    ¨Ambassadors from another time¨

Riddle Sideways: John Steinbeck wrote about the redwood, "The redwoods, once seen, leave a mark or create a vision that stays with you always. No one has ever successfully painted or photographed a redwood tree. The feeling they produce is not transferable. From them comes silence and awe. It's not only their unbelievable stature, nor the color which seems to shift and vary under your eyes, no, they are not like any trees we know, they are ambassadors from another time."
Riddle Sideways: John says it better
Riddle Sideways: guy had a way with words
    Eden Haiku: Beautiful!
Adams Rubble: sorry I must go and take care of a problem that has just arisen
    Adams Rubble: bye
Eden Haiku: Saw some redwoods in Bristish Columbia. Bye Adams!
Riddle Sideways: hope all is ok
    Riddle Sideways: by
Riddle Sideways: and there are Coastal Redwoods near home
    Riddle Sideways: smaller giants :)
Eden Haiku: Never seen the giant ones. They are North of San Francisco I think?
    Riddle Sideways: ummmm, East
Riddle Sideways: the mountains along the eastern border
Riddle Sideways: North of S.F. are Coastal Redwoods too

    The days of hitchhiking

Eden Haiku: Ah. I was hitchiking through California with a friend, a looong time ago. We stayed by the coast :)

Riddle Sideways: they only grow to 300 feet
Riddle Sideways:Ah, the days of hitchhiking

    Eden Haiku: memories....
Eden Haiku: Nobody does that anymore ....
    Riddle Sideways: strangers being friendly
    Riddle Sideways: nope
    Eden Haiku: Yep!
Eden Haiku: We were all hippies then :)
Riddle Sideways: the coast highway use to have lots and lots of hitchhikers

Eden Haiku: Maybe you picked us up?
    Riddle Sideways: ah! good hippies
    Riddle Sideways: maybe
    Eden Haiku: :)
    Riddle Sideways: so many hitchhikers
Riddle Sideways: they always told such great stories

Riddle Sideways: nope! just good people you had not met yet
Riddle Sideways: hmmmm, that place with the crossroads in Canada
Eden Haiku: We felt at one with the world, the trees, the animals, the people
Riddle Sideways: with the Wah Wah Goose statue
Riddle Sideways: a major highway goes north from the cross-Canada hiway
Riddle Sideways: huge conventions of hitchhikers were there
Eden Haiku: Looking up the goose on my phone :)

    Riddle Sideways: love that Goose

    --BELL--

Riddle Sideways: the town of Wawa, Ontario
Eden Haiku: We took a plane from Montreal to Vancouver and then San Francisco. But then we traveled mostly through hitchhiking. Buses sometimes, when there were some. But to see the coast, you needed a car and we didn't drive. We met great people along the road...
Riddle Sideways: a time when you didn't need a car
Eden Haiku: We even caught a glimpse of writer Anaïs Nin in Santa Barbara :)
Riddle Sideways: well, there was that 7 hour wait in New Mexico
    Eden Haiku: Why so long?
Riddle Sideways:a famous hitchhiker hell spot
    Eden Haiku: Ah!
Riddle Sideways: get dropped off there and maybe never get a ride
Eden Haiku: New Mexicans were not hitchhikers friendly?
    Riddle Sideways: no! they are
    Riddle Sideways: just that exit
Eden Haiku: Or just such a desertic place I guess
Riddle Sideways: your ride was turning off there, so out you went

    Riddle Sideways: Oh the rambles
Eden Haiku: Siri doesn't even understand me most of the time :(
Eden Haiku: No, you were not rambling. There was the Listener and then we can read your thoughts.
Riddle Sideways: She says Siri and the Lexus and the phone don't understand her voice

Eden Haiku: Just tested Siri, asking him to open Play as Being. He offerd a list of drugstores near my place....
    Riddle Sideways: :)
Eden Haiku: The fact that I speak to him in French confuses him when I use English words.
Riddle Sideways: just tested "hello, phone" and "hello tablet" and they pretended not to be listening :)
Eden Haiku: This he can understand. I said Bonjour and he answered bonjour. Good boy!
