Riddle and I had a visitor toward the end of the session
Riddle Sideways: Good Morning Adams ㋡
--BELL--
Riddle Sideways: here we are again. have already gotten the olde computer crash out of the way
Adams Rubble: Good morning Riddle :)
Adams Rubble: I hope the only crash
Riddle Sideways: one can always hope
Riddle Sideways: ㋡
Adams Rubble: :)
Adams Rubble: The snow is beginning to do some melting here
Adams Rubble: lots to go
Adams Rubble: one hopes for Spring
Riddle Sideways: so temp is up. good
Riddle Sideways: Hope Springs eternal
Adams Rubble: may be a second polar vortex though
Riddle Sideways: That Vortex may have lost its polar
Riddle Sideways: or path
Adams Rubble: a bit like herding cattle. The forces herding in the cold air fall apart and the cattle escpae
Adams Rubble: escape
Adams Rubble: then run around US
Adams Rubble: creating havoc
Adams Rubble: and joing forces with the green deal to paralyze Texas
Riddle Sideways: a Bull market in the chinese shop
Adams Rubble: which topic would you like to explore?
Riddle Sideways: some are pointing to a couple issues Texas brought on themselves in the energy area
Riddle Sideways: getting rid of regulations was oh so good thing to do
Riddle Sideways: and standardizing was a no good thing
Adams Rubble: the little doggies are freezing
I began what I thought were subtle moves toward a topic, in this case discernment
Adams Rubble: Discernment
Riddle Sideways: a Lone star state went it alone on making many grids that don't work together
Adams Rubble: OK, the Yellow Rose has turned to ice
Adams Rubble: Discernment
Adams Rubble: Prajna
Riddle Sideways: some how, some Texans wanted cheap electricity then, but expensive later
Adams Rubble: prajna usually means wisdom
Adams Rubble: but in the abhidharma is means discernment
Adams Rubble: it means
Adams Rubble: discernment needed to explore the nature of reality
Adams Rubble: I like your coat btw
Riddle Sideways: thanks. need a warm coat
Riddle Sideways: the Eliza plot is snow covered now
Riddle Sideways: and standing in the rainbird is mighty chilly
Riddle Sideways: need a good coat
--BELL--
Riddle Sideways: checking Webster for all the Discernment options
Riddle Sideways: ok, thought to be funny about looking up Discernment.
Riddle Sideways: but with a pause...
Adams Rubble is surprised to hear that Eliza's plot got snowed on
Riddle Sideways: first surprise was no advert to buy discernment cheaper and free shipping
Adams Rubble listens
Riddle Sideways: Florida people know what snow looks like ㋡
Riddle Sideways: then there was a merriam-webster define link
Riddle Sideways: then Wikipedia
Riddle Sideways: then the next 123 were Christian writings
Riddle Sideways: there sure are a Lot of writings that concern discernment
Adams Rubble: hmmm, interesting about the Christian writings
I had never heard of discernment used in a Christian context but after the session I found it is very important especially among Catholics. Priests and other religious must carefully discern their calling before making the commitment. Like Buddhism the ability to distinguish is an important spiritual trait.
