Riddle Sideways: Thank you, PaB Listener
Riddle Sideways: the daylight is coming earlier these days
Riddle Sideways: is one way to look at it
Riddle Sideways: the lengthening amount of daylight time span is increasingly overlapping the adjusted time piece measurement devices

    Riddle Sideways: A Story...
                   --BELL--
Riddle Sideways: or a bit of a story

Riddle Sideways: clearing out a box of Stuff not seen nor used in years

Riddle Sideways: there were several finely crafted simple sticks
Riddle Sideways: pairs of metal, bamboo, or plastic sticks that were build such that one slid in the other
Riddle Sideways: went to put them with the others like them.
Riddle Sideways: noticed how many sets of them there were
Riddle Sideways: collected in several draws, shelves, boxes
Riddle Sideways: Father had given several of them. The first and oldest ones.
Riddle Sideways: Some were bought for school, college, work or because of their unique size, shape, functions
Riddle Sideways: gathered them (mostly) all up and spread them across the floor
Riddle Sideways: played around organizing them in differing catagories, classes, etc.
Riddle Sideways: sat on the floor among these sliding sticks.
Riddle Sideways: thinking of the generation(s) now that do not know what these are or how to use them
                   --BELL--
Riddle Sideways: looking at the marks on them.
Riddle Sideways: many sets of parallel lines with tick marks across the length
Riddle Sideways: sliding the middle stick some length to line up a numbered tick mark with the beginning one on the fixed outside sticks
Riddle Sideways: then scan eyes and a finger along the middle slide to any other number

Riddle Sideways: lining the number 2 tick up with the beginning number 1 mark
Riddle Sideways: scanning out to see that 2 x 3 lined up to the number 6 mark
Riddle Sideways: held in one hand was ALL the answers to doubling any number.
Riddle Sideways: special thing is ... there are ALL the answers at exactly the same moment
    Riddle Sideways: 2x2, 2x1,2,34, 2pi, .... right there ... now
Riddle Sideways: in a linear scale stretching the length of two simple sticks
                   --BELL--
Riddle Sideways: there was the simple 1-10 scale
Riddle Sideways: but squint a bit
    Riddle Sideways: and see 10-100
Riddle Sideways: squint more and see 100-1000
    Riddle Sideways: wow

Riddle Sideways: logarithmic scales (odd word and principle) that didn't need to be known
    Riddle Sideways: just used
Riddle Sideways: or studied and Known for their beauty
Riddle Sideways: across the floor were so many different lengths, widths, numbers of scale lines and shapes
Riddle Sideways: oooooo the circular ones !! thinking how the number scales wrap around to the beginning or end of yet another cycle(s)

Riddle Sideways: a simpler ... cheap plastic ... cracked, aged, yellowed one
Riddle Sideways: which would be the first candidate to toss away
Riddle Sideways: until looked at closely
    Riddle Sideways: there
    Riddle Sideways: on both shafts
Riddle Sideways: were the 12 notes of an even tempered musical scale
Riddle Sideways: (and some other lines/marks)
Riddle Sideways: slide the middle so the E lines up with the C
Riddle Sideways: and transpose every note, chord, scale, sound, noise
    Riddle Sideways: at once
Riddle Sideways: wrap the scale around off one end and start across the other end
Riddle Sideways: find the notes ascending to the ether
Riddle Sideways: all in a one dimensional line

Riddle Sideways: wrap the thoughts around that
    Riddle Sideways: see it ...
Riddle Sideways: in that point of view
Riddle Sideways: know the numbers and the musical notes from the same view
Riddle Sideways: and watch off into the distance
    Riddle Sideways: ...
                   --BELL--
Riddle Sideways: this cheapest one is maybe the most valuable

Riddle Sideways: wait ... this one father used and gave
Riddle Sideways: wait ... this one has a baby's teeth marks
Riddle Sideways: and this one ... and Oh! And ... Ah this one, just touching it,
Riddle Sideways: none get throw away today
Riddle Sideways: all are put in drawers, boxes, shelves, cabinets, bookshelves, music stands, spread around

Riddle Sideways: and the little bucket
Riddle Sideways: with the label "Bucket List"
Riddle Sideways: gets 3 cards put in it
    Riddle Sideways: that say ...
Riddle Sideways: take out and play with the slide rules today
    Riddle Sideways: ..

    Riddle Sideways: An End
    Riddle Sideways: Done

Riddle Sideways: Thank you, for listening Listening Master
