The Guardian for this meeting was Aph. The comments are by Aggers.
Aphrodite Macbain's current display-name is "Aph".
Agatha Macbeth: Greetingsu
Eliza Madrigal: Hello Stargazer, Aph :)
Aphrodite Macbain: Hello Eliza and Aggers
Aphrodite Macbain: What's new?
Agatha Macbeth: Don't get yer dress wet Aphie
Aphrodite Macbain: I'm trying not to.
Aphrodite Macbain: I am giving a tourn of 18th century Sorrentina after this so I'm trying to dress the part
Aphrodite Macbain: tour
Agatha Macbeth: Oh how cute
Aphrodite Macbain: I should probably wear a hat too
Agatha Macbeth: Are you the official guide now?
Eliza Madrigal: You look lovely :)
Aphrodite Macbain: aww
Agatha Macbeth: Yeh
Aphrodite Macbain: thanks Eliza
Agatha Macbeth: Lady Aph
Aphrodite Macbain: heh
Aphrodite Macbain: Not sure how I'm goig to tour the island in an hour
Aphrodite Macbain: I'm giving them n/cs
Eliza Madrigal: Just have to give a light outline I guess
Agatha Macbeth: Big island?
Aphrodite Macbain: yes
Bruce Mowbray's current display-name is "Bruce".
Eliza Madrigal: how large a group?
Agatha Macbeth: Oh my
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Tura :)
Aphrodite Macbain: You've been there Aggers
Agatha Macbeth: Oh
Aphrodite Macbain: Hiya Tura
Agatha Macbeth: Hello Tu
Agatha Macbeth: Don't recall
Aphrodite Macbain: I think
Eliza Madrigal: lots to see
Aphrodite Macbain: Hi Bruce
Eliza Madrigal: and they have to change first, right?
Agatha Macbeth: And Brucie
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Bruce :)
Tura Brezoianu: hi all you invisible voices. I think I need to relog.
Eliza Madrigal: oh dear
--BELL--1.00
Bruce Mowbray: Hi, Aph, aggers, Eliza, and Tura.
Agatha Macbeth: Erk
Aphrodite Macbain: the people who live there s/b in icostume
Agatha Macbeth: S/B?
Bruce Mowbray: ooops. Tura poofed.
Aphrodite Macbain: I think u got us all Bruce!
Aphrodite Macbain: should be
Agatha Macbeth: Ah
Aphrodite Macbain: wb Tura
Agatha Macbeth: WB Tu
Eliza Madrigal: All better?
Bruce Mowbray: Hi, Tura.
Agatha Macbeth: Any luck?
Tura Brezoianu: hi all. I can see you now.
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Agatha Macbeth: Woot
Aphrodite Macbain: I can see you too!
Agatha Macbeth: And a lovely bunch we are too
Aphrodite Macbain: beautiful!!
Bruce Mowbray: :)
Aphrodite Macbain: Should we start or wait a bit?
Bruce Mowbray: hmmmm.
Eliza Madrigal: Seems fine to start, unless there is an official 'opening' ?
Bruce Mowbray: no Riddle yet.
Aphrodite Macbain: Nope
Aphrodite Macbain: True
Bruce Mowbray: I'll move closer...
Bruce Mowbray: :)
Aphrodite Macbain: He's not on line
Bruce Mowbray: Fine with me to start, if you wish.
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Aphrodite Macbain: Harari said "the most important thing I realized was that the deepest source of my suffering is in the patterns of my own mind>"
Agatha Macbeth watches Brucie flying around
Aphrodite Macbain: So, he suggests, meditation is a good way to observe these patterns.
Aphrodite Macbain: I thought he kinda hit the nail on the head there/
Aphrodite Macbain: What do you think?
Eliza Madrigal: I appreciate when he steps away from prophesying to talk about his personal experience
Bruce Mowbray: How does "suffering" fit in with the other themes of this book?
Bruce Mowbray: I appreciate it too, Eliza, but did he connect the two?
Aphrodite Macbain: the patterns of our thinking reinforce suffering
Eliza Madrigal: He mentions that concepts can't suffer, but people can
Eliza Madrigal: and he talks about his own
Bruce Mowbray nods . . .
