    Agatha Macbeth: Lizzie! ♥♥
    Eliza Madrigal: Aggers!
Eliza Madrigal: Don't you look cute
    Agatha Macbeth: As always ;)
    Eliza Madrigal: :) yes
    Agatha Macbeth: How goes it?
    Eliza Madrigal: complicated... too complicated....
    Eliza Madrigal: for you??
Agatha Macbeth: For me it's always complicated! :p

    --BELL--

Agatha Macbeth: You've been changing slots so often lately I keep losing you
Eliza Madrigal: Thursday seems to work a little better than Monday
    Agatha Macbeth: Good :)
Eliza Madrigal: and I think Aph is enjoying the change
Eliza Madrigal: so I feel happy
Agatha Macbeth: Yes, this used to be mine

Agatha Macbeth: Well I'm glad to hear that
    Agatha Macbeth: How's the cat?
    Eliza Madrigal: which?
    Agatha Macbeth: Both :p
Eliza Madrigal: cat here is on the balcony now. He is super happy that he gets to go out there and pretend he is going to leap for a squirrel or bird
    Agatha Macbeth: Aww
Agatha Macbeth: Has the other one got a bus pass yet?
Eliza Madrigal: cat away is still mischievous but I've not seen her enough
    Agatha Macbeth: :)
Eliza Madrigal: Scotch can't have a bus pass because Amber is the driver and he is crotchety
    Agatha Macbeth grins

Agatha Macbeth: You've had a pretty upheavie year no?
    Agatha Macbeth: Lots of change
    Eliza Madrigal nods...
Agatha Macbeth: Just hope you're coping
Eliza Madrigal: I'm not sure why it happens this way in my life generally, but it seems like there is a feast/famine pattern
    Agatha Macbeth: Hm
Eliza Madrigal: I'm not sure how I'm coping, tbh
Eliza Madrigal: I'll ask myself later
Agatha Macbeth: And is this the feast or the famine?
Eliza Madrigal: hm... well it was seeming like everything was just about to blossom...
Eliza Madrigal: then there came a story twist
    Agatha Macbeth: Ah
Eliza Madrigal: so now I have a sort of half blossoming effect
    Agatha Macbeth: Such happens
Eliza Madrigal: with a few obstacles to spending time in the garden
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Oh the garden!

Eliza Madrigal: do you notice patterns in your life?
Agatha Macbeth: Hardly been out of lately
    Agatha Macbeth: Hm
    Agatha Macbeth: Well
    Agatha Macbeth: Not really sure
Agatha Macbeth: Everything is gennerally so chaotic anyway I don't notice!
Eliza Madrigal: chaotic in work life?
    Agatha Macbeth: All aspects
Agatha Macbeth: I have learned to be 'flexible' to use the latest buzzword
    Eliza Madrigal smiles
Agatha Macbeth: To the demands of others
Eliza Madrigal: often the trickiest factor
    Agatha Macbeth: Indeed

Agatha Macbeth: Life would be simple if one was alone on a desert island
    Eliza Madrigal: hahaha
Eliza Madrigal: maybe... but there are still the snakes
Agatha Macbeth: Talk about 'dropping atttchments'
Agatha Macbeth: I quite like snakes actually :p
    Agatha Macbeth: And coconut
    Eliza Madrigal: :))
Eliza Madrigal: I find that one of my ways of coping is to regress a bit
    Agatha Macbeth: In what way?
Eliza Madrigal: hm... lately it takes the form of really sappy tv shows
    Agatha Macbeth: Good grief!
Agatha Macbeth: Now that *is* desperation
    Eliza Madrigal giggles
Eliza Madrigal: they are curing my cynicism
    Eliza Madrigal: korean tv mostly
    Agatha Macbeth: Curing, or creating?
    Agatha Macbeth: Korean? Wow
Eliza Madrigal: oh no... definitely not creating...
    Agatha Macbeth: Gangnam style eh
    Eliza Madrigal: yup
Eliza Madrigal: Um... did Kori just pass through?

