Storm Nordwind: When there is no real need and the deadline is imposed arbitrarily from outside, it merely generates resentment or loss of credibility.

Storm Nordwind: The secret is in the word 'agreement'. In the grander scheme of things, it's arguably all arbitrary. But in the scheme of human relations, it is no longer arbitrary as things like honor and credibility have been accepted voluntarily to be at stake.

Storm Nordwind: Though perhaps that was a full replacement together with uploading consciousness somewhere

Storm Nordwind: In a small way I guess it has already started, with artificial hips and knees and whatnot. Though i could be wrong, as that may not be included in the scope of Transhumanism.
Storm Nordwind: I remember when I first saw the term I was confused between it and Humanism!

stevenaia Michinaga: the reversal of human's feeling of inadequacy perhaps?

Storm Nordwind: I suspect simply wishing to fulfill one's potential using any means possible. Plus, perhaps in some cases, a grab at immortality.
stevenaia Michinaga: I would imagine a Transhuman hip replacement would be an enhancement, not just a replacement
