Yakuzza Lethecus: no na´vi today :)
Eden: (Once everybody has sound settings done, I read in voice a very short SL poem. I post it here to give an idea. Just imagine the French accent (lots of trouble with the "h", I wonder why I still bother using words with an h…) And the '"h" too...
Eden Haiku: But let us go back to discussing this project of yours Bleu, about creating a work of art as a group.
Bleu suggests a great name for the project and we plan to bring the subject up at the next guardians meeting
Eden Haiku: Did you like the tentative title I suggested for the project: the Eagle project?
Bleu Oleander: interesting
Bleu Oleander: from the eagle spotting discussion?
Eden Haiku: yes
Zen Arado: it all led somewhere Bleu :)
Bleu Oleander: would like a tie-in to PaB
Bleu Oleander: so good
Eden Haiku: Or maybe a simple title, more descriptive?
Eden Haiku: a tie-in?
Bleu Oleander: using PaB themes
Eden Haiku: Yes, I like that.
Bleu Oleander: "art of being"
Eden Haiku: Any suggestion Bleu?
Eden Haiku: Art of being!!!
Eden Haiku: Eywa must be Being in Na'vi.
Bleu Oleander: so let's propose AoB at the next guardian mtg

Mickorod Renard: I notice the way I slip from practice of what we learn here, either for one reason or another,,and it makes a diference
Eliza Madrigal: Do you notice Mick?
Mickorod Renard: very much
Eliza Madrigal: I asked that way because noticing itself, seems like mindfulness...
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: It isn't really a formed thought, but I'm thinking that when our hearts aren't connected to our work, it can be more draining....
Eliza Madrigal: so being creative beings....
Eliza Madrigal: gives us energy

Eden shares her approach to travel, and illustrates with a meeting with time.
Eden Haiku: Years ago, I decided to choose one piece of art and only one, when visiting a museum and really look at it so I would not be overloaded.
Eden Haiku: I was trying to select one impression or memory from my last trip in India as I was thinking about your question.
Eden Haiku: Let me share one.
Eden Haiku: In the area of Pondicherry, the Navagraha temple.
Eden Haiku: An Hindu Indian friend of mine took me there.
Eden Haiku: It was at dusk, the fifth temple we were visiting that day,
Eden Haiku: The Navagraha are waht they call 'the nine planets'. Never heard of them before.
Eden Haiku: Suddenly, in this little village, at dusk, I find myself in front of this huge statue of Shani.
Eden Haiku: Black stone, dressed in a black sari with a black raven.
Eden Haiku: My friend explained he was Saturn.
Eden Haiku: Time.
Eden Haiku: It was a very powerful moment, being in front of 'time' in this form.
Eden Haiku: Shani (Saturn) dressed in black evokes Time as the Void or the Mother.

Riddle Sideways: this morning I was having the greatest dream...
Riddle Sideways: but it had come to an end
Riddle Sideways: so the character in it said...
Riddle Sideways: now it is time to wake up
Riddle Sideways: the last few days have been an slightly different altered state for me
Riddle Sideways: sleep deprevation
Riddle Sideways: and over concentration
Riddle Sideways: have put me into a place I've not been for a long time
Pema Pera: does that make it more difficult or easier to do the nine seconds, RIddle?
Riddle Sideways: I have found it easier, Pema to drop into short one breath visits to other
Pema Pera: I find it can go both ways: sometimes being tired makes me forget to be more mindful, but there are also times where tiredness can show how unimportant my daily business is, inviting me to look beyond the details of daily life
Riddle Sideways: when you can look at an object, situation, position, person, relation
Riddle Sideways: and see a mini-play, short story, movie
Riddle Sideways: then "blink"
Riddle Sideways: new show begins
Riddle Sideways: given voice here, I sound like a flitting butterfly of no train of conscieness
Riddle Sideways: yet there is a thread
http://playasbeing.wik.is/Chat_Logs/2010/03/2010.03.23_13%3a00_-_Time_travel%2c_beliefs_and_memories
Calvino Rabeni: It is ironic, perhaps, but an intellectually honest philosophy seems to be to reject belief but accept faith
Storm Nordwind: Would you like to elaborate on the differences Cal?
Calvino Rabeni: Not sure I can, but .. faith seems unavoidable while belief seems optional
Calvino Rabeni: so a minimalist approach to ontology would be t drop the belief
Calvino Rabeni: and be unable to drop the faith
Calvino Rabeni: For a mystic, to prove might be to experience
arabella Ella: faith could also be belief in a religion or trust in other people
Calvino Rabeni: not for the logician
Calvino Rabeni: In other words, whatever is, to a specific person, a way to incontrovertibly support a specific idea, would be "prove"
Calvino Rabeni: And that implies - and idea that open to question - open to doubt
Calvino Rabeni: So prove deals with a smaller domain of questions than faith
Calvino Rabeni: The "realist" can't prove that all is matter/energy, but is forced to accept it on faith
Agatha Macbeth: Faith is believing something in the absence of any hard evidence IMO
Calvino Rabeni: But when your evidence is interpretational, there is no "hard" about it
Calvino Rabeni: In other words, the definition of 'hard evidence' has imported ideas that rest on faith
Calvino Rabeni: The idea of belief is slippery since it refers to the questions that are doubtable (and might be dropped) and also the tacit assumptions that can't be questioned
arabella Ella: One can choose to drop some beliefs but definitely not all beliefs surely Storm?
Calvino Rabeni: that is from the inside view, that is
Storm Nordwind: Why not ara?
Calvino Rabeni: And from the outside view, from the view of another, the "belief" would be different
arabella Ella: because you have to at least believe that there is something (a belief) that you can drop ... and belief in dropping is in itself a belief
Qt Core: isn't the idea of being good or bad being without belief a belief ?
Calvino Rabeni: In the context of what is droppable, the beliefs and disbeliefs are probably the same kind of thing
arabella Ella nods to Qt
Storm Nordwind: The fire burns through its own fuel eventually (is the most common metaphor for that Ara)
arabella Ella smiles at the lovely metaphor
Coder Criss: surely we have no control about what memories we keep/drop
Calvino Rabeni: No, this "drop" is not like erasing the hard drive :)