Aphrodite Macbain: we react in predictable ways
Agatha Macbeth: Good point
Aphrodite Macbain: I'm just not sure how this awareness helps
Aphrodite Macbain: myself or the rest of the world
Bruce Mowbray: So, if we change our mind patterns, we'll be better able to defend ourselves against AI overlords?
Eliza Madrigal: he doesn't say it this way, but I always think of the second arrow (ie the suffering that we add in on top of what is there)
Eliza Madrigal: Good question Bruce, I'm not convinced!
Aphrodite Macbain: or at least we wont be adamant about our perspective
Aphrodite Macbain: yes- teh second arrow usually hurts worse
Bruce Mowbray: Of course, it is survival-enhancing to be more aware - more mindful - but does her say that will help us with what he has prophesied ?
Bruce Mowbray: he say*
Aphrodite Macbain: yes Bruce. I just dont know whether I can control those emotions
Eliza Madrigal: a lot of arguments with people consist of each in thier own worlds arguing with people who aren't there anymore ... 'stories' going on individually
Aphrodite Macbain: nods
Bruce Mowbray: Wouldn't the AIs just make more databanks with our new mind patterns?
Aphrodite Macbain: HOw depressing
Agatha Macbeth: I always associate arrows with Cupid
Bruce Mowbray: :)
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Bruce Mowbray: especially in February.
Agatha Macbeth: Yeh
Agatha Macbeth: Get the point
Eliza Madrigal: He does also talk about stories also being of romance... so some of that simulating we do is very enjoyable
Bruce Mowbray: I'm sort of arguming a devil's advocate position, of course.
Bruce Mowbray: arguing*
Agatha Macbeth: A Lucifer's exponent
Aphrodite Macbain: "To become trustworthy anthropologists we must learn how to observe human cultures in a methodical and objective manner, free from preconceptions and prejudices." He says
Aphrodite Macbain: So maybe meditating helps us become objective and methodical
Eliza Madrigal nods, trust is an interesting point
Aphrodite Macbain: You're being methodical Bruce!
Agatha Macbeth: Don't think it does for me
Aphrodite Macbain: I feel he's speaking of a perfect world
Eliza Madrigal: I think I trust people who I perceive as having done introspective work... somehow think they are less likely to exclude themselves from equations, blaming others, etc.
Aphrodite Macbain: nods
Eliza Madrigal: facing their own part of things
Aphrodite Macbain: calm objective people are more trustworthy?
Eliza Madrigal: not sure they're always calmer ^.^
Eliza Madrigal: just... it takes humility to do that work
Bruce Mowbray: Perhaps we ought not equate "calmer" with "less reactive."
Aphrodite Macbain: He does observe, Bruce, that algorithms and technology make it impossible to observe the reality of themselves. But we could at least make the effort to look at things realistically
--BELL--1.15
Bruce Mowbray: I agree,
Aphrodite Macbain: "Just observe"
Bruce Mowbray nods.
Bruce Mowbray: Your question in the email had to do with "procrastination."
Eliza Madrigal: yes that was interesting Aph
Bruce Mowbray: hmmmm....
Aphrodite Macbain: I thought it was a way of putting off decisons
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, it surely could be, I suppose.
Aphrodite Macbain: just being a neutral observer means you dont have to act
Bruce Mowbray: Maybe it could also be a method for making decisions.
Aphrodite Macbain: does it?
Eliza Madrigal: we're always acting, even if we try not to
Aphrodite Macbain: true
Bruce Mowbray: Sort of letting the decision find us, as it were.
Aphrodite Macbain: BUt not always deliberately
Aphrodite Macbain: yes
Eliza Madrigal: but I know what you mean, yes... not always stepping up to take responsibility
Bruce Mowbray: Maybe like, lettings our dreams dream us - rather than our dreaming them.
Aphrodite Macbain: yes Eliza
Aphrodite Macbain: exactly
Aphrodite Macbain: I find I can do that very easily
Aphrodite Macbain: Be an "innocent bystander"
Aphrodite Macbain: watching the news as tho it were a soap opera
Aphrodite Macbain: Especially these dasy!
Aphrodite Macbain: and days
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Bruce Mowbray: Now, THERE's something that meditation could help calm!
Agatha Macbeth: Dasy...dasy...
