Eliza Madrigal: Hi Riddle, Hi Eden
    Eliza Madrigal: What a coat!
Eden Haiku: Good morning Riddle, Eliza :)
Eliza Madrigal paused to take photo ^.^
Riddle Sideways: Morning! Eden and Eliza
Riddle Sideways: and Eliza wore the futuristic glowing images
Eliza Madrigal: :) party clothes, getting in the mood
Riddle Sideways: that might possibly work their way into a cake
Eden Haiku: So many things on my screen, I can't distinguish the chat, almost...
Riddle Sideways: Lovingly coats Eden ㋡
Eden Haiku: Lovely dress Eliza :)
Riddle Sideways: said, as if not seen sneak preview yesterday
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: why is your screen cluttered Eden?
Eden Haiku: I like the plural of coats Riddle :)
Eden Haiku: Well, bought many clothes at marketplace.com as recommended by Adams. Loved it. But then, as I was getting dressed, my screen got cluttered with appliers and such. Just got rid of one but there is another one I don't know how to get rid of...
    Eliza Madrigal: Ack
Eden Haiku: Ended up with two coats on, an old hair syle and not much more space on my co.mputer....
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eden Haiku: But good news, my sceond cold of the winter seems to be over. Enough of me...

Riddle Sideways: not making it encouraging to learn mesh dressing
Eden Haiku: How are you doing this morning?
Eliza Madrigal: excellent news, about your cold
    Riddle Sideways: second cold? already
Eden Haiku: Yes. Usually I have zero cold...
Riddle Sideways: OH! it is almost Feb
Eden Haiku: Guess I have been tired...
Eden Haiku: Going to Cuba for 2 weeks in February-March...:)
Riddle Sideways: this has been a bad cold and flu year
Eliza Madrigal: Nice! Wave to me
    Riddle Sideways: wow
Eden Haiku: Will be missing sessions Feb 26th and March 5th.
    Riddle Sideways: awwww!
    Eliza Madrigal: will fix calendar
Eden Haiku: No good Wi-Fi anywhere in Cuba. They are afraid of spies:)
Riddle Sideways: Elisa will host ㋡
Eden Haiku: Oh, thanks Eliza, would appreciate :)[about fixing calendar]
Eliza Madrigal: :) normally I'd jump right in
Eden Haiku: At least, if it's shown on calendar.
Riddle Sideways: has US boycotted Internet in/out Cuba?
Eden Haiku: Cubans do fear spies :)
Eden Haiku: It will be a kind of electronic cure.
    Riddle Sideways: yes
Eden Haiku: Just walking on beach, swimming.....:)
Riddle Sideways: take an electronic-free vacation
    Eden Haiku: Yep!
Eliza Madrigal: but post lots of photos when you get back :)
    Riddle Sideways: good

    --BELL--

Riddle Sideways: this person likes to take virtual vacations through the eyes (and expense) of others
Eliza Madrigal: but you already live in paradise. we've established that :))
    Riddle Sideways: :)) yes
Eliza Madrigal: I live in a paradise, but on the wrong side of the paywall
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eden Haiku: Would like to post photos Eliza, but I'm so used to daily posts, it seems hard to post "old photos" of a few days ago, strange isn'it?
Eliza Madrigal: although of course we understand heaven springs from within :)
Eliza Madrigal: It would be strange perhaps, but not much on a little delay
Riddle Sideways: would be New to us
Eden Haiku: "heaven springs from within": what a nice way to put it Eliza :)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eden Haiku: Is your top homemade Eliza, I can read PaB on your sweater?
Eliza Madrigal: It is from the 5th birthday
Riddle Sideways: a couple days ago, found that there are many VR museum tours and exhibits now online (with audio tour tracks)
Eliza Madrigal: this is Xiri's design
Eden Haiku: Beautiful and very modern.
Eliza Madrigal: I will send one to you after session
    Eliza Madrigal: :)

