    Qt Core: Hi Eliza
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Qt :))
    Eliza Madrigal: How is everything?
Eliza Madrigal: (I know, big question, but what comes to mind)
    Qt Core: hot, abruptly hot
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Bleu :)
    Qt Core: hi Bleu
Bleu Oleander: hi Eliza, Qt :)
Eliza Madrigal: Big change of weather? Here it is hot too, but expected
Qt Core: expected by season, but 10 degree in a week
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Wol :)
Wol Euler: evening all, sorry I'm loate
    Wol Euler: *late
Qt Core: and m,asks under hot weather are lovely ;-)
    Eliza Madrigal: haha, yes...not
    Bleu Oleander: hi Wol :)
    Wol Euler waves.
Eliza Madrigal: I did get to listen to an interview with the history of heaven and hell guy, enjoyed it a lot Bleu, thanks for that
Qt Core: it seems we may get rid of them, at least outside in a couple weeks (maybe)
    Bleu Oleander: oh you're welcome
    Eliza Madrigal: Really? wow
Bleu Oleander: was a great salon!
Eliza Madrigal: I thought his/the take on Revelation as being about the Roman Empire was fascinating
Bleu Oleander: yes, I think his next book is on Revelation
Eliza Madrigal: great idea, especially now :)
    Bleu Oleander: yes :)

Eliza Madrigal: How are you doing, Wol?
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi San
    Wol Euler: hello san
    Santoshima Resident: hello :)
Wol Euler: I'm stressed and distressed and generally pretty grim right now
    Eliza Madrigal: :(
    Bleu Oleander: hi San :)
Wol Euler: really fed up with just about everything and everyone
Wol Euler: idiots walking around breathing on each other as though everything was fine
Bleu Oleander: I'll drink to that!
    Santoshima Resident: yes
Bleu Oleander: almost 5K more cases in AZ alone today!
    Eliza Madrigal: Ouch
    Wol Euler: exactly
Qt Core: i think around here it is 50% wearing masks and again 50% of them wearing them right... most without with them badly worn male over 60
Wol Euler: "dying for a coke"
Eliza Madrigal: I saw people taking it more seriously this week, but that's a small sampling really
Eliza Madrigal: the spike in numbers got through to at least some people
    Bleu Oleander: not here
Bleu Oleander: maybe its the sun
Eliza Madrigal: but our government... ugh
    Eliza Madrigal: people feel immortal
    Wol Euler nods.
Bleu Oleander: Pence is here visiting with Ducey ... can't imagine that conversation!
    Eliza Madrigal curls nose

    --BELL--

    Bleu Oleander: hi Mick :)
Eliza Madrigal: Hard to understand the logic of some of the airlines, filling planes to capacity
    Wol Euler: hello mick
    Qt Core: Hi Mick
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Mick
Bleu Oleander: yes just Delta and SW keeping middle seats open
    Mickorod Renard: Hi Folks
    Santoshima Resident: hello Mick
Wol Euler: QANTAS said that tehy won't be flying international until juily 2021
    Mickorod Renard: wow
    Bleu Oleander: wow
Eliza Madrigal: that's a long projection
Wol Euler: seems very realistic to me, I have to say
    Bleu Oleander: yes

Wol Euler: someone suggested to the PM of New Zealand that she should open the country for tourism, she basically replied "no, don't be an idiot"
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Santoshima Resident: :)
Mickorod Renard: appols for being late

Qt Core: beside "simple" working from home how many business travel are becoming obsolete after learning by example about online meeting ?
    Wol Euler: indeed :)
Wol Euler: we could have been doing this ages ago, we just didn't want to
Eliza Madrigal: FL governor cut funding for online learning yesterday....
    Bleu Oleander: exactly
Wol Euler: we were invested in business travel as an exciting high-status thing
Wol Euler: when it was actually just a PITA
    Mickorod Renard: ouch Eliza
Qt Core: that depend even on how much your economy is based on tourism, it seems that italy need it badly
    Wol Euler nods to Eliza
    Eliza Madrigal: such denial
    Wol Euler: yup
    Bleu Oleander: pretty sad
    Santoshima Resident: political, and idiotic
Qt Core: many ad campaign inviting italians on do local tourism
Eliza Madrigal: there was a governor or mayor who put forth the idea of a tourism stimulus, think that seems smart
Mickorod Renard: yeh, its gone bananas in the uk, beaches full up
Qt Core: not only not going abroad for the one used to but also go on vacation to the one not used/unabled to
Eliza Madrigal: when things are actually slowing
Eliza Madrigal: at least beaches are closed for 4th of July here, but what closed means in FL I have no idea
Qt Core: here we have one, 500euros for family with a calculated income of under 40.000
    Wol Euler: is it enforceable?
Santoshima Resident: maybe .. no lifeguard?
    Eliza Madrigal: that's about ti!
    Eliza Madrigal: it*
Wol Euler: so people would risk their lives to a virus but not to the water ... maybe? :)
Bleu Oleander: health clubs here are refusing to close, challenging the gov.
    Eliza Madrigal: wow

