Eden Haiku: Sorry, I was eating breakfast afk :)
Catrinamonblue Resident: it's ok :) no worries

    --BELL--

Eden Haiku: Weather is wonderful here, chilly, sunny, with golden trees!
Eden Haiku: How is it in Trenton?
Catrinamonblue Resident: same here :) I'll be going out walking this afternoon :)
    Catrinamonblue Resident: Morning Riddle :)
    Riddle Sideways: hi Eden
    Riddle Sideways: hi Cat
    Riddle Sideways: hi morning
Eden Haiku: Ah nice! I walked my first 5000 steps this morning. Will complete the 10,000 later today. Hi Riddle!
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
Riddle Sideways: hey the sun is sort of up this time
Eden Haiku: Yes, I checked California time, you are back to normal time too. Nice to see the light earlier isn'it?
Riddle Sideways: cats like it too
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
Eden Haiku: Nervous about the 51 or so things to vote for tomorrow?
Riddle Sideways: Cat, saw cute Sam yesterday, but did not want to say anything in meeting
Riddle Sideways: S.F. has about that many.
Catrinamonblue Resident: :) thanks, was cleaning out inventory a bit
Riddle Sideways: let's see ... here it is about 27
Eden Haiku: Missed the Guardians meetings, so sorry. I had made a note then got carried away in my work. Another deadline for Friday :(
Eden Haiku: 27 is not too bad, but still you need to focus!
Riddle Sideways: deadlines, deadlines, you have so many deadlines
Riddle Sideways: yes, need a couple study periods to get through it
Eden Haiku: I know, and it's only planning next year's work when the book will be out...
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
Eden Haiku: The publishiing house does a lot of preparatory work and is asking a lot from me too, but at least this part is much fun to do.
Catrinamonblue Resident: fun is good :)
Eden Haiku: Like saying which Book Fair I would like to attend:)
    Catrinamonblue Resident: cool :)
Riddle Sideways: checking which book fair includes chocolate
    Catrinamonblue Resident: mmmmmm ;)

    Settling in a new life

Eden Haiku: How are you settling in the new town and new house and the new life Cat?
Catrinamonblue Resident: still having a hard time believing this is my life :) it's such a lovely place and Trenton is so walkable :)
Riddle Sideways: are there local ballot issues to get behind or away from?
Catrinamonblue Resident: The only real downside is I miss my kids
Eden Haiku: There is one sweet question: what is it that the publishing house should know about me so they could make things easier for me. I answered: I'm vegan :)
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
    Riddle Sideways: that is thoughtful

    --BELL--

Eden Haiku: Wonderful that the new city is walkable! Can you make time for walks with your teleworking?
Riddle Sideways: how long does 10,000 steps take?
Catrinamonblue Resident: I'm trying. Still a bit of chaos in the work sched but I'm making an effort to get out at least 2 times a week :)
Eden Haiku: About 1 hour and a half or 2 hours, depending of the steps. .
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
Riddle Sideways: so, with wearable computers and a charged up cell phone, Cat could walk
Riddle Sideways: of course Riddle never did
Catrinamonblue Resident: and work :) yes did that last week, chatted on the phone with one of the girls while out :)
Eden Haiku: My weight is going down easily and my health so improving that my doctor had to lower my thyroid medication for the 1st time in 23 years!
Catrinamonblue Resident: Oh that's awesome Eden!!!!!
    Riddle Sideways: very good
Eden Haiku: The veggies help too. No more dairy, no more eggs. Have been off meat for years
Riddle Sideways: 23 years on a med !!!!
Eden Haiku: Yes I know, I was so scared having to take that. My only medecine. After 2 years in India, with all the vaccines and the iodine in the water, my thyroid was off balance...
Catrinamonblue Resident: I love cheese... I couldn't imagine giving up eating it....
Eden Haiku: That was a bit hard. I do eat a bit of goat cheese on birthdays and celebrations :)
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
Riddle Sideways: yes! cheese would be a huge loss
Riddle Sideways: son and sister have gone dairy-free, but they eat meat

    ‘Wonderious’ ginger!

