Riddle, Eden and Adams on a dark rainy Monday morning

Eden Haiku: Good morning Riddle :)
    Riddle Sideways: Good Day Eden:)
    Riddle Sideways: made it
    Eden Haiku: :)
Riddle Sideways: did your plot have radio/TV today?
    Eden Haiku: Ah ... no...
    Eden Haiku: Wonderful!
    Eden Haiku: It's gone!
    Eden Haiku: Yours?
    Riddle Sideways: not here either
Eden Haiku: Here is fine too
Riddle Sideways: yes, Bunbun is listening to commercials
Riddle Sideways: for baby nose wiping tissues
Eden Haiku: Sometimes things fix themselves by themselves. Oh no, still on your plot?
Riddle Sideways: back on plot, was gone for a while
    Riddle Sideways: welcome, leaping Adams
Eden Haiku: Poor Bunbun, he will get all the ads :(
    Eden Haiku: Hey Adams :)
Adams Rubble: Good morning Eden and Riddle :)
Riddle Sideways: always smiling thinking of Roo and Tigger when Adams leaps in
Riddle Sideways: a most delightful way to travel
Riddle Sideways: made out of spring
    Riddle Sideways: ss
    Eden Haiku: smiles
Riddle Sideways: with all the fun stuff to do this weekend, listening to news was skipped
Riddle Sideways:in much of a good mood today
    Adams Rubble: :)
Eden Haiku: Skipping the news and leapimg seems to be am excellent idea !
    Riddle Sideways: yes, it does
Adams Rubble: We are getting April Showers today but last weeks February weather is still sitting on the ground.
Riddle Sideways: weather seems to not be in March there?
Eden Haiku: Yes, same here Adams. How did you manage in the huge snowstorm?
Adams Rubble: we have had lots of March winds the past couple of weeks :)
Adams Rubble: it wasn't as huge as it could have beem
Adams Rubble: Northwest of here has been getting it worse
Riddle Sideways: the ol "it could be worse"
Adams Rubble: we only had about 8 inches

    The Sacrifice of Abraham

Adams Rubble: Yesterday I was at an interfaith event at an islamic Center
Eden Haiku: In Montreal, it's been worse than it was expected, all over Quebec in fact, Five people die, trapped in their car or hurt by a snow machine....
    Riddle Sideways: oh! great Adams
Adams Rubble: A rabbi got up and spoke about the Sacrifice of Abraham
    Eden Haiku: listening
Adams Rubble: naturally my ears perked up
    Riddle Sideways: :)
Adams Rubble: he had a new twist that I had not heard
Adams Rubble: He went through the story adding that Abraham had to ask which son because he had two
Adams Rubble: God said Isaac, not Ishmael
Adams Rubble: Abraham took his son up the mountain, put him on the "funerary pyre" and lifted up is knife for the sacrifice
Riddle Sideways: that is the trickiest part of translations
Adams Rubble: and God said "You got it"
    Adams Rubble: stay tuned

