Bleu Oleander: well not great but hanging in there
Bleu Oleander: day by day kinda thing

    --BELL--

Bleu Oleander: how did your baby do?
Eliza Madrigal nods... was thinking that arthritic issues might be there during rain storms
Eliza Madrigal: He is doing so well, but hates the cone of course
Bleu Oleander: vet thinks it neurological
    Eliza Madrigal: ooh :(
Bleu Oleander: "cones" ha ha remember those well :)
Eliza Madrigal: my son calls him Conan :P
Eliza Madrigal: but pretty remarkable what he can do even wearing that!
Bleu Oleander: we have several variations on those in our "puppy" closet lol
    Eliza Madrigal: aw

    Whatcha Reading?

Eliza Madrigal: So what else are you up to? Classes, reading?
Bleu Oleander: tackling Shakespeare now :)
    Eliza Madrigal: oooo
Eliza Madrigal: is it a course?
Bleu Oleander: no, just a mix of things
    Bleu Oleander: books, plays, videos
    Eliza Madrigal: I see
Eliza Madrigal: One great book, I thought anyway, was Invention of a Human
Bleu Oleander: very interesting one ... Hamlet in Purgatory
    Eliza Madrigal: book, or video?
Bleu Oleander: is that on Shakespeare?
    Bleu Oleander: book
    Eliza Madrigal: yes, Harold Bloom
    Bleu Oleander: Greenblatt
    Eliza Madrigal: ty
Bleu Oleander: will look into that one thanks
Bleu Oleander: also reading "will in the World" by him
Eliza Madrigal: Oh, yes, I had that
Eliza Madrigal wonders where it went

Bleu Oleander: and just read Hamlet and watched a recent version on video
    Eliza Madrigal: wonderful
Eliza Madrigal: there are some interesting video versions... one I remember with Kevin Kline
    Eliza Madrigal: pared down stage
Bleu Oleander: interesting, I just found out that Kevin Kline is a friend of the person who directs the Shakespeare theater here in AZ
Eliza Madrigal: but the Lawrence Olivier is prob the best
Eliza Madrigal: ah! :) few degrees of separation
Bleu Oleander: apparently he comes here for that
    Bleu Oleander: :)
Eliza Madrigal: love him... he isn't in enough these days
Eliza Madrigal: that I know of anyway :)

Eliza Madrigal: I'm about to read a book that was very popular last year into this one,
Eliza Madrigal: All the Light We Cannot See
Bleu Oleander: this is the one I just watched http://video.pbs.org/video/1473795626/?start=1200
Eliza Madrigal: wondered if you read that
    Eliza Madrigal clicks, ty
    Bleu Oleander: I haven't
Bleu Oleander: heard it was good
Bleu Oleander: just a time issue ... sighs
Eliza Madrigal: yes, understand for sure
Bleu Oleander: you'll have to let me know if good
    Eliza Madrigal: OK

Eliza Madrigal: I've been diverted but am coming back to craving for good books :)
Bleu Oleander: just finishing up "Purity" by Franzen
Eliza Madrigal: interesting...wondering if I heard of that before...
Bleu Oleander: he's a top writer ... read "Corrections" a few years ago and loved that one
Eliza Madrigal: It seems familiar...may have been mentioned on a podcast I listen to

    Emotional Education

Eliza Madrigal: It took me many months to finish The Book of Strange New Things, since I'd been majoring in Korean TV
    Eliza Madrigal laughs
    Bleu Oleander: :)
Eliza Madrigal: getting an emotional education :)
Bleu Oleander: what have you learned?
Eliza Madrigal: strange to say, but the shows make me cry and laugh... and I needed to do that

