Wol Euler was guardian for this session.
Qt Core: Good morning Wol
Wol Euler: buongiorno, Qt
Wol Euler: how are you today?
Qt Core: Sleepy :-) you ?
Wol Euler: similar :)
Wol Euler: planning a nap after lunch
Qt Core: i did that this morning instead, i'd like not to nap this afternoon to go to sleep at a reasonable hour tonight
Wol Euler: I try to do both :)
Wol Euler: but napping is easier than persuading myself to go to bed to sleep
Wol Euler: napping is one of the few things available to me to do, that feels genuinely luxurious.
Qt Core: especially the first few seconds after awaking before one reboot and remember life
Qt Core: (but that happen at mornings too
Wol Euler nods.
--BELL--
Qt Core: today my mind is wandering around two topic, my area lacking 70% of rains for this winter and a friend that is spending a weekend in London... as he found it was cheaper than one in Naples (airplane vs train fares mostly, but then this: http://www.theguardian.com/travel/20...ing-via-berlin)
Wol Euler: lol
Wol Euler: it's been a dry winter here too, we have had some rain this week but not nearly enough to make up for it
Wol Euler: capitalism is crazy, no doubt about it.
Qt Core: bigger rivers ar below normal levels by 3 to 5 meter
Wol Euler: o.O
Qt Core: and there is fear for one of the main stapes grown in northern italy, rice, that should start in march, but with no water...
Wol Euler: right
Wol Euler: it wouldn't take much at all to drop the world into hunger and chaos
Wol Euler: this is why "global warming" is such a bad name for the phenomenon. It doesn't make clear that things will be different afterwards.
Qt Core: yes, it has an almost good sounding name, who would not like something warm against ice-cold or scalding-hot
Wol Euler: mmhmm
Wol Euler: it doesn't make clear that the weather will change. Less rain in some places, more in others. Deserts expanding. Crops that used to grow in a particular place will not do so any longer.
Wol Euler: insects (and animals) that used to be kept in check by cold winters will no longer be, and will move out into previously safe areas
Qt Core: no rain but a couple days ago we had a brief thunder/hail storm, something unheard of in february
Wol Euler: "unheard of weather events" are the new normal
Wol Euler: There's a concept in planning for rainwater on buildings called the "100 year storm", delivering a huge amount of water that you would expect to get only once in a century. The level was set forty years ago. Well, we have had two of those already since 2000.
Qt Core: and with no rain, due to the conformation of northern italy plain pollution stick around here a lot more
--BELL--
Wol Euler: mmhmm
Qt Core: we usually "spend" the law admitted over the limit pollution day for the year in a couple months
Bertram Jacobus: hey folks sry forgot the time ... ;-)
Wol Euler: hallo berti
Qt Core: hi bert!
Bertram Jacobus: ty ... :-))
Bertram Jacobus: good to be ehre ... ty both ...
Qt Core: :-)
Bertram Jacobus: :-)
Wol Euler: we were talking about climate change
Wol Euler: not enough rain this winter, so its going to be a dry spring, bad for the crops
Bertram Jacobus: phone
Bertram Jacobus: sry
Bertram Jacobus: hmmm
Qt Core: and now we have tech to solve this i believe, but still soo greedy
Bertram Jacobus: greedy ?
Wol Euler: I think greed is the issue, yes
Wol Euler: we (society generally, corporations specifically) would rahter make a big profit today and die tomorrow, than make a small profit every day and live on.
Bertram Jacobus: okay. therefor we learn to drop and let go ... ;-)
Qt Core: maybe an asteroid wiping out half of the western population ? <evil laugh="">
Bertram Jacobus: but it would be good to avoid suffering
Qt Core: (when possible, yes)</evil>
<evil laugh="">
--BELL--</evil>
<evil laugh="">Bertram Jacobus: we always can tend to do so , i´m convinced
Wol Euler: individually some of us will, perhaps even many of us. But unless the fifteen people worldwide who rule the corporations destroying the world also change, we are doomed
Bertram Jacobus: and we even do - but don´t know sometimes how to do that ( best )
Wol Euler: even if the fifteen are actually 100 thousand.
Bertram Jacobus: for everything takes influence into everything, it makes sense when we do our best, part, work - above it we do feel better with that
Bertram Jacobus: we can work on what we do, but it´s not always in our power alone what comes out from it - but that doesn´t matter, then
Wol Euler nods.
Bertram Jacobus: :-)
Qt Core: we could do things but are too lazy, i, for an example could go to work with public transportation, my it would take 1.5/2 hours instead of 30 minutes lone in my car
Qt Core: my=but
Bertram Jacobus: i read a very interesting artice a while ago which said : we know so much about the world now and what would be good that we ... mom bi phone again
Wol Euler: :)
Bertram Jacobus: the article said - so we
Bertram Jacobus: can´t do everything what would be best - a kinda dilemma
Bertram Jacobus: i liked this insight !
Bertram Jacobus: which does NOT mean that from now on we don´t want to do as much good as we can - everybody in his range / field / possibilities ...
Bertram Jacobus: and focus th positive things - without loosing a view for the whole
Wol Euler: indeed
Qt Core: time to go burning some gas cooking ;-)</evil>
<evil laugh="">
--BELL--</evil>
<evil laugh="">Wol Euler smiles.
Wol Euler: take care, qt, cook well
Bertram Jacobus: and strenghen to good and take over OUR responsibility for what happens - i´m convinced : there are many who want to have positive development and times change and also th people with power notice how this way better life can become reality
Bertram Jacobus: bye qt and ty
Qt Core: Bye Wol, Berr. HAve fun</evil>
