The Guardian for this meeting was Wol Euler.

    Eliza Madrigal waves good morning
    Wol Euler: good morning, Eliza!
Wol Euler: is this morning already?
    Eliza Madrigal: 4:31am...
    Eliza Madrigal: so technically, yes
    Wol Euler: my point :)
    Eliza Madrigal laughs....
Eliza Madrigal: just happened to wake
Wol Euler: to me 4:30 is not morning but "oh gods what am I doing awake?"

    Snapshot_006.jpg

Eliza Madrigal: I often wake now, but usually don't get 'up'
    Eliza Madrigal: but I thought...
Wol Euler: is it light yet?
Eliza Madrigal: let me see if Wol is at PaB...
    Wol Euler smiles.
Eliza Madrigal: oh no, definitely not light
Wol Euler: then it's definitely not morning!
    Wol Euler grins.
    Eliza Madrigal: :))
Eliza Madrigal: so catch me up on everything, haha
Wol Euler: having said that I love waking before dawn and waiting for the sun, in winter when it rises at a sensible time

    Wol Euler: well ... :)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Wol Euler: do you remember the episode of All in the Family where they go back to their highschool 50th reunion?
    Eliza Madrigal: I don't
Wol Euler: some guy meets Edith and says, "wow, Edith, such a long time, what have you been doing?"
Wol Euler: she starts to talk and the camera folliows someone walking past
Wol Euler: returns a minute later and he's got a glazed expression and she says "... and then in August 1957 we ..."
    Eliza Madrigal: hahaha
    Wol Euler smiles.
Eliza Madrigal: at this state of awakeness anything you say might amount to the same, but I'd read again later

    Eliza Madrigal: ;-)
    Wol Euler: okay :)
Wol Euler: well, it's been all and nothing
Wol Euler: I get up, eat breakfast, go to work, come home, have a sandwich, play WoW for an hour or two and go to bed. Repeat six times a week for up to 261 hours a month
Wol Euler: I have a four-day holiday booked for the end of September, meeting mother sister BIL in Italy and then mom is coming here for a few days
Eliza Madrigal: terrifying and admirable consistency
Wol Euler: plus christmas is coming up

Wol Euler: I bought myself a bass guitar for my birthday, loving to play that
    Eliza Madrigal: Oh, that's wonderful!
Wol Euler: it hurts my fingers but I don't think it's actually making htem worse. I'll take a few lessons to make sure I start off without bad habits
Eliza Madrigal: this is a new skill?
    Wol Euler: mmhmm
Wol Euler: well a new thing to do, can't claim to be skilled at it yet
    Eliza Madrigal: that's fantastic, honestly
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Wol Euler: just sorta strumming along to stuff at the moment
Wol Euler: I wish I'd done it earlier
    Wol Euler: before arthritis
Eliza Madrigal: seems perfect timing now though... when variation is needed and unwinding advisable
    Wol Euler nods.
Eliza Madrigal: I was given a shot in my shoulder last week... this age stuff is real ;-)
    Wol Euler raises an eyebrow.
    Eliza Madrigal: mm.. bursitis (sp?)
    Wol Euler: ah
Eliza Madrigal: I thought I was injured and asked to see a physical therapist
Eliza Madrigal: but it wasn't that... just age stuff

Eliza Madrigal: What are you playing along with?
Wol Euler: various but mostly midtempo funky stuff
Wol Euler: Cibo Matto, let me link that
    Eliza Madrigal: nice, thanks
    Wol Euler: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9gtG0hsYPw
Wol Euler: otis redding "knock on wood"
Wol Euler: queen "another one bites the dust"
    Wol Euler: various pink floyd
    Eliza Madrigal: fantastic
Wol Euler: some beatles, McCartney was a criminally underrated bassist (by me too)
Wol Euler: this one (flowers) is such a cheerful song, it's a joy to play along to
Eliza Madrigal: sounds like walking along the road on a breezy and sunny morning
Wol Euler: I think you would enjoy the whole album this comes from, though this is the standout track

    --BELL--

Eliza Madrigal: I think I would too, nice pointer
    Wol Euler smiles.
    Wol Euler: enjoy <3

