Riddle Sideways: Welcome Leaping Adams
Adams Rubble: Hello Riddle :)
Adams Rubble: good morning to you :)
Riddle Sideways: and a good morning to you.
Riddle Sideways: have you had one already today?
Adams Rubble: pretty good but we are having a bout with humidity
Riddle Sideways: muggy-ness
Riddle Sideways: funny phrase
Adams Rubble: :)
Riddle Sideways: was reading the 99 day stuff of today and yesterday
Riddle Sideways: a very odd idea that it might have material for some topics for today
Riddle Sideways: a novel approach to a session IKR
Adams Rubble: I have been skimming through it regularly but not connecting too much
Adams Rubble: what do you suggest?
Riddle Sideways: getting caught up in several Meta-Phors
Adams Rubble: I was thinking it was like a PaB session :)
Riddle Sideways: but, have not looked up Phor yet
Riddle Sideways: oh yes
Riddle Sideways: there is one thread re: digging wells
Adams Rubble: Phor is what Philadelphia golfers say
Riddle Sideways: being compared to finding teachers and paths
Riddle Sideways: ㋡ laughs as saying out loud
Riddle Sideways: +phor
Adams Rubble sings "Teach your Buddhists well...."
Riddle Sideways: nice song
Adams Rubble: I am afraid you got the silly Rubble today
Riddle Sideways: very good
Adams Rubble: heat meltdown
Riddle Sideways: wilt
Riddle Sideways: one comment about the well digging might be more understandable by monotheiastic religions
Adams Rubble: It was interesting what Alma had to say about being a plualist
Riddle Sideways: yes
Adams Rubble: pluralist
Riddle Sideways: that too
Adams Rubble: Pema used to talk about tools in a toolbox
Adams Rubble: my granfather always talked having the right tool for the job
Riddle Sideways: a good song too
Riddle Sideways: yes, laying in bed planning the day this morning. realizing the right tool for today's job is lost someplace
Riddle Sideways: needed it 2 weeks ago and could not find.
Adams Rubble: ohhh
Riddle Sideways: might have to go buy another
Riddle Sideways: then it will appear
Adams Rubble: yes
Adams Rubble: it is a law of some sort
Riddle Sideways: yes, a law that does not even have to be written
--BELL--
Adams Rubble: NOR FOUND IN rOMANS
Adams Rubble: WHOOPS
Riddle Sideways: giggles
Riddle Sideways: a character in the current lite popcorn read goes on a rampage about people who use "lol"
Riddle Sideways: and not worth her time if they can't spell out their emothions
Adams Rubble: I don't know why people get upset about someone saying lots of luck
Riddle Sideways: howdee friend
Riddle Sideways: :)))))
Adams Rubble: hello Storm :)
Storm Nordwind: Good morning friends :)
Riddle Sideways: really like the silly Adams visiting today
Storm Nordwind perks up :)
Riddle Sideways: high humidity has wilted Adams
Storm Nordwind: hehe!
Riddle Sideways: down to comical retorts
Riddle Sideways: the other here was actually trying to turn toward some topics
Riddle Sideways: like digger well(s)
Storm Nordwind: An Australian relation? ;)
Riddle Sideways: or looking in many places for the proper tool
Riddle Sideways: then there was the reading of a Storm 99 yesterday
Riddle Sideways: driving in street view
Riddle Sideways: to all the old haunts
Storm Nordwind: Oh yes
Storm Nordwind: Odd
Riddle Sideways: and so many thoughts about the Odd-ness
Riddle Sideways: possible connections
Storm Nordwind would love to hear them
Riddle Sideways: having done some of those drive-thru the old neighborhoods
Riddle Sideways: wondering what would be found
Riddle Sideways: what if the same ol place was not there
Riddle Sideways: one is very blurry
Storm Nordwind has a realization, but please go on
Riddle Sideways: so waiting for the Google car to drive past again with better optics
Storm Nordwind chuckles
Riddle Sideways: another place once building a house on that land
Riddle Sideways: is now almost like it was dreamed
Storm Nordwind: Like it was Second Life
Riddle Sideways: somebody did build a house there
Riddle Sideways: yes! the street view controls are like the SL controls
Riddle Sideways: with those slow screen refreshs at sim crossing
Adams Rubble: :)
Riddle Sideways: now, back to you part in a fire
Riddle Sideways: you take it very personal
Riddle Sideways: or not
Riddle Sideways: either your knowing it is time to say goodbye
Adams Rubble: a neighborhood is people as well as structures
Storm Nordwind: Synchronicity, if it exists, is only personal.
Adams Rubble: In the case of my first home, also factories that are gone or sitting empty in decay
Adams Rubble: I have an urge to go back but.....
Storm Nordwind nods
Riddle Sideways: "you can never go home" comes to mind
Riddle Sideways: as a stupid saying
Adams Rubble: You can in your drerams :)
Adams Rubble: dreams
Riddle Sideways: and in the archived street view files
--BELL--
Adams Rubble: I've been back on Google, peeking into back yards, etc etc
Storm Nordwind ponders the slip of DRAM, dynamic memory, that forgets when the power eventually disappears.
Adams Rubble: still no trees on the street after all these years
Riddle Sideways: did some of that pondering a month ago
Riddle Sideways: *DRAM - SDram
Adams Rubble: want to go back and say hey people life here would be better with some trees
Storm Nordwind: hehe!
Riddle Sideways: sometimes ya just need to go slap some people, awake
Storm Nordwind: They did that Kuala Lumpur
Storm Nordwind: They cleared the jungle, built a city with no trees
Storm Nordwind: And didn't like it
Storm Nordwind: All the buildings were too close together for trees
Storm Nordwind: So one day in a fit of enlightenment...