Aphrodite Macbain: :)
Eliza Madrigal erases line since Bruce said it
Eliza Madrigal: lol
Aphrodite Macbain: lol
Bruce Mowbray: lolol
Agatha Macbeth: 'This is highly irregular Dave'
Aphrodite Macbain: I feel that it becomes entertainment that we passively watch
Aphrodite Macbain: and observe at a distance
Eliza Madrigal: I've seen meditative people less likely to be sort of carried along... but, it may also matter what kind of meditation or view behind the meditation is going on
Bruce Mowbray: Oh Lordy, give me MORE distance!
Aphrodite Macbain: Does meditating enhance passivity?
Bruce Mowbray: I feel that it enhances balance.
Eliza Madrigal: Eos's background : "Be decisive, know what is, see clearly"
Aphrodite Macbain: You feel or you have observed?
Tura Brezoianu: A lot of it seems that it could encourage passivity.
Bruce Mowbray: passivity sounds like escapism.
Aphrodite Macbain: I am curious about action that we take
Aphrodite Macbain: or dont
Eliza Madrigal: I attribute my own passivity to not enough spiritual practice :)
Aphrodite Macbain: nods at Tura
Tura Brezoianu: let everything go, observe emotions arising and passing away, and so on
Aphrodite Macbain: really Eliza?
Bruce Mowbray: Me too, Eliza.
Eliza Madrigal: definitely
Tura Brezoianu: But what you need depends on where you are.
Aphrodite Macbain: How does that work Eliza?
Bruce Mowbray: adn spiritual practice can help show you where you are.
Bruce Mowbray listens.
Eliza Madrigal: please continue Bruce
Aphrodite Macbain: Nods- and allows us to be more objective and neutral?
Aphrodite Macbain: Listens to Bruce
Bruce Mowbray: Well, I feel that correct action requires both balance and poise...
Aphrodite Macbain: and Eliza
Aphrodite Macbain: and Tura and Aggers
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Aphrodite Macbain: :)
Bruce Mowbray: and meditation (spiritual work) enhances both fo those.
Eliza Madrigal nods, one can gain confidence to act, and have longer lasting (lifetime or more ;-) changes.
Bruce Mowbray: Confidence to act - or confidence in one's decision NOT to act.
Aphrodite Macbain: So you are interested in the way correct action is arrived at Bruce?
Bruce Mowbray: I am, ideed.
Aphrodite Macbain: Nods Makes sense
Bruce Mowbray: "right action" as the 8-fold Path says.
Aphrodite Macbain: nods
Bruce Mowbray: indeed*
Eliza Madrigal: it doesn't fix everything... not a magical solution
Eliza Madrigal: but.
Bruce Mowbray: would help to practice right typing, too.
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Aphrodite Macbain: no but it may improve things a bit
Aphrodite Macbain: :)
Bruce Mowbray: Right now I'm deciding NOT to help my neighbor who wants me to bail him out of jail. . . .
Bruce Mowbray: or rather, I'm deciding to help him by letting him stay in jail, until his trial.
Eliza Madrigal: I like what Stim would talk about... learning to be responsive, rather than reactive
Bruce Mowbray: where he might have time to think, to sort things out....
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, responsive -- excellent.
Eliza Madrigal: so not turning away, but not having buttons pushed
Aphrodite Macbain: It feels like there is a tendency now to sit back and watch - there is a fear of reprisal. How could meditating change this? What response would be appropriate?
Eliza Madrigal: you being to 'see' the patterns
Bruce Mowbray: That's what I meant by "poise Eliza.
Bruce Mowbray: "poise", Eliza*
Eliza Madrigal nods... nice word :)
Aphrodite Macbain a balancing act, standing on one toe
Aphrodite Macbain: the toe on the truth
Bruce Mowbray: Everything in nature is in countless balancing acts. . .
Eliza Madrigal: not expecting things to be easy or straight forward, 'staying' until things open more or reveal more in some way
Bruce Mowbray: things are mixing and evening out....
Aphrodite Macbain: nods
Aphrodite Macbain: being patient is hard
Eliza Madrigal: I do think one has to keep the question before themself though, making sure of own motivations
Bruce Mowbray: It takes practice, doesn't it?
Agatha Macbeth: Being a patient is harder
Aphrodite Macbain: yes Bruce :)
--BELL--1.30
Eliza Madrigal: spiritual bypassing is a thing for sure :)
Bruce Mowbray: Imagine all the training (and practice) that really good counselors have to have had.
