The Guardian for this meeting was Bruce Mowbray. The comments are by Bruce Mowbray.
Korel Laloix: Oisyo
Korel Laloix: Osiyo even.. smiles
Bruce Mowbray: Hi, Kori.
Korel Laloix: Just ignore mytyping today.
Bruce Mowbray: mine too.
Bruce Mowbray: Just sec. I've got to claim this session....
Korel Laloix: What did you say?.. smiles
Korel Laloix: brb
Bruce Mowbray: done.
Bruce Mowbray: I'm a bit distracted today. We hVE COMBINES IN TH FIELD TAKING OUT SOYBEANS, AND MY FARMER WILL PROBABLY SHOW UP AT THE DOOR AT ANY MOMENT.
Bruce Mowbray: ooops. sry about those caps.
Korel Laloix: No worries.
Korel Laloix: I am off work today but Sama is working..
Bruce Mowbray: ahhh.
Korel Laloix: So I am going to meet her for dinner in a bit.
Bruce Mowbray: The two combines are very close to the house now, so I'm having trouble hearing you.
Korel Laloix: I WILL YELL THEN.. lol
Bruce Mowbray: kk, np. Just take off when you wish....
Korel Laloix: Depends on when she calls.
Bruce Mowbray nods, understands.
Korel Laloix: So you lease your fields to a farmer then?
Bruce Mowbray: The same with my farmer -- who might appear at the door any time.
Bruce Mowbray: We "cash rent” the land to a farmer, yes.
Bruce Mowbray: Carl's been our farmer since 1981.
Korel Laloix: Great for you both then.
Bruce Mowbray: :)
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, we are very fortunate to have him.
Korel Laloix: Does a good crop rotation? or do you decide what goes in?
Bruce Mowbray: My guess is that he's one of the top five farmers in the entire state, seriously.
Bruce Mowbray: No, he makes all decisions. Thank goodness.
Korel Laloix: There is a sixth sense about farming for sure.
Bruce Mowbray: I just say, "Great! Sounds good"…and stuff like that -- as if I even knew what I was talking about. Ha ha.
Korel Laloix: Grandma could tell what to plant for coming season perfectly... she knew what would grow and not.
Bruce Mowbray nods.
Bruce Mowbray: So much of large-scale is highly technical these days.
Korel Laloix: The few years I was living with her we gave away far more food than we ate or canned.
Bruce Mowbray: Wonderful.
Korel Laloix: I took about 650 jars from the house.
Bruce Mowbray: Such knowledge (or inner sense) is priceless.
Korel Laloix: So we are enjoying those slowly..
Bruce Mowbray: wonderful.
Bruce Mowbray: Nothing like canned stuff from the home garden in the middle of winter.
Korel Laloix: Gave away a bit more than that...the basement was full.
Korel Laloix: The stuff that is the best though is the honey.
Bruce Mowbray: I used to can peaches. . . . and then open them in January.
Bruce Mowbray: Honey -- wonderful.
Korel Laloix: Spiced it and added walnuts...
Bruce Mowbray: oh my!
Korel Laloix: Some of it as old as I am.
Bruce Mowbray: wow.
Bruce Mowbray: Honey could probably last forever.
Korel Laloix: By itself yes, but not sure about with other stuff added in..
Bruce Mowbray nods.
Bruce Mowbray: brb
Korel Laloix: z scdsszcsdddddddyuhiki;p.lkoooooooooooooooooooooooo
Korel Laloix: Sorry , cat.
--BELL—
Bruce Mowbray: :)
Bruce Mowbray: So the cat walked from left to right across your keyboard?
Korel Laloix: more of a full body role... lol
Bruce Mowbray: (but only got halfway).
Bruce Mowbray: Acrobatic cat!
Bruce Mowbray: Yikes!
Korel Laloix: No, he was pretty well over the entire thing.. smiles
Bruce Mowbray: I've been thinking about getting some kittens from a friend.
Bruce Mowbray: but I get too attached.
Zon Kwan: heya
Bruce Mowbray: Heya, Zon.
Zon Kwan: fear to attach?
Korel Laloix: The Cat adopted grandma couple of weeks before she adopted me.
Korel Laloix: Heya
Bruce Mowbray: My friend takes in feral cats - pregnant ones.... and ends up with dozens of kittens to get rid of...
