The Guardian for this meeting was Bruce Mowbray. The comments are by Bruce Mowbray.
Bruce Mowbray: Hi!
Eliza Madrigal: Aloha again :))
Bruce Mowbray: :)
Bruce Mowbray: So, you'll be going to Amsterdam?
Eliza Madrigal: Blub makes the bubbles look like they are coming from your pipe
Eliza Madrigal: I am!
Bruce Mowbray: Ha ha.
Bruce Mowbray: Great!
Bruce Mowbray: I was in Amsterdam once.
Bruce Mowbray: 1966.
Bruce Mowbray: Fond memories. mostly of museums.
Eliza Madrigal: the package is nonrefundable so I have to stay well
BruEliza Madrigal: I've never been to Europe before
Bruce Mowbray: REALLY!???
Eliza Madrigal: really
Eliza Madrigal: so I'm pretty excited
Bruce Mowbray: That's amazing to me.
Eliza Madrigal: I've only been out of the country a few times :)
Bruce Mowbray: Hmmm, I know that one of those (maybe two of those) were to Nova Scotia.
Eliza Madrigal: yup!
Bruce Mowbray: btw, my RL avi is wearing a Nova Scotia sweat shirt today.
Eliza Madrigal: Nova Scotia was my second time out of the country
Eliza Madrigal: Oh?
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, he got it on his first trip to Halifax . . in 2007.
Eliza Madrigal: I really love it there
Eliza Madrigal: maybe because it feels nature conscious
Bruce Mowbray: I found Halifax to be a fascinating town
Eliza Madrigal: what is your favorite place?
Bruce Mowbray: Well, that's Windhorse....
Bruce Mowbray: In Halifax?
Eliza Madrigal: anywhere
Bruce Mowbray: Hmmm. Let me think a minute.
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Bruce Mowbray: To visit. . . . .
Bruce Mowbray: Probably New York.
Bruce Mowbray: because there is such a variety of things to do and see.
Eliza Madrigal wondered if that would be your answer ^.^
Bruce Mowbray: and places to get lost....
Bruce Mowbray: and people to watch.
Eliza Madrigal: it is like a hundred thousand places in one spot
Bruce Mowbray: yes.
Bruce Mowbray: and one can slip into a small church and just be in silence for a while.
Eliza Madrigal: mmm, yes
Bruce Mowbray: I know some really quiet small churches in New York....
Eliza Madrigal: I wonder if somewhere like, say London, feels that way too?
Bruce Mowbray: and some enormous loud ones, too.
Bruce Mowbray: I'm sure that London is a lot like New York.
Bruce Mowbray: I've been in London a couple of times.
Bruce Mowbray: but that was long ago.
Bruce Mowbray: I love Scotland.
Eliza Madrigal: wonderful you've traveled so much
Bruce Mowbray: Went all over the Highlands in 2006.
Bruce Mowbray: (which is why I went to Nova Scotia the following year.)
Eliza Madrigal: ah
Bruce Mowbray: I went for the annual Highland Festival (in Halifax).
Bruce Mowbray: Took lots of photos.
Eliza Madrigal: oooh, lots of Scottish in Halifax?
Bruce Mowbray: to remind me of Scotland.
Bruce Mowbray: OH YES!
Bruce Mowbray: Nova Scotia = New Scotland.
Eliza Madrigal: hah!
Bruce Mowbray: :)
Eliza Madrigal: I can't believe I missed that
Eliza Madrigal: the two places I always wanted to visit are Paris and Ireland, but I seem to be going lots of other places ^.^
Bruce Mowbray: Nova Scotia even has its own tartan colors.
Bruce Mowbray: I was in Paris (twice) in 1966....
Bruce Mowbray: I still dream about Paris.
Bruce Mowbray: I dream about the designs in Notre Dame Cathedral.
Eliza Madrigal: it is such a dream itself
Bruce Mowbray: and I grieved for Paris during the recent floods.
Eliza Madrigal nods
Eliza Madrigal: oh, wait, India too. I'd like to go to India :)
Bruce Mowbray: Oh my!
Bruce Mowbray: I no longer feel that it is safe for me to travel.
Bruce Mowbray: but I enjoy hearing about others' travels.
Eliza Madrigal: still vertigo issues?
Bruce Mowbray: Well that, yes, but also my short term memory,
Bruce Mowbray: I tend to forget things - leave important things lying around - one can't do that (for long) in New York, ha ha.
Bruce Mowbray: I left a computer on the subway once.
Eliza Madrigal: Oh, I see ... must be very difficult, especially for someone who has such a good memory generally, like you do good
Eliza Madrigal: Oh, that sounds like me on a normal day!
Bruce Mowbray: and had to go back the very next day (all the way from Ohio) to retrieve it from the police.
Bruce Mowbray: The police treated it as a "suspected crime" -- NOT by me, but by whoever got it off the subway and onto the platform.
Bruce Mowbray: Post 9/11 thinking, I suppose.
Eliza Madrigal: that makes sense
Bruce Mowbray: anyway, the police were amazingly gracious.
--BELL—
Bruce Mowbray: They didn't even ask me to identify what was in the backpack. . . And they let me use the police men's restroom. Amazing.
Bruce Mowbray: Aph wants to know if we care to join her at an exhibition.
Eliza Madrigal: yes, let's go :)
Eliza Madrigal: that's surprising, re the police
Eliza Madrigal: trustworthy air about you :)
Bruce Mowbray: OK. Off to Aph's
