    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Tura :)
    Tura Brezoianu: hi Eliza
    Eliza Madrigal: How's your week?
Tura Brezoianu: Oh, same as usual.
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: Still no cafe's I guess
Tura Brezoianu: Yes, no cafes yet, and no taiko.
Tura Brezoianu: How's things with you?
Eliza Madrigal: I felt that way at first, for several weeks actually, that I liked everything slowing down
Eliza Madrigal: Now it is all way too busy....
Eliza Madrigal: am dizzy busy actually... too too much
Eliza Madrigal: Missing out on dream sessions and OF, and here...
Eliza Madrigal: but hopefully will balance
Tura Brezoianu: What is it that you do?
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Luci, San (just panned out)
    Santoshima Resident: hello :)
    Lucinda Lavender: Hi Eliza, Tura,
Tura Brezoianu: hi Luci and San
    Lucinda Lavender: just listening here
Eliza Madrigal: I'm editing PT, then working at an organization store part time. The store is a crazy place to be
Eliza Madrigal: Before the pandemic I felt like I'd achieved some weird balance... physical/mental
Eliza Madrigal: Dream sessions have been nice to read though

    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Bleu
    Bleu Oleander: hi all :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Wol
    Santoshima Resident: hi Bleu
    Santoshima Resident: hi Wol
Wol Euler: evening all, sorry I'm late
Eliza Madrigal: No worries. How are things, everyone? :)
    Lucinda Lavender: Hi Bleu, Wol!
Bleu Oleander: getting a bit worse in AZ but we're doing good, you?
    Eliza Madrigal: Numbers wise, Bleu?
    Bleu Oleander: yes, spiking here
    Eliza Madrigal: :(
    Wol Euler: :( indeed
Lucinda Lavender: I saw that in NYT chart
    Bleu Oleander: hospitals filling up
    Bleu Oleander: everything back open
    Eliza Madrigal: Fully open there?
    Lucinda Lavender: :(
    Bleu Oleander: perfect storm :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Ugh
Wol Euler: no doubt that will be blamed on the protests, by people who pretend to be ignorant of the incubation period ...
    Lucinda Lavender: hmmm
Bleu Oleander: and lots of protests, so people out together in large groups, no masks
Eliza Madrigal: Here we're supposedly inching back to full opening, but I can tell you the trendy restaurants are already going
Eliza Madrigal: And I've been in the midst of a flood of irritated people who haven't heard that there is a crisis, at the store
    Wol Euler: bah
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Qt
    Wol Euler: hello qt
    Qt Core: Hi all
Santoshima Resident: WO just recommended wearing masks
    Santoshima Resident: hi Qt
    Santoshima Resident: WHO
Bleu Oleander: can't really make sense of it ... we're having our largest number of cases but being encouraged to get out there and open
    Eliza Madrigal: $$
    Bleu Oleander: yep
Wol Euler: rich people who won't be going to the stores to get infected want to return to earning money from the people who do get infected

Eliza Madrigal: I fell asleep listening to Sean Carrol's podcast right after he said something about there being a measure for a human life... between 3 and 5 million, I think it was
    Bleu Oleander: yes
Lucinda Lavender: what is meant by a measure for human life?
Eliza Madrigal: They've actually calculated dollars
Bleu Oleander: just read "ultimate price"
    Bleu Oleander: Howard Friedman
Qt Core: that would be the person inpact on economy, not on humanity
Tura Brezoianu: The value of a life is the amount it's worth spending to save one.
Eliza Madrigal: yes, much better articulated, thanks
    Lucinda Lavender: i see...wow
Bleu Oleander: actually what's interesting is he says that that figure is not so much based on lost income any more