Eliza Madrigal: Does anyone feel like they've at least learned something about themselves in all this?
Wol Euler: I really suck at time management and self-discipline :)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Bleu Oleander: yes much actually
    Eliza Madrigal listens
    Wol Euler listens.
    Qt Core: i'm really asocial
Mickorod Renard: I am trying to unlearn myself
Bleu Oleander: reinventing our business, reading challenging books about racism, cooking :)
Qt Core: lockdown is almost as i wish to spend my free time (give me just more choice in shopping mall and a couple walk a week)
Bleu Oleander: living without some things
Eliza Madrigal: so, adaptable Bleu :)
Bleu Oleander: cutting our own hair
Bleu Oleander: being with our dog :)
    Eliza Madrigal smiles at Qt
    Bleu Oleander: long list
Mickorod Renard: I realize I need to hug someone
    Eliza Madrigal: YES
Wol Euler: oh I miss hugging so much
    Bleu Oleander: that too!
Eliza Madrigal: I'm really feely... didn't realize how much
    Wol Euler nods.

Qt Core: i summed it up saying that i now have more social app on my pjhone than people i would like to be social with ;-)
    Wol Euler: hehehehe
    Eliza Madrigal grins
    Bleu Oleander: :)
    Mickorod Renard: he he

Eliza Madrigal: I went into therapy just before this all started, and one thing I do notice is that my tendency is the same as my country.... restless, wanting to be going fast....
Eliza Madrigal: but drawing on tools to slow down, and appreciating that gentleness more and more
Mickorod Renard: yeh, relate to that Eliza
    Wol Euler nods.
Qt Core: speaking about app it seems that too few italians are installing the contact tracing one (i did)
Mickorod Renard: not slowed down yet
Eliza Madrigal: What does unlearning yourself entail Mick?
Mickorod Renard: if u have the app u might find out u have to isolate
    Eliza Madrigal nods

    --BELL--

Qt Core: yesm, waiting for testing
Eliza Madrigal: "and she told two friends..and so on...and so on..." (remember that commercial?) :)

Mickorod Renard: unlearning ,like getting rid of my awareness of being a twit
    Eliza Madrigal: Oh no
Mickorod Renard: its never too late to be normal
Bleu Oleander: what is normal and are we the best judges of that?
    Qt Core: booring, Mick ;-)
    Mickorod Renard: :)
Eliza Madrigal: not even in retrospect maybe
Qt Core: just in spite of all this anti-mask mania i plan to (almost randomly) wear it after the obligation ends ;-)
Mickorod Renard: well, I guess we all think we could have done diferent
    Mickorod Renard: thats cool QT
Wol Euler: I'm going to be home-officing and avoiding public places and wearing a mask all the damned time until christmas. I have decided that and now I don't have to think about it again.
    Bleu Oleander: :)

Mickorod Renard: I am suprised that there isnt a fashion built around masks
Eliza Madrigal: There seems to be
    Bleu Oleander: there is Mick
    Mickorod Renard: oh
Qt Core: well... about that... little fashion firm are selling fashinable masks for 20 euros a piece
Mickorod Renard: not arrived here yet
Eliza Madrigal: pop up mask shops
    Mickorod Renard: yikes
    Wol Euler: yes, here too
Bleu Oleander: just google face masks ....
Qt Core: i'm waiting for a mask with integrated bluetooth headset and mickorod
    Mickorod Renard: ok
    Bleu Oleander: yes Qt!
    Qt Core: ands mic
    Mickorod Renard: he he
    Eliza Madrigal: google masks
    Wol Euler: hehehehe
Mickorod Renard: will do in a bit
Bleu Oleander: I'm sure they're coming
    Mickorod Renard: steam punk masks
Qt Core: i've seen online ,mask with wireless temperature sensors
    Mickorod Renard: gothic
    Eliza Madrigal: huh
    Santoshima Resident: good gawd
Santoshima Resident: excessive to the bitter end
    Mickorod Renard: lone ranger