Agatha Macbeth: Do you still have the dance?
Eliza Madrigal: I bet I do... let me test it
    Agatha Macbeth: K? No
    Agatha Macbeth: Didn't see her

    Agatha Macbeth: YAYY
    Eliza Madrigal: ♬ 헤~이 Sexy Lady~~ ♪♪

Eliza Madrigal: The thing is, SL itself was a regression in the beginning
Eliza Madrigal: so you never know what comes from what
Agatha Macbeth: Ah I needed that
Agatha Macbeth: A regression from RL you mean?
Eliza Madrigal: something silly that took me out of usual patterns
    Agatha Macbeth grins
Eliza Madrigal: ultimately it proved not to be so silly
    Agatha Macbeth: Silly is good!

    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Bleu :))
Agatha Macbeth: Not even oni? :p
    Agatha Macbeth: Bleuji :)
    Bleu Oleander: hey hiya
Agatha Macbeth: I thought I saw Korel then too
Eliza Madrigal: yes she's behaving strangely ^^
Agatha Macbeth: Just a quick flash
    Agatha Macbeth: Hi K

Eliza Madrigal: Bleu so far we've been discussing life patterns, but no fixed topic
Agatha Macbeth: Now where is she?
Bleu Oleander: life patterns ... any interesting ones?

    --BELL--

Agatha Macbeth: Regression mostly it seems
Agatha Macbeth: Just IMing with K, seems to be having probs
Eliza Madrigal: for some, seasons of life flow together
Eliza Madrigal: (she is signing in from Africa I think, so that might be why)
    Agatha Macbeth: Oh right
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Qt :)
    Bleu Oleander: hi Qt
Qt Core: Hi Eliza, Bleu, Agatha
    Agatha Macbeth: Buona sera QT
Agatha Macbeth: She's trying to sit atm

Eliza Madrigal: What do you all think about *regret*?
Agatha Macbeth: I just try to avoid it!
    Bleu Oleander: in what sense?
Eliza Madrigal: with age and wisdom (hopefully) there comes a lot clearer view of what was important when, maybe, or sometimes the feeling that one could have/should have been a little easier on themselves or others , etc

    Agatha Macbeth: Osiyo :)
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Kori :) If you can stay that way, feel free!
    Qt Core: Hi Korel
    Korel Laloix: Heya
    Bleu Oleander: hi Kori
Agatha Macbeth: Yeh, cut your losses and stay there K

    Agatha Macbeth: Right, regret...
Bleu Oleander: I've regretted saying something but have learned from the experience
Eliza Madrigal: so not regret in the sense that you'd undo it
    Korel Laloix: Heya
Agatha Macbeth: 'Je ne regrette rien' :p
    Eliza Madrigal smiles at Agatha
Bleu Oleander: perhaps regret is a tool to realize that some behavior wasn't the behavior I wanted to do or would do again and so learn from that?
Eliza Madrigal: good point. maybe regret is only a terrible thing when one stagnates there

Korel Laloix: But don't people say you more regrets the things you did not do?
Bleu Oleander: you might apologize if you regretted saying something that you shouldn't have said perhaps?
    Agatha Macbeth: Good point K
Bleu Oleander: process quickly and don't ruminate on it
Eliza Madrigal: maybe not feeling regret at all then, would be tragic
    Korel Laloix looks up ruminate
Eliza Madrigal: but at the end of life, what use?
Eliza Madrigal: unless one really is prepping for another round ^^
Qt Core: as i am quite passive most of my regrets are of that kind, Korel
Bleu Oleander: no, I don't think regretting not completing a "bucket list" for example is worthwhile at the end of life ... by then who cares lol

Agatha Macbeth: 'I must have thought it was a good idea at the time or I wouldn't have done it' (Katharine Hepburn)

Korel Laloix: I have regrets for nots.
Eliza Madrigal: are those kinds of regrets, while one is still living, then, really wishes or plans?
Korel Laloix: Regrets for the way I let people take advantage of me.
    Eliza Madrigal: hah Bleu
    Bleu Oleander: really ... huh?
Korel Laloix: Few regrets for things I have done really.... at least at my age... that might change as the years pass.
Korel Laloix: And I regret some of my regrets, if that makes sense.
Bleu Oleander: what will it matter that I never saw the Grand Canyon before I died? I have so no need to worry about that ha ha!
    Eliza Madrigal: it does!
    Eliza Madrigal: wasted time
Agatha Macbeth: Better still you never fell in it
Eliza Madrigal: oooooh but Bleu, you are soooo close to that one