Eos Amaterasu: One thing I've been noting is the continuity of 90 secs in SL and RL, when it happens
Storm Nordwind: oh?
Eos Amaterasu: "doing it" in SL and "doing it" in RL
Eos Amaterasu: (and on the road, as well :-)
Eos Amaterasu: so it's happening at the same time in two worlds
Eos Amaterasu: sl practice is rl practice when you sense the people behind the avatars
Eos Amaterasu: and rl practice is sl practice when you sense the avatars behind the people
Eos Amaterasu: then you see that both come from Being
Eos Amaterasu: both boths
Storm Nordwind: It's very strange... I guess I have always seen very little difference between the two, SL and RL
Eos Amaterasu: I think we really are pioneering something here
Storm Nordwind: That's for sure!
Eos Amaterasu: the play between the two as being a "graceful instrument"
Storm Nordwind: A lovely description :)
Eos Amaterasu: ( a stolen phrase, actually )
Storm Nordwind does not recant his comment ;)
Eos Amaterasu: We don't face Mecca, we face each other
Storm Nordwind: Now that's a profound comment Eos, even when taken out of your intended context
Eos Amaterasu: How has post Princeton been for you, Storm?
Storm Nordwind: I do feel as though something has "happened"
Storm Nordwind: Can't quite put my finger on what
Storm Nordwind: So much shared at such a deep level
Storm Nordwind: Very personal and yet...
Storm Nordwind struggles to find anything other than a hippy phrase
--BELL--
Storm Nordwind: Oh well...
Storm Nordwind: "cosmic"
Eos Amaterasu: Sometimes cosmic is the true word
Storm Nordwind: Yes. I suspect so
Storm Nordwind: I'm finding PaB is more of an adventure than I'd dreamed. Once again I'm struck with a sense of wonder. Like this evening, in RL, looking out for the first time ever on a purple blizzard!! Awestruck. Like a child. PaB is doing the same thing for me.
Eos Amaterasu: Purple blizzard, all 'round my brain
Storm Nordwind starts playing the main riff on air guitar
Eos Amaterasu: :-)
Eos Amaterasu: What created the purple in the blizzard?
Storm Nordwind: The visibility was only a hundred yards or so...
Storm Nordwind: but somewhere...
Storm Nordwind: the setting sun was catching some clouds and mountain air
Storm Nordwind: and it suffused the entire scene
Eos Amaterasu: I like it when Mama Earth puts on a show
Eos Amaterasu: (with a little help from her friends)

Bleu Oleander:
Illuminating the themes of Play as Being, I propose to create an ongoing arts project, "Art of Being" for the village area, that PaB members can participate in and work together. It could potentially make the village area a more dynamic place of being with everyone working together and learning to build. We can use the expertise of more skilled members to teach us and work with us. The goal of the project would be to reinforce the PaB themes creatively and visually. We could eventually incorporate music, poetry, photography, and performance arts. Each work of art could have a notecard for visitors that would explain PaB and the specific theme the work was depicting.
Initially, I propose to start with limitations on number of prims, size, colors, not using textures. My idea is using the "prim" as a metaphor for being; using colors for the many colors of being; using transparency for revealing being; dropping textures as a metaphor for PaB dropping.
Bleu Oleander: stricter parameters encourages more creativity

Blonde Starsmith: for my thoughts are centered on radiant acquiescence to the Creator
stevenaia Michinaga: can you explain, what that mean, Blonde?
Blonde Starsmith: yes
stevenaia Michinaga: (a question)
Blonde Starsmith: to live by the will of the Creator joyfully accepting all conditions of that path
Blonde Starsmith: having no expectations of outcome
stevenaia Michinaga: "Creator"?
Blonde Starsmith: that's only a name... unknowable essence, God
Blonde Starsmith: that which none of us can know
Blonde Starsmith: Namaste
Blonde Starsmith: The light within me honors the light within you
Blonde Starsmith: May your path be of peace and enlightenment.
Calvino Rabeni: I'd like to leave with a rumi poem
Calvino Rabeni:
You must ask for what you really want.
Don't go back to sleep.
People are going back and forth across the doorsill
where the two worlds touch.
The door is round and open.
Don't go back to sleep.
I would love to kiss you.
The price of kissing is your life.
Now my loving is running toward my life shouting,
What a bargain,
let's buy it.