Eliza Madrigal: I like the ones my kiddo made, but the store wants us to wear black ones they provide... so, as long as I'm doing that, I'm making compromises I normally wouldn't
    Bleu Oleander: branding sets in
    Eliza Madrigal: yes
Eliza Madrigal: making the choice to keep working at the store is making a dozen other choices at once... I keep questioning it, but am doing the best I can within constraints of the choice
    Wol Euler nods.
    Bleu Oleander: yes

Eliza Madrigal: Does anyone listen to Ologies? They had a fun moss episode this week
Wol Euler: don't know that (yet)
    Santoshima Resident: don't know it
    Bleu Oleander: podcast?
    Santoshima Resident: moss! excellent
    Mickorod Renard: no?
Eliza Madrigal: yes, Aly Ward interviews various ologists...can be corny but clever too
    Wol Euler: ahhhhhh
    Wol Euler: cute
Wol Euler: sounds like something I'd like
Eliza Madrigal: But ... something so calming about just thinking about moss
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: especially if one is learning not to hurry

    Qt Core: already here... https://nypost.com/2020/06/26/japane...us-new-normal/
Mickorod Renard: a rolling stone gathers no moss
    Eliza Madrigal smiles
Wol Euler: Ono raised 28 million yen ($260,000) for development by selling Donut Robotics shares through Japanese crowdfunding site Fundinno. “We raised our initial target of 7 million yen within three minutes and stopped after 37 minutes when we had reached 28 million yen,” he said.
    Wol Euler: heheheh
    Eliza Madrigal: @@
    Mickorod Renard: phew

    --BELL--

Mickorod Renard: btw, how is dreams doing?
Eliza Madrigal: I've been reading the sessions when Riddle posts, but unable to attend :(
    Eliza Madrigal: They're interesting
Mickorod Renard: I almost made one
Eliza Madrigal: maybe good to set an alarm
Wol Euler: oh, that was yesterday. *shakes head* what was I saying about time management?
Mickorod Renard: I have a friend who has severe sleep apnea and who does not dream, now they have a kit to sleep with but they still do not dream
Wol Euler: how long have they had the kit`
    Wol Euler: `
    Wol Euler: ?
Eliza Madrigal: Are they taking medications?
    Mickorod Renard: about two weeks
Mickorod Renard: lots of meds but not for sleep apnea
Mickorod Renard: it was just I thought once they had rem sleep they would dream
Eliza Madrigal: supposedly everyone dreams, but the transitions to waking, and remembering the dreams, is another matter
    Mickorod Renard: yes, true
Bleu Oleander: yes, my understanding too
    Wol Euler nods.
Mickorod Renard: it was an interesting observation though
    Eliza Madrigal nods
Eliza Madrigal: maybe over time they'll see changes if they are looking
Mickorod Renard: I will keep observing
Wol Euler: two weeks is not very long for changing the habits and systems of a lifetime
Mickorod Renard: yes Wol, brob right there

Santoshima Resident: please excuse me, needing to go. / re: MOSS > read Robin Wall Kimmerer's Braiding Sweetgrass / good week to everyone, bye
Wol Euler: bye san, take care
Eliza Madrigal: yes! that's who she interviewed!
    Mickorod Renard: bye San
Bleu Oleander: bye San take care
    Eliza Madrigal: Marvelous
    Wol Euler: aha :D
    Eliza Madrigal: Bye San
Bleu Oleander: llistening now ... love moss!
    Qt Core: bye Santoshima

Eliza Madrigal: it feels like a matter of learning to hold a sort of subtle state
    Eliza Madrigal: (remembering dreams)
    Bleu Oleander: brb
    Wol Euler nods.
Eliza Madrigal: holding the pan for sifting
Wol Euler: there have been times when I woke up knowing that I had been dreaming, but unable to hold anything of the dream
Wol Euler: except once for an image of Wil Wheaton walking his dog Seamus down the stairs past my front door
    Eliza Madrigal: :))
Eliza Madrigal: a lot of times I just have the feeling...
Qt Core: without Wheaton that happens to me too
Qt Core: sometimes i remember the main emotion of the dream
    Eliza Madrigal nods
Mickorod Renard: oh yeh, I sometimes get, in the middle of the day, a tiny sniff of a dream from night before, and I have to focus real hard until it reveals
Eliza Madrigal: that takes a long time of, even if uneven, attention I think
Eliza Madrigal: to be able to gather it back
    Wol Euler nods.
Eliza Madrigal: this morning I woke with a song, but I don't think that came out of a dream exactly... greeted me as I woke into it. Not sure what one calls that
Wol Euler: the inner soundtrack :)
    Eliza Madrigal smiles
    Eliza Madrigal adopts that title
Eliza Madrigal: but it took a little 'letting it run'
Mickorod Renard: love dreams with a song or tune

