Hi there! Aggers here (/me waves). Welcome to my first attempt at a monthly insight into the goings-on at that wonderful SL institution Play as Being. I don't really know what I am doing yet, or even if I am doing it right, so please bear with me and hopefully I'll learn as I go along. Anways, to business...
PaB can be a strange place: sometimes you can throw a party and no-one even turns up:
2010.06.07 01:00 - Zip
Much like John Cage's Four Minutes and Thirty-three Seconds of Silence; only without the music :). When the guardians do begin to congregate, however, the scenario becomes stranger yet. I mean...people looking for poppies underground????
2010.06.07 07:00 - Playing in the Underworld
Eden Haiku: Good morning Storm!
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Storm!
Storm Nordwind: Good morning all
Eliza Madrigal: Thanks for whatever you returned to me this morning, haha
Eliza Madrigal: I thought I took everything down :)
Storm Nordwind chuckles
Eden Haiku: Oh and yes, I have meant to ask you Storm, it seems I have poppies underground here. Are they still there?
Storm Nordwind can be ruthless
Eliza Madrigal: ruthless can be quite useful :)
Storm Nordwind: Yes they're all underground here
Eden Haiku: I tried to take them but could not go in the underworld.
Storm Nordwind: Two lots Eden
Eliza Madrigal smiles
Eden Haiku: How do I reach under the fountain please?
Storm Nordwind: You need to disable camera constraints to do that Eden
Eliza Madrigal looks for Persephone
'What did you do today dear?'
'Oh, I went underneath a fountain looking for poppies. As you do....'
What would Orpheus have made of it all?
'Bye for now folks, just popping down into the Underworld.'
'Ah, looking for Eurydice?'
'No, poppies.'
'.........????'
Quite.
An amazing girl, our Eden. Not only does she indulge in subterranean horticulture, but apparently also sleeps with a laptop...
Eden Haiku: http://bit.ly/cKoCzt . Link to the log I was talking about.
Storm Nordwind: It's rather difficult to navigate an uncommented log I often find
Eliza Madrigal: yes, a very long log, this one. Which part jumped out, Eden?
Eden Haiku: It is a very long one, I read it in bed as I woke up at dawn. She is talking about leading ghosts to the light, it felt natural as I was in a still hypnagogic state I guess...
What, before making breakfast, even?
Eden Haiku: Looking for the quote...
Eliza Madrigal smiles... silence, ghosts, and underworlds this morning...
Eden Haiku: :)
Eden Haiku: Isn't it in Finland they cover corpses with flowers before they send them to the ocean in a boat?
Thought that was North Sea ferries....
Eden Haiku: Saw that in " Dead Man" a movie by Jim Jarmush. Black and white. Great movie.
Zen Arado: Cosmicflower is from Finland
Eliza Madrigal: :) Ophelia...
Zen Arado: Preraphaelites
Eden Haiku: Yes, I know. Finnish people seem to have a worldview with less constraints than ours...
Ah yes, 'The Swan of Tuonela'
Eden Haiku: Going back to the topic of views and frameworks Gaya, any new thoughts about that?
Gaya Ethaniel fondly remembers walking past the spot where Millais is thought of painted 'Ophelia', background:
'The fair Ophelia! Nymph, in thy orisons
Be all my sins remembered'
What a pity she never learned to swim. And curiously enough, I actually had a dream about Ophelia the very next night (before I read the log). But I digress, back to the joys of Play as Being. And sometimes, 'joys' seems an apt word:
2010.06.07 13:00 - Happy Birthday Wol
SophiaSharon Larnia: ive been looking every where for balls to juggle
Eliza Madrigal: ohhh juggling balls would be great
Wol Euler: difficult to implement because of the physics, and the timing of the balls to the animation
Darren Islar: who can juggle his stick the highest?
Hey, they said it, not me !! Frankly, I'm shocked ;-)
Which brings us to another point- do we know where we're going on the wu-way? Which way is wu-wei? Is this the wu-wei to Amarillo? You get my drift....
2010.06.07 19:00 - The tree is me.
stevenaia Michinaga: the only constant is change " thing"
SophiaSharon Larnia: smiles
stevenaia Michinaga: it;s a wave you can ride ok swim against
stevenaia Michinaga: *or
SophiaSharon Larnia: it does seem like a choice you have to make
stevenaia Michinaga: wei wu state
SophiaSharon Larnia: spontenaity :)
stevenaia Michinaga: it;s always a choice as to which gets you to where you are going
stevenaia Michinaga: I suppose the path may be more important than the destination
SophiaSharon Larnia: you said the path is more important than the destination, experientially
stevenaia Michinaga: bundles of small strong things
stevenaia Michinaga: there really is no destination
stevenaia Michinaga: only journeys
And sometimes on the journey, we encounter misunderstanding:
2010.06.08 01:00 - Isn't it ironic
Darren Islar: well, it sounded ironic and I didn't know why or how to understand it
Darren Islar: I guess i don't know you that well yet :)
Wester Kiranov: i suppose so. irony can be dangerous :)
Darren Islar: yes, and normally I can see somebody's body speak, but that isn't possible in sl
Darren Islar: I found out here that I need to be more direct
Darren Islar: or know somebody pretty well
Darren Islar: but allas, it is solved :)
Wester Kiranov: :)
Time is waiting in the wings
He speaks of senseless things
His thoughts are you and me boy (/girl)
2010.06.08 07:00 - Snaps
SophiaSharon Larnia: If moments are all 'now', and are visualized like a strand of pearls, what is the difference between each one?
