I had been exiled to vacation by RL self and Riddle had been following it in my blog. In any case, this is my session and no substitutes are acceptable as vacation replacements. All through the session my RL self was being "attacked" by a cat who wanted some love. He had been hiding from small children much of the past two weeks.
Adams Rubble: Good morning Riddle :)
Riddle Sideways: ok, got here. wrong computer, but here
Riddle Sideways: brb
Adams Rubble: Welcome back :)
Riddle Sideways: sorry, thought that would be a fast back
Adams Rubble: no problem, I was resting
Riddle Sideways: ok, now back to Topic
Adams Rubble: that brought a cat
Riddle Sideways: Resting
Adams Rubble: ohhhh topic
Adams Rubble: sometimes people that we love can knock us off our balance?
Riddle Sideways: do you what to explain any more about the blog phone conversation?
Adams Rubble: I was exiled and now I am back :)
Adams Rubble: It was decided that this is MY session and a substitute would not be in order
Riddle Sideways: good
Adams Rubble: hope you did not mind a subsitute the other day
Riddle Sideways: oh no, was refreshing
Riddle Sideways: and that was Not YOUR session anyway
Adams Rubble: no
Adams Rubble: we have roles to play and sometimes someone decides to recognize or emphasize a different role
Adams Rubble: do not see you for what you think you are
Riddle Sideways: so much busy-ness, thought you did not need more
Riddle Sideways: had some of that chat last night also
Riddle Sideways: so issues in that chat were the use of words/phrases that are well understood in here
Adams Rubble: :)
Riddle Sideways: role playing and then switching roles
Adams Rubble: I did not get a chance to remind the RL person to stop being so tied to roles
--BELL--
Riddle Sideways: yes, that is part of it
During the meditation break I remembered Z-self. When we are taking ourselves too seriously, it is a way of seeing how the RL self is just an appearance.
Adams Rubble: forgets about the deeper person
Adams Rubble: Pema used to call it the Z-self
Riddle Sideways: /listens
Adams Rubble: when RL person tried to kill me off, the Z-self intervened
Adams Rubble: I just remembered that as we are speaking
Adams Rubble: Z-self said I was just as real as RL person :)
Adams Rubble: I remembered that during meditation
Adams Rubble: It is useful to have little crises that make us see differently
Riddle Sideways: yes, understand needing small shake-ups
Riddle Sideways: (not earthquakes tho)
Adams Rubble: no to earthquakes
Riddle Sideways: wiki found lots of Z-self regs
Do computers in earthquakes shake up avatars residing there? People outside second life might have a hard time understanding this question
Adams Rubble: Funny I never experienced one although I think I live in a computer in the bay area
Riddle Sideways: this avi may not have read those sessions
Adams Rubble: I think the main point of those sessions was to remind us not to take self appearances too seriously
Adams Rubble: but nobody wants to play the role of an old fart (Just ask Joe Biden)
Adams Rubble: can I say that in PaB?
Riddle Sideways: syre
Riddle Sideways: *sure
Riddle Sideways: the editor and/or wiki supervisor might judge
Adams Rubble: hehe
Adams Rubble: warning, this session might not be suitable for children
Riddle Sideways: fine line between the Sage wise elder and an old fart
Adams Rubble: urge parental guidance
Riddle Sideways: the maturity level of this sim
Riddle Sideways: Moderation
Adams Rubble: this sim is OK, it is the one next door
Riddle Sideways: ha
Adams Rubble: Mieum
Riddle Sideways: where the grass is(was) greener
Adams Rubble: that is why the museum never was put there
Adams Rubble: well we cruised on a topic for a bit there--can we get back?
