams Rubble is kicking herself for not dressing up today
Riddle Sideways: only takes a quarter or less to read an hour
Adams Rubble: yes, you will have time to read and comment
Eden Haiku: I will continue my dance, moving on to other adventures, dancing again with you once in a while on Tuesdays and Thursdays
Eden Haiku:reading the logs yes :)
Eden Haiku: visiting the exhibits, attending guardians meetings

Eden Haiku: But there were so many sessions back then...
Adams Rubble: I used to do Sunday mornings

Eden Haiku: Yes, I remember that Adams, right before the Sunday Guardian meeting :)
Adams Rubble: yes, got big crowds until they moved the guardian meetings :)
    Riddle Sideways: ㋡
    Eden Haiku: Yes....
Riddle Sideways: Riddle did not create that tessaract, found it while exploring and presented photos
Riddle Sideways: am halfway through building one now
Eden Haiku: ah! But it was still great fun Riddle!
Eden Haiku: Oh! Let us know by email when it's available for visiting!
Riddle Sideways: will do, it is 6th on the list of priority builds for SL. Should be done in 10-20 years
    Adams Rubble: WHO is impatient
Eden Haiku: Trying to be cheerful, but there is a heavy stone in my heart...Riddle makes me smile again though, hopeful of still being here in 20 years for a tessaract :)