SophiaSharon Larnia: for me, it seems to be experience, the changing of experiences, but I'd like to hear more from others :)
Gaya Ethaniel: hm ... something about that articulation throws me off ... thinking.
SophiaSharon Larnia: yes sorry phrased badly
Gaya Ethaniel: moments - now, then to strands ...
Gaya Ethaniel: No, I take a long time to understand then articulate :)
Riddle Sideways: 1. all the pearls look alike on the outside
Riddle Sideways: from a distance
Gaya Ethaniel: Hello Yaku :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: hi Yaku
Riddle Sideways: 2. on the inside or close inspection they differ
Yakuzza Lethecus: hey everyone
Riddle Sideways: hi Yak
Gaya Ethaniel: It seems that different perspectives are used. To see each moment as now & seeing each moments separately.
SophiaSharon Larnia: imagine each moment like a copy of the last, but it has changed somewhat
Gaya Ethaniel: Hence there is a difference resulting from that I think.
Riddle Sideways: yes, those full length movies made of thousands of stills
SophiaSharon Larnia: ok perspective
Riddle Sideways: (fav subject) point of view
Gaya Ethaniel: To see each moment now as now wouldn't make a reference to the last etc.
SophiaSharon Larnia: grins and nods
SophiaSharon Larnia: yes Gaya
Riddle Sideways: each now can stand alone
Riddle Sideways: but why
SophiaSharon Larnia: but the data has carried over
Gaya Ethaniel: Seeing the strand of pearls essentially involves recalling & amassing memories, a particular point of view, which is different.
SophiaSharon Larnia: yes, phrased badly ^^ but I see you understood anyway
Gaya Ethaniel: My question is are you asking still why there is a difference or in fact you want to discuss something more?
Gaya Ethaniel: Glad I'm understanding you :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: the difference that I saw was experiential awareness, but there is much more to see, I believe
Gaya Ethaniel listens.
SophiaSharon Larnia: the copy of the last moment is there but there experience added, what else is different, if anything
SophiaSharon Larnia: and perspective, I didnt look at that yet :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: in this context anyway
Gaya Ethaniel: It'd be helpful if you can give us an example happened in RL/SL :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: i cant, just thinking
SophiaSharon Larnia: nothing happened
Riddle Sideways: image of Being having a photo album
Riddle Sideways: flipping thru the snapshots
Riddle Sideways: each a moment that stands alone
Riddle Sideways: image of [can't remember title] Herman Hesse book with "For Madmen only" in it
Riddle Sideways: stranger walks up to you
Riddle Sideways: hands you your book
Riddle Sideways: there is your snaps and movies
You're thinking of 'Steppenwolf' Riddle. One of my favourites, as it goes.
And speaking of my favourites:
2010.06.08 13:00 - Don't Try this at Home
Agatha Macbeth: Did you know you often type capital T after an apostrophe?
Wol Euler: yes :)
Agatha Macbeth: Ha!
Wol Euler: one of my characteristic mistakes
Wol Euler: like "htat" or "hte"
Agatha Macbeth: mmm
Agatha Macbeth: Yes
Agatha Macbeth: Funny how you pick up on other people's idiosyncracies
Wol Euler smiles and nods. We are hardwired to do that, using whatever media info is available
Agatha Macbeth: Well I do anyways
Enter Bruce Lee and John Lennon
2010.06.08 19:00 - Conscious Embodiment
Calvino Rabeni: The great thing about an art like Aikido - a martial art, is that it has to WORK RIGHT NOW :)
Eos Amaterasu: I tend that way too: "three words that strike vital point" over "sutra in 10,000,000 verses" :-)
Eliza Madrigal: :))
Calvino Rabeni: Or else :)
Eos Amaterasu: Yes, a complete action takes just a few seconds
Calvino Rabeni: i.e. Instant Karma
Eliza Madrigal: gonna get you
Calvino Rabeni: right, that one :)
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eos Amaterasu: like the moon and the stars and the sun :-)
Eliza Madrigal: :::holds hands and sways::: hehe
Eliza Madrigal: I learned only recently that the word 'theory' derives from the same word that theatre dervies from... thought that was fascinating connection
Calvino Rabeni: That's fascinating :)
(That's what she said!!)
Eos Amaterasu: theories: ways of seeing
Eliza Madrigal: yes :)
Eos Amaterasu: language is amazing
Calvino Rabeni: It shows the truer early relationship between knowing and Drama
'What is love anyway?'
