[13:06] Yakuzza Lethecus: hello flerg
[13:07] FlergMorble Resident: Hi
[13:07] Yakuzza Lethecus: you look like indiana jones :)
[13:07] FlergMorble Resident: Not really.
[13:07] Yakuzza Lethecus: sl adventurerer ?
[13:07] FlergMorble Resident: No RL anthropologist and thought this was a good choice
[13:07] Yakuzza Lethecus: :)
[13:08] Yakuzza Lethecus: are you professionally in sl or mainly out of curiousity ?
[13:08] Yakuzza Lethecus: hey bruce
[13:08] FlergMorble Resident: Mostly curiosity at the moment
[13:09] Bruce Mowbray: Hello, Yaku and Flerg.
[13:09] Yakuzza Lethecus: lots of students have to write something about virtual worlds during their studies
[13:09] FlergMorble Resident: I suppose they do. I'm not a student, though.
[13:09] Yakuzza Lethecus: yes, well students of life :)
[13:09] FlergMorble Resident: I see.
[13:10] Yakuzza Lethecus: did you come to this place before ?
[13:10] FlergMorble Resident: Yes, I've poked around a bit a couple of times.
[13:11] FlergMorble Resident: But not when there was anyone here.
[13:11] Yakuzza Lethecus: ok, these sessions are happening every 6 hours and are recorded and later on posted online
[13:11] FlergMorble Resident: Actually, maybe once when there was one person here. But we dind't talk long.
[13:11] FlergMorble Resident: YEs, I've read some of the online stuff. Interesting.
[13:12] Bruce Mowbray: Please join us, Flerg, if you wish. Just click on a cushion...
[13:12] FlergMorble Resident: It would certainly make a tremendous resource for someone doing research on SL
[13:12] FlergMorble Resident: I thought I already had joined you.
[13:12] Yakuzza Lethecus: if you would have something not recorded you may ask the guardian of the individual session, in this one it´s me
[13:13] Bruce Mowbray: (Linden Labs requires us to get permission for the resident for anything he/she says in chat - later posted in our wiki.)
[13:13] Bruce Mowbray: from the resident*
[13:13] Bruce Mowbray: sry.
[13:13] FlergMorble Resident: Makes sense
[13:13] Yakuzza Lethecus: come sit flerg, soon you may meditate in any way you like for 9 seconds :)
[13:14] FlergMorble Resident: I am sitting.
[13:14] Bruce Mowbray: You are?
[13:14] Yakuzza Lethecus: virtually :)
[13:14] FlergMorble Resident: Yes, I am.
[13:14] FlergMorble Resident: I'm curious, how does it matter if the pixels displayed on the screen appear as though the avatar is sitting or standing?
[13:14] Bruce Mowbray: curioser and curioser.
[13:15] Bruce Mowbray: Maybe I should have typed "curiouser."
[13:15] Bruce Mowbray: hmmmm.
[13:17] Yakuzza Lethecus: flerg: well it does not really matter, sometimes i leave the chat window even very large over the screen and sl becomes nothing then a large chat window without visuals
[13:17] Bruce Mowbray: akf for just a sec.
[13:18] Bruce Mowbray: afk.
[13:18] Yakuzza Lethecus: it really depends, but there were some avatars here who created this as a nice place to sit together
[13:18] FlergMorble Resident: phone call
[13:19] Bruce Mowbray: [I just got a phone call too!]
[13:20] Bruce Mowbray: Wonders if Flerg was trying to call my typist.
[13:20] Bruce Mowbray: ha ha
[13:20] Yakuzza Lethecus: :)
[13:21] Yakuzza Lethecus: well was enough to log out for him, i guess i would have just taken the phonecall without feeding back to sl
[13:21] Bruce Mowbray: ;)
[13:21] Bruce Mowbray: I have a vague recollection of seeing him here before...
[13:21] Bruce Mowbray: but not at all sure of that.
[13:21] Bruce Mowbray: It was the cowboy outfit that jogged my memory.
[13:21] Yakuzza Lethecus: well, indiana jones :)
[13:22] Yakuzza Lethecus: including the "peitsche"
[13:22] Bruce Mowbray: Yes, sort of that type of character, I guess.
[13:22] Yakuzza Lethecus: whip
[13:22] Bruce Mowbray: oh yes!
