    stevenaia Michinaga: greeetings
    Korel Laloix: Heya
Korel Laloix: Just here for a moment.
Korel Laloix: How have you been?
stevenaia Michinaga: nods, thanks, you may be the only one
    stevenaia Michinaga: I am good
Korel Laloix: Been a very busy and draining week.
stevenaia Michinaga: what do you do while everyone around you celbrates what you do not?
Korel Laloix: So you survived Thanksgiving?
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, bad food and relative emersion
Korel Laloix: I do that a lot on Columbus day.
    stevenaia Michinaga: nods
    Korel Laloix: I reflect.
Korel Laloix: Look in the mirror at my own faults.
Korel Laloix: Figure new ways I can make a difference.
Korel Laloix: Easier said than done though.
stevenaia Michinaga: I can pleasently ignore christmas as everyone who "celbrates it are usually all stressed
stevenaia Michinaga: I eat chinese food with friends
Korel Laloix: We worked Thursday.... was worth it.
Korel Laloix: But yes, there are so many things that are questionable about it.
Korel Laloix: I think just looking at the better portions of it is a good way to go.
stevenaia Michinaga: I once asked a corporation I worked for to allow me to exchange one of my holidays which I would have to take as a "personal day off" for christmas and I would work on christmas... they did not view that as acceptable.
Korel Laloix: Same here, since I do Christmas in January. I just take vacation on the 7th.
Korel Laloix: Holidays are strange things really.
Korel Laloix: If I wanted to, I could find something wrong with all of them.
stevenaia Michinaga: nods, but religious holidays are their own issue
Korel Laloix: Columbus day is obviously offensive to me.
    stevenaia Michinaga: yes
Korel Laloix: And Thanksgiving seem to be the height of hipocracy.
    stevenaia Michinaga: ture
Korel Laloix: But for labor day.. how about all those workers killed for crossing union lines.
Korel Laloix: Or Veterans day... how about those that were opposed to the vietnam war or iraq wars?

    --BELL--

stevenaia Michinaga: my favorite bumper sticker... The weekend, brought to you by labor unions
Korel Laloix: Many ways to look at it for sure.
Korel Laloix: For me, if I was given a day off for Channaka or Ramadan, I would not complain.
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, but when you are penalized for taking off those days...
Korel Laloix: That might happen... I do get some strange looks about taking vacation for Christmas in January.
Korel Laloix: But my ex-Muslim ex never had issues taking off for Ramadan.
Korel Laloix: But I don't have a sample size past 1.
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: one person's personal day is another's vacation
Korel Laloix: I don't know... people at least around here seem very open to the way other people do things. .. but it is Oklahoma.
Korel Laloix: I openly call Columbus day American Genocide Day and no one confronts me about it.
stevenaia Michinaga: not difficult to understand from your perspective
Korel Laloix: But I don't complain if people call it Columbus Day either... but that is just me. I have relatives that are fairly offeended.
Korel Laloix: But then again, around here, if you have a Washington Redskins sticker on yoru car, you are likely to have your tires cut and your car scratched.
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: suprising how clueless and insensitive some people can be
Korel Laloix: I can see both ways though.. I have a few hiphop albums with the word nigger all through them.
Korel Laloix: But it is not socially acceptable to use them in everyday speach.
stevenaia Michinaga: but you probably don;t sing along
Korel Laloix: And there used to be a magazine called Redskins which was a soft porn mag that featured Native Americans.
Korel Laloix: And was produced by all First Americans.
Korel Laloix: So I think people are inconsistent about it.

    --BELL--

stevenaia Michinaga: it can be a tough call sometimes, ]
stevenaia Michinaga: which would be any less appropriate, the same produced by non-native
Korel Laloix: Very much so.. unfortunatly I have found myself in the middle of racial politics more than once.. not a fun place to be... Just being a play thing.
stevenaia Michinaga: I'm going to head out, thanks for joining me , interesting coversation :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: conversation
stevenaia Michinaga: enjoy the rest of your weekend
    Korel Laloix: Take care.
Korel Laloix: ABout to log myself.
    Korel Laloix: Ciao
