2017.05.30 07:00 - Saving Chat in Firestorm

It has been a long time since I hosted and the listener treated me very kindly.

I was sitting in the pavilion trying to figure why Firestorm was not saving to my computer when Bleu came to my rescue.

Adams Rubble: they keep changing preferences and then the way to set them

Adams Rubble: every time you update
Adams Rubble: I found the location in my computer and it has IMs but no chat log
Adams Rubble: I was looking for a url I was told about last weeek
Bleu Oleander: hmmm
Adams Rubble: well, I can google it so need to take your time
Bleu Oleander: under backup
Bleu Oleander: it shows my backup path
Adams Rubble: and that saves Chat?
Bleu Oleander: try setting a new backup path maybe?
Bleu Oleander: yes, that's saving my chat
Adams Rubble: OK, I put in a path, thanks
Adams Rubble: what a strange place to put it :)
Bleu Oleander: search your hard drive for chat.txt
Bleu Oleander: that's what my chat file is named
Bleu Oleander: and its in the file named in my backup path
Adams Rubble: testing
Adams Rubble: do you need to stick chat.txt into the backup path?
Bleu Oleander: no
Bleu Oleander: first try searching for it
Bleu Oleander: see if it pops up
Adams Rubble: it is not showing yet
Bleu Oleander: chat.txt is in the file named for my avatar
Bleu Oleander: I'm IMing the firestorm team ... one sec
Adams Rubble: yes, that is where I sent the path
Bleu Oleander: Bleu, type "transcripts location" into prefs search to highlight the spot. Local chat is only saved if you have it set to save.
Bleu Oleander: try that
Bleu Oleander: handy to be a member of the firestorm group ... they're always more than helpful in the group chat

Adams Rubble: test
Bleu Oleander: under the "directories" tab you need to set location for chat logs
Adams Rubble: well I will work on this later :)
Adams Rubble: thank you for your help
Adams Rubble: maybe I need to relog for it all to work
Adams Rubble: It is my only complaint about Firestorm
Bleu Oleander: I think you just have to "set" a location for your conversation logs under the directory tab that's under "Network and files"
Adams Rubble: yes, I did that :)
Bleu Oleander: so yes, then probably need to relog for it to start
Adams Rubble: and then I may have to do it for my alt :)
Adams Rubble: and on the other computer :)

Adams Rubble: I was surprised the chat wasn't there--thought I was on top of these things
Bleu Oleander: whenever I update my FS I always save my settings
Adams Rubble: ohh, now that sounds like a good trick :)
Bleu Oleander: there's a simple youtube video that explains how to update FS that's very helpful

Adams Rubble: the moving of the images from the workspace to the gallery worked like a charm

Bleu Oleander: btw, I can change the title behind the image at the top of the stairs if you want
Bleu Oleander: you can leave it "Art of Self" or I can change it to "Playing as Rubble"
Adams Rubble: I think that is OK. I thought of another title this morning but I had forgotten it by the time I woke up :)
