Aggers recorded this from her chat
Tura Brezoianu: Before my time then, just
Zen (Zen Arado): Hi Alma
Tura Brezoianu: hi Alma, Agatha
Alma di Masala (Almadi Masala): hi Agatha
Zen (Zen Arado): Hi Agatha
Agatha Macbeth: Evening all
Zen (Zen Arado): architecture was unusual at UEA
Tura Brezoianu: All concrete
Agatha Macbeth: What's UEA?
Zen (Zen Arado): University of East Anglia
Agatha Macbeth: Ah
Zen (Zen Arado): yes supposed to be modernistic or something
Agatha Macbeth: Isn't everything made of concrete these days?
Agatha Macbeth: Luci :)
Agatha Macbeth: Riddle :)
Riddle Sideways: sorry, late
Zen (Zen Arado): I remember we had a disco and we all walked up to a place like an old barn something
Agatha Macbeth: You are forgiven my dear
Tura Brezoianu: UEA actually appears in Kenneth Clark's "Civilisation" series
Zen (Zen Arado): Hi Riddlle
Agatha Macbeth: Oh my
Tura Brezoianu: as a note of optimism for the future
Zen (Zen Arado): Hi Luci
Zen (Zen Arado): that's quite an old series now isn't it?
Tura Brezoianu: hi Luci, Riddle
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): Hi Zen, Agatha,Tura,Almadi,Riddle
Tura Brezoianu: yes, from the 60 or early 70s
Riddle Sideways: hi All
Agatha Macbeth: Good heavens, my era
Riddle Sideways: oh dear, mine too
Agatha Macbeth: Hehe
Zen (Zen Arado): :-)
Tura Brezoianu: me also, I remember watching that
Agatha Macbeth: Erk
Zen (Zen Arado): How is everybody dreaming this week ?
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): I am arriving from a frustrating task...trying to create a username for Social Security:(I will enjoy calming!
Alma di Masala (Almadi Masala): it's been interesting
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): listens
Agatha Macbeth: Oh my
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): can you say more?
Alma di Masala (Almadi Masala): I had 3 dreams with lucid moments
Riddle Sideways: may you live in Interesting dreams
Agatha Macbeth: Woot
Alma di Masala (Almadi Masala): one of them, I don't know what to make of
Zen (Zen Arado): That's greatAma
Zen (Zen Arado): Alma
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): :)
Agatha Macbeth: We're here to help :p
Alma di Masala (Almadi Masala): two of them were the usual thing ... realize I'm dreaming and immediately wake up
Tura Brezoianu: /listens for more
Alma di Masala (Almadi Masala): but the third ...
Alma di Masala (Almadi Masala): I woke with a memory of having been lucid in a dream for quite a long time, but I could not remember most of the content of the dream
Zen (Zen Arado): that must be annoying
Alma di Masala (Almadi Masala): All I could recall was being with a group of people walking across an open field to a school building. I remember feeling happy that I was lucid and amazed at how long it lasted. I recall looking at my hands as a reality test.
Alma di Masala (Almadi Masala): I don't recall how I became lucid (if I really was)
Alma di Masala (Almadi Masala): so it is very puzzling ... does it count as a lucid dream if I can't recall most of it?
Zen (Zen Arado): I'm wondering if lucid dreams should be easier to remember than ordinary dreams
Zen (Zen Arado): you would think they should
Alma di Masala (Almadi Masala): it seems that they should be
Alma di Masala (Almadi Masala): but I had been having trouble with dream recall in general that week
Tura Brezoianu: If a tree falls in the forest and everyone forgets about it, did it fall? :)
Zen (Zen Arado): :-)
Agatha Macbeth nods
Zen (Zen Arado): if there was no one there it didn't happen anyway :-)
Alma di Masala (Almadi Masala): but at least I recalled doing the reality test, so for that moment at least I'm pretty sure I was lucid
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): I I do not know. I have had lots of dreams where somethingvery mysterious about the dream is waking me up...and then they do not last much longer.
Zen (Zen Arado): the last two nights I was really annoyed because I had long dreams but didn't remember a thing about them
Alma di Masala (Almadi Masala) nods
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): If it was scary I sometimes made a choice regarding that.