Qt Core: does english differentiate between remorse (about thing you have said/done) and regret being mostly thing not done ?
Bleu Oleander: did that so no worries :)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Eliza Madrigal: good question Qt.
Bleu Oleander: I don't regret not falling in it ha!
Eliza Madrigal: I think so, but hm... thinking of how to parse
Eliza Madrigal: remorse seems like being in the apology
    Agatha Macbeth: Parse?
Eliza Madrigal: parse the distinction between remorse and regret
Eliza Madrigal: like, if one is remorseful, they are really feeling it fully
Qt Core: thinking about some saying that would translate as "better to have remorses than regrets"
    Agatha Macbeth: Parse the parcel
    Eliza Madrigal: hmm
Bleu Oleander: remorse: deep regret or quilt for a wrong committed
Qt Core: ie having done it and be proven wrong being better not doing nothing
    Eliza Madrigal: so by degrees
Agatha Macbeth ponders a deep quilt
    Bleu Oleander: ha guilt
Eliza Madrigal: who said "fail better" ?
    Agatha Macbeth: Aha
Qt Core: take the not out
    Agatha Macbeth: Not Bill Gates
    Bleu Oleander: remorse quilts :)
    Eliza Madrigal: hehehe
Qt Core: it seems something that cpuld be an Edison quote
Agatha Macbeth: Wonder how Quilty is these days?
Bleu Oleander: probably quilt peeps have thought of that already
    Eliza Madrigal: ah, Beckett
    Agatha Macbeth: Beckett?

    --BELL--

    Agatha Macbeth: Thomas?
    Eliza Madrigal: Sam :)
Eliza Madrigal: “Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.”
    Agatha Macbeth: Oh him
    Eliza Madrigal: yeah, that guy
Agatha Macbeth: Become a prize failure then
Eliza Madrigal: maybe how people handle regret has a lot to do with sense of happiness...

Eliza Madrigal: how is your course going Bleu?
Bleu Oleander: I think its an excellent course
Agatha Macbeth: Wouldn't doubt that Liz
    Bleu Oleander: so far
Bleu Oleander: talking about happiness in the senses of well-being and emotions
    Agatha Macbeth: Aww
Eliza Madrigal: I'm talked out of mine too easily... trying to notice that this happens more and develop strategies about it
Agatha Macbeth: Talked out of your happiness?
Eliza Madrigal: out of a certain momentum
    Agatha Macbeth: Hm
Eliza Madrigal: sometimes people I love dearly think they are helping me by asking a lot of "what if" questions and "what about.." questions, about things I can't figure out yet and if I had those answers I would have addressed it obviously :P
Eliza Madrigal: and after, I feel drained
Agatha Macbeth: Family are good at that
    Eliza Madrigal: yeah :)

Agatha Macbeth: At least the cats give you some respite
    Agatha Macbeth: ^.^
Eliza Madrigal: maybe I'd like the happiness course but instead I'm watching silly tv
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Bleu Oleander: well both can be productive
Agatha Macbeth: Silly TV evidently fulfils a role for you
    Eliza Madrigal: it must
    Agatha Macbeth: Like visual onigokko
    Eliza Madrigal: wg Kori! :)
    Agatha Macbeth: WB K

Bleu Oleander: I personally don't like silly TV but that's just me
Agatha Macbeth: I don't like TV at all
Eliza Madrigal: there is the novelty of it being korean tv
Eliza Madrigal: but it isn't high drama... just sweet and emotional
Bleu Oleander: why are u listening to korean tv?
Agatha Macbeth: Koreans are good at being silly, like Japanese
Eliza Madrigal: a friend recommended a show that had a lot of gender creativity...
Eliza Madrigal: and I wanted to gain a bit of insight
Eliza Madrigal: but then really enjoyed it
Eliza Madrigal: and started looking for others

