The Guardian for this meeting was Wol Euler. The comments are by No Self.
Qt Core: Hi Wol
Wol Euler: good morning!
Qt Core: it almost is, awoke early, went to swim in the fog with my bicycle, had a hot shower and hot tea, so far is good
Wol Euler: excellent!
Wol Euler: aggers!
Qt Core: now i have only to survive saturday afternoon shoppin g in the before christmas saturday...
Qt Core: hi Agatha
Agatha Macbeth: Morning Wollage and QT
Agatha Macbeth: And Mr Elf
Wol Euler smiles.
Agatha Macbeth: (Gnome?)
Wol Euler: Elf on a Shoulder
Qt Core: zipped santa
Agatha Macbeth: What's elf in Italian QT?
Qt Core: elfo
Wol Euler: heh
Agatha Macbeth: Ah
Agatha Macbeth: Not very imaginitive what
Agatha Macbeth: No gym today?
Qt Core: already went to the park on my bicycle, had plenty of fog too
Agatha Macbeth: Fog? Wow
Agatha Macbeth: We never get that here any more
Agatha Macbeth: Not since the clean air laws
Qt Core: we do, and with all the rains we had in past months there is a lot of water in the ground
Agatha Macbeth: Oh dear
Qt Core: this area was foggy even before smog
Agatha Macbeth: Hope the elves don't get wet
Agatha Macbeth: Is it industrial pollution, or traffic mostly?
Qt Core: yesterday i had some nice views of fields covered by a couple meters of fog and a very shiny sun over them
Agatha Macbeth: You should have taken a picture
Qt Core: i was driving (and late too)
Agatha Macbeth: Aww
--BELL--
Qt Core: that is one of the reason i think google glasses are a good idea ;-)
Wol Euler: agreed
Agatha Macbeth: I must confess to know little about GG and all that
Qt Core: i mostly stop at the price, 1500 $ in the states and almost 2000 euros in EU
Agatha Macbeth: That's a very good place to stop
Wol Euler: is it actually available as a product already? I thought it was still testing
Qt Core: still in beta, but a beta you can join, paying
Wol Euler: ha
Agatha Macbeth: Good heavens
Qt Core: This is how to get it in europe, and it is from last june http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/features/...k-price-specs/
Qt Core: and for the price, if you wear your own glasses you may have to spend another couple hundred euros for a compatible mount and then for your prescription lenses
Qt Core: so i like the idea but have a few problems with its current implementation ;-)
Agatha Macbeth grins
Qt Core: this is another idea i like, even if i wonder how to use it outside in winter : http://www.slashgear.com/cicret-puts...skin-01357926/
Qt Core: basically a bracelet that project an android interface on your arm
Wol Euler: hmmmm
Agatha Macbeth: No arm in it I guess
Wol Euler pokes you
Qt Core: if it could have a camera on it one could shot pictures almost like shooting poewer rays from his hands!
Agatha Macbeth: They seem to be just competing for the title of silliest product available these days
Agatha Macbeth: They'' be having smart sex aids next
Agatha Macbeth: will*
Agatha Macbeth: 'Play WoW on your vibrator'
Qt Core: giving me strange ideas about tetris...
Agatha Macbeth: Ah, tetris
Agatha Macbeth: I remember it well
Wol Euler: I'm aware of it, but only played a small number of times
Wol Euler: there wasn't enough payback in it for me
--BELL--
Agatha Macbeth: And not forgetting space invaders
Qt Core: i played it a lot
Qt Core: to the point of having once or twice a dream about being attacked by ordes of tetris pieces, a sensation like laying down on the beach and being reached by waves (not in a nice way)
Agatha Macbeth: 0.0
Agatha Macbeth: Tetrisphobia
Wol Euler: wow
Qt Core: even tried the 3d version when you had to complete "floors" to make them disappear
Qt Core: *where
Wol Euler: oh , I hadn't heard of that
Wol Euler: sounds tricky
Agatha Macbeth: My favourite game back in the day was Chuckie egg
Agatha Macbeth: All those damn ducks
Qt Core: yes, considering the rotation possibilities
Qt Core: you could even rotate the "arena" to see where holes where and hot the falling blocks would fit
Wol Euler: What did I play? exploration games in low-rez mostly, turn-based
Agatha Macbeth: Such as...