    Pavilion Voting

    10.12 morning session_001.jpg

    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Xiri! :)
    Bleu Oleander: hi Xiri :)
Xirana Oximoxi: hello Eliza and Bleu! :)
Eliza Madrigal: You look very festive, Xiri!
Xirana Oximoxi: nice pavilion .. hihi :)
Eliza Madrigal: just a few days before end of voting
Bleu Oleander: isn't today the last day?
    Eliza Madrigal: lots responded
Xirana Oximoxi: yes:) I am making a kind of immersion into a circus
Eliza Madrigal: Oh is it the 13th?
    Xirana Oximoxi: tomorrow then
Bleu Oleander: oh yes maybe ... confused day wise
Eliza Madrigal: so just one day more!
Bleu Oleander: so today and tomorrow
Bleu Oleander: so a lot responded?
Eliza Madrigal: yes... I think all the regulars
    Bleu Oleander: nice :)
Eliza Madrigal: agreed...like a family home trying to agree on wallpaper
    Bleu Oleander: yes!

    --BELL--

Bleu Oleander: or redecorating the livingroom
Xirana Oximoxi: hehe yes!! good way to compare it :)
    Bleu Oleander: its been fun
Eliza Madrigal: when able to reflect, it has been a good project to ease into the various changes
    Bleu Oleander: yes

Eliza Madrigal: Are you reading anything interesting these days Xiri?
Xirana Oximoxi: I am reading an interesting book..realted to elephants..but with intrigue... "Leaving time" by Jodi Picoult
Xirana Oximoxi: I am liking it...but I am at the beginning
    Eliza Madrigal: nice title
    Xirana Oximoxi: http://www.jodipicoult.com/leaving-time.html

Eliza Madrigal: wow, we paused :))
    Eliza Madrigal clicks
    Xirana Oximoxi: hehe yes :)

    Elephant paintings

Bleu Oleander: elephants are so fascinating
Xirana Oximoxi: time to look for the link:)
    Bleu Oleander: :)
    Eliza Madrigal: ha ha
Xirana Oximoxi: yes...they are amazing and it seems the author has studied them well to write the book
Eliza Madrigal: they are amazing creatures
    Eliza Madrigal: their mourning rituals?
Xirana Oximoxi: have you seen images of the elephants painting?
    Bleu Oleander: yes
Bleu Oleander: we had an elephant painter here in AZ
    Bleu Oleander: Ruby
Eliza Madrigal: snippets but haven't really paid deep attention
Xirana Oximoxi: I've found it impressive...
Eliza Madrigal: do you see thought onto the canvas?
    Xirana Oximoxi: https://www.google.es/search?q=eleph...iw=960&bih=460
Xirana Oximoxi: they even paint elephants themselves..kind of autoportrait
Eliza Madrigal: oooh, I see. I remember this as a hoax but it isn't! wow
Bleu Oleander: wow I've never seen anything except abstracts
Bleu Oleander: I would have to see that with my own eyes lol
    Eliza Madrigal: yeah....
Eliza Madrigal: I'm mostly fascinated by emotional range, but how interesting that they can be taught particular strokes
Xirana Oximoxi: yes:) I agree... maybe it is not true...I don't know the source of these images
Bleu Oleander: they seem to take care selecting colors
Bleu Oleander: Ruby was very talented but only did abstracts
Xirana Oximoxi: I will investigate a bit more about it :)
Bleu Oleander: I would imagine that they could be trained with certain strokes to create images
Eliza Madrigal: It seems true, but there are questions about the treatment http://myths.answers.com/other/is-th...x-truly-a-myth
Xirana Oximoxi: doing abstracts does not seem as fascinating than when we see they do representative images
    Eliza Madrigal nods

    Abstract Art

Bleu Oleander: although abstracts are hard to do really
    Eliza Madrigal: yes
Bleu Oleander: everyone thinks they can do them, but not many can pull off a really good one
Eliza Madrigal: there is some indefinable quality, which I guess is the point
Xirana Oximoxi: they say it is a training ...but I do also have done a lot of training :)
    Eliza Madrigal: hehe
    Bleu Oleander: :)
Bleu Oleander: I'm also reading a book on Agnes Martin
Bleu Oleander: she did abstract work that I really love
Xirana Oximoxi: anyway...I would prefer to see all of them free and in their environment

