Calvino Rabeni: Fair is every sentient being getting its chance to fully be
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"The tenth and final picture depicts a rotund, smiling, self-contented monk carrying a cloth bag... The homeless monk in the tenth picture is a mysterious figure. One does not know where he comes from. Every place is his home. This illustrates the power of the enlightened bodhisattva to manifest in any form, or take on any personality and walk of life, in order to help living beings. At any time and any place, enlightened ones are prepared to assist others" (221) -- Master Sheng-yen, _Hoofprint of the Ox: Principles of the Chan Path as Taught by a Modern Chan Master_
Not stopping
http://playasbeing.wik.is/Chat_Logs/...hich_sunset%3f
Calvino Rabeni: it is quite common in all
walks of life, to think that there's AN answer
Calvino Rabeni: In a way,we are not here to make answers
Geoff Baily: To give, and that gives them power
Calvino Rabeni: but to keep turning it back to questions
Calvino Rabeni: To form a conclusion is to stop thinking
Geoff Baily: no answers, more questions? ;)
Calvino Rabeni: It is empirical. Any Answer might be further questioned
Wester Kiranov: any answer produces new questions
Repose Lionheart: the answer in the question
Calvino Rabeni: People get impatient to "get to the end of it"
Wester Kiranov: if you're willing to let it give you more questions
Geoff Baily: Newton said 'the bigger is the
island of knowledge the greater is the shoreline of uncertainty'
Calvino Rabeni: good quite
Calvino Rabeni: quote
Wester Kiranov: that's a nice one
Repose Lionheart: nice quote
Geoff Baily: longer*
Geoff Baily: the shoreline...
Repose Lionheart: Coleridge: The mark of a mature mind is its ability to
tolerate ambiguity
Calvino Rabeni: Or, consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds
Already
there in the first place

Wol Euler: that's the great big dirty
secret of life, Zon: we are all making it up as we go along
Mickorod Renard: Zon,,this is exploration,,
Zon Quar: lol..good im at the right plce then
Mickorod Renard: we wont know until we find it
Zon Quar: and then we will find we were looking for that what we already had
Wol Euler: often, yes, like Dorothy.
Qt Core: that is if we recognize It wjen we find It...
Mickorod Renard: yes, exactly,,but it was burried under lifes complications
Zon Quar: and we like digging
Mickorod Renard: yeh,,but maybe the 9 seconds is like comming up for air
Mickorod Renard: perhaps we should forget the digging and
just stay in the air
Play
as dreaming
http://playasbeing.wik.is/Chat_Logs/...Being_Dreaming
Threedee Shepherd: In a dream I watch what
"floats by" my awareness without apparently controlling it. Sounds
alot like an ideal PaB experience
Paradise Tennant: hmm sometimes in a dream ..there is the sense you can relax
and control it .. it is your dream .. I guess the influence of lucidity ?
Eos Amaterasu: So was this 90 secs PaB like a dream?
Eos Amaterasu: Is what I am experiencing right now like a dream?
Eden Haiku: It reminded me my first sessions here.
Threedee Shepherd: dreams involve "impossible" conjunctions in a way
awake awareness does not.

Abiding
in virtue
http://playasbeing.wik.is/Chat_Logs/...nge_Attractors
Yakuzza Lethecus: hehe, and the question
what is virtue, and can virtue be taught ?
Eos Amaterasu: ie, recognizing and dropping fixations as they come up, as you
see them
Eliza Madrigal: yes, shedding what we've added
Eos Amaterasu: so that virtue is not something you define and try to meet
Eliza Madrigal: and maybe preshedding what we're about to add more and more
Eos Amaterasu: but by shedding you just abide in a "virtuous" being
place :-)
Eliza Madrigal: MMMMM
Kindness
in kind
http://playasbeing.wik.is/Chat_Logs/...ss_and_clutter
Storm Nordwind: Sure. People think that
compassion is something they use only when presented with charitable causes,
but it can be practised in the home, every day, with astonishing effect. :)
Eliza Madrigal smiles... yes, generosity in the smallest acts ..
Storm Nordwind: Kindness is underrated, and under exemplified... and one of the
most powerful forces in the world :)
Eliza Madrigal: Hm. I was reading Rumi the other day... about our mind having
two advisors... one generous and one stingy....
Storm Nordwind: Ah yes, i recall that one
Eliza Madrigal: how many things can potentially get in the way of our listening
to the generous advisor.. . love that...
Eliza Madrigal: we have hundreds of little crossroads thoughout our ordinary
day perhaps
Eliza Madrigal: I'd better get back to the work now that you've stirred me to
be kind and generous...heh
Storm Nordwind: :) Wonderful to talk with you!
Eliza Madrigal: Thanks so much Storm!! See you soon
Stability
in instability
http://playasbeing.wik.is/Chat_Logs/...Dream_Research
Calvino Rabeni: SOmeone else, a dreaming
researcher, said that dream objects are very unstable
Calvino Rabeni: I'll get that in a second, ok? :)
Fox Monacular: yes, many people who practice lucid dreaming too say that
Calvino Rabeni: That they have the appearance of stability but not the
actuality
Calvino Rabeni: So the dreamer kind of makes it up again at each point in time,
Calvino Rabeni: pretending there is more continuity than there is.
Fox Monacular: perhaps the same could be said about waking cognition too
sometimes
Calvino Rabeni: Confabulation is a theory that there are many simultaneous
perceptions / interpretations going on, but we are only aware of one at a time.
Calvino Rabeni: Although others happen unconsciously