Eden Haiku: I feast on Mung beans and carrot/orange fresh juice with ginger and I feel wonderful
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
Riddle Sideways: ginger is so wonderious
Catrinamonblue Resident: I'm not a huge fan of ginger.....
Riddle Sideways: ok, adding mung beans to the shoppping list, it has been a long time
Eden Haiku: All metabolisms are different,,, I have done a lot therapy to be able to be in touch with what my body needs. It so such a pleasure to to feel what it needs:)
Catrinamonblue Resident: though perhaps I just haven't had it in the right recipe
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
    Riddle Sideways: yes (to both)
Eden Haiku: Adding fresh ginger to a smoothie gives a lot of stamina and taste too :)
Riddle Sideways: don't like ginger tea, unless stomach needs it and then it tastes ok
Eden Haiku: Sorry I'm sounding such a health nut this morning :)
Catrinamonblue Resident: it's fine :) it's interesting to hear :)
Riddle Sideways: years and years ago there was a period of almost militant over diet needs and studies and regulation and variety
Eden Haiku: Beware: I'm not a saint. I have a tendency to drink too much red wine once in a while :)
Riddle Sideways: then got into a state of listening to the body
Riddle Sideways: and listening to cravings
    Catrinamonblue Resident: nods :)
Eden Haiku: Yes Riddle, listening to cravings is important too. And the cravings evolve
Riddle Sideways: the difference between cute cravings for chocolate and real need cravings for ginger
Riddle Sideways: when stomach is off
Catrinamonblue Resident: I more or less eat what I feel like eating. I just keep portion sizes reasonable and lucky that I happen to really like fruits and most veggies :)

    --BELL--

Eden Haiku: Yes, that is great Cat.. And healthy:)
Catrinamonblue Resident: walking helps for the healthy part too :)
Riddle Sideways: the farm box once a week brings different veggies that are not usual in this house
Riddle Sideways: get to try new things or revisit old friends
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
Riddle Sideways:Romanesco was last weeks neat thing

    Expecting

    2-Korel with blue glasses.jpg

    Riddle Sideways: Hi Korel
    Catrinamonblue Resident: Morning Kori :)
    Korel Laloix: Heya
Catrinamonblue Resident: How are things Kori? how is married life treating you?
Korel Laloix smiles.. silly busy as normal.
Korel Laloix: Sama is well, still looking at late March for the baby.
Catrinamonblue Resident: That's so exciting :)
    Riddle Sideways: yes
Korel Laloix: Just sent the step mom on her way back home last night... so settling down again.
Korel Laloix: How about everyone else?
Riddle Sideways: seem to be getting better all the time
Catrinamonblue Resident: Doing well here :) I moved in Sept to a new town and I'm still settling in a bit :)
Riddle Sideways: that seemed to be the topic, so far
    Catrinamonblue Resident: yes :)
    Eden Haiku: hello Kori :)
Riddle Sideways: diets that are helping
Catrinamonblue Resident: or just being healthy in general :)
    Korel Laloix: heya
Korel Laloix: I have actually been gaining a bit, so my new diet, whatever that is, is helping.
Eden Haiku: Sorry, when I'm taking a snapshot, my computer takes a loooong time to let me come back to the conversation :)
Korel Laloix: I think just more snacking at campaign events.
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
Eden Haiku: loves your blue glasses Korel :)
Riddle Sideways: yes, most of those events have sweets sitting there
Korel Laloix: I can change the color.. smiles
Riddle Sideways: nice, but just changed to orange
Eden Haiku: The campaign will be finished on Tuesday night :)
Riddle Sideways: orange is the new blue :)
    Korel Laloix: lol
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
    Eden Haiku: and green :)
    Riddle Sideways: FINALLY
    Eden Haiku: light pink
Korel Laloix: There are 12 colors.
    Catrinamonblue Resident: cute :)
    Riddle Sideways: cool
Eden Haiku: Oh I like the dark pink!
Korel Laloix: That is supposed to be pink.. more purple on my view
    Eden Haiku: I'm so predictable:)
    Riddle Sideways: :)
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
Korel Laloix: Thank goodness the election is soon... between Seminary, work and her campaign stuff, I have not seen her much the last month or two.
Eden Haiku: So, do you feel ready to become a parent in March Korel?
Korel Laloix: I am not sure you can ever be ready.. lol
    Riddle Sideways: nope
    Riddle Sideways: lol
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
Korel Laloix: But between my Sunday School teaching and looking after my nieces and nephews, I think it will work out.
Riddle Sideways: you can think you are
Korel Laloix: Sama's mom is going to live with us for a while to help out...
Korel Laloix: And it looks like my half sister that is living with us right now will be around or another semester, so there should be lots of help.
Catrinamonblue Resident: It's great to get help :)