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): I like noticing something that requires more information and seeing what happens next
Zen (Zen Arado): I was trying to find out more about why I don't remember dreams
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): very rare for me now
Zen (Zen Arado): I found something in one of my books
Zen (Zen Arado): 'It seems that when we are confronted by the possibility of recognizing that we’re dreaming, our egoic sense of self often tries to confabulate a seemingly rational explanation for the reality of the situation. For example, we might see a flying elephant and be on the cusp of lucidity, but then convince ourselves that flying elephants are quite common in this part of the world.'
Alma di Masala (Almadi Masala): yes, the "interpreter"
Zen (Zen Arado): 'In the Castaneda text The Art of Dreaming, the protagonist Don Juan tells his student that our rational mind will try to protect itself if we encounter ideas or concepts in our dreams that seek to usurp our notion of accepted rationality. This idea of rationality fighting for its own survival in the face of irrational dream experiences is one that beginner lucid dreamers may sporadically encounter, often in the form of dream characters denying that they are ‘the stuff of dreams’ as our rational mind tries to maintain control over the dreaming status quo. '
Zen (Zen Arado): Done
Zen (Zen Arado): seems to be left rational brain trying to establish normality or something
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): as tho we need a plot
Zen (Zen Arado): I find this terrible reluctance to recall dreams as soon as I wake up sometimes
Alma di Masala (Almadi Masala): I find many of my dreams just don't fit into the conceptual categories of waking thought, so I can sort of remember them just as I am waking, but I cannot get them into words
Riddle Sideways: ah that might be the problem
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): remembering this very interesting idea about traveling on a grid of the dream weave
Zen (Zen Arado): Dragon just crashed
Riddle Sideways: ouch
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): exploring in a very deep and exploratory way
Zen (Zen Arado): yes Luci?
Tura Brezoianu: No passengers hurt?
Alma di Masala (Almadi Masala): poor dragon!
Zen (Zen Arado): :)
Agatha Macbeth: Aww
Zen (Zen Arado): say more Luci?
Alma di Masala (Almadi Masala): "dream weave" ... I like that phrase
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): my teacher had many dreams of being in a kind of grid, geometrical place...
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): she did a lot of reading about quantum physics etc and had worked extensively with Castenada as well
Zen (Zen Arado): what a comnination
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): the universe traveler
Riddle Sideways: and did she want yyou to dream in grids too?
Zen (Zen Arado): though quantum physics is pretty strange
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): no in her thinking we are dream in ways that are unique to principles that guide the experience
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): meant all dream
Zen (Zen Arado): if you studied math you would have math dreams?
Riddle Sideways: if you lived in SL you would have SL dreams ?
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): maybe but math might be something one is attracted to and therefore it becomes pnes area of focus
Zen (Zen Arado): my dreams are related to my past life experiences usually
Zen (Zen Arado): I had a re-entry dream this week
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): can you say more?
Tura Brezoianu: re-entry sounds intriguing
Zen (Zen Arado): I was sitting in a classroom at an Open University tutorial. Paul Haller, my Zen teacher, walked in and started asking the tutor about the course we were doing. The tutor started to explain but Paul said he had already done one course. Then he started to get very twitchy as if he was taking a seizure or something. I think I woke up then but then went back into the dream.
Zen (Zen Arado): This time Paul was sitting on a park bench and I went and sat down beside him and started chatting. Then we walked together back to a place where he was taking a retreat. It seemed to be in some European country. I sat near the front of the class with him and I seem to be wearing have kind of robe but it looked more like a dressing gown. There were two young guys, an older man and they started complaining that the retreat was too monotonous. I just sat and said nothing and then I woke up.
Zen (Zen Arado): done
Zen (Zen Arado): I haven't seen this teacher for a few yers
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): :)thanks for sharing it...
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): practice can be monotonous
Zen (Zen Arado): anybody else have this type of dream
Zen (Zen Arado): ?
Riddle Sideways: what is re-entry about it?
Riddle Sideways: that Paul was in both?
Alma di Masala (Almadi Masala): I sometimes have several dreams in one night that seem to be like chapters in a single story.
Zen (Zen Arado): well I woke up for a bit
Riddle Sideways: Ah, yes
Alma di Masala (Almadi Masala): re-entering the dream
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): probably in regard to work when it is stressful
Zen (Zen Arado): different dream but same guy in it
Riddle Sideways: two nights ago had 3 of those dreams
Zen (Zen Arado): and I remembered them so well
Zen (Zen Arado): remember them Riddle?
