    Bruce Mowbray: Heya, Cat.
    Catrinamonblue Resident: hi Bruce :)
Bruce Mowbray: Any warmer where you are than it is here?
Catrinamonblue Resident: it's been rainy and grey here but mild
Bruce Mowbray: Hmmm. I'm in a rainy-grey mood today.... but it's sunny, but still cold.
Catrinamonblue Resident: anything in particular that's making you grey today?
Bruce Mowbray: Yes. I decided a few months ago that I was no longer capable of traveling.. either physically or mentally.
Bruce Mowbray: Now, my friend in Alaska is going to have his 4th brain surgery,
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :(
Bruce Mowbray: and he wants me to come up there and take care of him for three weeks - minimum.  In the middle of the winter in Alaska.
Catrinamonblue Resident: that's hard, my sister has a non-cancer brain tumor
Bruce Mowbray: I am in a total quandary about it.
Catrinamonblue Resident: was just told it's too dangerous for her to have a third surgery
Bruce Mowbray: Sorry to hear that. All of my friend's tumors have been malignant.
Catrinamonblue Resident: do you feel you are up to helping him? its a hard thing to do
Bruce Mowbray: I hope she was OK after her surgeries.

Bruce Mowbray: I don't know. I had given up on traveling all together.
Bruce Mowbray: but my friend still asked me because no one in his family could go up there.

    --BELL--

Bruce Mowbray: So, I am now reconsidering.
Bruce Mowbray: Oh good! Here's Kori!
Catrinamonblue Resident: sometimes it's ok to change your mind :)
Bruce Mowbray: Heya, Kori! Are you still in Uganda?
Catrinamonblue Resident: Hi Kori :) I've been reading the logs :)
Korel Laloix: Heya... yes... two more weeks it looks like.
    Bruce Mowbray: WOW!
Bruce Mowbray: We hear about Ebola every day in the news.
    Korel Laloix: wow.. lag
Bruce Mowbray: Seems that someone in Dallas is infected and the whole town is going crazy.
Korel Laloix: I was just reading about the Dallas and DC situations. Would to hae more information.
Bruce Mowbray: (parents keeping kids home from school and the like.)
Bruce Mowbray: yes, also in DC, I hear.
Bruce Mowbray: YOU BE CAREFUL, hear!???
Korel Laloix: Seems people need more information.
Korel Laloix: We are far away from any active outbreak.
Bruce Mowbray: whew -- good to hear that.
Korel Laloix: Been a couple of years since anything here.
    Bruce Mowbray: Good.
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
Bruce Mowbray: My typist doesn't even get the flu when everyone else in town gets it... since he's so far removed from civilization.
Bruce Mowbray: but he still gets the flu shot, of course.
Bruce Mowbray: (Has already had his for this year.)
Korel Laloix: Good for you Bruce. I stay healthy most of the time, but when I get sick I get very sick.
    Bruce Mowbray: same here, Kori.
Bruce Mowbray: I figure if you're going to get sick, it might as well be a hum-dinger.
Korel Laloix: Today, though, I am the only healthy one in are group. They all ate at the hotel we were at last night and I ate out.
Korel Laloix: So they are all down with a bad tummy bug.
    Bruce Mowbray: oh dear!
Bruce Mowbray: That seems to be a challenge with traveling,
Bruce Mowbray: one never knows what bugs are out there.
Korel Laloix: But I am about the same.
Korel Laloix: So I am playing nurse to the rest today... ick.
Bruce Mowbray: Montezuma's Revenge, and all that.
Bruce Mowbray: I can almost imagine.
Korel Laloix: Nice to have a break though.. was getting worn down for sure.
Bruce Mowbray: Cat and I were just discussing playing nurse before you arrived, actually.
Korel Laloix: Seems a common activity.
    Catrinamonblue Resident: yes
Korel Laloix: I do that with grandma quite a bit, glad to do it. But sometimes not really pleasant.
Bruce Mowbray: Well, my take on that is -- occasionally, no problem, but if I'd wanted to be a nurse on a regular basis, I would have gone into nursing.
Catrinamonblue Resident: though my sister lives far from me so I'm not a nurse to her per say but am on the phone with her a lot
Bruce Mowbray: Ironically, the fellow who wants me to be with him after his surgery IS a registered nurse!
Korel Laloix: I am picking up quite a bit of medical info on this trip. Still would not want to be a doctor.
Korel Laloix: Maybe a vet though.... still looking at that.
Bruce Mowbray: I'll bet that you are, Kori!
Bruce Mowbray: Doctors need to be able to move themselves to a "space" of emotional objectivity.
Bruce Mowbray: I'm sure I could NOT do that adequately.
Bruce Mowbray: (Recalls Gregory "House" on TV.)
Korel Laloix: Unfortunately, emotional detachment is something I am very well skilled at.
    Bruce Mowbray: Nods.
Bruce Mowbray: I wish I were more so, actually.
Korel Laloix: Or maybe if going to be a vet, a good thing.
Bruce Mowbray: My typist's father was a vet.
Bruce Mowbray: a bacteriological specialist, actually,,, but with animals.
Catrinamonblue Resident: I'm a very emotional person so would not make a good doctor
Korel Laloix: Vets make better epidemiologists evidently relative to regular MDs.
    Bruce Mowbray: For sure, Cat.
Korel Laloix: So something I am still looking as for sure.
Bruce Mowbray: Well, vets can't ask their patients where they got the bugs.
Bruce Mowbray: or even ask where it hurts.
Korel Laloix: Very true... has to rely more on observed symptoms.
    Catrinamonblue Resident: nods
Bruce Mowbray: nods, remembers his father doing post-mortems on pigs.
Bruce Mowbray: (not a pleasant memory, actually.)
Korel Laloix: But a real choice for me, PhD or DVM.
Bruce Mowbray: My typist's dad was a DVM from Ohio State.
    Korel Laloix: Good schools here.
    Bruce Mowbray: In Uganda?