    --BELL--

    Working on names

Eden Haiku: Oh yes, that’s wonderful to have dear ones around you :)
Korel Laloix: We will see, my aunts have said they are always available as well.. so it will be fine.
Eden Haiku: Everybody seems to rejoice about this future child :) That’s great!
Korel Laloix: lol. well, no.. but things are good.
    Catrinamonblue Resident: oh dear :(
Korel Laloix: Some folks just don't like our relationship or the fact we are going to have a child.
Riddle Sideways: this is their issue
Korel Laloix: But used to that silliness.
Eden Haiku: Sorry to hear Korel :(
Korel Laloix: It is what it is...
Eden Haiku: It’s their issue yes...
Catrinamonblue Resident: good that you are not upset by it, I agree with Riddle, it's their issue
Korel Laloix: I understand certain perspectives, but in the end it is my life.. or sama's.
Eden Haiku: I have fond memories of Cosmicflower, a young Finnish mother of four with a newborn who would log in and come to the fountain while the baby was asleep...
Catrinamonblue Resident: yes for sure :)
Korel Laloix: For me, if I do decide to have a baby, I want to have a Native baby... as I agree with some folks that our DNA is being watered down.
    Catrinamonblue Resident: nods
Eden Haiku: So we will be here for you Korel, when you feel like talking about the baby or just being around while the baby sleeps
Korel Laloix: But I am not going to criticize others for not doing the same.
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
Korel Laloix: The fun part now is working on names.
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :-D
Korel Laloix: We still have not come up with a common last name for us.
Riddle Sideways: funnny that other people feel the need to criticize when you are not following their fancies
Eden Haiku: OH! Do tell us about names Korel!
Korel Laloix: So we need to figure that out.
Riddle Sideways: ah, the names thing
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
Korel Laloix: Well I have always hated my name.. have legaly changed my first and middle name.
Korel Laloix: And want to rid my last name as well.. and I would take sama's, but it would be silly with me having a famous Russian name if I took sama's.
Eden Haiku: Many parents say they find the 1st name when they see their baby :)
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
Eden Haiku: A native with a famous Russian name:)
Korel Laloix: Middle name is easy for us.. we agreed on her family tradition of making a name for a saint's day on the baby's birth day.
Riddle Sideways: that would be right, Eden, but the fun is in going over the thousands of names in those books
Catrinamonblue Resident: oh that's lovely :)
Korel Laloix: We both have Saint's names for our middle names already... so that was easy for us..
Eden Haiku: I was born on Saint-Augustine day and my grandma insisted my parents should name be Augustine. I'm very happy they resisted her wish :)
Catrinamonblue Resident: my children each have 2 middle names :)
Korel Laloix: But the Russians have such beautiful names though...
    Catrinamonblue Resident: yes :)
Eden Haiku: I love Aliocha. Is a boy or a girl? Do you know yet?
Korel Laloix: Sama's full name is just gorgeous.
Korel Laloix: Same does not want to know.
Korel Laloix: It is a family thing for them.
Eden Haiku: Ah! So you need 2 lists!
Catrinamonblue Resident: sometimes it's fun to be surprised :)
Korel Laloix: I do though.. lol. but her choice.
Korel Laloix: It will also depend on how dark the kid is as well.
Korel Laloix: My father is not that dark really... and mixed with sama's natural blond... no idea what we are going to end up with.
Korel Laloix: I think she/he will be beautiful though.. smiles
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
Korel Laloix: But most of our short list are Russian names.
    Riddle Sideways: smiles
Eden Haiku: It will be a beautiful child for sure.
Korel Laloix: And of course her dad wants a Vladimir II..lol