    New tunes

Eden Haiku: peeked at the Grammys yesterday. So many artists I have never heard of...
    Eden Haiku: Thanks :)
Eliza Madrigal: I really try to listen to new music, but am more often drawn back to familiars
Riddle Sideways: there were pants to match too
Eliza Madrigal: VR in SL, Riddle? Or on their own sites?
Riddle Sideways: yes, stuck in old music
Eliza Madrigal: i-pod is about 70/30
Riddle Sideways: On VR glasses like the Cardboard (Eden has not opened ㋡
Eliza Madrigal: in favor of nostalgia
    Eliza Madrigal: Ah
Eden Haiku: Admitting box still unopened...
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Riddle Sideways: just picking on you
Eden Haiku: It will archeological artefact soon, so...
    Riddle Sideways: lol
Eliza Madrigal: here's a new song I liked so much I played it over and over and now am almost tired of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBkHHoOIIn8
Eden Haiku: Should sell it for a thousand dollars in Cuba... giggling
    Eliza Madrigal grins
Riddle Sideways: ooooo lol the Old Spice advert before that music :))
    Eliza Madrigal laughs
Eden Haiku: Dove advert here :(
Eliza Madrigal: I have a block, so always forget when I share something popular that I'm also sharing ads :(

    --BELL--

Riddle Sideways: ... oooo like that song
Riddle Sideways: vid is ... so .... 1986
Eliza Madrigal: yes, haha, actually sounds much better while driving a car :)
    Riddle Sideways: heyday of MTV
Eden Haiku: Likes the song but the video is..weird...
Riddle Sideways: vids were suppose to stand by themselves
Riddle Sideways: therefore have nothing to do with the song
Eliza Madrigal: I was perfect age for MTV when it had videos
Eden Haiku: We live in a strange world :)
    Riddle Sideways: raised on MTV
Eliza Madrigal: like when history channel had history
    Eden Haiku: ;0
Eliza Madrigal: and science channel had science
    Eliza Madrigal smiles
Riddle Sideways: Weather channel having weather
Eden Haiku: And news were real news :)
    Riddle Sideways: News channel ...
Eliza Madrigal: and there it is :)
Riddle Sideways: Reality channel having ...

    Peaceful nations

Eden Haiku: Did you hear about the attack in a mosk last year in Quebec city
    Riddle Sideways: ummmm, think maybe
Eliza Madrigal: no, I don't think so Eden
Riddle Sideways: got confused by where the several attacks were
Eliza Madrigal: but so many attacks...
    Eliza Madrigal: yes
Eden Haiku: 6 Muslims died. They said there were two armed men who fired,
    Eden Haiku: Then just one.
Eden Haiku: He's in prison and almost nothing of the inquiry went out.
Riddle Sideways: usually shooter is killed
Eliza Madrigal: What was news like locally?
Riddle Sideways: that story got hidden behind the ambience's bombing
Eden Haiku: Except it was probably a young guy who was in love with an other young guy who happened to be Muslim. The dejected lover was the killer.
Eliza Madrigal: so not as much to stir wider spread panic perhaps
Eden Haiku: But politicians want us to believe the whole white population of Quebec is islamophobic so the inquiry is shut down...
Eliza Madrigal: and here in the US, we are calm while there have been 11 mass school shootings already in January
Eden Haiku: Yep, you are a peaceful nation :)
Riddle Sideways: 11? oh ! did not know the count
    Eden Haiku: Thats's terrible isn'it?
Eliza Madrigal: It doesn't seem real
    Eden Haiku: Always schoolchildren...
Eliza Madrigal: that not only is it this way, but that adults are this way
    Riddle Sideways: "Comfortably Numb"
Eliza Madrigal nods... Dalai Lama gave this interview, where he talked about western ideas of success winning out
Eden Haiku: Watched the video interview of Obama on Netflix you were talking about Eliza, I miss him so much ...
Eliza Madrigal: me too, and I miss the country that voted for him
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Riddle Sideways: yes, saw that too and said "miss him"
Eliza Madrigal: I liked thinking that's who we were becoming
Eliza Madrigal: even if there were things to take issue with
Eden Haiku: So intelligent and so " natural ".
    Eliza Madrigal: clear eyed
Riddle Sideways: not repeating and repeating
    Eliza Madrigal: pushing triggers
    Riddle Sideways: not short sighted
    Eliza Madrigal: definitely not
Riddle Sideways: not short sightedly tariffing washing machines
Eden Haiku: A beautiful human being. And so much respect for his wife and daughters
    Riddle Sideways: that hurt S.Carolina
Eliza Madrigal: I mean, even where you criticize Obama, he was taking a long view and was realistic about what he could push forward in the context he was in.
Eliza Madrigal: Oh, I didn't know about that Riddle?

