Riddle Sideways: Morning Adams
Adams Rubble: Good morning Riddle :)
Adams Rubble: I'm back watching my RL person have an epic visit to the dentist
Adams Rubble: from watching
Riddle Sideways: an epic movie to waqtch
Riddle Sideways: *watch
Adams Rubble: How are you?
Riddle Sideways: mostly ok and you?
Adams Rubble: I am good
Riddle Sideways: did a silly thing yesterday and rode an inner tube down a fast little river
Adams Rubble: I did not get a blog post doen today
Adams Rubble: ohhhh. weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Riddle Sideways: bottom is a bit sore from the rocks
Adams Rubble: ouch
Riddle Sideways: many ouchs
Adams Rubble: :(
Riddle Sideways: is ok
Riddle Sideways: ya still have the day to get to the blog
Adams Rubble: yes
Riddle Sideways: read that you finished the book
Adams Rubble: Started reading about Meister Eckhard when i woke up in the middle of the night
Adams Rubble: He said that whoever seeks God in a special way gets the way and misses God who lies hidden in it
Adams Rubble: he was talking about Middle Ages stuff like whipping oneself and wearing sackcloth and ahses
Adams Rubble: ashes
Adams Rubble: but I think it speaks some to relying on a path
Adams Rubble: as opposed to starting at the end
Riddle Sideways: those who think the path is the important part
Riddle Sideways: Or is starting at the end a path also?
Adams Rubble: I think Pema's suggestion is that we do not rely on the path
Riddle Sideways: well, it is hard to come up with one's own new unique path.
Riddle Sideways: easier to follow somebody else's
Riddle Sideways: ㋡
Adams Rubble: :)
Adams Rubble: Something else
Adams Rubble: he said there are three approaches to begin
Adams Rubble: one must be simple as God is simple
Adams Rubble: actually he said the soul must be somple
Adams Rubble: the soul must dwell above itself
Adams Rubble: the soul must be detached from material things
Riddle Sideways: oh! thought you meant Simple Minded,
Adams Rubble: In yesterdays blog, I recounted that I used to be more simple
Adams Rubble: funny how this works
Riddle Sideways: yep
Adams Rubble: simple as in uncluttered, without other motives
--BELL--
Riddle Sideways: ok, so this Soul thing, that is so hard to define and harder to locate
Riddle Sideways: is to dwell above itself
Riddle Sideways: that needs some unwinding
Adams Rubble: I would not have used that word myself because it has much baggage
Adams Rubble: but I think I know what he is getting at
Adams Rubble: it is the part of us that opens to spiritual things
Adams Rubble: it is the mind but not the devil part :)
Riddle Sideways: have already discussed that the Devil mind takes up so much room, that it could be pretty easy to spot the other part
Riddle Sideways: and state that it is Above
Adams Rubble: maybe we can think of it as the tamed mind
Riddle Sideways: that would be nice
Adams Rubble: removing all the chaos of the devil mind
Riddle Sideways: visiting that stillness place
Adams Rubble: I have never had the kind of experiences I once had with Christianity with Buddhism
Adams Rubble: for me Buddhism is more celebrial
Adams Rubble: I just realized that here this morning
--BELL--
Riddle Sideways: great
Riddle Asks a Question and we start to look at PaB early history from the above viewpoint
Riddle Sideways: is it that you came to Buddhism as a student, to study it?
Adams Rubble: I was started looking into Buddhism to understand Chinese sculpture :)
Adams Rubble: then started SL and came looking to learn more and found PaB
Adams Rubble: so I have studied Budhoism to understand the concepts underlying PaB
Adams Rubble: I am a bit of an oddball :)
Riddle Sideways: we all are
Riddle Sideways: found a group of really intelligent folks with a great title of Ways of Knowing
Adams Rubble: PaB was a real find
Riddle Sideways: thought that would be a great place to be able to make the list of all the Ways of Knowing
Riddle Sideways: just after joining, one of the members suggested we could try a different approach
Riddle Sideways: and should venture into a different virtual world
Riddle Sideways: PaB became much easier and yet harder too
Riddle Sideways: resonated though
Adams Rubble: I forget sometimes you were at the first version
Adams Rubble: QUAK?