Aphrodite Macbain: "gets on his horse and gallops off in all directions"
Eliza Madrigal: hehe
Agatha Macbeth: Neigh
Aphrodite Macbain: YA
Aphrodite Macbain: aye
Bruce Mowbray: Some of us get OFF our horses and still gallop off in all directions.
Bruce Mowbray: onigokko
Agatha Macbeth: Erk
Bruce Mowbray: stop
Bruce Mowbray: see?
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Aphrodite Macbain: I think it is also important to be willing to take action, but action that is the result of serious study and attention.
Eliza Madrigal: See, Bruce and I were ready to act!
Agatha Macbeth: Wonder when that came off
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, Eliza and I were poised to act.
Eliza Madrigal giggles
Aphrodite Macbain watches Eliza and Bruce gallop off in all directions
Eliza Madrigal: we can't study everything....
Agatha Macbeth: We can try
Eliza Madrigal: but I think we can hone our own BS detectors
Aphrodite Macbain: :)
Bruce Mowbray: Didn't y ever feel like youir mind was going in all directions?
Aphrodite Macbain: oh yes
Bruce Mowbray: me too.
Aphrodite Macbain: you Bruce?
Bruce Mowbray: oh yeah.
Agatha Macbeth: And none of them ones I wanted
Bruce Mowbray nods.
Aphrodite Macbain: It's often when we are not sure whether to free, flee or fight
Aphrodite Macbain: freeze
Bruce Mowbray: That's when the alarm clock goes off and says "time to get balanced and poised again"
Aphrodite Macbain: I usually freeze
Eliza Madrigal nods
Aphrodite Macbain: dam alarm
Eliza Madrigal: I used to fly and now I do some weird combination of several responses, generally :)
Eliza Madrigal: maybe that's progress
Aphrodite Macbain: I suppose it depends where it gets you
Agatha Macbeth: I just do a Lucy and go WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Bruce Mowbray: Well, maybe Harari is saying that we meditate in order to hear our alarm clocks - those unique ones that ring for us alone, or at least tuned to our individual needs.
Aphrodite Macbain: very appropriate Aggers
Agatha Macbeth: Indeed
Eliza Madrigal: It is very hard to stay in touch with the impermanence of things
Aphrodite Macbain: our alarm clocks but also the regular ticking of habit
Bruce Mowbray: We ARE the impermanence.
Eliza Madrigal: he made the point that meditation teaches you to see things come and go, and that gives you a perspective that is beyond birth and death
Eliza Madrigal: paraphrasing, but that's what I heard
Aphrodite Macbain: impermanence
Bruce Mowbray: Excellent point, Eliza.
Eliza Madrigal: yes
Eliza Madrigal: if you feel crushed by circumstances, what use is it to speak or act
Aphrodite Macbain: nothing stays the same
Aphrodite Macbain: yes- that is the existentialist perspective Eliza
Eliza Madrigal: I feel crushed sometimes, but I also try to then lean on the one who has a wider knowing
Aphrodite Macbain: life is absurd
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Aphrodite Macbain: takes courage to act and wisdom to act properly
Eliza Madrigal: you may never even get validation in your lfietime
Bruce Mowbray: What part of you is not crushed sufficiently for it to be able to "see" that the rest of you is crished? - or feels crushed, anyway.
Aphrodite Macbain: in the face of absurdity
Bruce Mowbray: There is a witness that is not crushed.
Eliza Madrigal: yes Bruce! WHO
Aphrodite Macbain: who is that Bruce?
Bruce Mowbray: That is the Witness.
Aphrodite Macbain: ?
Bruce Mowbray: Cato Kaylyn?
Aphrodite Macbain: eek
Agatha Macbeth: Call the next witness
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Bruce Mowbray: (a hostile witness)
Aphrodite Macbain: yoo hoo
Eliza Madrigal: weird that name was so near to hand, hah
Aphrodite Macbain: In some deep way we are the witness
Eliza Madrigal nods... there is an anchor there
Aphrodite Macbain: to our own actions
Bruce Mowbray: No really.. . . Can you step back from your drama and "see" it for what it is?
Bruce Mowbray: That's the witness I mean.
