Attending: Aphrodite, Bruce
Regrets: Alfred, Stevenaia
1. Action: It was agreed in principle (Stevenaia giving email consent and following Eliza’s suggestion) that we create a tutorial folder labeled "New Guardians" inside of the Guardian Pages Handbook where we will put the following text written by Storm. (Any fine-tuning can be done in subsequent meetings). This text is a confirmation in writing of an already existing regulation.
Building on Play as Being Land"Guardians are given Second Life build permissions on Play as Being owned land. Although from aSecond Life point of view this technically applies to all Play as Being land, we ask that Guardians keep their builds to (a) their own personal guardian plot, if they have applied for one and been granted such a plot, (b) any adjacent courtyard plot (with agreement from their neighbors), (c) the Art Dome in response to calls for exhibits, and (d) the Prim Workshop area. (See also the Guardian Plot FAQ.)
If a guardian wishes to build on a common area such as near the Pavilion, they should consult with the Play as Being Working Group first, and if the suggested build is likely to be controversial in nature (expressing, for example, political views,) written permission from the Kira Institute should be sought before any build is started.
2. Action: It was agreed by Bruce, Aphrodite and Stevenaia (by email) thatthe following highlighted changes be madetoSection 14of theGuardian Plots FAQ (http://wiki.playasbeing.org/Guardian_Pages/Tutorials/Guardian_plots_FAQ):
Can I build anything on my plot?
We ask you to build only within the boundaries of your plot with no overhangs. We also ask you to blendyour build in with the rest of the area. On the other hand, it doesn't always have to look "finished". Experimentation is a key part of play, and "work in progress" may be a good description of what you'll see on many guardian plots! We also ask you to remember that people may see you as a representative of Play as Being and may judge the project by what you build there. This may be true whether or not you want to be seen as such a representative! Therefore please ensure that any political signs, banners or manifestos placed within your plot should be signed and displayed clearly as being your personal expression and not representing the views of PaB or the Kira Institute.
Steve made the following addition:
Your disclaimer could be worded thus: “This (sign/banner/statement/manifesto) created by (your name here) does not necessarily represent the views of PaB or the Kira Institute.”
Please also note that no political signs, banners or manifestos may be placed at the Play as Being Pavilion, Kira Café or Five Bells Pub without permission of the Kira Institute.
3. Eliza has proposed new Guardians; Aph, Bruce and Steve supported the nominations.
Action: Aph will send out separate notices for each proposal to all Guardians for approval.
4. Next WG Meeting: January 18, 2012 at 11:30 SLT