Adams Rubble: I meditated a bit on discernement as an important component of wisdom last night
Adams Rubble: our ability to look clearly, without prejudice
Adams Rubble: to make the right choices
Adams Rubble: I guess not such a great topic :)
Riddle Sideways: oh it is a good topic
Riddle Sideways: sorry, was scanning all the others that have meditated on Discernment
Riddle Sideways: and felt so moved to publish what they thought
--BELL--
Adams Rubble: :)
Riddle Sideways: this is like Wow there is a lot there
Adams Rubble: before last night I had not thought much about discernment
Riddle Sideways: before now, had not thought much about discernment
Riddle Sideways: well, not by that one word
Riddle Sideways: think a lot about how much time put into thinking of the best way to do something
Riddle Sideways: and have somebody else come along and state that that way is Wrong
Adams Rubble: well it depends whose discernment is better I guess
Adams Rubble: :)
Riddle Sideways: hehehehehehe
Riddle Sideways: whoops meant hahahaha
Riddle Sideways: not gender
Riddle Sideways: however, EveryBody knows males are not good at discernment
Riddle Sideways: it would not work to have report cards or hovertext that shows ones previous correctness of discerning matters
Adams Rubble: sometimes males and females have a different perspective but their discernment powers are equal
Riddle Sideways: because even the wrong people get it right sometimes
Adams Rubble: yes about the preconditions like hover text
Adams Rubble: the wisdom beyond our clouds is genderless
Riddle Sideways: and how many times one scored better on varying levels of importance does not predict their next correctness
Adams Rubble: I can hear the wind outside in the chimes on the porch
Riddle Sideways: nice
Riddle Sideways: Brings it back to the Texas wife of a ex-co-worker
Riddle Sideways: and the questions of her Discernment
Riddle Sideways: somehow got friended
Riddle Sideways: and get these prayer blasts
Adams Rubble laughs...uh oh, the discernment of social media topic
--BELL--
Riddle Sideways: yep. there have been too deep of conversations here about social media
Adams Rubble: I am going to try to use the word "discernment" only in relation to looking at the nature of reality
Riddle Sideways: ok
Adams Rubble: Because this is in text I must add that I am saying that with some humility
Adams Rubble: and some determination
Adams Rubble: not a vow but an intention :)
A visitor joins us and I try to expalin what we are about
Adams Rubble: Hello Luba
Luba Radmussen: hello
Adams Rubble: we are a Play as being group
Adams Rubble: exploring the nature of reality
Adams Rubble: have you been here before?
Riddle Sideways: hi Luba
Luba Radmussen: no, not
Adams Rubble: we also record our conversations. Do you have any objection to be recorded?
Luba Radmussen: no
Adams Rubble: thank you
Luba Radmussen: welcome
Adams Rubble: this morning we are discussing the word discernment in relation to wisdwom
Adams Rubble: wisdom
Adams Rubble: yes welcome
Adams Rubble: we have been meeting since April 2008
Riddle Sideways: Adams had just said it in the context of exploring the nature of reality
Riddle Sideways: Discernment
Adams Rubble: it began with an exercise of stopping every 15 minutes and mediating for 9 seconds
Adams Rubble: our founder called it the 1% tax for people too busy to mediatte
Adams Rubble: our founder moved on after a few years but some of us have continued
Riddle Sideways: therefore discernment gets to the discerning powers of each person as they perceive their reality
Adams Rubble: none of us have the discipline to continue that mediattion practice but do find it helpful to stop and look at ourselves whenever we remember
Adams Rubble: sometimes we can be surprised at what our mind is doing :)
Adams Rubble: catch our mind unawares
Adams Rubble: what thoughts are brewing
Riddle Sideways: 9 seconds is about one really nice breath
Riddle Sideways: use to use a timer gong app on phone to gong for 9 seconds every 15
Adams Rubble: yes, I did too
Riddle Sideways: a sound to ask "where are you"
Adams Rubble: :)
Adams Rubble: who are you?
Adams Rubble: are you experiencing positive or negative energy at the time you are wstopping
Adams Rubble: if negative, can you stop it and shift to positive
--BELL--
Adams Rubble: otherwise it is so hard to get rid of our negative thoughts once they catch on
Adams Rubble: somebody says somethign to get us made
Adams Rubble: and we carry it around all day
Adams Rubble: unless we are able to stop and see what is happening
Adams Rubble: get us mad, not made :)
Adams Rubble: ohh, as you see, we have a timer here that goes off approximately every 15 minutes and we pause for 90 seconds
Adams Rubble: is useful sometimes to reset our conversation
Adams Rubble: when we go off on tangents
Adams Rubble: we usually meet for an hour
Adams Rubble: sometimes go a bit overtime
Riddle Sideways: often
Adams Rubble: from 7-8 Second Life time on Tuesdays and Thursdays
Adams Rubble: do you have any questions Luba?