    --BELL--

"Wol Euler: that word "worth" needs a lot of unpacking
    Eliza Madrigal nods
Wol Euler: I'm quite certain that a buttload of money would be spent on saving Trump's life were someone to shoot him, even though his worth to the US is actually negative
Wol Euler: sorry, I should make myself sit in the corner
Wol Euler: I'm in a foul mood tonight
    Eliza Madrigal: :) no
Wol Euler: I'll shut up now
Eliza Madrigal: Please don't.... we're here as we are
Eliza Madrigal: <--sleepy, cranky, but comforted seeing your avatar faces ^.^
Eliza Madrigal: There's actually a lot inspiring about the protests I think
    Lucinda Lavender: :)
Lucinda Lavender: it is go to have a place to be
    Lucinda Lavender: good to have
    Eliza Madrigal: it is :)
Lucinda Lavender: a place to type oddly
    Eliza Madrigal: :))
    Wol Euler: that too :)
Lucinda Lavender: all our different worlds:)

Bleu Oleander: reading "stamped" by Kendi
    Eliza Madrigal listens
Lucinda Lavender: what is that about?
    Bleu Oleander: on racism
Bleu Oleander: history from a different perspective
    Lucinda Lavender: sounds important
Eliza Madrigal: There are things that once you see, you can't unsee... then dominoes. I think that's happening for a lot of people right now
    Bleu Oleander: yes
    Wol Euler nods.
Eliza Madrigal: the film "13th" really connected dots for me
Bleu Oleander: award winning author on antiracist research and policy
Lucinda Lavender: thanks for these suggestions
Eliza Madrigal: I like that word too, anti-racist, captures a lot
    Bleu Oleander: yes
Bleu Oleander: he makes the case that antiracists are challenging assimilationists and segregationists
Bleu Oleander: good read and everyone could benefit from this book I think
    Eliza Madrigal: Thanks, sounds so
    Wol Euler: noted, thank you

Eliza Madrigal: I've been trying to make my way through a contemplative book I just love while I'm reading it, but then hesitate to pick up again because it is so immersive. Odd, because that's exactly what I need.... immersive imaginative rest
Bleu Oleander: what book is that?
Eliza Madrigal: But it is like I'm afraid of enjoying it too much then having to stop and get used to the busy pace of life currently again
    Wol Euler smiles.
Eliza Madrigal: It is called Kindly Bent to Ease Us... about Longchenpa's writings
Qt Core: a too good to eat cake
    Bleu Oleander: thanks
Eliza Madrigal: one of three books. I read the third way back at the second Windhorse retreat
    Eliza Madrigal: :) Qt

    --BELL--

Eliza Madrigal: It is the kind of book you read a sentence, and then sort of bask for an hour
    Eliza Madrigal: (to me) :)
Eliza Madrigal: Sorry, I'm ranty too, lol
    Eliza Madrigal sits on hands
    Wol Euler: awwwww
    Wol Euler: ((((eliza))))
Bleu Oleander: nice to share ...
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Santoshima Resident: important to share, please do!

Santoshima Resident: must go, please excuse me
Wol Euler: bye san, see you saturday
Bleu Oleander: bye San, take care
    Qt Core: bye Santoshima
    Tura Brezoianu: bye San
Santoshima Resident: bye, see you then, should be nice
Eliza Madrigal: By San, weekend event sounds really great
    Bleu Oleander: yes!
Eliza Madrigal: There is something there though, about immersive imagination... what we find in SL at times
    Eliza Madrigal: it is restorative
Lucinda Lavender: perhaps a temporary shift that balances
    Bleu Oleander: yes
    Eliza Madrigal nods
Bleu Oleander: good books, art and music do that for me
    Wol Euler nods.
    Eliza Madrigal nods