[13:22] Bruce Mowbray: scary, huh?
[13:22] Bruce Mowbray: The whip I mean, not Flerg.
[13:23] Bruce Mowbray: Have you ever heard of the software program called "Poser," Yaku?
[13:23] Yakuzza Lethecus: yes, but i never really used it
[13:23] Bruce Mowbray: Hmmmm.
[13:24] Bruce Mowbray: I've used it for over a decades, now.
[13:24] Bruce Mowbray: and I spent a lot of time today working on an image.
[13:24] Bruce Mowbray: It is amazing how much time one can "spend" (waste???) with that program.
[13:24] Bruce Mowbray: It is quite addictive.
[13:24] Yakuzza Lethecus: when you are into details :)
[13:24] Bruce Mowbray: and truly an EXCELLENT piece of software.
[13:25] Bruce Mowbray: Yews, my typist gets lost in the details.
[13:25] Yakuzza Lethecus: but 3d modelling i haven´t done since metacreations bryce 3d
[13:25] Bruce Mowbray: Ahhh., I remember BRYCE!
[13:25] Bruce Mowbray: and VUE d' ESPRIT!
[13:25] Bruce Mowbray: and a few others.
[13:25] Yakuzza Lethecus: that i don´t know but i actually bought bryce back then
[13:26] Bruce Mowbray: and I actually bought Poser!
[13:26] Bruce Mowbray: ha ha!
[13:26] Bruce Mowbray: and Vue!
[13:26] Bruce Mowbray: wow.
[13:31] Bruce Mowbray: yw.
[13:44] Qt Core: Hi Bruce, Yaku
[13:45] Bruce Mowbray: Heya, Qt!
[13:45] Yakuzza Lethecus: hey qt
[13:46] Bruce Mowbray: How is Italy today, Qt?
[13:47] Qt Core: cold, way colder than yesterday
[13:47] Bruce Mowbray: oh my.
[13:47] Qt Core: 3.5 C this morning at 8am
[13:47] Bruce Mowbray: You mean, even southern Europe gets winter?
[13:47] Bruce Mowbray: I thought that was only southern Ohio!
[13:48] Yakuzza Lethecus: i go over slippery roads the whole last week in the morning, but that´s expected in swedish november i guess :P
[13:49] Bruce Mowbray: oh my. Please be careful, good Yaku!
[13:49] Qt Core: going to get my winter tires installed on monday
[13:50] Yakuzza Lethecus: i was actually wondering if ppl in italy exept in the alps actually use wintertires
[13:50] Bruce Mowbray: I actually felt my typist's tires this morning,,,, to see if they were all right for winter, and I decided he can go another year with the ones he has now.
[13:50] Qt Core: (i have snow chains in my car to not get a ticket... but i never knew how to install them)
[13:50] Yakuzza Lethecus: you don´t even have to have chains in germany, i know that there are regions in the alps in austria that you have to have them
[13:51] Yakuzza Lethecus: here in sweden ppl even drive with spikes, which in germany is forbidden
[13:51] Bruce Mowbray: My typist has a friend in Alaska -- and up there you really do HAVE to have chains, or some special kind of tires... or else you get a ticket.
[13:52] Bruce Mowbray: and you also have to have them OFF of your car by a certain date in the spring...
[13:52] Qt Core: around here winter tires or chains are mandatory after mid october i think (i keep the chains in the car all year so no problem)
[13:52] Bruce Mowbray: and this is always a bit of panic for my friend.
[13:52] Qt Core: why you have to have them off ?
[13:52] Bruce Mowbray: {sounds like Qt might live in the Dolomites, or some such place.]
[13:52] Qt Core: as in not installed
[13:53] Bruce Mowbray: You have to have them off (in Alaska) because they tear up the roads.
[13:53] Qt Core: just a few km north of milan, but the first mountains start just about 50 km from here
[13:53] Bruce Mowbray: wow!
[13:54] Bruce Mowbray: ahhh. That must be beautiful!
[13:54] Qt Core: today it was cloudy but clear, so a very nice view of the freshly snow capped mountains, yes
[13:55] Bruce Mowbray: All my typist has for scenery are the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains - about 25 miles south of his farm. Clearly visible, but hardly anything to get excited about.