Bruce Mowbray: and I think that's what Harari is suggesting.
Eliza Madrigal: I feed the witness by looking at photos of space
Bruce Mowbray: OH YES!
Eliza Madrigal: and meditation is the same
Aphrodite Macbain: nods- I really think we have an observer and an actor running us
Aphrodite Macbain: It is all inside us, not outside
Tura Brezoianu: "Divided attention", being in a situation and aware of yourself being in that situation
Bruce Mowbray: Our here in the country, we can see the space. . . so humbling and so beautiful.
Aphrodite Macbain: yes Tura
Bruce Mowbray: I long for such "divided attention" ---
Eliza Madrigal: sounds like a bad thing when we talk about it as being on cell phones while talking with someone :) [divided attention]
Tura Brezoianu: I think that's being in two situations at once and unaware of yourself in either
Bruce Mowbray: A couple of nights ago I watched the movie BEN IS BACK, and when it was over I suddenly realized that I'd been entirely DOCUSED on the movie for two hours.
Bruce Mowbray: It came as a shock.
Eliza Madrigal nods... an unaware of the other for sure
Agatha Macbeth: Multitasking is the opium of the people
Bruce Mowbray: FOCUSED not Docused*
Aphrodite Macbain: Docussing is what we strive for
Eliza Madrigal: heheh
Bruce Mowbray: nonononon
Bruce Mowbray: please fix that one, aggers.
Eliza Madrigal: I think that's why so many believe in eternity... having some sense of that witness who isn't fazed
Aphrodite Macbain: I wonder whether, at this stage, we should begin to discuss our next book reading as we have 15 mins left
Eliza Madrigal: timeless time
Bruce Mowbray: You mean God?
Aphrodite Macbain: who?
Bruce Mowbray: ahhh .... timeless time. I like that.
Aphrodite Macbain: never enough of it
--BELL--1.45
Aphrodite Macbain: I wonder whether, at this stage, we should begin to discuss our next book reading as we have 15 mins left
Eliza Madrigal: Well, the next book is supposed to be The Path, but a host is needed... it is a book both Storm and Bleu liked
Aphrodite Macbain: ah
Bruce Mowbray: Did you have a suggestion for a next book, Aph?
Aphrodite Macbain: No
Aphrodite Macbain: I
Bruce Mowbray: Ohh.. The Path. . . Pease remind me.
Bruce Mowbray: Please*
Aphrodite Macbain: yes, me too
Eliza Madrigal: It is a book about Chinese traditions/wisdom
Aphrodite Macbain: The Way...
Bruce Mowbray: hmmmm.
Agatha Macbeth: Ooh
Agatha Macbeth: Kewl
Eliza Madrigal: but very accessible and, I found it a good potential group book
Eliza Madrigal: Puett is the author's last name
Aphrodite Macbain: sounds interesting but we'd need Storm or Bleu to set things up
Eliza Madrigal: You have the book as well Tura?
Agatha Macbeth: If it feels good, Puett
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Aphrodite Macbain looks at Tura
Tura Brezoianu: I think I do
Agatha Macbeth looks at Tura too
Aphrodite Macbain: can I get it on line?
Eliza Madrigal: I'm stepping back from PaB for a while, but I'd love to be able to peek in and read sessions. I was looking forward to organizing it but I have some 'can't put off any longer' acts to accomplish
Agatha Macbeth: That sounds bad
Bruce Mowbray: https://www.amazon.com/Path-Chinese-.../dp/1476777845
Eliza Madrigal: what I hope is that this mind, made so wise and dynamic and expansive by meditation, will so dazzle some wonderful employer, that I'll be back soon with better balanced life :)
Eliza Madrigal grins
Aphrodite Macbain: grins at Eliza
Agatha Macbeth: Best of luck with that
Eliza Madrigal: ha
Aphrodite Macbain: I have no doubt about that
Bruce Mowbray: Yeah, good luck, Eliza.
Eliza Madrigal: thank you :)
Aphrodite Macbain: It's available through Kindle for 15$
Eliza Madrigal: what do you think of the book at first glance?
Bruce Mowbray: I'm up for it.