Bleu Oleander: btw, happiness as in well-being can boost creativity according to the class
Agatha Macbeth: That I can believe
Eliza Madrigal: rather than vice versa?
Qt Core: so how they explain all the sad/suffering/unhappy poets ?
    Agatha Macbeth: Or both?
Agatha Macbeth: Well that's poets for you QT :p
Agatha Macbeth: Would anyone have heard of Sylvia Plath is she'd been happy?
Bleu Oleander: if your creativity is recognized then it probably does boost happiness but maybe not overall well-being perhaps
Korel Laloix looks up sylvia plath
Eliza Madrigal: it is another good question
    Agatha Macbeth: CREATE dammit! ;)

Bleu Oleander: actually they say that "sad artists" thing is a myth
Eliza Madrigal: as a sort of aside, recent research is overturning the idea that depression is about seratonin levels, which challenges the way it has been treated for a long time
Bleu Oleander: I was surprised by that
Agatha Macbeth: Do people prefer to be happy or sad?
Eliza Madrigal: Bleu, that's what I've heard recently too... but then why do we seem to remember the sad creatives more?
Bleu Oleander: because they write great stuff lol
    Eliza Madrigal: I prefer meaning
Qt Core: thay make us happier as not jealous of their happyness ?
    Qt Core: ;-)
Eliza Madrigal: sometimes I'm happiest when I am really moved by something... even if it is a sad something
Eliza Madrigal: maybe I'm just struck by the sense of *alive*
    Agatha Macbeth: Moi aussi
Bleu Oleander: momentary happiness is different than an overall well-being kind of happiness
Eliza Madrigal: momentary happiness shows up on facebook
Bleu Oleander: feelings of reverence and gratitude can make us feel happier
    Eliza Madrigal nods... awe
Bleu Oleander: hard to tell what's true on FB these days
Bleu Oleander: people project what they want to

    --BELL--

Eliza Madrigal: happiness seems like it might be a matter of context too
Eliza Madrigal: right feeling or expression in the right place, right timing
Eliza Madrigal: alignment in some sense
    Eliza Madrigal: creative flow
    Eliza Madrigal: appropriate, authentic?

    Bleu Oleander: http://op-talk.blogs.nytimes.com/201...3A9%22%7D&_r=0
    Eliza Madrigal: clicks
    Bleu Oleander: fun article
    Eliza Madrigal: hahah
    Agatha Macbeth oils Liz
Bleu Oleander: I haven't done that on my FB page :)
Eliza Madrigal: so I can be flexible like you Aggers? hehe :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Mmm dumplings
Eliza Madrigal: I recently added a friend of a friend who posts these amazing meals and photos of Nantucket bike rides... every day
Eliza Madrigal: I thought of dropping him for that
    Eliza Madrigal: hahah
    Eliza Madrigal giggles
    Bleu Oleander: ha!

Agatha Macbeth: I've heard of a Nantucket sleigh ride
    Eliza Madrigal: hmmm
Agatha Macbeth: To do with sperm whailes I believe
    Agatha Macbeth: -i
    Eliza Madrigal: really... googles
Agatha Macbeth: Subject of a favourite song of mine
Eliza Madrigal: aw this is sad...
    Agatha Macbeth: Yes
Eliza Madrigal: and doesn't make me happy to feel sad about it :P
Agatha Macbeth: Don't think the whales saw the funny side
Eliza Madrigal: amazing how what is ok changes from times to times
    Agatha Macbeth: Yes
Agatha Macbeth: At least they get protection now
    Eliza Madrigal nods

Bleu Oleander: remember reading the old man and the seam :)
Bleu Oleander: oops ha ha sea
    Eliza Madrigal: hahaha
    Agatha Macbeth: Seams like it
Eliza Madrigal: my son loves Hemmingway
Agatha Macbeth: For whom the bell tolls
Eliza Madrigal: but recently announced his loathing of Vonnegut
    Eliza Madrigal: @@
Korel Laloix: You are really making me look up stuff today.. smiles
Bleu Oleander: really? I love vonnegut
Agatha Macbeth: He needs educating :p
Eliza Madrigal: I think he just needs more exposure
Eliza Madrigal: but I love his intensity about it
Agatha Macbeth: How can you not like Slaughterhouse 5?
Eliza Madrigal: right.. he hasn't gotten there
    Bleu Oleander: cat's cradle
    Agatha Macbeth: ^.^
    Eliza Madrigal: so it goes
    Agatha Macbeth: Indeed