2010.06.09 01:00 - Deities
Fael Innovia: the wikipedia article on Love mentions greeks considering love as a form of madness.
Fael Innovia: although, no mention if it was considered negative. I wouldn't think so
Zaldaan Sirnah: animals love
Liza Deischer: I think being in love is close to madness :)
Liza Deischer: or better: falling in love
This writer could not agree more....
And as for dreams:
2010.06.09 07:00 - Dreams reveal the malleability of time
Eliza Madrigal: So might we have a topic today? What are you both thinking about?
Yakuzza Lethecus: my last thought was if i could eat too much salad
Yakuzza Lethecus: dunno if that counts as a topic :P
Eliza Madrigal: haha, yes I don't either Ya
SophiaSharon Larnia: um Ive babbled about what I'm thinking about for 3 sessions now, someone else plz :)
Eliza Madrigal guffaws
SophiaSharon Larnia: sure you can eat too much salad
SophiaSharon Larnia: theoretically hahaha
Yakuzza Lethecus: i made myself a green salad with tomato and yogurt dressing
Yakuzza Lethecus: now i finished one with oil and vinegar
Eliza Madrigal: Well, I really enjoyed Maxine's workshop yesterday... Lucinda and her teacher talked about the dream circle. It inspired wonderful dreams last night
Yakuzza Lethecus: i am still hungry,
Yakuzza Lethecus: yes, it was interesting there
SophiaSharon Larnia: salads do that to me too Yaku lol
SophiaSharon Larnia: like chinese food
Eliza Madrigal actually had a very profound PaB/Wu Wei dream about salad once.. haha
Am I an avatar dreaming of salad or a salad dreaming of an avatar?
Eliza Madrigal: Before I was a meditator, I dreamed that Paul McCartney came and talked to me about it
Eliza Madrigal: hehehe
Eliza Madrigal: oooo zen, and its all up to you?
Zen Arado: what did he say?
SophiaSharon Larnia: (as an aside, i just imagined a whole scenario of how that dream could go Zen)
Eliza Madrigal: I have no idea Zen :)) Just remember that he was talking with me and I woke thinking about meditation
Gaya Ethaniel: :)
Zen Arado: isn't he getting married again? You missed out there Eliza :)
Eliza Madrigal: shoot
Eliza Madrigal: :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: laughs
Gaya Ethaniel: :)
Eliza Madrigal: alas, catch him next time ;-)
Gaya Ethaniel: :)
Zen Arado: surprised there was this time :)
Zen Arado: after the last time
Eliza Madrigal: yes go figure... strange
Gaya Ethaniel: People often fall for shadow of a person rather than the person. Hope it's not the case for him this time.
And for us all Gaya :)
Like the BeeGees said, 'It's only words':
2010.06.09 13:00 - Inner and Outer Bits
Gaya Ethaniel nods. It's a long term thingy :)
Mickorod Renard: thingy,,now thats a word I often use
Fael Innovia: thingy! :)
Gaya Ethaniel: oh? :)
Mickorod Renard: yeaaaa
Gaya Ethaniel: :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: me too but usually as a result of forgetting the word out of hastiness
Gaya Ethaniel: I often choose words by sound and thingy is one of them.
Fael Innovia smiles.
SophiaSharon Larnia giggles
Gaya Ethaniel: :)
Mickorod Renard: mine is because I dont think the need is that strong to spend ages searching my mind for the right word
Fael Innovia starts humming 'thingy... thingyy... thingythingythingy...'
Gaya Ethaniel: :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: now i have lag, you gave me the lag
SophiaSharon Larnia: laughs
Gaya Ethaniel: :)
Mickorod Renard: eeeek,,its catching
--BELL--
Mickorod uses the word 'thingy' to point to the almost indescribability of beautiful moments...
Mickorod Renard: it was cloudy and some mist due to rain here today,,but at one stage the sky opened with a burst of white cloud and blue sky peeking through,,it was really ,,,,thingy,,,,the light lit up the edges like fire..and i got a feeling of lovely cool air like one gets on high mountain tops
I love your Thingy Mick :p
Time to cast the runes methinks....
2010.06.09 19:00 - Contemplative toys
Paradise Tennant: I was going through some old boxes and found a set of runes ..i had been given as a teenager :)
stevenaia Michinaga: certain of my two or three fingers get to the other letters first
Paradise Tennant: lol
Paradise Tennant: smiles
stevenaia Michinaga: ruins? stones?
Paradise Tennant: yes

Paradise Tennant: you cast them
Paradise Tennant: read the significance of each .. stone
stevenaia Michinaga: they ahve symbols?
stevenaia Michinaga: have
Paradise Tennant: posing a quesiton or topic .. to yourself
Paradise Tennant: I use to think it was kind of a creative thinking exercise
stevenaia Michinaga: :)
Paradise Tennant: if you were trying to work out a problem it could introduce different perspectives or elements randomly that would help maybe work it out
stevenaia Michinaga: yes like Iching
stevenaia Michinaga: where does it come from?
Paradise Tennant: they are viking
Paradise Tennant: old
