Riddle Sideways: Good Morning Adams ㋡
Riddle Sideways: How is Everything today?
Adams Rubble: Good morning Riddle :)
Adams Rubble: Sunny and chilly here. How is everything with you?
Riddle Sideways: Still too early to tell ㋡
Adams Rubble: :)
Riddle Sideways: yesterday Alexa said it was going to rain between 5am and 6am
Adams Rubble: I've been running around for a few hours
Adams Rubble: wow, precise
Riddle Sideways: and the world looks wet out there
Riddle Sideways: yes! how precise
Riddle Sideways: when did weather prediction get down to the hour?
Adams Rubble: I have been trying to take Buddha's advice and meditating on my senses, my sense objects and sense consciousness overnight
Adams Rubble: I have been concentrating on seeing
Adams Rubble: my first observation is that unless we look mindfully, there is so much we do not see
Adams Rubble: nothing profound, but it is always interesting when we directly experience something
Riddle Sideways: how long have you been doing this?
Adams Rubble: overnight. hehe
Adams Rubble: so basically this morning :)
Riddle Sideways: to rate the data precision
Riddle Sideways: sample size
Adams Rubble: did not see too much while sleeping
Adams Rubble: although the mind was doing its own seeing
Riddle Sideways: well there are two seeings
Riddle Sideways: or more
Riddle Sideways: all the things we see at night with the eyes closed
Adams Rubble: I was someplace trying to hang Christmas lights which involved digging holes to remove the old lights
Adams Rubble: eight people died putting up the lights.
Adams Rubble: someone had tied eight pigeons to eight flag poles and they had all died and were hanging down to the ground
Adams Rubble: waiting for the workmen to come and clean them up
Adams Rubble: just realized that there were two things of eight
Riddle Sideways: wondering about those 8's
Adams Rubble: hmmm. Eight years of plenty and eight years of famine?
Adams Rubble: nothing like a good Biblical reference
Adams Rubble: in any case we do miss seeing so much as we go about our business during the day
Riddle Sideways: yes
Adams Rubble: our mind sees what it wants to see
Riddle Sideways: hard to see things that the mind does not already understand
Adams Rubble: hmmm. yes
Adams Rubble: thinking about not seeing the things the mind does not understand
--BELL--
Adams Rubble: that is another reason to meditate on the senses
Adams Rubble: your statement is part of sense consciousness
Riddle Sideways: that was part of a very long ago learning that stuck
Adams Rubble: we see a sense object and the mind interprets
Riddle Sideways: too long a story
Adams Rubble: we've still have 45 minites :)
Riddle Sideways: but the point of the mind taking what is seen and fitting it to what it can understand
Adams Rubble: yes
Riddle Sideways: unless a teacher is standing in front of the class and introduces it as something you have never seen
Riddle Sideways: then you might be paying attention
Riddle Sideways: and learning
Riddle Sideways: if a something zips past out of the corner of an eye
Riddle Sideways: you probably will not see it
Riddle Sideways: well, the current glasses are an exception. they flash their edge and the head jerks sideways to see what is moving
Adams Rubble: :)
Adams Rubble: sometimes it just the glasses in my case :)
Riddle Sideways: back to meditating on senses
Riddle Sideways: the actual senses? or what the mind does with the taken in sense?
Adams Rubble: the Buddha suggest meditating on all eighteen
Adams Rubble: the senses, sense objects and sense consciousness
Adams Rubble: the 18 dhatu
Adams Rubble learned that in the Abhidharma
Adams Rubble: the mind both senses and interprets
Riddle Sideways: /saves the search results for later reading
Adams Rubble is happy to have something to meditate on
Adams Rubble: the breath is getting stale :)
--BELL--
Adams Rubble: wb Riddle :)
Adams Rubble: nothing happened while you were away
Riddle Sideways: back, seemed to have crashed
Riddle Sideways: oh, was a bout to ask
Adams Rubble: yes, less of an occrance than it used to be back in the day
Riddle Sideways: many times things happen when not really there
Adams Rubble: wb again
Riddle Sideways: well that is an issue
Adams Rubble: I just sent the first part of the log just in case
Riddle Sideways: thanks
Adams Rubble: I hope your environment stabilizes
Riddle Sideways: was looking for it when crashed
Adams Rubble: it took me a while to do. out of practice
Riddle Sideways: switched computers to see what this one senses
Adams Rubble: :)
Adams Rubble: sometimes the sense go kaput
Riddle Sideways: love that word Kaput
Riddle Sideways: when the senses go kaput
--BELL--
Riddle Sideways: /sits very still so as not to crash (again)
Adams Rubble: ::)
Adams Rubble: sometimes sitting quitely in paB is very nice
Riddle Sideways: funny how fast the senses zoom when ya try to pay attention
Adams Rubble: I have been slowing down during this time today
Adams Rubble: does not always happen at these sessions
Adams Rubble: the SL enviroment is impermanent but does not change as quickly as often as the enviroment in RL
Adams Rubble: people and feline beasts are moving around the house
Adams Rubble: birds are coming and going at the feeder ourside the window
Adams Rubble: the leaves are dancing in the breeze
Riddle Sideways: yes, can hear some body moving in the house
Adams Rubble: the way I have my camera the bunny is nodding its head at the bottom of my screen in SL
Riddle Sideways: had started reading you blog about clouds and thunder moving in, but closed it to use this computer
Adams Rubble: otherwise everything is static except for the pattern of the water
Riddle Sideways: and the lotus bubbling
Adams Rubble: oh, yes. that is not on my screen now
Adams Rubble: thank you bleu
Riddle Sideways: yet, there are 4 sun cycles in SL each RL day
Adams Rubble nods
Adams Rubble: I used to be in to witness that more :)
Adams Rubble: used to sit in conversations through day, sunset, night, sunroise and then more daylight and think wow
Riddle Sideways: the kitchen in the place we stayed in NY had windows pointing right at sunset
--BELL--
Riddle Sideways: which were spectacular at make dinner time
Adams Rubble: that's nice. The windows in my grandparents farm faced the sunsets
Adams Rubble: across the fields and a hill with the farm village at the top of the hill
Riddle Sideways: thanks for the senses talk. will try to learn more over the week
Riddle Sideways: watching the senses watch the mind watch the world
Adams Rubble: have a good week. bye Riddle :)