Wol Euler: how's george? you haven't posted many photos lately
Eliza Madrigal: well, there hasn't been much going on really...
Eliza Madrigal: so it isn't so much George but that I tire of photos of the apartment
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Wol Euler: but he's still floofy, I'm sure
Wol Euler: how does he cope with the heat?
Eliza Madrigal: he was just groomed actually, so not too floofy atm
    Wol Euler: awwwwww :)
Eliza Madrigal: but he does get hot and tired quickly
    Eliza Madrigal: little legs ^^
    Wol Euler: mmhmm
Wol Euler: belly so close to the hot pavement, no wonder
Eliza Madrigal: so once around the complex and he's ready to nap on the cold tile
    Wol Euler: sensible.
Eliza Madrigal: he's wonderful though :)
    Wol Euler: <3

Eliza Madrigal: perfect pause song >STOP<
    Wol Euler smiles.
Eliza Madrigal: ...need a new beat...
    Eliza Madrigal giggles

Wol Euler: how are you, dear Eliza?
Eliza Madrigal: weird, but not much new ... everyone graduated, A possibly going to stay with his uncle in CO for a little stretch
Eliza Madrigal: JV moving back with boyfriend...
Eliza Madrigal: think it is time for me to go back to school to do something practical
    Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: that's a good thought
Eliza Madrigal: necessary, need structure also
Wol Euler: do you hvae a subject in mind?
Eliza Madrigal: at first I am pretty sure that getting my paralegal license would be good, or at least a certificate...
Eliza Madrigal: since the govt changes here, I've wanted to be more involved with legal things
    Wol Euler nods.
    Wol Euler: understandable
Eliza Madrigal: and I can't spend a lot of time at least getting feet in water
Wol Euler: I fear there will be a great need of legal services
    Eliza Madrigal: there is
    Eliza Madrigal: already overwhelming need
    Wol Euler nods sadly
Eliza Madrigal: the research work has been amazing, but need to be steady plus some

Eliza Madrigal: are the projects coming along well? along with keepying you busy?
Wol Euler: yes moving along nicely

    [snips away some lines]

Eliza Madrigal: hope you're taking care of yourself with this feast and famine pattern

    --BELL--

    Wol Euler: trying to ...
Eliza Madrigal: don't let me keep you past the time, btw... just happy to check in and hope to again soon :)
Wol Euler: far be it from me to wish insomnia/early rising on anyone, but I'm always glad to see you here <3
    Eliza Madrigal grins
Eliza Madrigal: thankfully it isn't insomnia...
Eliza Madrigal: but change of schedule
    Wol Euler: ah
Eliza Madrigal: the driving burden was a lot this year
Eliza Madrigal: and now I have this gap
    Wol Euler: what happens now??
Wol Euler: with only one ?
Eliza Madrigal: mmm, the school thing, possibly... also taking some indian cooking classes
    Wol Euler: !
Eliza Madrigal: but today will rewatch new twin peaks episode then fall asleep again
    Eliza Madrigal: haha
    Wol Euler: good plan :)
Eliza Madrigal: sounds lazy huh? but things come up and I end up busier than I plan for
Wol Euler: naps feature prominently in my weekend plans
    Wol Euler: yup
Eliza Madrigal: there's a bit of work to do also, and trying to pull together a better website

Wol Euler: it's shocking to sit back and look and realize how much my life has closed down in the last year
    Eliza Madrigal: narrowed?
Wol Euler: like it has leprosy, bits keep falling off
Eliza Madrigal: the discipline must feel good though?
    Wol Euler: like PaB
Wol Euler: doesn't feel like discipline, feels like constraint and compulsion
Eliza Madrigal .... was not sure you'd be here today.... miss you at other sessions
Wol Euler: I miss so many Sundays now because of work
Wol Euler: I work most Sundays
Wol Euler: *we, boss is there too
Eliza Madrigal: maybe let that drop?
    Wol Euler: how?
Wol Euler: we are behind on site. people are waiting for our information
Eliza Madrigal: pab I mean, as much as it is hard to say
    Wol Euler: ah
Wol Euler: well de facto I have :(
Wol Euler: apart from this now
    Eliza Madrigal: ah :(
    Wol Euler: which saddens me

