Depricated = is a nice word for we are soon going to make your getting old software start to rot.
Rubble: Good morning Riddle :)
Riddle: Good Morning Adams
Riddle: hope you are fine this morning
Adams Rubble: Pema Chodron led me to an interesting place last night
Riddle: /listens
Adams Rubble: She has been been encouraging me to keep hold of the things that are making me uncomfortable until I see them for what they were
Adams Rubble: I have been having a little difficulty understanding what she meant
Adams Rubble: but in my reading last night she recommended some practices
Adams Rubble: one of them was tonglen
Adams Rubble: as I read about what she meant by tonglen I began to understand what she was saying
Adams Rubble: Hello Qt
Qt Core: Hi all
Riddle: hello QT
Adams Rubble: I am talking about some readings I have been doing in Pema Chodron
Riddle: great to see you
Adams Rubble: she had been talking about reaching out beyond to suffering
Adams Rubble: the whole world is suffering right now with the pandemic
Adams Rubble: so I did a very large tonglen in which I was breathing in all the suffering and breathing out love
Adams Rubble: nice to se you Qt
Adams Rubble's PaB Listener: Sorry, an unexpected Internet error occurred: 503
Qt Core: and still the sun is shining outside: hope or just indifference by nature ?
Riddle: a practice All should do
Adams Rubble: indifference :)
Adams Rubble: the human species is going to come out just fine
Adams Rubble: it is only we individuals who may not survive
Qt Core: and even if now it will not be such a great loss for nature, maybe even a gain
Qt Core: now=not
Riddle: less population could be a great gain to nature
Adams Rubble: of course if it creates more international strife as some of our leaders are trying to do, the result might be different
Qt Core: every time a crisis of some kind starts i try to remember if it was in one of the scenario tested by the supercomputer in wargames... ;-)
Qt Core: (the movie i mean)
Adams Rubble: yikes
Riddle: wasn't the computer's name WHOPPR
Qt Core: technically yes, but called Joshua by its creator, like hs dead son
Riddle: *WOPR
Riddle: the world was saved by it playing Tic-Tac-Toe
Riddle: it decided War was Pointless
Adams Rubble now understands what that tic tac toe reference meant in FB
Riddle: now don't understand that reference
Riddle: back to Tonglen
Riddle: breath in a pandemic
Riddle: breath out Love
PaB Bell: 90 second pause. Please be silent in mindfulness.
PaB Bell: Thank you. Please continue to be mindful.
Qt Core: do that translate in kind response to angry people you meet nowadays in most forums/local fb pages and such ?
Adams Rubble: I try not to respond to those but it could
Riddle: yes, don't even respond
Adams Rubble: we have an angry person in the white house
Riddle: he is now smarter than doctors and has found a drug to take
Adams Rubble: sigh
Riddle: take in his remarks. breath out laughter
Bruce (bruce.mowbray) is offline.
Riddle Sideways's PaB Listener: Sorry, the PaB webserver is not responding. Error 499
Qt Core: who is smarter than him ? double sigh
Adams Rubble's PaB Listener: Sorry, an unexpected Internet error occurred: 503
Riddle: Smiles
Adams Rubble: I have been successfully limiting my time reading the news
Riddle: good practice Adams
Riddle: the Listener's server is taken down
Riddle: and the log shall not be saving
Adams Rubble: do you know how to save it Riddle?
Adams Rubble: I should say remember not know
Riddle: yes, I remember the old manual method
Adams Rubble: My computer no longer records chat; I can't find how to do that now
Riddle: (preferences->Network & Files->Directories
Riddle: or just remember to copy this chat box before logout
Riddle: and still have the text editor Notepad++ with macros to remove timestamps and pretty print it
Qt Core: nice
Adams Rubble: yaay Riddle :)
Riddle: use to be quite fast at logs
Riddle: now appreciate the presence of a Listener-auto logger
PaB Bell: 90 second pause. Please be silent in mindfulness.
PaB Bell: Thank you. Please continue to be mindful.
Riddle: the usual make dinner radio show (on NPR) got bumped for a special program
Riddle: having experts answering call-in questoins
Riddle: about all things Pandemic
Qt Core: most radio here has remodelled most of their schedule for this
Riddle: e.g how long do these virus' live on cardboard, postcards?
Adams Rubble asks how long?
Riddle: Will Small businesses also get bail outs?
Adams Rubble: not if Trump gets his way--only big businesses
Adams Rubble: I guess we will have to tell Wol about the listener
Qt Core: here the most asked questions ar about the movement rules, ie, can i go shop to the nearest shop or should i really shop only inside my municipality ?
Riddle: Albert/Boxy/A great pirate already knew about the OS vs Wiki issues
Riddle: yes, lots of where can I go questions
Riddle: most answers were about being safe and not infecting others
Adams Rubble: when can I read my mail?
Qt Core: the saddest part is that if we forget about shopping once a week or less... and not every couple days this quarantine thing is almost as i would spend my vacations in regular times ;-)
Riddle: if you HAVE to go shopping, do some extra shopping for neighbors, shut-ins, at-risk ppl
Riddle: there was somebody asking about the mail. Stated he puts it in a bag and reads it days later
Riddle: I watched the mail deliverer person wearing plastic gloves yesterday
Riddle: don't think the Bed,Bath and Beyond catalog is even touched by humans
Qt Core: funny enough i had to ask someone already going to do some shipping for wine, i don't drink it but i cook with it (and often don't notice when it ends)
Riddle: Almost oppisite here, QT. on vacation trips we often shop different little shops every day
Riddle: at home go to big store once a week. maybe little shop in between
Qt Core: once a week or rarely now, on vacation i use it too as an obligation to go out
PaB Bell: 90 second pause. Please be silent in mindfulness.
