The Guardian for this meeting was Wol Euler...

    Qt Core: Hi Wol
    Wol Euler: hello qt!
Wol Euler: this is my last saturday of the year, I'll be in Toronto for hte next two weekends, so I'll be in the wrong timezone
Qt Core: but with the right people i suppose :-)
    Wol Euler: indeed :)
Wol Euler: it's funny, two weeks feels like a very long time
Qt Core: sometime i wonder if a "continuous" timezone scheme would work, let say with 15 or 10 if not 1 minute timezones, just to be the more natural one can
Wol Euler: that's what existed before the railway
Wol Euler: timezones were introduced because it was impossible to calculate or display journey times sensibly
Wol Euler: "So I leave Reading at noon, and arrive in Swindon at noon?"

    --BELL--

Qt Core: yes, but now we have the tech to do it and were there is no tech avaiable you watch the sun so no timezones (and no dst)
Wol Euler: well I am all in favour of no DST, as you know :)
Wol Euler: hmmm, actually: how fast do you have to travel westwards to remain perpetually in the same "number" of time?
Wol Euler: depends on your latitude, I guess, equator is broader than the tropics
Qt Core: in these past days i've often saw ads for these watches, basically 24 hours watches that say that as they go slower you go slower and appreciate time/life more
Wol Euler: yes, I saw those, it's an interesting concept
Wol Euler: there are even digital clocks that are imprecise, using words: "It's half past one", "it's quarter to three"
Qt Core: yes, on a simplistic solution 40000/24 km/hour
    Qt Core: so 1,666 km/hour
Qt Core: a labout 1.5 mach
Wol Euler: so, basically impractical :)
Qt Core: you'll need a m,ilitar plane or the old dear concorde
Wol Euler: hardly mass transport, then :)
Qt Core: or you can just walk around the north pole flag
Wol Euler: yes, it gets easier as you get further north (or south)
Wol Euler: or rather: differently difficult :)
Wol Euler: walking around the South Pole is also very impractical
Wol Euler: -60°C with hurricane-force winds
Qt Core: so you just attire like the michelin guy, grab the flag and let the wind twirl you around
    Wol Euler: ha
    Qt Core: brb
Qt Core: back i was called to see my sister able to enter some clothes that were too small for some kg, ops years ;-)
    Wol Euler: heheheh
    Wol Euler: a nice change
Qt Core: some 10 kg in a year
    Wol Euler: htat's a lot

    --BELL--

Qt Core: just this morning a food psychologist at the radio was explaining how to survive these days
    Wol Euler: ah=
    Wol Euler: do tell
Qt Core: that you must remind that you are going to celebrate a feast and enjoy it, not going to feel guilty for breaching your dieting.
Qt Core: that is consider it a feast, not a concession
    Wol Euler nods.
    Wol Euler: true
Qt Core: i'll add a saying i discovered a few months ago "you don't get fat between christmas and new year, but between new year and christmas"
    Wol Euler laughs.
    Wol Euler: true enough
Wol Euler: it's true of the budget as well as the waistline, what hurts most is not the big feast but the daily biscuit
Qt Core: and the big feast has even good mood consequences and is even something to look out for
    Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: what will you have for the main meal?
Qt Core: no idea yet, thinking about some kind of poultry
    Wol Euler: is that traditional?

    --BELL--

Qt Core: not as the USA turkeywhere it is compulsory but here especially capon boiled or roasted is traditional
Qt Core: if you boil it you use the broth for some ravioli too
    Wol Euler nods.
Qt Core: i need to go, RL calling
Qt Core: bye Wol, have a nice day
Wol Euler: bye qt, take care
Wol Euler: and a merry christmas to you!
Wol Euler: I hope you have a happy holiday
Qt Core: merry christmas to you too (i'm aiming more at a quiet one ;-) )
    Wol Euler smiles.