Wol Euler: I never even finished reading TSK
Eliza Madrigal: pab does feel too wol-less
Wol Euler: and hearing that saddens me even more
Eliza Madrigal: but I'm sure Stim would say.. what you've read is what you needed to read
Wol Euler: lots of novels ... :)
    Eliza Madrigal smiles
    Eliza Madrigal: good novels?
Wol Euler: oh let me recommend Neil Gaiman's new "Norse Mythology"
    Wol Euler: yes, uniformly so
Eliza Madrigal: I wondered... he's given a lot of interviews
    Wol Euler: really good
Wol Euler: not a novel, a retelling of tales
Wol Euler: it overlaps extensively and informatively with American Gods
Eliza Madrigal: wonder if the TV show is good
Eliza Madrigal: good reviews about it
    Wol Euler: I wouldn't know :)
Wol Euler: I only watch TV on airplanes :)
    Eliza Madrigal grins

Wol Euler: I don't know how people have time to watch TV!
Eliza Madrigal: when my eyes were having trouble, TV was such a godsend
    Wol Euler raises an eyebrow.
Eliza Madrigal: I like it again.... quality of many things much better than it used to be
Wol Euler: when was taht? I don't remember (which is anohter thing going on)
Eliza Madrigal: :) went through a thing with health...
Eliza Madrigal: was hard to even be in SL an hour for a while
    Wol Euler: huh
Wol Euler: was that when you took the FB break?
Eliza Madrigal: that I try to do anyway
Eliza Madrigal: more for mental health
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Wol Euler: ah
    Wol Euler: understood :)
Eliza Madrigal: but it was pretty scary actually....
    Wol Euler listens.
Eliza Madrigal: even if I had other health issues, I always could retreat to reading/writing...
Eliza Madrigal: which has been everything... work/hobby/sanity
    Wol Euler nods.
Eliza Madrigal: so without that... there was such an intense restlessness
Eliza Madrigal: passive media became more interesting in that light... no need to follow through with anything, or be 'on'
    Wol Euler nods.
Eliza Madrigal: just concentrated on daily stuff... cooking, eating, walking, driving, listening to audios
Wol Euler: sounds very good actually
    Wol Euler: commendable
Eliza Madrigal: was not my choice :)
    Wol Euler: hehehehe
Eliza Madrigal: so I'm happy to be reading and SLing again
    Wol Euler smiles.
Eliza Madrigal: but I'll never be in SL like I used to be

    --BELL--

    Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: this was such a great (in both senses) part of my life, but it feels that it's drifted away
Wol Euler: all I do now here is this session and the Fracture dance/chat party
Wol Euler: which still remains an essential part of my week
Eliza Madrigal: if we weren't doing book sessions so much would it be more restful to just pop in sometimes?
Eliza Madrigal: glad you do Fracture still
Wol Euler: perhaps ... I feel out of place at the book-based stuff because I haven't read it and don't want to blather nonsense or make people repeat old info

Eliza Madrigal: :) It would be great if there were another session during weekdays that would just open...
Wol Euler: I miss the dream sessions
    Eliza Madrigal: Mick does too...
Eliza Madrigal: and the avatar who used to come to jsut that... hm, forgetting his name

[more snipping, lots of snipping ;-)]

    --BELL--

Eliza Madrigal put on tea but was tempted to pour a glass of wine ;-)
    Wol Euler: O.O
    Wol Euler: before dawn?
    Eliza Madrigal: too early? hahaha
Wol Euler: that's the slippery slope
Eliza Madrigal: :) I think that I didn't sleep much, so it still feels like night....
Eliza Madrigal: fell asleep listening to zizek talk about hegel
Eliza Madrigal: so he just went on and on for hours
    Wol Euler: no wonder :D
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Wol Euler: every age has its iconic half-tamed eastern european philosopher, he's ours
Eliza Madrigal: he sure is :)
Eliza Madrigal: I prefer harari but he doesn't have as many talks and youtubes
Wol Euler: though that gesture he has of repeatedly brushing down his face is irritating
Eliza Madrigal: and saying 'and so on'
Eliza Madrigal: and so many other things
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Wol Euler: heheheh
Wol Euler: but still, he gives good value for money :)
Eliza Madrigal: he certainly is engaged with the ideas
    Wol Euler nods.
Eliza Madrigal: so that makes one feel somewhat more alive
Wol Euler: at least he doesn't seem wearied by it all, as the philosophers of the war and thereafter did
    Wol Euler: wartime
    Wol Euler: not "of war"
    Eliza Madrigal nods... understand
Eliza Madrigal: but maybe wearied by being blamed for brexit and trump
    Wol Euler: ha
Eliza Madrigal: because if you express complexity or nuance you feed into not staving off extremes