Riddle Sideways: 1.oin and out of building A. wake/sleep outside building B
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): maybe we create stories that are stretching our view
Riddle Sideways: awake-asleep and inside Building B
Riddle Sideways: darn cat jumping on bed
Zen (Zen Arado): :)
Agatha Macbeth: ^.^
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): learning and listening in the dream
Zen (Zen Arado): my careworkers came in and woke me this morning and I think that's why I didn't recall anything
Riddle Sideways: thought maybe the dream went on waling to the other building during the wake period
Zen (Zen Arado): worse than an alarm clock
Riddle Sideways: "The Wakers"
Zen (Zen Arado): I try to wake bfore they come
Agatha Macbeth had to read that twice
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): for me there is often a cat involved in my waking
Riddle Sideways: yes! the 4am face kitty time
Tura Brezoianu: The careworkers from Porlock.
Zen (Zen Arado): :)
Zen (Zen Arado): there are techniques for re-entering dreams
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): I try to say to myself that I am "going back in" to sleep
Zen (Zen Arado): I made some notes if anyone is interested?
Tura Brezoianu: lying in the same position I woke up in helps, or helps recall it if I don't go back to sleep
Zen (Zen Arado): yes Tura
Tura Brezoianu: I'd like to hear that
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): if there was a dream I try to replay as if with a remote.
Zen (Zen Arado): 'Have you ever wakened from a marvelous dream wishing you could reenter it? Actually, you can. Working independently around the globe, dreamers and lucid dreamers have identified the characteristic actions that enable you to re-enter a dream from which you have just awakened. Often, a lucid dream will restart at this point and carry you along lucidly, just as if you had skipped ten seconds in a videotape.
Zen (Zen Arado): How to Re-enter a Dream After waking from a dream or lucid dream, use these steps to re-enter it:
Get your physical body in the exact position you were in upon waking. Or, better yet, do not move at all upon waking.
With your eyes closed, imagine the end of the dream (or the last fifteen seconds), as if looking at a picture or movie. Let this image become real-seeming to you (you may reenter at this point and the lucid dream may begin). Or choose an item or dream figure to cast your awareness into and begin perceiving the dream from this vantage point. Allow the dream to continue.
Zen (Zen Arado): done
Zen (Zen Arado): not sure if that would work for me though
Riddle Sideways: might work for Alma
Zen (Zen Arado): it seems it has to happen naturally
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): helps if it is dark...for me
Zen (Zen Arado): easier near morning for me
Zen (Zen Arado): but frustrating if you can't get back to a really nice dream
Alma di Masala (Almadi Masala): I'm usually not alert enough to be able to remember the instructions
Zen (Zen Arado): me either
Alma di Masala (Almadi Masala): or if I am alert enough, then I'm too alert to fall back asleep
Zen (Zen Arado): problem is the left brain is out of commission during dreaming?
Zen (Zen Arado): and right brain isn'tinterested in instructions:)
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): it feels to me like the dream unfolding is less controlled than when left brain gets involved...staying with images and collecting them seems less logical and controlled
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): more evolving
Zen (Zen Arado): yes Luci
Zen (Zen Arado): but the left brain has to organise the memory of the dream?
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): and I have a feeling ourwhole bodies are involved in the evolving
Zen (Zen Arado): dreams are ssuch a mystery still
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): I suppose left brain does.. organize but our resting receptivity is dreawing from the whole bodies intentions
Zen (Zen Arado): one of my careworkers asked me what a recurrent dream meant
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): whole body drives the bus
Zen (Zen Arado): I'm not sure about interpreting other's dreams
Alma di Masala (Almadi Masala): I think left brain has to get involved if we are going to record a dream in words, but maybe there are other kinds of memory that don't involve words
Zen (Zen Arado): she has a recurrent dream about dirty toilets
Zen (Zen Arado): one of the other careworkers looked it up online and gave her an answer
Riddle Sideways: what did she say?
Alma di Masala (Almadi Masala): not a good approach to dream interpretation
Zen (Zen Arado): but I'm not sure there are valid answers like that?
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): I think of toilet as the center for letting go...I often feel like the recurrent dreams can be our curiousity or our way of trying to learn to let go...
Zen (Zen Arado): ha they say - hey you are into dreams, what does this mean?
Alma di Masala (Almadi Masala): it depends on what personal associations she has with dirty toilets
Zen (Zen Arado): yes agree Alma
Alma di Masala (Almadi Masala): you can't look that up online
Tura Brezoianu: A bit like trying to interpret the mementos on someone else's shelves.
