Adams Rubble sits down in dignified manner
Riddle Sideways: such a fun way to bunny hop in
Adams Rubble: Good morning Riddle :)
Adams Rubble: I am late because was tending to RL corrispondance
Riddle Sideways: ah
Adams Rubble: Didn;t have time to change

Riddle Sideways: there was a 1300 meetup here
Adams Rubble: ohh, readling logs
Riddle Sideways: RL correspondence... like snail mail?
Adams Rubble: no email
Riddle Sideways: ok
Adams Rubble: mailed a snail mail letter this morning on way to glass store
Adams Rubble: :)
Adams Rubble: that was much earlier
Riddle Sideways: have 3 envelopes with these stamp things on them to take to small box at end of driveway
Riddle Sideways: a cute antiquated procedure
Adams Rubble: many people are dependent on it
Riddle Sideways: the daily exercise going down and back up the drive
Riddle Sideways: getting the paper, a magizine, an advert and maybe a postcard
Riddle Sideways: oh and some bills
Adams Rubble: D-liver D-letter D-sooner D-better
Riddle Sideways: hums along
Adams Rubble: except the bills
Adams Rubble: most of my bills come email
Riddle Sideways: Mr. Postman ... Look and see
Adams Rubble: :)
--BELL--
Riddle Sideways: the bill payer in this house really likes paper copies
Riddle Sideways: was on phone 3 times with a cell phone company (name withheld) to get bill on paper
Riddle Sideways: Then there are the Amish Tech heros
Riddle Sideways: well, anti-tech heros
Riddle Sideways: in upstate NY we went to a benefit auction
Riddle Sideways: for the Amish Relief Fund
Adams Rubble listens
Riddle Sideways: they don't have heath insureance
Adams Rubble: yes
Riddle Sideways: so they raise moneys themselves
Riddle Sideways: sort of like their own insurance company
Riddle Sideways: big 2 ring circus of an auction
Riddle Sideways: outside there was large machinery and hardware auction going on
Riddle Sideways: under a huge tent the household goods, quilts, rocking chairs, etc was going on
Riddle Sideways: teams of auctioneers were selling stuff
Riddle Sideways: the parking lot was amazing too
Riddle Sideways: the autos had to park in a different field
Riddle Sideways: there were probably 150-200 buggies parked together in a field
Riddle Sideways: and all the little kids in their best uniform cloths
Riddle Sideways: slight differences in the clothing between sects, areas, something
Riddle Sideways: some in deep purples, blacks, greys
Riddle Sideways: a huge community event
Adams Rubble: very intyeresting
Riddle Sideways: getting together, chatting, laughing
Riddle Sideways: maybe selling a quilt
Adams Rubble: were the items in the one tent mostly made by them?
Riddle Sideways: yes. think everything was hand made
Riddle Sideways: and donated
Adams Rubble is surprised about the machinery
Riddle Sideways: things outside in the field were not handmade
Adams Rubble: of course but surprised they were selling it
Riddle Sideways: benefit auction
--BELL--
Riddle Sideways: must have been 50+ metal dust pans sold at around $40-$80
Adams Rubble: !!!!
Riddle Sideways: and lots of food tents
Riddle Sideways: over to the side was a gasoline engine pullied up to a hand crank ice cream maker
Adams Rubble: :)
Riddle Sideways: making some of the BEST ice cream ever
Adams Rubble: :)
Adams Rubble: real cream
Riddle Sideways: yes
Riddle Sideways: being separated right there
Adams Rubble: this is touching on lots of memories
Riddle Sideways: yes! it did
Riddle Sideways: partner had never witnessed this type of thing before
Riddle Sideways: each year we go back and go to 3-5 farm stores
Riddle Sideways: look at quilts, furniture, eggs
Riddle Sideways: however, not allowed to take photos of Amish
Riddle Sideways: so no pics of people
Riddle Sideways: the idea of living in a huge community that has no need of a smartphone
Adams Rubble: I never went to anything like that
Riddle Sideways: grew up going to them
Adams Rubble: but was familiar with a simpler life growing up with grandparent's farm
Riddle Sideways: then during that hippie homestead period got to know many farmers and families
Adams Rubble: remembers them making fresh ice cream
Riddle Sideways: ah!
Adams Rubble: we all have choices in life :)
Riddle Sideways: yes
Adams Rubble: I do not own a smartphone
Riddle Sideways: and what one does with them
Adams Rubble: yes
Riddle Sideways: oh, good
Adams Rubble: It is hard on some of the young people
Riddle Sideways: daughter, just got one finally. from the flip phone texting keyboard kind
Riddle Sideways: the shame of being in the sixth grade and the only one without the latest smartphone
Adams Rubble: I remember the sheds for horses and carriages left over from past days at the church where my grandparents went
Adams Rubble: oh the shame of it
Riddle Sideways: remembering driving through area and the kids picking out which houses had no electric wires to the house
Adams Rubble: oh the shame of typing during the 90 second meditation
Adams Rubble: yes and getting stuck behind the horse and buggy on Sunday mornings
--BELL--

Adams Rubble giggles
Riddle Sideways: giggles at lag in sentence order
Riddle Sideways: rule 5: do not drive Friday afternoon around NYC
Adams Rubble loved the Chrysler Corporation designs in the late 1950s
Riddle Sideways: rule 6: do not drive Sunday morning in Amish church going time
Adams Rubble: ah yes, stay away from any road pointing to the shore
Adams Rubble: ok to go in other direction
Adams Rubble: tricky part, on some roads, both directions are routes to the shore
Riddle Sideways: went north to TappenZee bridge instead of GW
Adams Rubble: ohhhh
Adams Rubble: both bad
Riddle Sideways: and sat in parked traffic of old bridge
Adams Rubble: yes
Riddle Sideways: looking over at the new bridge parts
Adams Rubble: :)
Adams Rubble: Poughkeepsie here i come
Riddle Sideways: yep
Adams Rubble: the roads from Boston to Washington are killers
Riddle Sideways: remembering a documentary on the NYC bridges
Riddle Sideways: and road system building
Riddle Sideways: the calculating that this new road and bridge would solve All traffic issues
Adams Rubble has a book
Riddle Sideways: by the opening it was not enough
Adams Rubble: the smarter engineers knew more was needed
Adams Rubble: but no one listened to them
Riddle Sideways: so people moved out to Long Island
Adams Rubble: then World Wars intervened for some projects
Riddle Sideways: and increased traffic to the city
Riddle Sideways: ah, yes
Riddle Sideways: steel not available
Adams Rubble: Long Island was swept over during the 1939 hurricane. Houses washed into Connecticut. long island scares me
Adams Rubble: only one was off--through NYC
Adams Rubble: one way off

Adams Rubble: I've never seen it so it is OK
Riddle Sideways: that is one view
Adams Rubble: It snowed last winter so global warming does not exist
Adams Rubble: I was cold
Riddle Sideways: putting ones head in the sand is good for mental health
Adams Rubble getting crotchety
Adams Rubble remembers that today is a gift and remembers to be grateful
Adams Rubble: grateful to share this hour with Riddle
Riddle Sideways: had a long disscussion about grateful being alive a week ago
Adams Rubble remebers APAPB
Riddle Sideways: will save it for another day