Eliza Madrigal: a good way of being hooked

Eliza Madrigal: Lately really tempted to try official VR, but there doesn't seem much to do. My son says VR chat is like Club Penguin (kids game from wayish back)
Wol Euler: what does "official VR" mean?
    Eliza Madrigal: headsets
    Wol Euler: ah
Bleu Oleander: we have quite a few VR locations in AZ, not sure how they're doing now
Lucinda Lavender: what does VR mean?
Bleu Oleander: but when I looked into it, seemed not worth while ... more like video games
    Tura Brezoianu: virtual reality
    Lucinda Lavender: ah
Wol Euler: it tends to mean wearing headsets that feed vision and sound to you, rather than what we do here with a screen
Tura Brezoianu: Like this, but you wear a headset and you can look around in the world and walk about
Bleu Oleander: a bit expensive to kill avatars for 30 minutes LOL
Tura Brezoianu: I've been meaning to get a headset for a while, but I haven't yet.
Eliza Madrigal: the tech needs to improve perhaps... many people still get ill within minutes
Bleu Oleander: I did try it in Boston ... had an art installation set up ... I didn't feel ill, but wasn't really impressed with the content
Bleu Oleander: the tech is not there yet and content seems a long way off
Eliza Madrigal: Content has got to be what brings people in... when there is something you deeply want to experience
Eliza Madrigal: I originally wanted to attend a concert in SL
Eliza Madrigal: You might be able to drum in VR, Tura!
    Tura Brezoianu: There's an idea!
Tura Brezoianu: There are electric taiko that might be interfaced to a VR system
Wol Euler: funny that the hardware VR people seem not to know that software VR has existed for fifteen years, and millions of people use it daily
    Eliza Madrigal: !
    Bleu Oleander: yep

    --BELL--

    Eliza Madrigal: layers
Wol Euler: nobody seems to have thought of making a hardware VR interface to SL or to any of the game worlds
Wol Euler: where content and lots of people are already present
Eliza Madrigal: There was a bit of effort there, with artists in SL
Tura Brezoianu: There was for a while a 3rd party SL viewer that supported VR
Qt Core: i think that there are a few out there
Eliza Madrigal: yes, had hoped to see that take off more
Bleu Oleander: was expense the problem there?
Tura Brezoianu: but Linden Lab don't have plans to support it.
Eliza Madrigal: that's right... about the same time, attention went to other world ideas, forgot that

Lucinda Lavender: may I interject a question?
Tura Brezoianu: Sansar was desigedn around VR from teh start, but it hasn't caught on much.
Eliza Madrigal: SL was like the earth, with Elons running off to mars, lol
    Bleu Oleander: sure
    Eliza Madrigal listens
    Tura Brezoianu listens

Lucinda Lavender: are the dream sessions on tuesdays recorded at the wiki somewhere?
Eliza Madrigal: In the main chat logs area... I will get a link
Lucinda Lavender: I went looking...thank you:)
    Eliza Madrigal: this week's: https://wiki.playasbeing.org/Chat_Logs/2020/06/2020.06.09_13:00_-_Dream_Session:_Check_both_the_envelope_and_the_letter
    Lucinda Lavender: thanks!
Eliza Madrigal: Read that today :)
    Lucinda Lavender: cool!
Eliza Madrigal: If you go to "recent changes" at the top of the main wiki page, you will see what is latest
    Lucinda Lavender: great thanks!
Eliza Madrigal: my schedule is very unpredictable lately, and I end up staying way later than intended
Eliza Madrigal: but I'm so glad we're recording sessions (Thanks Riddle!)
Bleu Oleander: nice to see you all ... take care ... back to work :)
Wol Euler: bye bleu, take care
Eliza Madrigal: Bye Bleu, stay safe and happy :)
    Tura Brezoianu: bye Bleu
    Bleu Oleander: bye for now
    Bleu Oleander: you too!
    Qt Core: bye bleu
    Lucinda Lavender: bye bleu
Eliza Madrigal wants to see doggie photos
    Lucinda Lavender: :))
    Wol Euler: awwwww
Wol Euler: well for that matter so do we
    Eliza Madrigal grins
Wol Euler: you haven't posted any george shots in ages
Eliza Madrigal: Dull surroundings... same apartment, not doing much, parks closed :)
Eliza Madrigal: But I do post to instagram more often than FB
    Wol Euler: yeah, fair enough
Eliza Madrigal: Haven't seen Bleu's dog since puppyhood I think

Eliza Madrigal: there is something about VR too, which is no weather or smell or touch, yet your body must feel like there should be
Eliza Madrigal: I wonder how it will drain one, the disconnect
Eliza Madrigal: Here, you have a body suited for the environment... even if it lacks some things
    Wol Euler nods.
Qt Core: that's because it still outside, just wait for an usb port on our neck then we will have the full VR package ;-)
    Eliza Madrigal: hahah
Lucinda Lavender: I guess I will need to go now...
Eliza Madrigal: Do you remember the dream I had of you and Aggers, Wol? We were in Kira Cafe, you two were on the sofa, and one of you gave me the advice that I could stay immersed in SL much longer if I wore thermal underwear