Riddle Sideways: or was it QWAQ
Adams Rubble: ahhh
Riddle Sideways: little block Lego avatar
Riddle Sideways: with your RL face photo on your head
Riddle Sideways: that was strange by itself
Adams Rubble pulls out pocket version of Chronicles; oh yes, QWAK
Riddle Sideways: ok, thanks
Adams Rubble: yes, it must have felt strange
Adams Rubble: and no hiding one's identity :)
Riddle Sideways: it was a world of very easy presentations, spreadsheets, powerpoints and Word docs
Riddle Sideways: on the walls
--BELL--
Adams Rubble: I remember now that Stim liked those
Riddle Sideways: It seemed that everyone there was a noted professor and expert in their field
Riddle Sideways: each gave lectures in their turn
Riddle Sideways: was so afraid it would be my turn next
Adams Rubble: :)
Adams Rubble: I understand
Adams Rubble: that was the celebral approach :)
Riddle Sideways: yes, very
Riddle Sideways: came into SL and it seemed everybody had trouble walking, dressing, communicating
Riddle Sideways: All were beginners
Adams Rubble: :)
Riddle Sideways: and on the surface the exercises were simple
Riddle Sideways: "Drop what you Have"
Riddle Sideways: Answer "Who are You?", without listing what you Have and Do
Adams Rubble: I think Drop what you have is the same as the soul must be simple as God is simple
Adams Rubble: or similar
Riddle Sideways: similar
Riddle Sideways: no memorizing the names of people with 17 letters in them
Riddle Sideways: just what they said
Adams Rubble: like Nisargadatta
Adams Rubble: :)
Riddle Sideways: copies/pastes that into the pocket version of Google to check
Adams Rubble loses points for showing off
Riddle Sideways: sees self doing That
Riddle Sideways: QWAK used Voice, so those names had to be pronounceded
Riddle Sideways: that was a non-starter
Adams Rubble: hehe
--BELL--
Riddle Sideways: fun to think it all through and yet just sit with a stillness
Adams Rubble: It was very interesting to go over the early history of PaB looking at it from a different perspective
Riddle Sideways: Those sessions that arrived at APAPB and all the twists on letters
Riddle Sideways: was never sure if Pema arrived with them in hip pocket
Riddle Sideways: or made them up on the spot
Adams Rubble: :)
Adams Rubble: Pema was constantly changing directions on us
Adams Rubble: challenging us in new ways
Riddle Sideways: yes, loved that
Adams Rubble: never allowed us to sit comfortably
Riddle Sideways: just when ya thought ya saw a path ㋡
Riddle Sideways: the Playing
Riddle Sideways: the comfort of Being
Riddle Sideways: even while trying to get up 3 steps, open the door to the tea house and get inside
Riddle Sideways: that was the Hardest
Adams Rubble: :)
Adams Rubble: I had practice before I found PaB
Riddle Sideways: some might have thought my sessions outside in nature sitting of the log were more Natural
Adams Rubble: it was nice to have both experiences
Riddle Sideways: so many experiences
Riddle Sideways: so much Playing
Riddle Sideways: helping write the book
Riddle Sideways: book(s)
--BELL--
Riddle Sideways: well, need to go do some other experiences
Adams Rubble: yes
Riddle Sideways: finish building a bike rack
Riddle Sideways: Play
Adams Rubble: I hope you have a very good weekend
Riddle Sideways: hope you do too
Adams Rubble: be careful in those rivers
Riddle Sideways: ㋡
Adams Rubble: thanks for a nice session
Adams Rubble: bye
Adams Rubble: shhhh
Riddle Sideways: by All