[13:55] Bruce Mowbray: but to the north, east, and west, ALL IS FLAT!
[13:57] Qt Core: this is taken (not by me) from milan city center: http://www.treklens.com/gallery/photo562250.htm
[13:57] Bruce Mowbray: OH MY!
[13:57] Bruce Mowbray: How beautiful!
[13:57] Bruce Mowbray: Inspiring!
[13:58] Qt Core: and those are to the east of milan, to the north they are even nearer
[13:58] Qt Core: sorry, west
[13:58] Qt Core: not east
[13:58] Bruce Mowbray: wow.
[13:58] Yakuzza Lethecus: beautyful
[13:58] Bruce Mowbray: indeed, Yaku.
[13:59] Yakuzza Lethecus: y=i
[13:59] Bruce Mowbray: When my typist was in Europe, (the first time), he was amazed at the varieties of scenery....
[13:59] Bruce Mowbray: mountains, and villages, and beautiful vinyards, etc etc.
[14:00] Bruce Mowbray: If such scenery also happens in America, well, it is probably far away from my typist.
[14:00] Bruce Mowbray: but alas,
[14:00] Bruce Mowbray: now he has to go.
[14:00] Bruce Mowbray: so, thanks Yaku and Qt!
[14:00] Bruce Mowbray: Have a great weekend!
[14:00] Yakuzza Lethecus: have a good weekend bruce
[14:01] Bruce Mowbray: You too!
[14:01] Qt Core: you too!
[14:01] Bruce Mowbray: Bye for now.
[14:03] Qt Core: the main issue with winter tires is where to store the 4 other tires ;-)
[14:03] Yakuzza Lethecus: did you find new interesting sims to recommend lately ?
[14:03] Yakuzza Lethecus: well we have tire hotels but it is usually pricy
[14:03] Qt Core: no, i haven't been anywhere else than my entry point sim and here in a few weeks
[14:05] Qt Core: i usually am late for those too (heard from someone that got there in time it double the price, around 50 euros for the installing and another 50 for the keeping
[14:05] Yakuzza Lethecus: to sweden i just drove with new wintertires in august but i haven´t been moving my car much
[14:06] Qt Core: at 35 or more in the air here winter tire would disintegrate in days if used in summer
[14:06] Yakuzza Lethecus: so using wintertires all year isn´t an issue on my current amount of driving, but the wintermix is melting away during sommer on intensive use
[14:06] Yakuzza Lethecus: :)
[14:07] Yakuzza Lethecus: in germany we say O-O
[14:07] Yakuzza Lethecus: Oktober bis Ostern
[14:07] Yakuzza Lethecus: October till easter
[14:08] Qt Core: it would be good too, i'm not sure if they are mandatory untill middle march or middle april
[14:09] Qt Core: add here before too
[14:09] Yakuzza Lethecus: not mandatory, till 2 years back we haven´t had a general wintertire rule in germany, but if you had an accident due to snow and no wintertires you´ve been screwed
[14:11] Qt Core: technically they are mandatory, but you can't be on some roads without them (almost all the ones outside the city centers)
[14:11] Qt Core: *aren't
[14:12] Yakuzza Lethecus: all it takes is one car without or truck
[14:13] Yakuzza Lethecus: i was always happy not to live in an urban area with dense traffic
[14:13] Qt Core: remembering when it toke me 11 hours to do my usual daily commute from work to home (19 km)
[14:14] Qt Core: it was 9, my colleagues toke 11
[14:16] Yakuzza Lethecus: bike or scooter but sure not in winter
[14:17] Yakuzza Lethecus: does milan have an underground and buslines to speed up public transportation ?
[14:18] Qt Core: yes, bus, tram, and subway and local trains too
[14:18] Yakuzza Lethecus: well with buslines i didn´t mean bus connections but buspriority lanes
[14:18] Yakuzza Lethecus: tram, that has almost died out in germany :)
[14:19] Yakuzza Lethecus: bremen still got one
[14:19] Yakuzza Lethecus: i am always scared driving there :P
[14:20] Qt Core: trams got quite a come back aroun d here (cheaper than subway to build)
[14:21] Yakuzza Lethecus: ok, i will go to bed, good night qt
[14:22] Qt Core: 'night yaku