    --BELL--

Adams Rubble: (excuse me had a little accident during the mindfulness)
    Adams Rubble: back to normal
    Eden Haiku: :)
Adams Rubble: The Rabbi went on
    Riddle Sideways: :)
Adams Rubble:  he said that what Abraham did was to face his fears-- he would lose the things most important to him; and he would be the instrument for the loss
Adams Rubble: God was telling him that he did it
Adams Rubble: and the Rabbi added that God never spoke to Abraham again--because he did not need to
    Adams Rubble: that's it
Adams Rubble: The Rabbi told the story better than I did :)
Eden Haiku: Abraham test is still very very hard to understand...
Adams Rubble can sense bewildered looks
Riddle Sideways: the picking of one of the sons is troubling
Eden Haiku: To kill a child because some voice of God is telling you to....
Riddle Sideways: Torah, reads take "The" son, which you love
Adams Rubble: Did you see the exhibit at the old museum on this story Eden?
Riddle Sideways: or is translated that way
    Adams Rubble: oh Riddle, interesting
Eden Haiku: No, not yet Adams:)
Adams Rubble: It is gone unfortunately
Eden Haiku: "The" son that you love, wow, even harder...
Eden Haiku: Oh, sad, can you summarize what the exhibit showed?
Adams Rubble:It looked at the story from the Jewish, Islamic and Christian viewpoints and also from that of Abraham, Isaac, Ishmael, Sarah, God and the Lamb
Adams Rubble: since the story is troubling, there has been mountains of literature written about it
Eden Haiku: Many viewpoints, wondering what the lamb's point of view was :(
Eden Haiku: Even killing a lamb, I would hesitate...
Adams Rubble is trying to remember
Riddle Sideways: and Sarah trials in all this
Adams Rubble: It was wrapped up with Christian theology
Adams Rubble: the sacrifice of the lamb
Riddle Sideways: and what Ishmael thought in all this story
Eden Haiku: Saw "Battlefield" by Peter Brook last Friday. After the Mahabharata battle, when all the cousins had killed each other
Adams Rubble: Sarah is sometimes a willing participant but other times tells Abraham don’t ake my son up the mountain while you are drunk on God
Adams Rubble: I do not know about that movie
Eden Haiku: "drunk on God",,, loves the expression....
Adams Rubble: Is that part of the big Mahabarata film?
Eden Haiku: It was a play with African actors and one white Bristish one.
    Eden Haiku: So amazing
Eden Haiku: Same questioning of "killing"
Eden Haiku: in hindouism too, it's like your duty sometimes to have to kill, even one of your own blood.
Eden Haiku: They call it Dharma
    Eden Haiku: Very puzzling too
Adams Rubble: the participants carrying out their roles
Adams Rubble: lots of stuff in that Mahabarata :)
Eden Haiku: Did the rabbi offer an explanation Adams?
Adams Rubble: that was all he said that I remember and I took notes
Adams Rubble: but fear was a topic of an interfaith at a time when Jews and Muslims (and Sikhs) are being attacked
Adams Rubble: so he may have fit the story to the talk about fear
    Eden Haiku: Yes, very actual...
Riddle Sideways: so, many twists available that the story can fit so many gathering
Eden Haiku: A friend of mine, who was travelling from France with her students had crossed Westminster bridge 2 hours before the attack...
    Adams Rubble: ohhhhh

Abrahamic Alliance meeting and Hindu epic songs

    Riddle Sideways: close
Riddle Sideways: there was an Abrahamic alliance international meeting here also this weekend
    Adams Rubble: what is that?
Riddle Sideways: gave my ticket to partner instead of going
Eden Haiku: Did she made a good resume for you Riddle?
Riddle Sideways: had been 3 times before and partner needed to see the kids there
Eden Haiku: remembers that you had a fantastic experience at these meetings Riddle;)
Riddle Sideways: it is the interfaith thing like Adams went to
    Riddle Sideways: yes!
Eden Haiku: Did your partner enjoyed it as much?
Riddle Sideways: so L wnanted/needed to do it
Riddle Sideways:from now on, both of us will go :)
    Eden Haiku: Great!
Adams Rubble: So many events are being held these days
Riddle Sideways: last couple times, it has been later in day, so evening prayers have happened and is quite something
Adams Rubble: have to make choices
    Riddle Sideways: well... one choice was to go to a party and play rock-n-roll for hours :}
Eden Haiku: There was a monologue at the end of Brook's play about the dark age when men are killing their wives and 6 years old girls are giving birth and so on... will try to find it in the ¨Mahabharata:. It was powerful.
    Riddle Sideways: not as rightous
Eden Haiku: Rock and roller forever Riddle :)
Adams Rubble: There is a frieze of the Mahabarata at the Ellora exhibit in Cave 16
Riddle Sideways: oh dear, Eden, not happy part
Adams Rubble: The first mention of a female diety in Hinduism is in the Mahabarata
Eden Haiku: Apocalyptic times are part of Hindu culure. Thanks Adams, will check that at the Museum...
Adams Rubble: Krishna tells Arjuna to pray to Uma before the battle
Adams Rubble: Uma is Parvati and many other "divine mothers"
Adams Rubble: Yes, the Hindus believe in cyclical time--close to big bang theories :)
Eden Haiku: At the end of the ¨Ramayana¨, Arjuna is resolved. He will go to battle as Krishna commands that it is his duty, his dharma: "I will do thy bidding".
    Adams Rubble: Mahabarata?
Adams Rubble: there is a frieze for the Ramayana there too
Eden Haiku: Well, I'm jumping from one epic song to the other. I know the ¨Ramayana» much better.
Adams Rubble: Have you seen the film "Sita sings the Blues?"
Riddle Sideways: no. is added to the list
    Adams Rubble: it is fabulous
Eden Haiku: In fact, I was so inspired by the play this week end, that I wanted to create a solo performance of the ¨Ramayana¨. I have been telling the story in schools for many years, with the students. This time, I would love to create it as a play. But that's very ambitious!
