Wol Euler: gruß gott, yaku
Yakuzza Lethecus: gutenmorgen
Wol Euler: how's life in the north? do you hve snow yet?
Yakuzza Lethecus: we had a little on thursday
Wol Euler: osiyo korel
Korel Laloix: Morning
Yakuzza Lethecus: first time removing it from the car when driving home
Wol Euler: wow :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: hej korel
Wol Euler: it's still warm-ish here, 15°C or so
Yakuzza Lethecus: I'd prefer that
Korel Laloix: Was a very mild summer for us.
Korel Laloix: And likely will bea bad winter.
Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: I heard predictions that North American would have another long and harsh winter
Wol Euler: sorry to say
--BELL--
Korel Laloix: That is what the Farmers Almanac is saying at least...a nd they have a good record for non-volcano years.
Wol Euler: I hope it isn't too awful
Wol Euler: we didn't have a winter last year, in my memory there wasn
Wol Euler: wasn't more than on e night of frost
Wol Euler: summer was unusually cool too
Korel Laloix: It was colder here on average.
Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: and the ice storms ... yup
Korel Laloix: The house is more insulated this year, so hopeuflly I won't feel as bad.
Wol Euler grins.
Korel Laloix: Grandma still likes to keep the house way too cold for me... so I have space heater going in my room.
Wol Euler: are there grants for home improvement for insulation, new windows etc where you live?
Korel Laloix: Yes.. from a number of sources.
Korel Laloix: She is old, I am native, the house is historic, etc.
Wol Euler: too late now, you don't want to be opening walls this close to possible snowfall, but for next Spring worth considering
Korel Laloix: I think we are done with the house now.
Wol Euler: okay :)
Wol Euler: I tend to put my architect hat on and throw advice around unasked, no offence intended
Korel Laloix: Not much more we can do beside actually seel in my old room with real windows. But since that is just a porch really, not a bit concern.
Wol Euler: is the floor insulated? the roof? if it was just an outdoor porch before, they might not be
Korel Laloix: The roof is insulted now.
Korel Laloix: But not the floor or or half walls.
Wol Euler: floor would be a good idea, but see how tolerable it is with the roof done
Korel Laloix: But was a nice room for me for year or so, so might be a good gues bedroom on occatin.
Korel Laloix: My room is the converted garage now.
Wol Euler: ah
Korel Laloix: Very insulated and warm.
Wol Euler: do you feel drafts there?
Korel Laloix: Not at all in the garage. When we converted it we ripped it down to the rafters and studs and started over.
Wol Euler: super
Wol Euler smiles.
Korel Laloix: The really nice part was that to level the floor to the house they put down about 9 inches hard foam on the concrete floor.
Korel Laloix: So the floor in never cold.
Wol Euler: that's great.
--BELL--
Wol Euler: well, that is probably the best room in the house, now, as far as heat retention goes. The rest is up to Grandma and the thermostat :)
Korel Laloix: We/they did a great job on it.
Wol Euler smiles.
Korel Laloix: Exactly.. and I sooo wish she was one of those old ladies that was always cold.
Wol Euler: heheheh
Korel Laloix: But she is always hot... kills me.
Wol Euler: two words: "long underwear" :)
Korel Laloix: In the summer it is worse. I end up wearing my long heavy coat in the house.
Wol Euler: O.O
Korel Laloix: I don't see the electrical bills, but I don'tt hink they would be good.
Wol Euler: nope.
Korel Laloix: Her sons take good care of her financially at least.
Korel Laloix: I do the rest mostly.
Wol Euler smiles.
Korel Laloix: So it works out for all I think.
Wol Euler: you are lucky to have found each other, I think
Korel Laloix: I think so... she is actually my stepfather's mother.
Korel Laloix: But more of a mother to me than ever my mother was.
Korel Laloix: I am not sure that sentance makes sense.
Wol Euler: I understand
Korel Laloix: OK...
Wol Euler: and I'm glad
Korel Laloix: I cant compalin... but I have to say i feel tied her now.
Korel Laloix: Would love to move in some ways, but just can't leave her.
Wol Euler: hmmmmm
Korel Laloix: Do you ever use a proxy service for you internet Wol?
Wol Euler: no, I never have
Wol Euler: people have suggested it as a way of getting around the ridiculous German restrictions on "possible" copyright infringement, but I am just too lazy to bother
Korel Laloix: Interesting.
Korel Laloix: My present contract is about to run out and want to find a new service.