    --BELL--

    Eliza Madrigal giggles
    Lucinda Lavender: :)))
    Wol Euler laughs.
    Qt Core: !
Wol Euler: no, I don't remember that
    Wol Euler: sorry :)
    Qt Core: bye Luci
Wol Euler: but yea, good advice
Wol Euler: bye luci, take care
Eliza Madrigal: Good to see you, Luci <3
    Tura Brezoianu: bye Luci
Lucinda Lavender: being warm then...wearing a clothing that with insulating qualities:))
    Eliza Madrigal: true...
Lucinda Lavender: that will have those qualities
Eliza Madrigal: and the intention I guess
Lucinda Lavender: you all take care too! See you later!
Eliza Madrigal: I didn't send notices today.... really should have
    Wol Euler: no worries
Eliza Madrigal: while things are not normal, want to make these opportunities where possible :)

    [longish pause]

Eliza Madrigal: Sleepy Europeans must be dozing off....
    Qt Core: :-)
    Wol Euler: sorry :D
    Wol Euler: too many distractions
    Eliza Madrigal: :))
Wol Euler: htat wouild be an advantage of hardware VR :D
    Eliza Madrigal: could poke you
    Tura Brezoianu wakes up
Wol Euler: could hide them all!
    Eliza Madrigal: so funny
Eliza Madrigal: big hugs, and I hope to see you again soon
Wol Euler: take care, dear Eliza
    Tura Brezoianu: goodnight Eliza

Qt Core: as a confirmation as my great social life the thing most annoyed me diring lockdown was the rule that make me go shop only at the shopping malls in your municipality, i change malls on a regular base to have a more exciting life... ;-)
Wol Euler: hugs and earscritches to the family
    Wol Euler: heheheh
Eliza Madrigal: Night :) Thank you
    Qt Core: bye Eliza
Eliza Madrigal: Oh, that's great actually Qt
Eliza Madrigal: just anything to switch it up
Eliza Madrigal: Stim used to say malls could be like running around in a giant mandala
Qt Core: and more choices in (mostly junk) food
    Wol Euler smiles.
    Eliza Madrigal: ohhh, yes fooooood
Qt Core: in past (worse) years, shopping was my almost chance for me time
    Qt Core: +only
Eliza Madrigal: I get that. Sometimes I go sit in my car
Wol Euler: that's one of the reasons I walk to and from work (used to)
    Wol Euler: time alone
    Wol Euler nods to eliza
Eliza Madrigal: must be nice to have that daily routine
    Wol Euler: it was
Eliza Madrigal: when first in SL I used to just walk and walk as an avatar, which seems so strange now
    Wol Euler: yess!
Wol Euler: same, I never flew anywhere
Eliza Madrigal: exploring mountains and whole sims on foot

Tura Brezoianu: I remember when you were charged 10L$ to teleport
    Wol Euler: O.O
Eliza Madrigal: Wow, I don't remember that!
Wol Euler: before my time too
Tura Brezoianu: I think they got rid of that pretty early
Qt Core: same here, i love local teleport, the double click one
Eliza Madrigal: like the photo fee... interesting

    --BELL--

Eliza Madrigal: Had never heard of that
Eliza Madrigal: okay really going now.... thanks and be well, friends <3
    Eliza Madrigal: Night
    Wol Euler: bye <3
    Tura Brezoianu: goodnight everyone
Wol Euler: I will head off too
Wol Euler: goodnight, take care, stay healthy
Qt Core: 'night all, stay safe

    Update:

Sansar was the Lindens making a new SL for VR headsets. It had many other problems, development stopped and it was sold to Wookey Project Corp. who are going for online live entertainment venues.

High Fedelity was a company by the original founder of Linden. It almost became a SL replacement, but all of a sudden stopped, no reports of why. It had some great tech ideas. A new Beta release of a completely different product has just appeared in the same corp website. A 3D 'Spatialized audio experience' for meeting with up to 50 (or 150 paid) people in a room/bar/club/hall.
