2018.09.20 07:00 - Give Me That Olde Tyme Compassion

The Guardian for this meeting was Adams Rubble. The comments are by Adams Rubble.

We both arrived early and began where we left off on Tuesday discussing the Kol Nidre which is sung at the beginning of Yom Kippur services. In the last part I will talk about my experience last night and this morning.

Adams Rubble: Good morning Riddle :)
    Riddle Sideways: Morning, got here
    Adams Rubble: yes and early
Riddle Sideways: am not very good at leaping
    Riddle Sideways: nor sitting
    Riddle Sideways: ok, set
Adams Rubble: you are doing fine :)
    --BELL--
Riddle Sideways: thanks for vote on confidence
Adams Rubble: do you have anything you like to talk about this morning? I was thinking about you yesterday
    Riddle Sideways: yes, but listens
    Adams Rubble listens first
    Adams Rubble: :)
Riddle Sideways: most was about how Kol Nidrai was mis-represented
Riddle Sideways: wrote some of it in the log that did not get finished and published yet :(
    Adams Rubble: ohhh
Adams Rubble: do you mean the oaths?
Riddle Sideways: One of those things that the simple minded does. Latch on to the first meaning and does not go further
Riddle Sideways: yes, the forgiveness of future oaths, was missing
Adams Rubble: all religions and their adherants have those moments :)
Adams Rubble: can always go deeper
Adams Rubble: I read about that after we talked
    Adams Rubble: about the oaths
Riddle Sideways: the wording is really about absolving sins in the next year
Riddle Sideways: to start this year with clear slate
    Adams Rubble nods
    Riddle Sideways: also read after
Adams Rubble: like the Buddhist dictim to just stop doing those things :)
Riddle Sideways: and read the prayer and further reading sections
    Riddle Sideways: mmm, not quite
Riddle Sideways: is a funny complicated thing
Riddle Sideways: a blank check to absolve a possible future doing of a thing
    Adams Rubble: ohhh
Riddle Sideways: just between G-d and current person
Riddle Sideways: not between person and any other
Riddle Sideways: the Wikipedias, jewish sites, etc. do much better explanation
Adams Rubble: ohh, and that was the part that was misunderstood by outsiders
    Riddle Sideways: perhaps
Adams Rubble: are you familiar with Angela Buchdahl
Riddle Sideways: Kol Nidrai did not get in the service until many had been persecuted
Riddle Sideways: then lotss debate over taking it out or amending or adding
Riddle Sideways: so, anyway. Tuesday the siimple reason for it was given
    Adams Rubble: :)
Riddle Sideways: not the wording, not start of the meaning
    Riddle Sideways: *nor
Riddle Sideways: (keyboard acting up again)
    Adams Rubble: (behave yourself keyboard)
Riddle Sideways: (already shook finger at it)
    Adams Rubble: ( :) )
    --BELL--
Adams Rubble: are you familiar with Angela Buchdahl?
Riddle Sideways: There was a (long) section yesterday about being and not being a good person-Jew
    Adams Rubble listens
Riddle Sideways: come back to, what is Angele Buchdddahl?
Adams Rubble: she is a female cantor (now a rabbi) who sings a beautiful Nol Kidre
    Adams Rubble: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8lUE6y9euY
Adams Rubble: I did not know there were female cantors
Riddle Sideways: yes, many more females became cantors before as many rabbis
Riddle Sideways: that is a long 2 roads-paths to trod. Two doctorate degrees.
Riddle Sideways: oh!! Senior rabbi at Central Synagogue
Adams Rubble: She is at Central Synagogue in Manhattan, the longest continuous synagogue in the city
Riddle Sideways: that is a very big place
Riddle Sideways: like an entire city block
    Riddle Sideways: huge membership
Riddle Sideways: brother-in-law went there. met wiife there
    Adams Rubble: :)
Riddle Sideways: have heard that at high holy days there borrow nearby churchs to have enough room for everybody
Adams Rubble: nice that religions work together more often now
    Riddle Sideways: Yes!
Riddle Sideways: and Mr. T has fostered that a bit
Adams Rubble: yes he has played his part
Riddle Sideways: which circles back to what one 'should' not do and 'should' do
    Adams Rubble: OK

Litany of Things Best Not Done

Riddle Sideways: there was a long section of lists. Litanies of
    Adams Rubble likes litanies
Riddle Sideways: Other than the 613 or the 13
    Riddle Sideways: ㋡
    --BELL--
Riddle Sideways: not harming the envirnment, wildlife, nature, climate
Riddle Sideways: not profitting from the harming
Adams Rubble thinks T is not going to do well in this list
    Riddle Sideways: no
Riddle Sideways: well, there were some about listening to others
    Riddle Sideways: Hearing their points
Riddle Sideways: (then slapping sense into them, hahahahaha)
    Adams Rubble raises an eyebrow
    Riddle Sideways: whoops, humour again
    Adams Rubble: :)
Riddle Sideways: well, that compassion thang
Riddle Sideways: and that Peace thang
Riddle Sideways: were both Big parts
Adams Rubble: yes, give me that old time compassion, that old time compassion. Gove me that old time compassion it is good enought for me
Riddle Sideways: yes, sings that good ol song

    Nine Minutes

Riddle Sideways: it was a Long section, made one think, must have lasted 9 minutes
Riddle Sideways: hmmm, out of 24hours
Riddle Sideways: not a good way to look at it
Riddle Sideways: stop and look around at what one is doing
    Riddle Sideways: for 9-sec
    Riddle Sideways: 90 seconds
Riddle Sideways: oh dear, 9 minutes
Riddle Sideways: not use to that
Adams Rubble: Marx Brothers: you pay a little money, you get a little litany. You pay a lot of money you get a lot of litany. you pay too much money, you get too much litany
    Riddle Sideways: oooooo likey that
Riddle Sideways: Did the grouch say that?
    Adams Rubble: no, Chico
Adams Rubble: not quite that :))))
Riddle Sideways: hmmm, never knew Gummo
    Adams Rubble: no
Adams Rubble: we are just too young Riddle
Riddle Sideways: yes, before Our time
    Riddle Sideways: just
    Adams Rubble: babes in arms
Riddle Sideways: before the first War to end all wars
Riddle Sideways: funny how the history books are chaptered by War dates

The Three Quarter Hour Bell and I Spill the Beans

Riddle Sideways: ooooh, thanks beel, to remind one to continue being mindful
Adams Rubble: I had what I thought at the time was a very important dream last night but then it may have been that I just needed to get it out of my system
    --BELL--

Riddle Sideways: and then think a wwhile
Riddle Sideways: why is it we do that
Adams Rubble: we want to be heard I think

Adams Rubble: life is like a beanstalk

    Riddle Sideways: giggles