Agatha Macbeth: ?
Qt Core: like the first 6/7 Ultima ones ?
Wol Euler: trying to think of the names
Qt Core: what about classics like Simcity ?
Wol Euler: Avernum is the only one that I can find now, it's too long ago, the computer in question is gone
Wol Euler: yes, this was before that, before good animation and high resolution
Agatha Macbeth: I'll do a Korel and look it up
Wol Euler: loved Sim City, I played that for god knows how many hundreds or thousands of hours
Qt Core: only to see godzilla and its frlendly hurricanes destroy everything ///
Wol Euler: tried Laura Croft, never even finished the tutorial
Wol Euler: oh, you have to turn off disasters :) that only happened to me once
Qt Core: i still think one of the best (numbing) games is minesweeper, cheap too ;-)
Qt Core: what is the fun then ?
Wol Euler: ah yes, that as fun
Wol Euler: the fun is beating the "black box", figuring out how it works
Wol Euler: perhaps an architect would see games like Sim City differently :)
Qt Core: probably
Agatha Macbeth: The screenshots look very Amiga-ish :)
Agatha Macbeth remembers the 16 bit era fondly
Qt Core: remembering the ours spent in WIng Commander 2 and my pilot name on it: Peter Urlovich (Urlo meaning scream in italian)
Wol Euler chuckles.
Wol Euler: I probably played Sim City more than any other game ever, until WoW came out
Qt Core: i remember Outrun , a car run games at the time of the EGA graphic card, i remember i used to tell it to run in CGA 4 color mode to lower its computing need and having a faster response from the car
--BELL--
Qt Core: those were the times of the 286 processors, the luxury of 1Mb RAM and 640x480 hi definition 256 colors
Agatha Macbeth nods
Agatha Macbeth: When Windows started taking over the world
Agatha Macbeth: Do you know of The Feast of the Seven Fishes QT?
Qt Core: no, never heard of it
Agatha Macbeth: Hm
Agatha Macbeth: Aph was just on about it in a NC
Agatha Macbeth: Apparently it's an Italian thing
Qt Core: ohh, checked it on wikipedia
Agatha Macbeth: Something to do with the solstice i think
Qt Core: it seem to be an americn italian tradition
Agatha Macbeth: Aha
Qt Core: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feast_o...e_Seven_Fishes
Agatha Macbeth: A transplant
Wol Euler: Southern Italian :) very different thing, capisce?
Qt Core: still based on the seafood preference for the christmas vigil dinner in southern italy (the origin of most italian emigrants to america)
Qt Core: :-)
Agatha Macbeth: Hm, sounds good
Agatha Macbeth loves seafood
Agatha Macbeth: I had squid in Sardinia once
Qt Core: i loved its salad variant, little squid pieces mixed with potato and parsley, lemon juice and oil, served warm
Agatha Macbeth: Oh wow
Agatha Macbeth: And here am I eating cornflakes
Qt Core: usually bought already made or in restaurant as i don't have idea how to handle/cook squid
Agatha Macbeth: Good thinking!
Agatha Macbeth: Some people may find the suckers a little off putting
Qt Core: some of the best foods have an horrible look ;-)
Wol Euler: true-ish :)
Agatha Macbeth: True that
Agatha Macbeth: Oh I just got a feliz navidad from Vitabela
Wol Euler: certainly, I don't want do look at a lot of food when it*s raw
Wol Euler: that's Czech for "merry christmas" :)
Agatha Macbeth: Yeh, it might eat you instead
--BELL--
Agatha Macbeth: Thought it's Spanish?
Agatha Macbeth: Oh well
Agatha Macbeth: Back to present wrapping for moi
Agatha Macbeth: Take care dears
Qt Core: have fun Agatha
Wol Euler: bye aggers
Wol Euler: this will be my last weekend until January 10th
Wol Euler: as I will be in Canada with my parents
Qt Core: will it be a white chrstmas there ?
Wol Euler: definitely :) it was already a white November
Qt Core: !
Wol Euler: I wish you a lovely and safe holiday, dear QT
Qt Core: :-) you too Wol
Wol Euler: bye for now
Qt Core: bye