    Riddle Sideways: Tenn.
Eden Haiku: Taxes on washing machines...he's like a crazy child...
    Riddle Sideways: yes
Eliza Madrigal: common person really being helped by this way of thinking :::rolls eyes::::
Eliza Madrigal: and educational changes being made in places to go 'back to biblical principles'
Riddle Sideways: and the wonders of "Net Neutrality"
    Eliza Madrigal grumbles
Eliza Madrigal searches for that heaven wellspring mentioned earlier... dig dig...
Eden Haiku: realizes she’s following more an more small farmers from the UK and Ireland on Twitter. So refreshing to see sheep and chicken and farm dogs and shepherd cats :) I think my farmers ancestors are showing up on my timeline :)
    Eliza Madrigal smiles
    Eden Haiku:heaven from within, sighs...
Riddle Sideways: awwwww, good source of that heaven within
Eliza Madrigal: the animal and snow photos keep twitter from being a drag
    Eliza Madrigal: :) love sheep
Eliza Madrigal: I cut back last week, only to then go crazy all in one morning
    Eliza Madrigal: sigh :)
Eden Haiku: Going back to Walden, living a simple life.
Eden Haiku: I know what you mean Eliza :)

    Reading books

Eden Haiku: Spent a whole afternoon in bed reading a book :)
Eliza Madrigal: there is a lake nearby, surrounded by a tall thick metal fence, named Walden
Eden Haiku: I think it helped the healing of the cold :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Oh, nice!
Eliza Madrigal: That's how I stayed away from twitter too... finally read War and Peace
Eden Haiku: Oh, not the Walden I was thinking of...
    Eliza Madrigal: :) yes
Eliza Madrigal: What did you read?
    Riddle Sideways:wow, light reading
Eliza Madrigal: was a NY resolution
Eden Haiku: A book wriiten by one of the victims of the Bataclan attack in Paris. She now takes care of attacks victims. I cried so much reading the book.
    Eliza Madrigal: oh, wow
Eliza Madrigal: even lighter reading @@
Riddle Sideways: wow, more light reading
Eden Haiku: Never read War and Peace... Congrats Eliza :)
Eden Haiku: A light Monday morning like we like them :)
Riddle Sideways: hmmm, never finished (3 starts) reading W&P
Eliza Madrigal: if I'd but known how absorbing it was I wouldn't have kept putting it off, expected to take a few weeks
Riddle Sideways: keep a pencil and paper handy to track the characters
Eliza Madrigal: the translation makes a big difference, because I'd started a few times before too
Eden Haiku: All these Russian names and nicknames...
Eden Haiku: Even Anna Karenine lost me...
Eliza Madrigal: I found this a bit easier to track than Anna Karenina
    Eden Haiku: Oh is it?
    Eden Haiku: Good.
Eliza Madrigal: but also, last year my son and I were listening to a lot of military history podcasts on the way to school, so all the Napoleon stuff was more interesting :)
Eden Haiku: But with such a title. I doubt I will ever open the book...

Films that show so much so fast

Eden Haiku: What is your son studying Eliza?
Eliza Madrigal: film, at the moment
    Eliza Madrigal: it may change
    Eden Haiku: Exciting!
Eliza Madrigal: but he's doing very well
    Eden Haiku: Wow!
Eliza Madrigal:not sure he's on a practical track, but he's on a track he's loving, so I can't ask for much more... he's mostly happy
Eliza Madrigal: had such a difficult time before
Riddle Sideways:good, a happy path will get exciting and go someplace
Eliza Madrigal: :) and I like watching films with him and hearing him decipher them
    Eliza Madrigal:finally saw Get Out!
Eden Haiku: A happy path and heaven within seems to be a perfect match :)