Zon Kwan: too much is too much
Bruce Mowbray: https://www.gofundme.com/2y5z5xsw
Korel Laloix: Not sure I could handle kittens.
Korel Laloix: In that number for sure.
Bruce Mowbray: My friends are very good with them. Nursing them back to health, spaying and neutering them all before turning them over to responsible new caretakers.
Bruce Mowbray: But since I lost my Bear Dog two years ago, I'm not sure I'm emotionally up to taking care of another pet.
Korel Laloix: Good of them to do that...
Bruce Mowbray: I think they have over a dozen cats in their home right now.
Korel Laloix: I have had a bit too much loss this year... so I know the feeling.
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, they are good people - and good friends.
Bruce Mowbray: Do you have cats or dogs, Zon?
Zon Kwan: not atm
Bruce Mowbray nods.
Zon Kwan: but i like dogs more
Bruce Mowbray: me too.
Bruce Mowbray: I have not had a cat since 1964, actually.
Bruce Mowbray: (in undergrad school).
Bruce Mowbray: His name was Servetus.
Zon Kwan: smiles
Bruce Mowbray: a stray -- absolutely covered with fleas when I got him.
Korel Laloix: Never had a pet until The Cat....
Bruce Mowbray: So, I gave him a bath in Pine Sol and water, got rid of all the fleas, and he made my place his home.
Korel Laloix: Could have used one growing up, would have made things a bit more tolerable I think.
Bruce Mowbray: ahhh, yes, I agree.
Bruce Mowbray: My best friend in childhood was an English setter...
Bruce Mowbray: named "Count"
Bruce Mowbray: The first thing I remember in life was his birth, actually.
Bruce Mowbray: Count died when I was sixteen.
Bruce Mowbray: Definitely a member of the family -- and my favorite sibling.
Bruce Mowbray: The only time I ever saw my father cry was when Count died.
Bruce Mowbray: (but he didn't cry much...)
Korel Laloix: We thought we had lost The Cat for a bit, When grandma died, he sort of disappeared for a couple of days. Would have been horrid.
Bruce Mowbray: wow.
--BELL—
Bruce Mowbray: Cats are amazingly sensitive, I've heard.
Bruce Mowbray: like psychic vacuum sweepers.
Bruce Mowbray: My sister lost her cat for two weeks after the big quake in California several years ago.
Bruce Mowbray: but it eventually came back.
Bruce Mowbray hums "The cat came back" to himself.
Bruce Mowbray: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LjMffHG1V_Q
Korel Laloix: lol.. never heard of that one.
Bruce Mowbray: :)
Korel Laloix: It is just good to have the company sometimes though.
Bruce Mowbray nods, agrees.
Bruce Mowbray: Being a hermit without pets can be a dull life.
Korel Laloix: You have a farmer as well... smiles
Bruce Mowbray: but I do enjoy the birds, and the squirrels (as long as they stay off my roof).
Bruce Mowbray: well, my farmer usually only shows up during planting and harvesting seasons.
Bruce Mowbray: but I very seldom get lonely.
Korel Laloix: well it is good to have your company here, Bruce.
Bruce Mowbray: TY!
Korel Laloix: I am around people too much I feel.. That is why I take my week long alone camping trips.
Korel Laloix: Not sure how that will work this year though with Sama.
Bruce Mowbray nods.
Bruce Mowbray: I live five miles from the nearest small town....
Bruce Mowbray: and that's just fine with me.
Korel Laloix: That is one thing Sama and I will have to figure out.
Bruce Mowbray: My nearest neighbors on the road are almost half a mile away.
Korel Laloix: I could easily live on a deserted island or isolated ranch and she would like a bit flat in a major urban area.
Bruce Mowbray: Well, I'm sure you and she will find ways to compatibly work out your living situation.
Bruce Mowbray: (pardon the split infinitive).
Korel Laloix: lol
Bruce Mowbray: With all that wonderful canned food, how could you miss?
Korel Laloix: i think we are good for a couple of decades at least.
Bruce Mowbray: Fantastic.
Bruce Mowbray: That’s two decades longer than any relationship of mine lasted.
Korel Laloix: OK.. back to RL.. going to meet same.
Bruce Mowbray: I wish you all the best.
Korel Laloix: Thanks..
Bruce Mowbray: kk, bye for now!
Korel Laloix: Ciao bello.