Wol Euler: don't think that Americans need to look outside the last three decades of American politics to explain Trump
    Wol Euler: they built him
    Eliza Madrigal nods...
Wol Euler: they built his voter base
    Wol Euler: works as designed
Eliza Madrigal: progressives have been quite arrogant as well...
Eliza Madrigal: thinking we could just not bother with those who seemingly didn't want to evolve
    Wol Euler nods.
Eliza Madrigal: just push forward, or seemingly forward... so maybe we need to see all this, but worry that we've undone too much now
    Wol Euler: agreed
Wol Euler: this is exactly how Fascism arrives, looking like a good idea. "make the trains run on time"
    Eliza Madrigal nods
Eliza Madrigal: just... so baffling how short memories really are
Wol Euler: pretending there isn't a price to pay
    Wol Euler: yup
Wol Euler: or how strong self-interest is
Wol Euler: and how weak social bonding
Eliza Madrigal: maybe... but it isn't really self interest
Eliza Madrigal: just feeling of belonging or in club somehow
Eliza Madrigal: well, maybe the fear of refugees is self interest, I take that back
    Wol Euler: zero-sum thinking
Eliza Madrigal nods.... eye for eye

Wol Euler: "giving rights to other people MUST mean taking them away from me"
    Wol Euler: well, no
Wol Euler: you never had the RIGHT to abuse others, you just did so
    Wol Euler: anyway
    Wol Euler: enough of that
Eliza Madrigal: if you believe that's 'how things work'

Eliza Madrigal: :)) Okay.... not the way to start the day
    Wol Euler: heheheh
    Eliza Madrigal laughs
    Wol Euler makes wiping-aside gesture
    Eliza Madrigal: hahah

    [snipping, snipping...]

Eliza Madrigal: hm, good to make time for that. How are summers in Germany?

    --BELL--

    Wol Euler: variable
Eliza Madrigal: maybe outdoor lunch and tea should find place on agenda ... people watching, deep breaths
Wol Euler: can be 35°C and awfully humid, never cooling off. the cities are so dense that the solar heat stored in building facades just radiates back into the streets at night
Wol Euler: or can be 20°C and chilly, as the last few days
    Eliza Madrigal: goodness!
Wol Euler: I do some of that, yes, the terrace in front of the Kunstmuseum downtown is a favourite spot
    Eliza Madrigal: rituals

Eliza Madrigal: water for tea has finished... am going to let you start the day, and hope that bad sleeping lines up with saturday mornings from now on
    Wol Euler smiles.
Wol Euler: as I said I will not wish you that, but if it ever does it's lovely to see you <3
Eliza Madrigal: :) am going to take you off sunday schedule too.... pab should be a rest and joy
    Eliza Madrigal: <3 miss you
    Wol Euler sighs
    Wol Euler: it's time
    Wol Euler: yes
    Wol Euler: (to lose sunday)
Wol Euler: I miss so many of those

Eliza Madrigal nods... I think we have to accept changes
Wol Euler: it was part of my identity for so long :(
    Wol Euler: yes
Eliza Madrigal: hold things in a new way
Eliza Madrigal: I found adams questions for interviews quite healing to write
    Eliza Madrigal: answers to
Eliza Madrigal: put the time here into perspective
Eliza Madrigal: let go a bit more
    Wol Euler nods.
Eliza Madrigal: perhaps something to consider doing....

Eliza Madrigal: no feelings of 'should be'... just seeing what is
    Eliza Madrigal: appreciating the time
    Eliza Madrigal: <3
    Wol Euler: <3
Wol Euler: take care, dear Eliza
Eliza Madrigal: take good care Wol (((( )))))
Eliza Madrigal: will edit this log mightily, hah
    Wol Euler: lovely dress btw
    Eliza Madrigal: thank you ^.^
    Eliza Madrigal: bfn