    --BELL--

    Eliza Madrigal: :))
Riddle Sideways: oooo, what did you think of Get OUt
Eden Haiku: Oh, that must be interesting yes!
    Eliza Madrigal: fantastic
Eliza Madrigal: hard to talk about without giving spoilers but everyone should see, you're right
Riddle Sideways: during the movie... thought this is racist, bad, sick, etc.
Riddle Sideways: then had large group conversation afterward
Riddle Sideways: and missed so much
Eliza Madrigal: hard to watch at first indeed
Eden Haiku: Never heard of it...[was wrong, I remember now Riddle telling us in a previous session his daughter made them see the movie]
Riddle Sideways: well, did not add some of the clues up
Eliza Madrigal:a film like that can show so much so fast
    Eden Haiku: Oh...seeing pictures...
Eliza Madrigal: son then had friends over to watch
Riddle Sideways: yes, the opening scene
Riddle Sideways: was not even thought about the rest of the movie
Riddle Sideways: and yet was important
Eden Haiku: Watching the trailer. Sounds interesting.[Trailer here: https://www.google.ca/search?q=get+o...hrome&ie=UTF-8]

Eliza Madrigal: I was hesitant to see it, but honestly, it feels very important
    Eden Haiku: And scary.
Riddle Sideways: it is listed as a comedy by a comic, yet has almost nothing "funny" during the first watching. then re-think and it was funny
Eliza Madrigal: so much is invisible
    Eden Haiku: Oh!
Eden Haiku: Is it like fantastic, sci-fi?
Eliza Madrigal: in that sense it sort of reminded me ofThe Shining or something
Riddle Sideways: we are very close to giving it away
Riddle Sideways: on how to watch it
Eliza Madrigal: yup, better stop :)
Eden Haiku: Ah ok. enough to make me want to see it!
    Riddle Sideways: there
Eliza Madrigal: I was hesitant until Riddle and another friend mentioned... but I'm glad I watched
Eden Haiku: It seems worthwhile :)
Eden Haiku:Thank you for being my guides into the maze of American culture :)
Eliza Madrigal: Better go, lovely to be with you both[missed that cue Eliza, sorry :( ]
Riddle Sideways: daughter had seen it and Forced us all to watch
    Riddle Sideways: then lead discussion
Eden Haiku: I like your daughter's forceful moves to educate her parents hehe
    Riddle Sideways: ha, guides?
    Eliza Madrigal: :) me too
Eden Haiku: you are a lucky father :)
    Eliza Madrigal:also "13th" documentary, important
    Riddle Sideways: she does that
Riddle Sideways: oh! that has been recommended
    Eden Haiku: 13th?
Eliza Madrigal: yes that's what it is called
    Riddle Sideways: by several
Eliza Madrigal: on Netflix now too
Eliza Madrigal: so much of what drives our societies is invisible
    Riddle Sideways: yep
Eliza Madrigal: so when someone is able to show it well, it matters so much
    Eliza Madrigal: hard to know
    Eliza Madrigal: stuff
    Eliza Madrigal: :)

    Ursula Le Guin

Riddle Sideways: was reviewing Ersala La Guein (sp?) topic this weekend

Riddle Sideways: lots of society stuff
    Eliza Madrigal nods
Riddle Sideways: sci fi societies that took other paths
Eden Haiku: Ursula Le Guin interviews are so interesting!
Riddle Sideways:ty for speelting[lovely speelting Riddle!]
Eliza Madrigal was first introduced to her reading 'Catwings' to my daughters
Eden Haiku: I still have to read her though.
Riddle Sideways: she got very heavy in some sections
    Riddle Sideways: and books
Eden Haiku: "Catwings" is a good place to start?
Eliza Madrigal: it is for young children, but her writing is lovely
Eliza Madrigal: Where to start, Riddle?
Eden Haiku: We all have lo live very long lives if we want to read/watch/visit all these unknown grounds :)
Eliza Madrigal: "Cat stories are, as a genre, the most repulsive sort of fiction anyway ... put wings on the cat and the story is doomed." But Le Guin "is apparently incapable of telling stores that aren't tough and true". He concluded:[9]
    Riddle Sideways: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ursula_K._Le_Guin#Sociology,_anthropology_and_psychology
Eden Haiku: Oh! I love reading children books b efore offering them to the little ones. I will get that for the little one turning 4 who lives near Toronto.

    --BELL--

Eden Haiku: Loves the title "The Left Hand of Darkness", might read that next :)
Eliza Madrigal: maybe I will too, although I was on to Chekov
Eden Haiku: Thanks for the link Riddle :)
Riddle Sideways: want to re-read those, but there are some not read yet
Riddle Sideways: the wikipedia has her booklist in sections of subjects