Eliza Madrigal: Kori where are you signed in from?
Eliza Madrigal: "quilts and seams" may be our title
    Korel Laloix: Eastern Uganda
    Bleu Oleander: lol
    Eliza Madrigal: Oh wow, Kori
    Agatha Macbeth: Good lord
Eliza Madrigal: what is it like?
Bleu Oleander: should take up sewing
    Eliza Madrigal: knitting club
Agatha Macbeth: How's Idi Amin these days?
    Korel Laloix: Dark.
    Korel Laloix: Very different.
Korel Laloix: I read about him. Thing he lives in Saudi Arabia.
Agatha Macbeth: He's still around? Wow
Korel Laloix: Finally something I don't have to look up.. smiles
    Bleu Oleander: :)
    Agatha Macbeth pokes you
Eliza Madrigal: do you feel your talents are being utilized?
Bleu Oleander: context is everything :)
Korel Laloix: He died in 2003
    Agatha Macbeth: Was gonna say
Agatha Macbeth: Must be getting on now
Korel Laloix: But did die in Saudi Arabia

    --BELL--

Bleu Oleander: as in really getting on
Agatha Macbeth: Maybe it was the camels
    Eliza Madrigal: :))
Agatha Macbeth: Wonder where Wollie is?
Eliza Madrigal: Thursdays might not be so easy for Wol?
    Agatha Macbeth: Dunno
Agatha Macbeth: Probably killing orcs again
    Bleu Oleander: ha!
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Agatha Macbeth: Chacun a son gout eh
Eliza Madrigal: I'd like to plan a guardian session but Sundays are up in the air til the last minute for the next 6 or so
    Agatha Macbeth nods
    Agatha Macbeth: Same here
    Eliza Madrigal: I miss them
Bleu Oleander: how about another day?
Agatha Macbeth: Is there anything to plan/discuss?
Eliza Madrigal: would saturday work for others? I think I sent an email but no responses... although I could have dreamed that
    Bleu Oleander: that too
    Agatha Macbeth: Not for me
Bleu Oleander: some sats are ok for me
Agatha Macbeth: Altho would depend on time

Eliza Madrigal: maybe not a lot to discuss, but I think we can look forward to a Chronicles addition sometime soon
    Agatha Macbeth: Oh?
    Bleu Oleander: about?
Agatha Macbeth: Has Adams been busy?
Eliza Madrigal: maybe I should let Adams announce or talk about that, but the idea came up when we were discussing wrap up ideas before
    Agatha Macbeth: Ah
Eliza Madrigal: and it doesn't feel like the group is wrapping up anymore but still seems a nice idea

Eliza Madrigal: It is hard to describe what we're doing now, huh?
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Bleu Oleander: that was my question too
Eliza Madrigal: I have no idea
Eliza Madrigal: but I'm happy we're still meeting
Agatha Macbeth: The WG seems to have died a death of late
Bleu Oleander: nice still seeing everyone
    Agatha Macbeth: Yeh
    Eliza Madrigal: yes
Eliza Madrigal: if there came an idea, then I guess wg would wake up
    Agatha Macbeth nods
Bleu Oleander: maybe we should just meet to touch base?
    Agatha Macbeth: Energy saving WG
Eliza Madrigal: I think so... guardian sessions seem good for our circulation
Eliza Madrigal: hahah ... we're on screen saver mode?
    Agatha Macbeth: Could be
Agatha Macbeth: Do they still have those?

Agatha Macbeth: Put it this way 4.30 - 10 AM is out for me
Agatha Macbeth: 2PM would work for me yes
Eliza Madrigal: 2pm is 5pm for me.... so before dinner and after most productive hours
Bleu Oleander: 2 pm may work for me
Eliza Madrigal: OK let's try it then!
    Agatha Macbeth: Yay!
Eliza Madrigal: I'll email the group

Eliza Madrigal: see... this is wg in action
Agatha Macbeth: 'Hello group: this is an email'
