2015.08.18 18:00 - Waters and Windlights

The Guardian for this meeting was Eos Amaterasu. The comments are by Eos Amaterasu.

Eos Amaterasu: took a look at San's build - very nice
Eos Amaterasu: a little desolate, a little rich
    Eos Amaterasu: wonderful
    Eos Amaterasu: feels really good
Bleu Oleander: 's current display-name is "Bleu".
    Bleu Oleander: how are you?
Eos Amaterasu: Pretty good. Also have felt tired early evenings - maybe the heat :-)
Eos Amaterasu: baby heat here compared to rest of world
    Bleu Oleander: can understand that!!
    Bleu Oleander: compared to here!
Bleu Oleander: we've been up in the 100's
    Eos Amaterasu: yikes
    Bleu Oleander: 43-46C
    Eos Amaterasu: arrgh
    Bleu Oleander: yes!!

Bleu Oleander: so feels nice sitting here around water :)
Eos Amaterasu: yes, I think water is essential somehow for PaB pavilion
    Bleu Oleander: seems so
Eos Amaterasu: "blue are the lifegiving waters taken for granted..."
    Bleu Oleander: :)

Eos Amaterasu: the "walls" here are nice combination of abstract geometry and tangible form
Bleu Oleander: yes, I wanted them to feel sheer and not too much like walls
Eos Amaterasu: almost like mental forms that protect while being open
Bleu Oleander: the texture is frosted glass
    Bleu Oleander: a classic pattern
Bleu Oleander: in some lights it fades away almost
Eos Amaterasu: and both square and circular patterns
    Bleu Oleander: yes
    Eos Amaterasu: Trying sunrise
Bleu Oleander: if you play with your environmental editor there are some great windlights
Eos Amaterasu: What exactly is a windlight?
Bleu Oleander: its like a filter
Bleu Oleander: preset sky, water, clouds
Bleu Oleander: artists have designed them
Bleu Oleander: and some are gorgeous
Bleu Oleander: are you on firestorm?
Eos Amaterasu: Like lysterine water setting?
    Eos Amaterasu: Yes, Firestorm
Eos Amaterasu: probably a version behind
Bleu Oleander: under world - environmental editor - environmental settings - choose: Customize my environment - then under "sky setting" you can choose "fixed" or "day cycle"
Bleu Oleander: there are many under "fixed"
Bleu Oleander: some of Bryn Oh's are fun
Bleu Oleander: under "day cycle" those presets follow the sl day/night cycle
    Bleu Oleander: so change
Bleu Oleander: vs. the fixed ones
    Eos Amaterasu: psycho strobe :-)
    Bleu Oleander: lol
Bleu Oleander: some are pretty shocking

    --BELL--

Bleu Oleander: under the day cycle look at (ss) atomospheric day cycle clear
Eos Amaterasu: I guess it's kind of like with the internet where your selections gradually customize a certain world you experience
    Bleu Oleander: yes
Eos Amaterasu: draws us together, draws us apart
    Bleu Oleander: paradox
Eos Amaterasu: we have our hands on the dials of the real weather and atmosphere and water
    Bleu Oleander: :)
Eos Amaterasu: though we may deny it
    Bleu Oleander: yes
Eos Amaterasu: so playing with environments in this second world is a good thing
Eos Amaterasu: play as being on earth

Bleu Oleander: have your sessions been quiet usually?
Eos Amaterasu: Often nobody else here
Eos Amaterasu: Last week first Adams, then stevenaia
    Bleu Oleander: nice
Eos Amaterasu: When are your sessions?
Bleu Oleander: I used to host one on Sunday morning which was nice
Bleu Oleander: now Adams has that
Bleu Oleander: I could go back to hosting again but not sure what time/day I would do

Eos Amaterasu: the windlights make world more dynamic
    Bleu Oleander: yes
    Bleu Oleander: fun for photos
Bleu Oleander: I first used them when I was making videos
Bleu Oleander: when I build I use the "everyday" windlights because I'm not sure what others do
Eos Amaterasu: I wonder if this is "first we build a church", then a village around it :-)
    Bleu Oleander: :)
Bleu Oleander: our village seems to be coming together
Eos Amaterasu: like those French Canadian towns that always have a prominent church
Bleu Oleander: ah you mean the pavilion

    --BELL--

    Eos Amaterasu: :-)
Bleu Oleander: kinda the central space of the town
Eos Amaterasu: like an expression of the magnetism that brings people together, and then they enrich around that

Eos Amaterasu: There's this "Maitri Space Awareness" practice, where you build rooms with different colors and different shapes, in which you then take different postures
Bleu Oleander: oh that sounds very interesting
Eos Amaterasu: to explore "ways of being" - in this case described as the five buddha families
    Bleu Oleander: nice
Eos Amaterasu: yeah, I think in SL you could build perfect environments for that
Eos Amaterasu: and maybe also posture animations
    Bleu Oleander: interesting idea
Eos Amaterasu: and see what happens :-)
Bleu Oleander: I'm really intrigued by that idea
Eos Amaterasu: there's lots of stuff on the web; here's one of the original sources: http://www.beezone.com/Trungpa/maitri.htm
Bleu Oleander: was just going to ask :)
    Bleu Oleander: thanks
Bleu Oleander: "The effect of the rooms is not limited to the time spent in them."
Eos Amaterasu: San's build upstairs reminded me of that, cause one of the "families" is called "buddha", and has a slightly abandoned, almost desolate quality, but also earthy
Bleu Oleander: have been fascinated by that idea
    Bleu Oleander: ah nice
Eos Amaterasu: "padma" was always a big favorite cause of seductive quality
Eos Amaterasu: padma : lotus (looking at lotus in pool :-)
    Bleu Oleander: :)
Eos Amaterasu: I think people would sometimes also use glasses to color how things look
    Eos Amaterasu: like a HUD
    Bleu Oleander: yes
Bleu Oleander: interesting to play with our perceptions
Bleu Oleander: tweek them a bit
Bleu Oleander: see how it feels
    Eos Amaterasu: yeah, exercise them
    Bleu Oleander: yes
    Eos Amaterasu: inhabit them
    Bleu Oleander: :)
    Eos Amaterasu: very PaBy
    Bleu Oleander: :) yes
Bleu Oleander: well I must get going
Bleu Oleander: nice to see you
    Bleu Oleander: take care
Eos Amaterasu: great to chat with you, and share this space
    Eos Amaterasu: ciao!
    Bleu Oleander: bye :)
