In this scene the primary players are Scathach and Udge. They mentioned the Youtube video "Validation" which made me smile, and cry.

Lia really moved me in this scene, with her interpretation of the book "On Having No Head".
Lia Rikugun: i liked one idea in the no head book
Lia Rikugun: we have this expression
Lia Rikugun: talking from face-to-face
Lia Rikugun: but actually it is only one face
Lia Rikugun: because you cannot see your own
Lia Rikugun: so somehow this is getting the other person into you
Lia Rikugun: you become him/her
Lia Rikugun: :)

Act 1 Scene 4

Pema made a much appreciated appearance in this scene and as usual had some very thoughtful remarks.
Pema Pera: perhaps it is most helpful if I just describe what happened this morning when I sat for a while with this short sentence
Pema Pera: "appreciate the presence of appearance"
Pema Pera: At first I was a bit distracted, with many thoughts popping up, as usual:
Pema Pera: things I did recently, things I should do but may not have time for, concerns, all that
Pema Pera: but then I reminded myself a few times to look more directly at the raw appearances of all that popped up
Pema Pera: while dropping or at least deemphasizing the judgments that come with it and all the bleeding-on associations that follow in their wake
Pema Pera: that was step one: to crack the nuts of appearances and focus on the inside, the raw givenness of the appearances, their presence
Pema Pera: and then the second step is to appreciate all that
Pema Pera: both those raw presences AND the ongoing tendency to fall back on the judgments and trains of associations, which of course in themselves are also appearances
Pema Pera: And then, to balance that whole thing, I enjoyed trying to hold that appreciation more and more lightly
Pema Pera: not so much as an act but more an attitude, a very light ongoing gesture
Pema Pera: it then went to a kind of feeling friendship with appearances,
Pema Pera: holding them all in my heart
Pema Pera: a kind of switch from seeing with my eyes to seeing with the eyes of the heart
Act 2 Scene 1

Three very special people help a soul in need, feeling satisfaction in the deed and learning in the doing. I truly wish I could have shared this special occasion with all, for my heart goes out to SophiaSharon who searched for why she is here and found that she is "here to be".
Act 2 Scene 2

We could all use a "bad hair day" every so often, and SL is a great place to experience it. The theme of this scene is appearances, and why they matter, or don't.
Act 2 Scenes 3

Maxine discusses a topic she is quite familiar with, dreams...
Maxine Walden: ever wonder 'who' is the dream-maker? Who is the architect?
Maxine Walden: it is inviting to personify the process, at least for me, some wise 'person'...
Maxine Walden: but I have moreless settled on appreciation of a process as the creator/architect, a process which is active and
Maxine Walden: trying to convey meaning, or to bridge the unconscious with the conscious self....so perhaps no 'person' but a wise 'process'

http://playasbeing.wik.is/Chat_Logs/2009/05/2009.05.17_19%3a00_-_PaB_RL%3a_%22Play_Center%22
The question of whether PaB would be helpful in the aftermath of natural disasters is discussed.

Seti Chronowire: I'm an anthropologist doing research in SL focused on contexts of religion and ritual performance. I'm quite interested in how SL is used for these types of things.
Seti is new to PaB and provides some interesting comments.