Riddle Sideways: yes, was circling back
Adams Rubble: The Hindus belive in an inner self
Adams Rubble: the person who was there when we were born and will be there when we die
Remembering Atman
Adams Rubble: Atman
Riddle Sideways: the one that is very hard for Others to deal with
--BELL--
Adams Rubble: a cat just came to see why there was no typing
Riddle Sideways: explain about thoughts of what to type come before the actual typing
Adams Rubble: life really is very amazing
Riddle Sideways: yes
Adams Rubble: in answer to your explain the mind was resting
Riddle Sideways: good
Adams Rubble: children are amazing
Yaku joins us
Yakuzza Lethecus: 's current display-name is "Yaku".
Adams Rubble: Hello Yakuzza :)
Riddle Sideways: Welcome, welcome Yaku
Adams Rubble: nice to see you
Riddle Sideways: so great to see you
Yakuzza Lethecus: hej you two :)
Adams Rubble: we were discussing roles that are dear to rl persons but which others might not see because they see different roles for the rl person
Riddle Sideways: great you can take a break from your busy RL
Yakuzza Lethecus: i find it hard to break patterns, to change a role
Adams Rubble nods
Adams Rubble: especially to fit someone else's vision
Riddle Sideways: even harder to get Others to break out of the patterns they created you into
Adams Rubble: yes Riddle
Yakuzza Lethecus: it might ,,just happens" sometimes, it´s a bit strange sometimes when i really try to change a role it won´t work because i actually bite into to role
Adams Rubble: what to do?
Yakuzza Lethecus: i guess that is where our small mediation comes in
Yakuzza Lethecus: idealy we leave our role for a few seconds
Riddle Sideways: yes, take a breath
Adams Rubble nods
Adams Rubble: some people I know send their avatar on vacation
Riddle Sideways: a bit easier to have an Alt that does that role
Riddle Sideways: ha
Yakuzza Lethecus: hehe :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: here we are also just our own alts :)
Riddle Sideways: has gotten even worse with online built personas being locked in by advertizers
Riddle Sideways: etc.
Riddle Sideways: locked into seeing adverts for refrigerators that are already bought
Adams Rubble: (you bought a dining room table two years ago so you must want more dining room tables)
Riddle Sideways: yes
Riddle Sideways: had 20 minutes to kill, so stepped out of character and watch Frank Zappa vids
Adams Rubble: the cat is liftibng my cushion trying for attention
Yakuzza Lethecus: what was the name of when we can´t understand the progress of informationtech anymore ?
Riddle Sideways: now youTube knows this account is that person
Adams Rubble: old fart?
--BELL--
Riddle Sideways: giggles
Adams Rubble: my rl avatar is having some issues with the younger crowd :)
The topic takes a techy turn and I get a little lost
Yakuzza Lethecus: yes somewhere in between decreasing mindcapacity and technological singularity
Riddle Sideways: that fast paced world is changing stuff that was loved as a youth
Yakuzza Lethecus: it is scary, i clicked the other day on an interesting article about nuclear power and the article showed a message that i have to accept 5 different data analysis clouds
Riddle Sideways: is now very tiring
Yakuzza Lethecus: before i could actually read the article
Riddle Sideways: wow
Riddle Sideways: back away from those sites
Yakuzza Lethecus: of course it was possible to just accept, but some pages allow to individualize what you allow
Yakuzza Lethecus: well, google and facebook do the same thing we are just tired to think about it
Adams Rubble: I always leave a site that wants information about me
Yakuzza Lethecus: we don´t fully understand it, but we all heard that they do it
Riddle Sideways: that also was a deep part of a conversation last night
Cookies, cookies, lend me your comb (oh wait that was last session)
Yakuzza Lethecus: i didn ´t give them information but pages also read cookies from other sites
Riddle Sideways: "Everybody does it" so we should be fine
Yakuzza Lethecus: :)
Riddle Sideways: ah yes, turned cookies off a couple weeks ago and ALL sites are screaming now
Adams Rubble is afraid to turn off cookies
Riddle Sideways: it might be the cookies that lock the persona info in
Riddle Sideways: hmmmm
Adams Rubble pondering cookies and the roles we think are us
Yakuzza Lethecus: yes, i saw a newpaper page that showed my realname because i payed once with ,,klarna"
Yakuzza Lethecus: now the newpaper page that had a paywall offered me a deal where i could just buy with one click
Yakuzza Lethecus: that was a bit extreme
Adams Rubble: (this cat is insatiable)
Riddle Sideways: making online shopping easy
Riddle Sideways: goes ahead and buys Stuff for you
Yakuzza Lethecus: yes, it actually would save time
Adams Rubble: *cats hid from the children for the two weeks)
Adams Rubble: (now exacting revenge)
Riddle Sideways: cats hate when their realm and rule is usurped for a while
Riddle Sideways: image of Stuff showing up at door that an algorithm know one of the Alts needed/wanted
Riddle Sideways: and easy pay paid for it
Adams Rubble: :)
Adams Rubble controls the spending of my alts
Adams Rubble: they can not order from Amazon
Riddle Sideways: Botty must have new roller blades
Yakuzza Lethecus: maybe its enough the change the bearings ?