    --BELL--

Korel Laloix: I meant Oklahoma... lol]
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
Bruce Mowbray: kk, sings. . . .   OOOOOOOO - kla- homa -- where the wind comes rushing down the plain......!!
Korel Laloix: Evidently not as much wind as there used to be.. almost record low tornadoes.
Bruce Mowbray: Hmmmm, a good thing.... after what you've been tyhrough in recent years!
Bruce Mowbray: We didn't have many tornadoes this year either, fortunately.
Korel Laloix: I like this result more than what people where hyping.
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Bruce Mowbray: Not many hurricanes, either, except on the West Coast.
Korel Laloix: brb.. going to see if I can get on the normal viewer. The internet seems very fast and stable here.
    Bruce Mowbray: kk, np.
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
Bruce Mowbray: Kori has had to use a text viewer....
Bruce Mowbray: Maybe now it will be better for her.
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
Bruce Mowbray: Has she been posting news?
Bruce Mowbray: I don't know where to look for that.
Catrinamonblue Resident: I've been reading the logs so know only what she has said here
Bruce Mowbray: kk. I thought maybe she was writing a Chronicle for PaB or something like that.
Catrinamonblue Resident: haven't seen any changes posted in the wiki by her yet
    Bruce Mowbray: kk, thanks.
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
Bruce Mowbray: going to be away from keyboard for a sec.... brb, but if you need to go, np... OK?
Eliza Madrigal: 's current display-name is "Eliza".
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
    Bruce Mowbray: brb.
    Catrinamonblue Resident: Hi Eliza :)
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Cat :) ntsy
    Eliza Madrigal: everything going well?
Catrinamonblue Resident: I don't get much time anymore to visit here but try as much as I can
Catrinamonblue Resident: yes things are good :)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Kori
    Korel Laloix: Heya.. it works
Eliza Madrigal: reports from the field?
    Catrinamonblue Resident: wb Kori :)
Korel Laloix: Everyone but me is down with a tummy bug so we are staying put for a couple of days.
    Eliza Madrigal: oh dear
Korel Laloix: I needed the rest anyway..
Korel Laloix: And glad we have good Internet here.
    Bruce Mowbray: [back]
Eliza Madrigal: wb and Hello Bruce
    Bruce Mowbray: Hello, Eliza!
Eliza Madrigal: what has the discussion been today?
Bruce Mowbray: We've been talking about Kori's adventures in Africa. . .
Bruce Mowbray: and somewhat about Ebola transmission. . . in America, alas.
Bruce Mowbray: and also about whether Kori should become a vet or a medical doc for humans.
    Korel Laloix smiles
    Bruce Mowbray: ;))
Eliza Madrigal: I've not heard you talking about animals much, Kori
Korel Laloix: Just vets tend to make better epidemiologists.
    Eliza Madrigal: oh that's interesting
Korel Laloix: I have not done much work in zoological fields, but have done some with crops.
Bruce Mowbray: My typist's father was into veterinary epidemiology . . . He was a DVM.
    Eliza Madrigal: dvm?
Bruce Mowbray: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
    Eliza Madrigal: neat :)
Bruce Mowbray: His specialty was bacteriology. in fact he invented the MLV vaccine most widely used throughout the world for preventing hog cholera.
Bruce Mowbray: hog cholera is not a bacterial disease, though, it is viral.

