The Guardian for this meeting was Wol...
Wol Euler: buongiorno, qt
Qt Core: Hi Wol!
Wol Euler: back in a sec, coffee is ready
Qt Core: ok
--BELL--
Wol Euler: back
Qt Core: i discovered a way to overcome my hate for coffee, i (almost) like latte macchiato (stained milk), basically a glass of warm milk with an espresso in it... but only with a couple of sweateners in it
Wol Euler smiles.
Wol Euler: it#s a great winter evening drink
Qt Core: it has more milk than a cappuccino, so the coffee burned taste dissolve a little more
Qt Core: but then i ask myself why i bother, i'm trying to conform to the idea that everyone should like coffee ?
Wol Euler: heheheh
Qt Core: if you make that at home it is usually called caffelatte more than caffe' macchiato
Wol Euler: aren't those different things? I think of a caffelatte as having lots of milk, and a macchiato as only a splash of it
Qt Core: you are thinking about caffe' macchiato, an espresso with a frop of milk, latte macchiato is the opposite
Wol Euler: indeed
Wol Euler: I meant that to me caffelatte is not the same as caffe macchiato
Wol Euler: anyway :)
Qt Core: yes, a lot more milk, yes
Wol Euler: I remember hating coffee until I had cappucino in Rome. that was a revelation
Wol Euler: as if the only fish you'd ever eaten was carp, and then somebody serves you salmon
Qt Core: i tried that too, the foam is fantastic, but under that the coffee/milk ratio is too high for my taste
Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler sips her plain coffee with milk and nods.
Qt Core: in the end i go for cold or hot milk with biscuit as breakfast, if hot i usually add unsweetened cocoa powder and sugar/sweetener (no it isn't the same wit sweetened cocoa powder)
Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: there's always too much sugar in the premixed sorts for my taste
Wol Euler: or sweetener
Qt Core: yesterday i discovered a smart brand of sweeteners, they sell many kind of them, basically every combination of the most used chemicals so you can choose the one you like better with or without saccarine/stevia/acesulfame k/aspartame, etc etc
Wol Euler: ah :)
--BELL--
Wol Euler: wb
Qt Core: ty
Qt Core: there are wine/beer/homey/olive oil/water taste tester, i choose artificial sweetener as my filed... silly me
Wol Euler laughs.
Qt Core: yesterday and today are glorious summer days, a veru shining and hot sun, dry air and a little wind... and i'm a little ill so can;t really benefit from it, damn
Wol Euler: awwwwwww
Wol Euler: that is unfortunate
Wol Euler: it's cloudy and chilly here, the heating actually came on overnight a few days back
Qt Core: !
Wol Euler: yeah
Wol Euler: and a week before that it had been 32°
Wol Euler: crazy weather
Qt Core: weather here seems to like 10/15 degree jumps this years, even here
Wol Euler nods.
Qt Core: all in all i prefer it on hot&humid
Qt Core: *over
Wol Euler: agreed
Wol Euler: the older I get, the more I prefer milder weather
Wol Euler: 27° and a slight breeze is perfect
Qt Core: yesterda was like that, but 29/30
Qt Core: perfect to not switch on the AC (or just the fan part)
Wol Euler nods.
Qt Core: now if only there was a place in the world with such a weather all year long... and not subject to hurricanes/volcanoes/earthquakes...
Qt Core: and obnoxious people too
Qt Core: ;-)
--BELL--
Wol Euler: we'd call it "Paradise" and all want to live there
Wol Euler: though I think I'd miss winter if it were that temperature all the time
Wol Euler: I was reading about some caribbean island where the summer and winter temperatures are only 3° apart. How dull!
Qt Core: not having to go see how the weather is to choose attire seems good to me (so antarctica may be good too ;-))
Wol Euler: heheheheh
Wol Euler: very simple there, yes
Qt Core: all in all especially as for the hurricane/volcanoes/earthquake part i thing northern italy is quite a good place to live, i'll endire hot&humid in summer and madness in the street when snow falls in winter
Wol Euler: Victoria on the Canadian Pacific coast is pretty good too, mild winters and cool summers
Qt Core: i often forgot that canada has a pacific coast too (and even about most of the northern USA pacific coast) like if there is nothing north of San Francisco...
Wol Euler chuckles.
Wol Euler: like the mediaeval maps: "here be monsters"
Qt Core: k, maybe i remembere there is Seattle
Qt Core: hic sunt leones
Wol Euler smiles.
Qt Core: "there are lions there"
Qt Core: once a colleague of mine used that as a comment in a very convoluted program
Wol Euler laughs.
Wol Euler: a very erudite warning flag
Qt Core: he was given a convoluted and sometimes poorly written thing to check, his report is quite funny, even if a little (not so passive) passive aggressive
Wol Euler smiles.
--BELL--
Qt Core: sadly a lot of that thing still survive after more than ten years... you know, make it work, we'll make it better and nice later... later... ter ... ter
Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: sadly enough, that happens in architecture too
Wol Euler: "I don't know how to solve this detail, I'll just put it aside for now" and then you stand up to your knees in mud on a building site and somebody is asking you what to do now.
Qt Core: not spending x time doing it right the first time often ends up spending N * x redoing it
Wol Euler: absolutely
Wol Euler: and yet it happens again and again :)
Qt Core: if evere there is a way to redo it
Wol Euler: my boss is like that with e-mail. He'd rather write four hasty mails clarifying something that was misunderstood, than spend an extra two minutes thinking about his first mail and avoid all the mess.
Qt Core: and so he lose a lot of the advantage of a mail in respect of a phone call
Wol Euler: true :)
Wol Euler: and he will happily spend hours on the phone!
Wol Euler: it's about writing
Qt Core: even just a chat like this one gives you fractions of a seconds between the last character and the enter key :-)
Wol Euler smiles.
Qt Core: i should go starting whatever i'd like to eat today
Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: and Ihave laundry to do and a nap to take
Wol Euler: enjoy the day, dear Qt
Qt Core: have fun,. mostly with the nap i think
Wol Euler smiles.
Wol Euler: the laundry is no burden. I put it int he machine, the machine runs.
Qt Core: bye
Wol Euler: bye!
