    Adams Rubble: mailed a snail mail letter this morning on way to glass store

    Riddle Sideways: have 3 envelopes with these stamp things on them to take to small box at end of driveway
    Riddle Sideways: a cute antiquated procedure
    Adams Rubble: many people are dependent on it
    Riddle Sideways: the daily exercise going down and back up the drive
    Riddle Sideways: getting the paper, a magizine, an advert and maybe a postcard
    Riddle Sideways: oh and some bills
    Adams Rubble: D-liver D-letter D-sooner D-better
    Riddle Sideways: hums along
    Adams Rubble: except the bills
    Adams Rubble: most of my bills come email
    Riddle Sideways: Mr. Postman ... Look and see

    Riddle Sideways: was on phone 3 times with a cell phone company (name withheld) to get bill on paper

    Riddle Sideways: Then there are the Amish Tech heros
    Riddle Sideways: well, anti-tech heros
    Riddle Sideways: in upstate NY we went to a benefit auction
    Riddle Sideways: for the Amish Relief Fund
    Adams Rubble listens
    Riddle Sideways: they don't have heath insureance
    Adams Rubble: yes
    Riddle Sideways: so they raise moneys themselves
    Riddle Sideways: sort of like their own insurance company
    Riddle Sideways: big 2 ring circus of an auction
    Riddle Sideways: outside there was large machinery and hardware auction going on
    Riddle Sideways: under a huge tent the household goods, quilts, rocking chairs, etc was going on
    Riddle Sideways: teams of auctioneers were selling stuff
    Riddle Sideways: the parking lot was amazing too
    Riddle Sideways: the autos had to park in a different field
    Riddle Sideways: there were probably 150-200 buggies parked together in a field
    Riddle Sideways: and all the little kids in their best uniform cloths
    Riddle Sideways: slight differences in the clothing between sects, areas, something
    Riddle Sideways: some in deep purples, blacks, greys
    Riddle Sideways: a huge community event
    Adams Rubble: very intyeresting
    Riddle Sideways: getting together, chatting, laughing
    Riddle Sideways: maybe selling a quilt
    Adams Rubble: were the items in the one tent mostly made by them?
    Riddle Sideways: yes. think everything was hand made
    Riddle Sideways: and donated
    Adams Rubble is surprised about the machinery
    Riddle Sideways: things outside in the field were not handmade
    Adams Rubble: of course but surprised they were selling it
    Riddle Sideways: benefit auction

    Riddle Sideways: must have been 50+ metal dust pans sold at around $40-$80
    Adams Rubble: !!!!
    Riddle Sideways: and lots of food tents
    Riddle Sideways: over to the side was a gasoline engine pullied up to a hand crank ice cream maker
    Adams Rubble: :)
    Riddle Sideways: making some of the BEST ice cream ever
    Adams Rubble: :)
    Adams Rubble: real cream
    Riddle Sideways: yes
    Riddle Sideways: being separated right there
    Adams Rubble: this is touching on lots of memories
    Riddle Sideways: yes! it did
    Riddle Sideways: partner had never witnessed this type of thing before
    Riddle Sideways: each year we go back and go to 3-5 farm stores
    Riddle Sideways: look at quilts, furniture, eggs
    Riddle Sideways: however, not allowed to take photos of Amish
    Riddle Sideways: so no pics of people
    Riddle Sideways: the idea of living in a huge community that has no need of a smartphone
    Adams Rubble: I never went to anything like that
    Riddle Sideways: grew up going to them
    Adams Rubble: but was familiar with a simpler life growing up with grandparent's farm
    Riddle Sideways: then during that hippie homestead period got to know many farmers and families
    Adams Rubble: remembers them making fresh ice cream
    Riddle Sideways: ah!
    Adams Rubble: we all have choices in life :)
    Riddle Sideways: yes
    Adams Rubble: I do not own a smartphone
    Riddle Sideways: and what one does with them
    Adams Rubble: yes
    Riddle Sideways: oh, good
    Adams Rubble: It is hard on some of the young people
    Riddle Sideways: daughter, just got one finally. from the flip phone texting keyboard kind
    Riddle Sideways: the shame of being in the sixth grade and the only one without the latest smartphone
    Adams Rubble: I remember the sheds for horses and carriages left over from past days at the church where my grandparents went
    Adams Rubble: oh the shame of it
    Riddle Sideways: remembering driving through area and the kids picking out which houses had no electric wires to the house
    Adams Rubble: oh the shame of typing during the 90 second meditation
    Adams Rubble: yes and getting stuck behind the horse and buggy on Sunday mornings

    Adams Rubble: ah yes, stay away from any road pointing to the shore
    Adams Rubble: ok to go in other direction
    Adams Rubble: tricky part, on some roads, both directions are routes to the shore
    Riddle Sideways: went north to TappenZee bridge instead of GW
    Adams Rubble: ohhhh
    Adams Rubble: both bad
    Riddle Sideways: and sat in parked traffic of old bridge
    Adams Rubble: yes
    Riddle Sideways: looking over at the new bridge parts

    Adams Rubble: the roads from Boston to Washington are killers
    Riddle Sideways: remembering a documentary on the NYC bridges
    Riddle Sideways: and road system building
    Riddle Sideways: the calculating that this new road and bridge would solve All traffic issues
    Adams Rubble has a book
    Riddle Sideways: by the opening it was not enough
    Adams Rubble: the smarter engineers knew more was needed
    Adams Rubble: but no one listened to them
    Riddle Sideways: so people moved out to Long Island
    Adams Rubble: then World Wars intervened for some projects
    Riddle Sideways: and increased traffic to the city
    Riddle Sideways: ah, yes
    Riddle Sideways: steel not available
    Adams Rubble: Long Island was swept over during the 1939 hurricane. Houses washed into Connecticut. long island scares me
    Adams Rubble: only one was off--through NYC
    Adams Rubble: one way off
    Adams Rubble shudders
    Adams Rubble: lots of people aout there

    Riddle Sideways: same with all the islands of the world
    Adams Rubble: yes. people forget
    Riddle Sideways: or Samalua
    Adams Rubble: I've never seen it so it is OK

    Adams Rubble: It snowed last winter so global warming does not exist
    Adams Rubble: I was cold