Luba Radmussen: not yet
Adams Rubble: I have been going on and on :)
Riddle Sideways: you have been saying what is in that notecard that can't be found in this inventory
Riddle Sideways: wonder where that is
Adams Rubble: the notecard got seriously out of date so I just rambled
Riddle Sideways: good
Adams Rubble: I sent you both an old card
Riddle Sideways: Liked your direction on Discernment. was about to go afar on AI and Algorithms
Adams Rubble: the meeting times are much fewer now
Riddle Sideways: yes, use to meet 4 times a day
Riddle Sideways: had many people back then
Adams Rubble: are you familiar with the Abhidharma, Riddle?
Riddle Sideways: all these cushions would be filled
Adams Rubble: It is one of the older Buddhist writings
Adams Rubble: is a list of 75 terms, that are considered to be like atoms
Riddle Sideways: heard of it a long time ago. now muddled with so many texts
Adams Rubble: one strings these terms together to make up every action that we do, every thought
Adams Rubble: I am reading a book by Steven Goodman called The Buddhist Psychology of Awakening
Riddle Sideways: just started attending a meditation group that takes one Sutra / one word a week
Adams Rubble: It is Goodman who offers the word "discernment" as a translation for the sanskrit word prajna that usually is correctly translated as wisdom
Adams Rubble: in abhidharma, prajna is the key to understanding all the other dharmas (the 75 words)
--BELL--
Adams Rubble: it is discernemnt that helps us chose correctly
Adams Rubble: I am not recommending the book but giving the background form my interest in the word today
Adams Rubble: I am rather chatty today :)
Riddle Sideways: scanning Google results it also means not only Good from Bad, but better and best
Riddle Sideways: primary and secondary
Adams Rubble: well good and bad are dualistic :)
Luba Radmussen: see you
Riddle Sideways: when there were a lot more folks here, only the fast typers got the words in
Riddle Sideways: ok, thanks Luba
Adams Rubble: wow, that was fast
Riddle Sideways: good to have a chatty Adams
Adams Rubble: yes, that is true
Adams Rubble: about the many typists
Adams Rubble: and multiple threads going on at once
Adams Rubble: with just two of us, we usually are able to keep it down to two threads
Riddle Sideways: if one thought before typing it was lost
Adams Rubble: I was a slow typer
Adams Rubble: I should say slow thinker
Adams Rubble: I can type pretty fast :)
Adams Rubble wonders what Luba thought
Riddle Sideways: yes agree
Adams Rubble: omg what is this?
Riddle Sideways: maybE
Riddle Sideways: if one goes to a place named Perfect Paradise, ya might have a clue
Riddle Sideways: but, here we are in animesh shops, rental skyboxes, skating rinks
Adams Rubble: your bots help show my Mystitool hud is working fine
Riddle Sideways: Mystitool?
Adams Rubble: thank you for your presence here today and your comments about discrnment
Adams Rubble: you don't have the hud that shows the people close by?
Riddle Sideways: oh radar
Adams Rubble: Fael introduced me to it many moons ago
Adams Rubble: yes, I guess you can call it radar
Adams Rubble: tour bots help populate the list :)
Adams Rubble: keep going closer and further away
Adams Rubble: from 62 to 77
Adams Rubble: meters
Riddle Sideways: yes, they are skating away
Riddle Sideways: on the thin ice of a New Day
Riddle Sideways: Jethro Tull
Adams Rubble: it will be a while until we meet next Tuiesday
Riddle Sideways: may you have exciting times
Adams Rubble: thank you, and may your days be bright and sunny
Riddle Sideways: by All and Thanks
Adams Rubble: and any clouds be a reminder
Adams Rubble: :)))
Adams Rubble: bye for now
