Basic Reduction Sauce or Pan Gravy Recipe
Reduction is the process of thickening or intensifying the flavor of a soup, sauce, wine, or juice by
       evaporation.

This method requires no flour or thickening agents. Be sure to explore the variations...

                                                     “Jolts”

My four-year old daughter wanted me to go down the curvy plastic slide at our neighborhood playground last weekend.  So I did, of course.  Spring in the US Midwest is a roller coaster of crazy weather; sloppy snow on one day, shorts and t-shirt warmth the next.  All of this movement of water and heat, I assume, makes the playground with its masses of plastic structures something of an electrical agent.  As I came down that slide my hair stood on end and my hands zapped the curving plastic, and when I got to the bottom I felt a significant jolt of electrons shoot between the earth - through my shoe - and into my left heel.  It got my attention, reminded me that I was HERE, and made my daughter and me laugh.

I present some jolts from April 4-6th, 2009, via the PaB chat log library...

Getting there is how to get there

SophiaSharon Larnia: I have become more fully aware of how my focus needs to change quite a bit for the topics in this group, it is like starting over.
    Scathach Rhiadra: how so?
SophiaSharon Larnia: Thinking from a scientific standpoint, it took me a while to realize this :))
Scathach Rhiadra: mmm, where do you see the scientific viewpoint?
SophiaSharon Larnia: in its objectivity.  I realize the way I interpret what is see is completely subjective, almost without exclusions.   I am a little overwhelmed by this.
Tarmel Udimo: do you mean that you 'experience' what we talk about?  Or that you have developed a very subjective point of view about what we talk about?  That you have never questioned your point of view?
SophiaSharon Larnia: Experience it in the sense that I rely on my feelings, based on my own life views and experiences in 3d, not subjective about anything discussed here.
    SophiaSharon Larnia: question constantly
    Scathach Rhiadra nods
    Tarmel Udimo: nods
Tarmel Udimo: sounds like the rest of us :-)
SophiaSharon Larnia: My life experience incorporates 'prejudices' and preconceived notions, yes, but it is startling to see it painting in colors.  To turn this 'off' is to turn to another 'self', and I don’t know how to get there.

Soothing the Gate Keeper of the mind

    (Reflecting on music…)

SophiaSharon Larnia: I feel like my self dissolve in it.
    Pila Mulligan: yep
    Bertrum Quan: dissolve in it?
SophiaSharon Larnia: yes, the thoughts that occupy my mind, recede, and all that is left is a pulse, with other pulses, joined together.
Bertrum Quan: yes, music has tremendous power that expands one's experience.
SophiaSharon Larnia:  Sooth the gatekeeper of the mind perhaps.
Bertrum Quan: Do you both see a discussion of music as a way to be more in touch with what I might call (for lack of a better term) natural mind....
SophiaSharon Larnia: yes.  I think music may have been one of the earliest social activities
Pila Mulligan: to me, playing music involves a kind of creative energy that I do not ordinarily use.  The creative energy is entirely natural, too.  Since the music I play is improvised and not structured.
    SophiaSharon Larnia: free flowing
Pila Mulligan: yep, like the drum circle, patterns emerge spontaneously
Bertrum Quan: controlled by rhythms however...
Pila Mulligan: yes, and the patterns really are arriving with the rhythm, spontaneously :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: and individuals 'connect' with the rhythm and end up in sync...like the energy is in sync
Pila Mulligan: yep, a gestalt :)
Pila Mulligan: I went to a memorial service at a black church in Virginia the day after Martin Luther King's assassination.  I've never been so uplifted by singing in my life.  It was heaven.
SophiaSharon Larnia: it would hurt my heart
Pila Mulligan: it was pure release.  All the hurt was washed away.
    SophiaSharon Larnia: :))
Pila Mulligan: but the grief remained :)
Pila Mulligan: silent prayer and meditation is more inward I'd say.  Singing and chanting are a harmony among people.

Allowing ourselves Sight, allowing ourselves Love

Stargate Tone: there's been this question in my mind today...been wondering quite much...
    Moon Fargis: oh, yes?
Stargate Tone: still donno if I've found good words enough....but...been wondering
Stargate Tone: that can it really be true that people cannot look at themselves and see what they are ...
Stargate Tone: can it still be that they truly cannot see....
Stargate Tone: well...cuz of so huge much pretending
Stargate Tone: ah so...what I think I can do....for this kind of people...the only thing I know is to love
Stargate Tone: and wish that it could help them
SophiaSharon Larnia: that is one of the most difficult concepts for me
Moon Fargis: well humans are only that much free as they allow it to themselves
Stargate Tone: yes; there's many kind of prisons
Stargate Tone: and huge many of them are creations of just normal and natural needs of human being
Stargate Tone: Sophia....could you tell some example of why you said that to love is difficult to you?
SophiaSharon Larnia: as a singular word it means so many different things, there are many kinds, and also in the past i have felt a lack of it.  Toward me personally and in me.
    Stargate Tone: hearts
SophiaSharon Larnia: you are all so lovely here
    SophiaSharon Larnia cries
    SophiaSharon Larnia: and *giggles*

    Borderless Children Hearts

sophia Placebo: The play as being idea is really great , letting people talking about one topic from different point of views, that allow us to see the similarities much easier
    Adams Rubble: :) yes
sophia Placebo: In debates we concentrate about differences , wanting to win the debate
Adams Rubble: Yes, that is a very good point.  Here we start at the end :)  Which is what we have most in common...not how we get there.   Basic seeing.
sophia Placebo: Children hearts I would say, I don’t know why I call it this
Adams Rubble: :) Yes.  Being open to everything.
sophia Placebo: More than open, borderless.

    Where will technology take us?

For a truly fascinating chat about the technology possibilities of OpenSims and PaB...I suggest reading the entire discussing at http://playasbeing.wik.is/Chat_Logs/2009/04/2009.04.05_19%3a00_-_Open_Sim_and_PaB-RL.

    Sharing 90 seconds of practice

Eliza Madrigal: Sure. In a word, I found that, like a loving parent, I was reminded to breathe...because I hadn't been...and then noticed ...how friendly I felt toward the mess on my desk and what we are about here...and smiled...and breathed...and felt a wide view

quen Oh: it is extremely complicated to try and turn down the various normal trains of thought that control me all the times like a quad processor, easier with emotions, to not let you rule by the normal simple thought (as I have to hurry because have appointment, I am warm, do I smell fire etc), focusing on breath helps Eliza!

Pema Pera: As soon as I let Being see, I felt open and accessible to the world, with all boundaries becoming more permeable, physical as well as mental partitions. My cognition too was no longer something I felt I had to hoard or keep as `mine', it felt more like a wave in the larger ocean of Being -- as if Being was thinking and observing and appreciating through me. There was an openness and calm and clarity that made me smile, looking back at the discussion here of the last hour.

I am he is, you are he is, you are me, and we are all together...

Stevenaia Michinaga: and the water molecules we drink, so there is much of the past in all of us, along with whatever they carry with them.
Threedee Shepherd: and clearly, by inference, much of the future.
Pila Mulligan: I recently read our whole physical, personal organism replaces its structure every 7 years or so (gradually).
Threedee Shepherd: approximately true Pila, I affirm as a biologist.
Pila Mulligan: so it must transfer memories as well.

I think that PaB meetings, through the medium of SL, gives us the opportunity for these jolts which stand to remind us we are HERE, that we are together, that we can inspire and be inspired.  Our individual efforts are made stronger by our group efforts.  Our lives are greatly enriched as they enrich others'...