    --BELL--

Korel Laloix: And I don't actually mind that name, but Sama dislikes Putin too much to override her love for her father... so complicated.
Eden Haiku: I once knew a black woman from Guyana whose husband was Chinese. They had the most gorgeous brilliant teenage boys I ever saw!
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)

A smart kid with Native DNA

    3-Korel, Eden, Riddle and Catrina.jpg

Korel Laloix: If the kid is not smart, she/he is going to have a hard time around our house as we are both such geeks... lol
    Korel Laloix: house
Eden Haiku: But the genetics are different with two women having a child I guess :)
Korel Laloix: We did not go that way though.
Catrinamonblue Resident: kids are like sponges they'll be smart just being around you guys :)
Korel Laloix: But Sama wanted DNA as close to me as possible.. and I have no full brothers.
Eden Haiku: Ah I see :)
Korel Laloix: So my father agreed.. which means my child will be half sister as well?.. lol
Riddle Sideways: of course parenthood makes you dumber, just ask a teenager
Catrinamonblue Resident: lol true Riddle :)
    Eden Haiku: laughs
Korel Laloix: Another complication... but managable.. and this is actually not uncomon... so we are not that odd.
    Korel Laloix: lol
Catrinamonblue Resident: Kori that's awesome that your dad was able to be there and help you guys in such a special way :)
Korel Laloix: Some very awkward chats on that topic.
Korel Laloix: Convincing my stepmom was the hard part really.
    Catrinamonblue Resident: yes, it's complicated
Korel Laloix: But Sama can talk almost anyone into anything... lol
    Eden Haiku: I guess....
Eden Haiku: Families are really changing aren't they?
Korel Laloix: have been for a while when you look at it.
Korel Laloix: My mom was one of 11 I think.
    Riddle Sideways: wow
Catrinamonblue Resident: leaps and bounds changing and for the better I think. Acceptance is key :)
Eden Haiku: True Korel. But there were so many family secrets...
Korel Laloix: But there is increasing disconnection between the generations though.

Day-cares and eldercare in the same building

Korel Laloix: Almost half of US kids actually spend any time with the grandpartents.
Korel Laloix: So that is a slide.
Korel Laloix: wow I can't type today. I corrected the typos]
    Riddle Sideways: :)
Korel Laloix: Half never spend any time with grandparents
Korel Laloix: Very slow day at work.
Eden Haiku: Ah yes, the way we treat the elders in our society is quite terrible.. So sad...
Catrinamonblue Resident: yes that is not good...
Riddle Sideways: most no longer live in the same village as the grandparents anymore
    Catrinamonblue Resident: yes
Eden Haiku: But young fathers take care of the kids now and young grandparents are very close to the little ones.
Catrinamonblue Resident: hard to visit when hours and hours of driving involved
Riddle Sideways: there is a movement to have day-cares and eldercare in the same building
    Korel Laloix: That sounds fun.
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
Eden Haiku: My brother moved from NewFoundland to be close to his grandkids to be. Now is he's going to have four of them!
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
Eden Haiku: Yes, that's wonderful Riddle. Heard about that. A great idea.
Catrinamonblue Resident: I'm sorry guys, I need to go. I have some work to get finished before I can get out for my walk :)
Korel Laloix: Sama's parents are in Florida and her extended familiy is in Saint Petersberg and Siberia somewhre.
Eden Haiku: Me too :) Thank you for being you Cat and have a nice day:)
Riddle Sideways: thanks for the chat and get that walk in :)
    Korel Laloix: Ciao
Catrinamonblue Resident: :) good luck Kori :) keep us in the loop :)
    Korel Laloix: Take care.
    Korel Laloix: Thanks.
    Korel Laloix: Back to work.
    Riddle Sideways: so exciting, Kori
    Riddle Sideways: by all
    Korel Laloix smiles
Eden Haiku: Bye Riddle :). Nice to have you this morning Korel, take care dear :)