Alma di Masala (Almadi Masala): exactly, Tura
Zen (Zen Arado): it could be you need to get up and go to the toilet:)
Riddle Sideways: yes, Zen that is what it usually means
Zen (Zen Arado): but people like definite answers, don't they?
Alma di Masala (Almadi Masala): maybe Google will give us a dream interpreter that works like their translator ... type in your dream and it gives you the meaning
Zen (Zen Arado): anyone else have a dream they want to share?
Tura Brezoianu: I had another "anxiety dream" a couple of days ago.
Zen (Zen Arado): listens to Tura
Alma di Masala (Almadi Masala) listens
Tura Brezoianu: This one was about being double-booked, trying to attend two conferences on the same weekend, one in Paris and one in London. I was trying to shuttle between them by train, which didn't work very well.
Tura Brezoianu: At the same time I was thinking I should just have cut one of them that I wasn't much interested in anyway, or even cut both of them.
Tura Brezoianu: I think there's a message there about dividing my energies between different projects and not paying enough attention to which of them are actually worth doing.
Tura Brezoianu: done
Zen (Zen Arado): there's a lot of anxiety about travel isn't there?
Zen (Zen Arado): missing planes etc
Tura Brezoianu: Travelling is always a source of anxiety in my dreams.
Riddle Sideways: and in RL
Tura Brezoianu: Pretty stressful in RL too
Agatha Macbeth: I avoid it whenever possible
Zen (Zen Arado): maybe it's a case of healing the stress?
Alma di Masala (Almadi Masala): being unsettled, in transition
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): yes
Alma di Masala (Almadi Masala): neither here nor there
Zen (Zen Arado): so many things to go wrong
Zen (Zen Arado): but we enjoy that too, don't we?
Zen (Zen Arado): deliberately stressing ourselves
Riddle Sideways: an aerobic exercise, good for the heart
Tura Brezoianu: I enjoy long-distance bike rides, but then I'm in control the whole way. Travel arrangements are always dependent on the trains running on time and so forth.
Agatha Macbeth: As Mussolini said
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): this might sound out there but based on my dream experiences I have a technique I try... try to send good vibes to everyone involved in the travel...that they will be able to know everything they could possibly need to know t accomplish their job safely.
Zen (Zen Arado): I get scared my electric wheelchair will break down
Agatha Macbeth: Out there is good!
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): :)
Riddle Sideways: Luci has hippie tendencies
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): it helped me to get beyond my fears
Agatha Macbeth: Supergirl in pyjamas
Alma di Masala (Almadi Masala): sounds a little like tong len practice, Luci
Zen (Zen Arado): :)
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): yes she does
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): ah! good to know Alma
Zen (Zen Arado): 'I'm giving her good vibrations'
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): :)
Riddle Sideways: now that Beach Boys songs is stuck
Zen (Zen Arado): ha ha
Zen (Zen Arado): blame Luci :)
Agatha Macbeth: Bless her
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): :)
Zen (Zen Arado): ok session is finished but welcome to stay
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): thank you all for this time!
Agatha Macbeth: Wonder if Liz wants me to log this?
Zen (Zen Arado): thanks everybody
Agatha Macbeth: TC Luci
Zen (Zen Arado): could you please Aggers?
Agatha Macbeth: Oh I'll do it anyway
Riddle Sideways: lunch is finished, need to get back outside and assemble new composer
Agatha Macbeth: Yeh
Alma di Masala (Almadi Masala): I would think so, Agatha
Agatha Macbeth: OK
Zen (Zen Arado): composer?
Riddle Sideways: rotating bins
Alma di Masala (Almadi Masala): I need to run along
Zen (Zen Arado): I want a drone
Agatha Macbeth: TC
Zen (Zen Arado): bye Alma
Tura Brezoianu imagines robo-Mozart kit
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): hey! speaking of composer...check out my new conductors youtube channel called Ask a Maestro...will white is his namde
Agatha Macbeth: Isn't that a male bee?
Alma di Masala (Almadi Masala): bye for now, and happy dreaming!
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): enjoy your day all!
Agatha Macbeth: BFN
Riddle Sideways: oh! now see the missing T
Luci (Lucinda Lavender): and your dream:)
Tura Brezoianu: goodnight folks
Zen (Zen Arado): not sure where you can fly drones
Agatha Macbeth: Night Tu
Zen (Zen Arado): bye everybody
Riddle Sideways: good day, folks
Agatha Macbeth: A hive?
Zen (Zen Arado): :)
Agatha Macbeth: Bye Rid
Agatha Macbeth: Anyways, take care