Aphrodite Macbain: "For the first time, an award-winning Harvard professor shares his wildly popular course on classical Chinese philosophy, showing you how ancient ideas—like the fallacy of the authentic self—can guide you on the path to a good life today. Why is a course on ancient Chinese philosophers one of the most popular at Harvard
Aphrodite Macbain: quote from Amazon
Aphrodite Macbain: I'm up for it too
Aphrodite Macbain: We will have to see whether storm or Bleu can facilitate
Agatha Macbeth: Ol' Medusa Nordwind
Aphrodite Macbain: lol
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Aphrodite Macbain: It's a great art work isn't it?
Agatha Macbeth: Yep
Eliza Madrigal is patiently staying away from the projects until the weekend
Aphrodite Macbain: Smart lady. I was too curious
Bruce Mowbray: audible version: https://www.audible.com/pd/The-Path-...SR0N2KCF7XDMN&
Aphrodite Macbain: Bleu has also made some wonderful works in her other gallery
Aphrodite Macbain: Thanks Bruce
Bruce Mowbray: yw.
Agatha Macbeth: Bleu is amazing
Aphrodite Macbain: Yes!
Eliza Madrigal: indeed
Bruce Mowbray nods, agrees.
Aphrodite Macbain: She was so helpful to me in making my piece. A patience that knows no bounds!
Eliza Madrigal: she sent me many things to help too... but um. :)
Agatha Macbeth: Um?
Eliza Madrigal: um, I still didn't finish in time :)
Agatha Macbeth pokes you
Eliza Madrigal: hehe
Eliza Madrigal: btw, I heard something nice about the goddess Aphrodite the other day... that she is so used to compliments that she is really only moved when others find beauty in unexpected places
Bruce Mowbray: Ahhh!
Eliza Madrigal: probably something everybody knows, but somehow I hadn't heard that :)
Agatha Macbeth: Well now
Bruce Mowbray loves finding beauty in unexpected places.
Tura Brezoianu: I like that.
Aphrodite Macbain: I had no idea- but I like it. :)
Aphrodite Macbain: There are so many beautiful unexpected places. You just have to slow down
Bruce Mowbray: I'm working on a theory that the substrate of all existence is Beauty.
Aphrodite Macbain likes that
Eliza Madrigal: he says casually
Agatha Macbeth: And the Beast
Bruce Mowbray: (It's not an original idea, actually.)
Tura Brezoianu: There's another event I'm going to on the hour, so I need to leave a little sharp today.
Aphrodite Macbain: Beauty is truth, truth beauty
Eliza Madrigal: Oh, bye Tura, see you soon
Agatha Macbeth: Stay sharp Tu
Bruce Mowbray: Me too. Bye for now, everyone.
Aphrodite Macbain: Bye Tura
Aphrodite Macbain: Thanks for all your contributions
Tura Brezoianu: See you all...whenever we reconvene with the next book.
Eliza Madrigal: https://www.instagram.com/astro_taner/
Aphrodite Macbain: Bye Bruce
Agatha Macbeth: That was quick
Aphrodite Macbain: and I have to fly off to Sorrentina
Eliza Madrigal: a little bang
Agatha Macbeth: Guide well Aph
Aphrodite Macbain: :) thanks.
Eliza Madrigal: bye Aph! have a good tour
Aphrodite Macbain: I dont know why that happens. It does it each time I try and stand
Aphrodite Macbain: Thanks everyone
Aphrodite Macbain: Hugs
Agatha Macbeth: Adios
Eliza Madrigal: Thank you!
And now for a quick quiz
Agatha Macbeth: And I just crunched my way through the last of a cabbage
Eliza Madrigal: yum
Eliza Madrigal: do you like kimchi?
Agatha Macbeth: Dunno her
Eliza Madrigal: red pepper paste cabbage, fermented
--BELL--2.00
Agatha Macbeth: Good heavens
Eliza Madrigal: served with almost everything in Korea
Agatha Macbeth: Doubtless it's on Wiki
Agatha Macbeth: Ahh gangnam style
Eliza Madrigal: probably in your grocery store now... gotten very popular
Agatha Macbeth: Probably
Agatha Macbeth: Where would we be without Korean grocers
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: in that sense, this is a very neat time to be alive
Agatha Macbeth: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kimchi
Eliza Madrigal: can eat so many foods from so many places
Agatha Macbeth: Yes there it is
Agatha Macbeth: And if we can't eat we can look at them
Eliza Madrigal smiles
Eliza Madrigal: I've learned to make a bunch of things, but I don't have enough people around who can tell me whether they are correct or not
Eliza Madrigal: Not sure cabbage is enough for dinner, though :)
Agatha Macbeth: You need cooking approval?
