The Guardian for this meeting was Wol Euler.

    Wol Euler: hello Qt
    Qt Core: Hi Wol!
Wol Euler: how have you been?`
Qt Core: busy, on several front ;-) you ?
    Wol Euler: same
Wol Euler: and no internet for two weeks :(
Wol Euler: still, christmas is coming and with it, two weeks off
Qt Core: ouch, that hurts... or detoxify...
Qt Core: the lack of internet, not the two week off ;-)
    Wol Euler: heheh
    Wol Euler: I gathered
Wol Euler: actually it was not so bad, once I got over the rage at the incompetence
Wol Euler: I did a lot of reading, went to bed on time ...

    --BELL--

Qt Core: i become so addicted that once i used the phone wifi hotspot to surf from my pc, and i just was without connectivity for a couple days
Qt Core: (ian really starting to think i'm too addicted to reading news, even stupid ones)
    Wol Euler nods
Wol Euler: I know what you mean
Wol Euler: that was one thing I enjoyed during my two weeks without internet: it was so quiet.
    Wol Euler: so peaceful
Qt Core: in a sick idea of living by proxy i fear
    Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: there is definitely that.
Qt Core: there are a few diets that suggest fasting a day a week or two days a months or something like that, it may help starting something like that about tech
Qt Core: but then there would be the flood when coming back online ;-)
    Qt Core: wb
Wol Euler: well, that was strange
    Wol Euler: ty

    --BELL--

Wol Euler: sudden instant SL failure.
Qt Core: i had sl lamenting no being able to connect to voice servers for a couple days a week ago (not really something i need ;-) )
    Wol Euler: oddities abound
Qt Core: may i ask you how the italian constitutional referendum was delivered on your side of the news (if it ever was) ?
    Wol Euler: heheheheh
Wol Euler: I didn't hear a word of it, sorry.
Wol Euler: what was the question, and how did the voting go?
Qt Core: basically changing the nature of parliament, from a perfect bicameralism (where laws and government has to be voted by both house) to one where only one house while the other is interested (mostly) in local and eu related laws
Qt Core: plus the abolition of a constitutional required economic studies body
Wol Euler: and somebody standing in the middle can get his personal agenda pushed through with only half the scrutiny it had before?
    Qt Core: why not ;-)
Qt Core: the "other" house could ask to vote on whatever law the main house passed but then it'll go back for a definitive vote to the main one
Qt Core: that said the vote was 60% against it
    Wol Euler: good
Wol Euler: (seems good to me, not knowing the details)
Qt Core: the thinks that mostly irritated me was that the new "local and eu" house members would not have been elected in a direct vote but they would be voted by majors and regional parliament members... between majors and regional parliament members
Qt Core: so prople with two jobs would not do either well
    Wol Euler: o.O

    --BELL--

Wol Euler: same people in both houses? that can't be right
Qt Core: no, same people in regional parliament or as a major and an house
    Wol Euler: oh I see
Wol Euler: political appointments, it would be easy to suspect that they would owe gratitude and be expected to show it.
Qt Core: it was sold under a "would you like to lower the costs of politics" banner (as the reformed house would have been smaller than the present one)
Wol Euler: and bought to the people who replace brake pads in their car with brioches, because those are cheaper.
Wol Euler: what could go wrong?
Qt Core: as the reform was backed even named by the prime minister he resigned
    Wol Euler: O.O
Qt Core: but the funniest thing is that the republic president asked him to wait a couple day to let the houses vote for the budget act... so to speed up the thing he asked a confidence vote on it and he got it... so he was able to resign (i love italian politics)
    Wol Euler smiles.
Qt Core: there is a quite nice wikipedia article (in english) about this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italia...ferendum,_2016
    Wol Euler: ah, ty
Qt Core: and the official question was: Do you approve the text of the Constitutional Law concerning 'Provisions for overcoming equal bicameralism, reducing the number of Members of Parliament, limiting the operating costs of the institutions, the suppression of the CNEL and the revision of Title V of Part II of the Constitution' approved by Parliament and published in the Official Gazette no. 88 of 15 April 2016?
Qt Core: a very important detail is that we got to vote on it only because in the parliament it wasn't approved with a majority of 75%

    --BELL--

    Qt Core: sorry 66%
    Wol Euler: hmmmm
Wol Euler: surely the government should not be able to change its form single-handed without reference to the public?
Wol Euler: else what is to stop them from declaring a king and disbanding themselves?
Qt Core: on the idea that no party or coalition will ever have more than 66% if more than that vote on it it seems that a vote is not needed
Qt Core: and it is not even required, only permitted and it has to be asked, with the rules of referendums, a number of citizens or a number of region or the government (as in this case the government that proposed it asked for the popular vote)
Qt Core: a part of it that was very disliked and opposed (especially by the five star movement) is that it is explicitly stated that eu laws have precedence on italian laws (i'm partly against it in the form that not eu state have/plan to have something like that)
    Wol Euler nods.
Qt Core: (and with this i'm wondering of this is going to be too political as in biased toward informative ;-) )
Qt Core: not eu states = not all eu states
Wol Euler: ah ty :) I wondered
    Wol Euler sighs.

Wol Euler: I have to get started on the day, I'm working this afternoon.
Qt Core: and i have shopping this afternoon... i may prefer work ;-)
    Wol Euler: heheheh
    Wol Euler: take care, Qt
Qt Core: have a nice weekend
    Wol Euler: you too