Wol Euler: hmmmm
Wol Euler: as far as I know proxies are not service providers as such, you still need a normal contract with Sprint or Bell Tel or whatever, to get from your computer out to the proxy
Korel Laloix: Yes.. you still need that, but the proxy service just lets you go anonymously on your provided connection.
Wol Euler: yep
--BELL--
Wol Euler: oh, so it's the proxy itself that is up for renewal.
Korel Laloix: Yes.
Korel Laloix: I had one with my old work that was out of Ireland I think.
Wol Euler: can't help you there, sorry, I know far too little about it to give you worthwhile advice
Korel Laloix: The one I had through my school is about to go way up in rate.
Korel Laloix: Oh Ok.
Wol Euler: google will know :)
Korel Laloix: I looked and could not find a patern in the reviews.
Wol Euler: oh?
Korel Laloix: Either very good or very bad, depending on the rater.
Korel Laloix: And I am not technical enough to work it.
Korel Laloix: Oh well.. more research.
Wol Euler: mixed reviews are a curse, yeah. I always suspect that both the very good and the very bad are just personal rage or love leaking out
Wol Euler: rather than balanced assessments
Korel Laloix: I get the same.
Wol Euler: I can only say "happy hunting" :) I'm sure you will find another
Korel Laloix: And looks like I am going to be looking for a new car as well.. frowns
Korel Laloix: I think my honda is finally on its way out.
Wol Euler: I thought they never died? My mom drove one for twelve years then gave it to her sister's nephew (my second cousin), he's been driving it for anohter ten now
Wol Euler: but we don't salt the roads in winter
Korel Laloix: Well mine is two years younger than me... eligible for antique plates now I think.
Wol Euler: heheheheh
Korel Laloix: Hard to give up though... the car has been such a big part of my life... sad to say.
Wol Euler nods.
Korel Laloix: I lived in it for a while.
Wol Euler raises an eyebrow.
Korel Laloix: Was my first real taste of independance.
Wol Euler nods.
Korel Laloix: When I first moved to Florida I lived in the car for a while... long story.
Wol Euler: I'd like to hear that sometime (not today) if you like
Korel Laloix: Sure.. sort of funny looking back.
Wol Euler: (I have to be off at 2am to get started on my day, lots planned today)
Korel Laloix: wow.. I was dumb.
Wol Euler: heheheheheh
Korel Laloix: OK... just let me know.
Wol Euler: I'd be glad to
Korel Laloix: Where are you in Germany, if you don't mind me asking?
Korel Laloix: I am putting together a europe trip for next summer and might get back to Munich.
Korel Laloix: But most of the time in the UK.
Wol Euler: I'm in the southwest, Stuttgart
Korel Laloix: Oh Ok.. I actually went through there.
Wol Euler: it's a well-kept secret
Wol Euler: one does, yes, it's a staging point in the train service
Korel Laloix: On the way to the UK we flew out of there after seeing the BMW factory and the Ritter Sport tour.
Wol Euler: ah :)
Korel Laloix: Not a big fan of either really.
Korel Laloix: But I do like BMW motorcycles... just could not afford one.
Korel Laloix: And I don't think they make on fit for my size.
Wol Euler: they do seem to be big heavy bikes
Korel Laloix: Harly Davidson is about to put out a small electric motorcycle... really wanting to try that.
Wol Euler: hmmm
Korel Laloix: Thinking about my time living in my car has brought up a lot of memoris I have not sorted through in a while...
Wol Euler nods.
Korel Laloix: Wish I had been jounrnaling at that point in my life.
Wol Euler: you could do it now, from memory
Wol Euler: it won't be hte same, but it will still be good and helpful (I htink)
Korel Laloix: I have a lot of it written down for times with the shrinks.
Wol Euler: ok
--BELL--
Korel Laloix: But not the raw feelings of the time.
Korel Laloix: lol.. My English sucked, I had never been out of Oklahoma, all I had was the name of a Univ with a FA scholarships program, a boarding house address and the address of nearby coffee shop with a help wanted add.
Wol Euler: Korel, I must start packing up. I'm sorry to cut you off in mid-memory :(
Wol Euler: but I would love to hear this, anohter day
Korel Laloix: Take care... thanks for the chat.
Korel Laloix: Sure... enjoy your day.
Wol Euler: go back to sleep :) enjoy the weekend
Korel Laloix: Going to go for a run now I think.
Wol Euler: ha :)
Wol Euler: it can't be light yet!
Korel Laloix: Oh no.. it is 4am.
Wol Euler: right
Wol Euler: sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeep.
Korel Laloix: I think.. need to check all the clocks.
Wol Euler: bye for now
Korel Laloix: do na da go hv i
