The Guardian for this meeting was Yaku.

    Qt Core: Hi Yaku
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey qt

    --BELL--

Qt Core: i've just updated to windows 10 and the first time i launched SL (official viewer) it was awful, a clearing of the SL cache after it was ok
Yakuzza Lethecus: i am not sure if i should upgrade
Qt Core: you have an year to think about it ;-)
Yakuzza Lethecus: i hpe they didn´t change anything about the drivers again
Yakuzza Lethecus: i have some devices that are already out of support after windows 7

Qt Core: at the moment all works, i've read about a serious issue with nvidia graphic cards but it was solved
Qt Core: at the moment the thing i miss most is borders around the windows (but i am one of the few that likes html tables with borders too ;-)
Yakuzza Lethecus: well, i have for example an laptop from 2010 where intel dropped driversupport after windows 7
Yakuzza Lethecus: there was a japanese guy who made new drivers compatible again and at the same time on that guys page i found that he also had made my ,,dell oem creative x-fi card" compatible
Yakuzza Lethecus: dell never delivered drivers after vista
Yakuzza Lethecus: and creative didn´t support their own card
Qt Core: how would they sell new hardware it they wpuld support it for eternity ;-)
Yakuzza Lethecus: well thats their issue i guess

Yakuzza Lethecus: i don´t hear the differnece between a soundblaster 16-audigy-x-fi don´t know whats new these days
Yakuzza Lethecus: but sb16 vs everythings else in the day was listanable :P
Qt Core: over some point less power consuption new compression schemes and such more than plain better sound
Qt Core: but then i tried a headphones in a shop and found them incredibly good... then i saw the proce as 260 euros
Qt Core: so something good happened after the ones i bought some 20 years ago ;-)
Yakuzza Lethecus: well i wonder how much those new pricy wonderheadphones are really better, or have psychologically advanced eq settings
Yakuzza Lethecus: as i understood they change the music a bit to make it sound better for most ppl
Qt Core: they were phisically better light on the ears but stopping the outside noise very well and didn't made my ears sweat
Yakuzza Lethecus: well ok that´s different
Qt Core: i was really thinking about buying them untill i saw the price ;-)

    --BELL--

Yakuzza Lethecus: especially those popular beats once have equalizer settings of their own
Qt Core: i've even seen some with a mic on them and that will cancel the noise it sense but keep you earing voices so you can still hear if someone calls you
Qt Core: (and than it works as a regular mic if the headphone is connected to a bluetooth phone
Yakuzza Lethecus: on the other hand, if it´s something you actually do all the time, listening to music and through less sweat and comfort you gain less issues it´s still a good price
Yakuzza Lethecus: or using headphones professionally
Qt Core: not really, i still own a 20 yo unit as i mostly don't use it
Qt Core: all in all i count a lot on my hearing and i usually feel a little lost with headphones, i use them almost only at the gym to keep my brain busy (but those are of the earbuds type)

    --BELL--

Yakuzza Lethecus: i just bought a better screen, my computer is 8 years old but somehow thought maybe i should actually go for something that shows things better rather then just faster
Yakuzza Lethecus: i was suprpised that there seems to be even a new connector standart these days
Qt Core: yes, especially as we now have almost everything we need in some web form there is no real need for very strong pc
Qt Core: well, maybe for running sl ;-)
Yakuzza Lethecus: only for high details i guess
Qt Core: the DVI connector, Yaku ?
    Yakuzza Lethecus: displayport
Qt Core: maybe to get data back from the monitor if it is a touchscreen too ?
    Yakuzza Lethecus: no
Yakuzza Lethecus: it´s a u2515h from dell, i bring it home now from germany when we leave
Yakuzza Lethecus: didn´t test it since the packaging is too good for repacking
Yakuzza Lethecus: i just risk that it might not work
Yakuzza Lethecus: just bought it because of the good reviews it had
Qt Core: ahh, a new cable indeed, but wikipedia says it could carry simple dvi too
Yakuzza Lethecus: well they did not seem to have put an adapter in my box :P
Yakuzza Lethecus: i will use hdmi

Qt Core: an interesting feature is that it is said to enable chip to chip connections so the graphic card could pilot the screen directly reducing the electronic needed in the screen itself that could become lighter, more slim and less pricey

    --BELL--

Yakuzza Lethecus: i don´t know much about that, less compatible with older devices again propably :P
    Yakuzza Lethecus: good selling argument
Yakuzza Lethecus: changing to 2.0 quickly
Yakuzza Lethecus: good marketing idea :)
Qt Core: apple (that seems to love incompatibility, especially in cables) adopted it even before it was a recognized standard (wiki says)
Yakuzza Lethecus: well they go well with it, leaving old luggage
Yakuzza Lethecus: hehe so there are we at the end of the session back at dropping :)
Qt Core: of standars, prices, users
    Yakuzza Lethecus: good night qt
    Qt Core: good night Yaku
