The Guardian for this meeting was Adams Rubble. The comments are by Adams Rubble.
Recently I saw the Spanish-made movie "Even the Rain" actually "También la lluvia" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1422032/) about the making of a movie in Bolivia about Columbus' treatment of Native Americans. While making the movie, the producer and director run into a battle for water rights which parallels their story. This is the background for my discussion with Korel today where I am introduced to the concept of Rembrance Day that for many people replaces the U.S. Columbus Day holiday (October 12).
Korel Laloix: Osiyo
Adams Rubble: Hello Korel
Adams Rubble: how are you?
Korel Laloix: Good.. been a lovely day so far.
Adams Rubble: :)
Korel Laloix: Not much to do the rest of the day and I actually get tomorrow off... smiles
Adams Rubble: me too
Korel Laloix: yea
Adams Rubble: first time in many many years
Korel Laloix: I usually end up helping with some sort of remembrance thing around C-day. but not this year. Was not up for it.
Adams Rubble: It is a holiday that might be best dropped
Korel Laloix: Not sure about dropped, but changed I think.
Adams Rubble: what is done on remembrance day?
Korel Laloix: Many different things... a couple of years ago I danced at one.. and there was a reading of the known or suspected tribes that were completely killed off.
Korel Laloix: And some lisiting of some of the worst things in our tribal history.
Korel Laloix: And then we had a Catholic priest come and chat. Was good, but very dark in the end.
Adams Rubble: I just took a quick look online
Korel Laloix: I think it was good though... let some people better be able to put things in perspective.
Adams Rubble nods
Korel Laloix: I just have issues of holding yesterday to today's standards.
Adams Rubble: of course but at the ame time we need to recognize that it was not all peaches and cream
Korel Laloix: yes, things were horrid, but in the end, all peoples will be brutal to others if given the chance.
Adams Rubble: they can be, we do not have to be
Korel Laloix: Ture, but even if you read things today, there are some that want to get back in that mode.
Adams Rubble: yes
Korel Laloix: And how do you fight that is the question.
Korel Laloix: Difficult.
Adams Rubble: change comes person by person with knowledge we are all one
Korel Laloix: Very easy to say, very hard to actually get that point across though.
Adams Rubble: I like the idea of remembrance day
Adams Rubble: This is the first I heard about it

Korel Laloix: I have no issues with the idea of C-day....celebrating progress and exploration is a good thing.
Korel Laloix: And rename it, just like the NFL team needs to be renamed.
Adams Rubble: yes that too
Korel Laloix: And then create another holiday for American Genocide Remembrance in one of the months without a federal holiday.
Adams Rubble: mandella set a wonderful example in South Africa
Korel Laloix: I would suggest December 26 as that was the day of Lincoln's mass execution of Dakotas.
Korel Laloix: But so close to western Christmas would not be good.
Korel Laloix: So maybe March or June as I don't think there are Federal Holidays then.
Adams Rubble: a day of tears
Korel Laloix: A lot of blacks call Lincoln the great emancipator or something like that... in my circles, he tends to be called the mass executioner or great genocider... I think you get the picture.
Adams Rubble: I did not know about this massacre
Korel Laloix: Lincoln's barbarity towards us is often hidden as it is politically incorrect to criticize him. Some argue his assassination was one of the best things to ever happen to us. But that is not an idea I am willing to advance as I don't know enough about it.

Korel Laloix: This place is a bit stretched in some ways, but I do agree there needs to be a National Museum about the mass death of Native Americans.
Adams Rubble: hopefully we will find ways to all of us come together in better understanding
Adams Rubble: I must go back to RL. Thank you for the information
Adams Rubble: bye for now
Korel Laloix: No worries.. thanks for the chat.