Bleu Oleander: I think I already mentioned, but great book "The Voices Within"
Eliza Madrigal: I have a page opened with that since last week!
    Bleu Oleander: haha
Eliza Madrigal: I keep going to it then something comes up.... but I'm on my way
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Wol Euler: heheh
Eliza Madrigal: managing tabs of time
    Bleu Oleander: :)
Wol Euler: The Tabs of Time
    Eliza Madrigal giggles
Eliza Madrigal: I'll consider it homework for this week
    Eliza Madrigal: :)

    --BELL--

    Bleu Oleander: :)

Mickorod Renard: I recently got a link from a mutual friend on fb, a link to joscha bach
Bleu Oleander: one of my favs :)
Bleu Oleander: just had a salon with him
    Eliza Madrigal: Ah, yes
    Wol Euler: who is that?
Bleu Oleander: a very very smart person!
Mickorod Renard: re we exist inside the story that the brain tells itself
Mickorod Renard: yeh, i cant get over how articulate he is
Bleu Oleander: he studies AI for what it can tell us about the brain
Eliza Madrigal: Loved the way he talked about dualism in that link
    Mickorod Renard: yes
Mickorod Renard: I would love to go over that again sometime
Bleu Oleander: we met him in Boston a few years ago ... a real mental workout!
Mickorod Renard: until I understand it
    Eliza Madrigal: I'll bet!
    Mickorod Renard: cool
Bleu Oleander: as nice as he is smart
Eliza Madrigal: I'd be up to that, except that as Bleu says, hard to frame the matter as clearly

Eliza Madrigal: How might we do it?
Qt Core: i need to go, early start tomorrow, bye all
Eliza Madrigal: Bye Qt, stay safe
Bleu Oleander: bye Qt see you soon
Mickorod Renard: I dunno, I doubt I can grasp it sufficiently to give direction
    Mickorod Renard: bye qt
Wol Euler: bye qt. take care
Eliza Madrigal: We would need to find bite sized pieces
Eliza Madrigal: How did you work the salon, Bleu?
Bleu Oleander: well, we let him just talk and then we tried to frame intelligent questions :)
    Eliza Madrigal: :))
    Wol Euler: heheheh
    Eliza Madrigal: hm
    Mickorod Renard: thats an option
Bleu Oleander: several hours later ... we were basket cases
    Eliza Madrigal laughs
    Bleu Oleander: LOL
    Mickorod Renard: ha ha
Eliza Madrigal: sounds like so much fun, love it
    Bleu Oleander: it was
    Eliza Madrigal: intellectual fair ride
Bleu Oleander: he met us online a couple of weeks ago and still amazed us
    Mickorod Renard: wow
Bleu Oleander: online salons are the silver lining during covid for us ... many possibilities
    Eliza Madrigal: sounds that way
Mickorod Renard: maybe we just need to read or watch his stuff
Eliza Madrigal: I'm going to follow up with more of him. Maybe if we all do that we can find an opening to begin with?
    Bleu Oleander: yes
    Wol Euler nods.
Mickorod Renard: that sound a plan
    Eliza Madrigal: watdya know
Bleu Oleander: he has a few videos if you google him
Mickorod Renard: I am gonna google him lots, until the van takes me away
Eliza Madrigal: Okay, good idea Mick
Eliza Madrigal: not the van, lol
    Mickorod Renard: :)
    Bleu Oleander: hahaha
    Wol Euler: heheh
Wol Euler: ice cream van, maybe?
    Mickorod Renard: he he
    Eliza Madrigal: mmm
Bleu Oleander: fun to see you all ... gotta get back to work
Mickorod Renard: now you have tempted me Wol
Eliza Madrigal: appreciate you all, bye for now
Wol Euler: enjoy, and stay healthy
Bleu Oleander: take care til next week
    Mickorod Renard: bye Bleu
    Bleu Oleander: you too!
Mickorod Renard: I had better get moving
    Wol Euler: goodnight all
    Wol Euler: <3
Eliza Madrigal: be gentle with yourselves and safe
    Bleu Oleander: bye all
    Eliza Madrigal: <3