Adams Rubble: :)
Adams Rubble: that's hard core second life
Riddle Sideways: yes, but it is better for the skate company's profits
Yakuzza Lethecus: it is strange that those simple virtual worlds got so famous when sl didn´t advance much
--BELL--
Yakuzza Lethecus: here someone can actually go as detailed as one wants
Riddle Sideways: the SL replacement worlds have not 'quite' taken off
Yakuzza Lethecus: but in roblox or minecraft there are just a limited number of possiblities that people of course very creative with
Riddle Sideways: yet, many are still in Mindcraft. and learning much.
Riddle Sideways: know 2 people that have left High Fidelity to come back to SL
Yakuzza Lethecus: would like to do more mindcraft but i circle the same patterns and go nowhere
Riddle Sideways: guessing if one is in WOW long, the easy pay will send a huge sword to your door
Adams Rubble: or a cat
Yakuzza Lethecus: well, maybe the lindens got to team up with niantic and make an SL GO
Riddle Sideways: ha
Riddle Sideways: remembering those vids of what real people look like doing SL acts
Yakuzza Lethecus: i did not know that pokemon go was still popular, but i met a middleaged man the other day who had 4 phones to play it
Riddle Sideways: oh dear
Adams Rubble: ha
Riddle Sideways: AR needs to take off
Adams Rubble: I still see people wandering around the park with their heads buried in their phones
Riddle Sideways: soon improved Google Goggles
Riddle Sideways: yes, and people wandering around Costco mumbling to their phones
Yakuzza Lethecus: i am surprised google glass never became more popular
Riddle Sideways: rewatched 'Her' last weekend
Riddle Sideways: yes, surprised
Riddle Sideways: even M$ wants us to have AR run lives
Adams Rubble: there is much in this conversation that I do not understand
Riddle Sideways: ability to see the Cat with the Toy Story cowboy riding it
Yakuzza Lethecus: noone understands it anymore i fear -> i think we are past the technologically singularity
Yakuzza Lethecus: it is just to much happening when we aren´t watching
Riddle Sideways: might be right
Riddle Sideways: Old farts on tech
Riddle Sideways: sings along
Adams Rubble: we do not need to know this stuff, folks :)
Riddle Sideways: really? why is the nice advert saying I need it?
--BELL--
Yakuzza Lethecus: the scary thing is when you start to be interested in something and you don´t know yet that you actually need things that amazon is recommending you
Riddle Sideways: yes scary
Adams Rubble: :)P
Adams Rubble: :)
Adams Rubble: I am afraid I must run
Adams Rubble: I will post the log later
Yakuzza Lethecus: was nice to see you two again
Riddle Sideways: bye kitty cat
Adams Rubble: thank you for coming and enjoy the rest of what is left in your day or night
Adams Rubble: see you soon :)
Riddle Sideways: so nice, Yaku