    --BELL-

Korel Laloix: Will have to look that up.
Eliza Madrigal: My grandfather recently reconnected with a stepdaughter who was a vet assistant for many years and worked with zoo animals here after Hurricane Andrew.. was pretty fascinating to listen to her.
    Bruce Mowbray: https://www.google.com/search?q=Fort...2F%3B444%3B593
Korel Laloix: I really want pizza right now for some reason.
    Eliza Madrigal clicks
    Catrinamonblue Resident: clicks
Catrinamonblue Resident: smiles at Kori :)
    Korel Laloix: Cool...
Bruce Mowbray: My typist's dad invented that vaccine in the 1950's.
Korel Laloix: Modified viruses are of great use... the only recently patented for Ebola though has caused a lot of conspiracy theories.. sort of funny really. But tragic as well.
    Eliza Madrigal: fascinating Bruce
    Korel Laloix: the one recently
Bruce Mowbray: I can imagine that many zoo animals were lost or at least relocated after Hurricane Andrew..
Korel Laloix: I can't seem to put my complete thoughts into the computer today.
Bruce Mowbray: Fear generates many stories. . . .
Korel Laloix looks up Hurricane Andrew
Eliza Madrigal: yes, most of the work she did was dental, but also had to do with just the different requirements of care when homes are destroyed
Bruce Mowbray: I know a lot of that happened after Katrina.
Bruce Mowbray: I always feel sorry for the animal victims . . . as much as for the human ones.
Eliza Madrigal: for older Miamians (guess that's me now, lol) there really is a sense of before Andrew/after Andrew
Bruce Mowbray: well, Hurricane Andrew took out most of southern Florida . . . so that is understandable.
Eliza Madrigal nods... excuse me just a few moments please...have to switch viewers
    Bruce Mowbray: kk, np.
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
Korel Laloix: OK... time to find a snack and head to bed.
Bruce Mowbray: There is a guardian's meeting in only a few minutes . . . so I'm thinking that is what Eliza is preparing for.
Catrinamonblue Resident: night Kori, take good care of yourself
    Korel Laloix: Take care all.
    Bruce Mowbray: okay, Kori.
    Korel Laloix: Ciao
Bruce Mowbray: Please take care and will see you soon.
    Korel Laloix smiles
    Korel Laloix: Will do
Bruce Mowbray: one brave gal, huh?
    Catrinamonblue Resident: yes she is
Bruce Mowbray: She's getting a wonderful education over there....
    Bruce Mowbray: Welcome back, Eliza!
    Catrinamonblue Resident: wb Eliza :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Thanks!
Bruce Mowbray: Will our guardians meeting still be in the village hall , , , in six minutes?
Eliza Madrigal: hopefully this will be much better :) YES it will
Bruce Mowbray: or is there another location?
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
    Bruce Mowbray: kk, thanks.
Eliza Madrigal: I should send a notice inworld
Eliza Madrigal: Did you read my email?
Catrinamonblue Resident: some of it but not all...
Bruce Mowbray: yes, I saw your email about changing your sessions location. . . . and that you prefer to be here after all.
Eliza Madrigal: well, that was the feeling Thursday anyway
    Bruce Mowbray: nods.
Bruce Mowbray: I think it's fun to experiment with other locales.
Eliza Madrigal: I don't close doors if I can help it
    Bruce Mowbray: nods, agrees.
Eliza Madrigal: yes, it seems a good idea... but that setting wasn't quite right
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
Bruce Mowbray: I had to miss that session, unfortunately.
    Eliza Madrigal: busy lately?
Catrinamonblue Resident: I read the log, sounded more like perhaps you wern't prepared for the shift?
    Bruce Mowbray listens...
Eliza Madrigal: that's definitely part of it Cat
Eliza Madrigal: but the tea house was really more for just two I think
    Catrinamonblue Resident: ah ok
Eliza Madrigal: our cushions were awkward and well, it just didn't work
    Bruce Mowbray: :)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: OK, will head to village hall now ~ see you soon?
Bruce Mowbray: I think I will move along to the village hall . . . I just received Eliza's notice.
    Bruce Mowbray: kk!
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
