Adams Rubble: the author served in WW2 after being in internment camps
Adams Rubble: the novel was mostly unknown and unloved until found in the the 1980s
Adams Rubble: when the US givernemnt relized it had made a mistake with the internment camps and was looking for a way out it asked every army age male two questions
Adams Rubble: would you serve in the USarmy and 2) would you swear allegiance to the US
Adams Rubble: those who answered no to both questions were put in prision
Adams Rubble: there were many reasons to answer no after being in the internment camps for 2 years
Adams Rubble: some wanted their famies released if they served
Adams Rubble: in any case those who went to prison were released after the war and were ostracized by all, especially the Japanese who did serve
Adams Rubble: the book explores so many thngs mostly a group under immense pressure and change
Adams Rubble: much of it, the generations not understanding each other
Adams Rubble: it is a very moving book
Adams Rubble: takes place mostly in Seattle
Adams Rubble: people trying to be American when people see them as Japanese
Riddle Sideways: hmmm tough subject
Adams Rubble: younger people more American; older people more ties to japan
Adams Rubble: some of it reminded me of the Beat writers

Riddle Sideways: if that exhibit sort of missed getting it across? what does that say of other exhibits?
Riddle Sideways: of course any is better than not going or having any exhibit/education at all
Adams Rubble: every exhibit has human being(s) behind it
Riddle Sideways: darn humans
Adams Rubble: some work very hard on exhibitions and get them half done
Riddle Sideways: wait, wait, no personal interjections here :)
Riddle Sideways: Stayed with some long ago friends
Riddle Sideways: caught up on their lives
Riddle Sideways: have stayed there before, but not connected as well
Riddle Sideways: got down to some very thoughtful stuff
Riddle Sideways: has been a Juvenal judge for many years
Riddle Sideways: nearing retirement
Riddle Sideways: and has so many examples of how a strict written exact law and punishment system can be swayed by a judge
Riddle Sideways: that a judge has Feelings about what is going on
Riddle Sideways: and adjusts the rulings
Riddle Sideways: also many opinions on current reform ideas
Riddle Sideways: how many adolescents just don't have the frontal lobe developed enough
Riddle Sideways: to even start thinking of how their actions are hurting others
Riddle Sideways: others that just got caught up in the wrong place and actions
--BELL--
Riddle Sideways: not quite the kind that need to have their lives ruined by being locked away
Adams Rubble: or with the wrong sklin color
Riddle Sideways: yes, she did talk of the dis-appropriate ratios of skin color to population