Eliza Madrigal: yes! I want the stamp of OHMYGOODNESSHOWDIDYOUDOTHISYOUAREAMAZING
Agatha Macbeth: It certainly cleans your teeth
Agatha Macbeth: But you are amazing
Agatha Macbeth: Just by being
Eliza Madrigal: you're precious, thank you
Agatha Macbeth: No, I'm just me
Eliza Madrigal: that's the eternal perspective I guess... all is perfect
Agatha Macbeth: Hm
Eliza Madrigal: Okay... favorite food?
Eliza Madrigal: (gives you a lightning round quiz)
Agatha Macbeth: Type or country?
Eliza Madrigal: either
Eliza Madrigal: both
Agatha Macbeth: Asian
Eliza Madrigal: noodles or rice?
Agatha Macbeth: India/China
Agatha Macbeth: Anything in between
Agatha Macbeth: Rice
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: favorite get away?
Agatha Macbeth: Get away?
Eliza Madrigal: yes where do you like to escape to
Agatha Macbeth: Top of a mountain
Eliza Madrigal: Nice :)
Eliza Madrigal: favorite memory? (if you can share it)
Agatha Macbeth: Birth of sons
Eliza Madrigal smiles
Eliza Madrigal: yeah, hard to top that :)
Agatha Macbeth: Indeed
Eliza Madrigal: goals currently?
Agatha Macbeth: Hm
Agatha Macbeth: You know, I'm not big on goals
Agatha Macbeth: I just take it as it comes
Eliza Madrigal: I guess sort of a trick question..
Eliza Madrigal: favorite song? do you have one?
Agatha Macbeth: And a trick answer
Agatha Macbeth: Oh...
Agatha Macbeth: The Piaf one
Eliza Madrigal: Ohh
Agatha Macbeth: Not Vie en rose, the other one
Eliza Madrigal: I regret nothing
Agatha Macbeth: No, other one :p
Eliza Madrigal: hm....
Agatha Macbeth: Hymne d'amour?
Agatha Macbeth: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0BhwCk0y3A
Eliza Madrigal clicks
Agatha Macbeth oils you
Eliza Madrigal slivers
Eliza Madrigal: slithers, hah
Eliza Madrigal listens... yes this is lovely
Agatha Macbeth: Slivers? Slithers?
Eliza Madrigal: snakes don't sliver... they slither...
Agatha Macbeth: Sliverin' snakes!
Eliza Madrigal: next question.... do you dance?
Eliza Madrigal: (RL avie)
Agatha Macbeth: In SL? or RL?
Agatha Macbeth: Ah
Eliza Madrigal: both either
Eliza Madrigal: in SL I know you do
Agatha Macbeth: In SL all the time, in RL only when I'm alone hehe
Eliza Madrigal grins
Eliza Madrigal: like me, too
Agatha Macbeth: Surprise
Eliza Madrigal smiles
Eliza Madrigal: what a song! I didn't know it. Thank you
Agatha Macbeth: YW
Agatha Macbeth: De rien cherie and all that
Eliza Madrigal: :)
--BELL--1.15
Eliza Madrigal: nice pink, btw
Agatha Macbeth: Supposedly purple :P
Agatha Macbeth: I thought more magenta acyually
Eliza Madrigal: yes, magenta is better
Eliza Madrigal: anyway, like it!
Agatha Macbeth: Not enough blue in it for purple
Eliza Madrigal nods
Eliza Madrigal: bye for now my friend, and see you soon
Agatha Macbeth: TC dear Liz
Agatha Macbeth: Love to Georgie

back on now and I'm looking forward to seeing you all Sunday, 11am SLT for the opening of "Being Framed" and dancing to Zen's music ... come dressed as your favorite work of art or pick one of the art works in the show and dress your avi to coordinate with it!
I really enjoyed Puett's book, but I'm more the 'art guardian' than the Chinese philosophy expert, so not really qualified to lead the discussion ... but would enjoy attending the sessions if we choose this book. Perhaps next thursday we can all bring some suggestions?