PaB Bell: Thank you. Please continue to be mindful.
Qt Core: more often
Qt Core: bug pro of this quarantine thing... reducing the sleep debt (that is if you not get into a paranoia state of mind)
Qt Core: (i'm coming in sl way less and that os showing quite a lot in my spelling errors...)
Adams Rubble: no worries about spelling :)
Riddle: there is a website here for local people to post news, questions, answers. Lately it has been a lot of 1.Young people saying they will shop for people. 2.Religious people offering compassion, community, virtual services
Adams Rubble: I find that is more due to different keyboards
Riddle: speelting is optional
Adams Rubble: smelting requires a furnace though
Adams Rubble: I hear so many people are having trouble sleeping
Qt Core: speaking of keyboard... i toke home a work laprop to do some smartworking... had to buy an us layout external keyboard in less than a couple days or that italian keyboard laptop would have be thrown outside the window ;-)
Riddle: AH! "Defenestration"
Riddle: love that word
Adams Rubble: :)
Qt Core: italian layout make programming very uncomfortable, hadn't used an italian keyboard on my work and home computers in decades
Qt Core: had to buy anotehr hone as the ones i have at home had no usb connectors
Adams Rubble: what is the difference? fewer letters?
Qt Core: where us ones have the []{} we have the accented letters
Qt Core: then some other (unexplainable differences in ;:., positioning
Adams Rubble: hmm. did not know that
Qt Core: but the parenthesis thing is the worst, yes, with some ctrl/alt/shift combo we can usually get them, but ouch
Riddle: yes, would be hard to program with []{}
Adams Rubble: defenestration
Qt Core: and no sane way to get `~
Riddle: there would go Linux usability
PaB Bell: 90 second pause. Please be silent in mindfulness.
PaB Bell: Thank you. Please continue to be mindful.
Qt Core: exactly
Qt Core: i need those so much that i have no issue passing as an illiterate while writing in italian as i end up using the apostrophe as the accent and not the accented letters
Riddle: yesterday, was at some public place in SL. one person said they were going crazy and SL helped. Everybody can stand right next to each other in a crowd. Then somebody asks if anybody had a Hug AO
Qt Core: i'm surely coming in sl a little more lately and noticed an increase in traffic and new people
Adams Rubble: ooooh good
Adams Rubble: so glad you could come today Qt
Riddle: yes!
Qt Core: come here yesterday to check the times (and i even remembered you are already in dst ;-)
Qt Core: this weekend for us
Riddle: how, that is hard to remember
Adams Rubble: we will be here Thursday
Adams Rubble: same time
Qt Core: as of next year every eu country will be free to decide if going dst or not or if staying in dst all year long, it will be a mess
Riddle: oh great another mess
Adams Rubble: it's so good we have leaders who can see the big picture :)
Qt Core: thinking about every gadget that has no connections and a fixed set of rules to do the change...
Adams Rubble: I must go. Please stay safe and in good spirits
Riddle: ;}
Qt Core: you too Adams!
Qt Core: bye
Adams Rubble: bye for now :)
Riddle: have your great day, Adams
Adams Rubble is offline.
Riddle: the keyboard on new laptop is just a bit smaller and is missing the little bump on the J and F
Riddle: makes for lots of typos in the dark
Qt Core: never really learned to touch type, even if i did had lessons at school about that, but it was about typewriters not computers and i was not really thinking that would eb of any use to me, if i really get in the zone i can type without looking
Riddle: do you translate all of our sentences to Italian or is your english good enough?
Qt Core: good enough, sometimes i bump in an italian word/concept and i need to go to google translator
PaB Bell: 90 second pause. Please be silent in mindfulness.
PaB Bell: Thank you. Please continue to be mindful.
Qt Core: sometimes i don;t notice if i'm reading english or italian, more often if it is technical stuff
Qt Core: and i had even a couple dreams in english some years ago ;-)
Riddle: wow
Riddle: in some dreams other people are talking in some other languages ?
Riddle: Some dreams are in SL, but never notice typos ?
Qt Core: the funny thing is that at school i disliked english classes quite a lot and i was always a notch lower than the passing grade ;-)
Riddle: funny
Qt Core: but when you go the "the pen is on the table" or "do write a commercial letter stating why the shipment is late"... booring
Qt Core: the pen (or book) is on the table is the classic first sentence when learning english, at last here ;-)
Riddle: need to learn phrases like "Where is the bathroom?" instead
Qt Core: maybe it got better in past decades and that's is only a meme now
Riddle: maybe
Riddle: will need to check the Babble programs
Riddle: well, need to get to doing whatever this day has
Qt Core: oh yes, so much things to do... so much free time... so little accomplished (for me)
Riddle: made soup yesterday. might make bread to go with it
Riddle: ha, so little accomplished here too
Qt Core: i love to cook, but try not to do it so much or i will use too many supplies
Qt Core: ok, have fun and stay safe Riddle
Riddle: have fun and stay safe QT