    --BELL--

Bleu Oleander: infact I think you both might enjoy the book ... by Nancy Princenthal
Eliza Madrigal: her work looks like textures
Eliza Madrigal: Xiri, me too, cept their environment is encroached upon :(
Bleu Oleander: so different when you understand her thoughts

Bleu Oleander: "Martin believed that all living things share the capacity for such harmony; the lines she drew mapped a cosmic transit of power that fuels happiness, beauty and innocence and danger as well. In seeking to express the vibrancy and joy inherent to animate being, she also strove to regulate an energy that was not always easy to tame" from the book

Xirana Oximoxi: I have looked for images....I did not know her. Is the book about her own thougths or about the critics ?
Eliza Madrigal: looking at the images, the ones taken in museum displays make a hugely different impression
Bleu Oleander: Princenthal is a major art critic who was an editor for Art in America
    Bleu Oleander: really thoughful book
    Bleu Oleander: art as practice
    Eliza Madrigal: nice
    Bleu Oleander: yes

Eliza Madrigal: books are piling up :)) I want to read Eiko's Taming the Samurai book with more attention soon, too... sigh :))
Xirana Oximoxi: yes:) this happens to me too...books waitnig to be read:) it's good there are so much interesting writers
    Bleu Oleander: always a stack!

    Boredom

Bleu Oleander: I don't understand how anyone can ever be bored lol
Xirana Oximoxi: I see the book is a biography, I am sure it is really interesting
Eliza Madrigal: :) I can be bored. There are times when an area of interest dries up
Xirana Oximoxi: hehe yes, I agree Bleu!
Eliza Madrigal: and if I keep doing whatever the interest was, I get bored
Xirana Oximoxi: I can be lazy...but rarely bored :)
Bleu Oleander: the key is to have lots of areas of interest ... at least for me ha ha!
Eliza Madrigal: takes time to shed former patterns, so there comes a restlessness

Eliza Madrigal: If not for boredom I would never have gotten involved in SL
Eliza Madrigal: it came at a restless time
Bleu Oleander: so boredom encourages exploration for you?
Xirana Oximoxi: ah! then it's good....thanks to boredom we have met you! :)
    Eliza Madrigal: definitely
    Bleu Oleander: you!!
    Bleu Oleander: yes!!
Eliza Madrigal: improbable things come from that kind of time I think
Eliza Madrigal: when you are trying things you might never have considered before
    Eliza Madrigal: <3
    Xirana Oximoxi: :)
Eliza Madrigal: yes I feel fortunate too

    Positive Energy from SL/PaB

Xirana Oximoxi: I've had a lot of positive energy from SL to explore new things too
    Eliza Madrigal: yes!
    Bleu Oleander: yes me too
    Eliza Madrigal: taps different resources
Bleu Oleander: have followed up on many leads from PaB
Bleu Oleander: too many to even name
    Eliza Madrigal: indeed
Eliza Madrigal: It seems really natural to learn from direct and often spontaneous encounters with others
    Bleu Oleander: yes

    --BELL--

    Xirana Oximoxi: thanks, you too!
Bleu Oleander: I love birch trees :)
Eliza Madrigal: they bring Vermont to mind
Eliza Madrigal: Oh wow did they just bloom or get bigger?
Bleu Oleander: these change for the season too
    Eliza Madrigal: wonderful
Bleu Oleander: changed to fall :)
Eliza Madrigal: if not used with next pavilion maybe that could solve the bottom floor or retreat space
    Eliza Madrigal: birch forest
Bleu Oleander: oh yes, that would be nice
Eliza Madrigal: have wanted to do something simple that keeps spaciousness
    Bleu Oleander: yes
Bleu Oleander: these are from Skye
    Bleu Oleander: very nice
    Eliza Madrigal: like very much
Eliza Madrigal: and actually the other trees with the soft edges and mossy feel are lovely too

    Eliza Madrigal: :) true
Eliza Madrigal: I'm a terrible IMer
    Bleu Oleander: :)
Eliza Madrigal: that's a personality aspect that even SL has not shed
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Bleu Oleander: :)