Storm Nordwind: They made a momentous decision
Riddle Sideways: did they tear the city down and plant the trees?
Storm Nordwind: They decided to plant the trees.
Adams Rubble: :)
Storm Nordwind: And they took out group insurance
Riddle Sideways: whoops, stepped in your story
Storm Nordwind: To cover the cost of all the buildings that would be damaged with tree roots
Storm Nordwind: And now it is beautiful
Adams Rubble: people need trees
Storm Nordwind: You can walk easily between places, but it is sheltered and lush
Storm Nordwind: .
Storm Nordwind: And yes the sidewalks and roads are warped in places
Storm Nordwind: But it was worth it all
Adams Rubble: they must have some powerful tree roots in that city
Storm Nordwind: The palms have shallow but very powerful roots
Storm Nordwind: So they build the sidewalks with a special technique
Adams Rubble: :)
Storm Nordwind: Like a maze of intersecting lozenges
Storm Nordwind: which rise and fall as the roots move gradually beneath them
Storm Nordwind: Just got to watch you don't trip!
Riddle Sideways: Palms are so neat a tree
Riddle Sideways: drifting off on the way Palms decide where to grow and how
Riddle Sideways: and the little old guy that told of them
Riddle Sideways: he had been a professor
Riddle Sideways: of Palm trees
Adams Rubble thinks of how she plants so many palms in SL but never sees them in RL
Riddle Sideways: was retired and worked a few hours at our research farm
Riddle Sideways: rode to work with him
Riddle Sideways: he planted a coconut
Riddle Sideways: and it decided to grow into a tree 10 feet away
Riddle Sideways: went out of its prepared bed
Riddle Sideways: under a pathway
Riddle Sideways: to another (appearently) better bed
Riddle Sideways: one of those 'guys' nobody would spend time with
Riddle Sideways: who became the most interesting
Storm Nordwind would love to hear his stories if he ever came to Second Life
Riddle Sideways: whoops, stepped on your story
Riddle Sideways: bet, his has to be long dead
Adams Rubble: trees are smarter than we think :)
Riddle Sideways: that was 40 years ago
Riddle Sideways: and he drove a 30 year old car at that point
Storm Nordwind: or maybe they are demonstrating independence, like a willful teenager? ;)
Riddle Sideways: and drove so slowly
Riddle Sideways: yes
Riddle Sideways: or they 'know' where to be
Storm Nordwind recalls that he drives a 23 year old car
Adams Rubble: :)
Adams Rubble drives a 20 year old car
Storm Nordwind: :)
Adams Rubble: did not know it was so new :)
Riddle Sideways: 18 yr old car
--BELL--
Adams Rubble: they don;t make them like they used to
Adams Rubble: back in the 50s
Riddle Sideways: when was the file?
Riddle Sideways: Fire
Storm Nordwind: In Glasgow? Last weekend.
Riddle Sideways: what time.
Riddle Sideways: compared to your visits
Riddle Sideways: sorry, grammmicals are
Storm Nordwind: Almost at the same time or very slightly after
Riddle Sideways: small detail that small mind wanted to know
Storm Nordwind: Hard to say. I don't log my activities in RL. There's no time stamp to the left of my words. :)
Riddle Sideways: a detail that would step on your story to one side or the other
Riddle Sideways: a story that stands very well without being stepped on
Storm Nordwind: It started at 4:20pm MDT
Adams Rubble: so sad about the MacIntosh bldg
Storm Nordwind: You would have loved to visit Adams
Adams Rubble: yes
Riddle Sideways: went off wondering
Adams Rubble: hard to believe it happened again
Riddle Sideways: found virtual tour: http://www.panoramicglasgow.co.uk/gl...rt-School.html
Riddle Sideways: not the same, but
Riddle Sideways: an archeved street view type thing
Riddle Sideways: sad
Storm Nordwind: Perhaps Clutha (a local goddess, pronounced Cloo-tha) needs placating somehow.
Storm Nordwind: They named the River Clyde after her.
Riddle Sideways: having trouble finding what would placate her
Riddle Sideways: maybe dancing
Storm Nordwind: Oh there's plenty of that. Glasgow has become a wonderful creative center.
--BELL--
Storm Nordwind: But the old industries on the Clyde have gone. It was once a premier shipbuilding city.
Riddle Sideways: more abandoned factory, Adams
Riddle Sideways: so far, this SL day has been a barage of distractions, attention want-ers. pop-ups, updates, street noises, avi zooming through the other sim
Storm Nordwind: There's another sim? ;)
Adams Rubble: sim sim soom soom. my little heart goes boom...
Storm Nordwind giggles
Riddle Sideways: like digging many shallow wells. should go back and deepen that one. should start a new one.
Riddle Sideways: which one has the shovel?
Adams Rubble: I apologize for my shallowness today
Adams Rubble: I must go. Gave a great day :)
Storm Nordwind: Never apologize! Only be. :)
Riddle Sideways: happy wilting
Riddle Sideways: and have a great day
Adams Rubble: bye for now :)
Storm Nordwind waves
Riddle Sideways: bye
Storm Nordwind: Sometimes you do have to dig many shallow wells. To discover which, if any, need further digging and developing.
Riddle Sideways: yes, was thinking that
Riddle Sideways: re: Alma's comment
Riddle Sideways: what if the one deep dig is not the right place
Storm Nordwind: Exactly. I like plans that can be changed. I like flexibility. Was once upbraided for that on a training course!
Riddle Sideways: hmmm, must train people to make a Plan and stick to it!!!!
Storm Nordwind: yeah right
Storm Nordwind: And that was the problem on the course
Riddle Sideways: when ALL software projects go off plan
Storm Nordwind: We were supposed to set a goal, make a plan to get to it, and negotiate our ways to the goal.
Riddle Sideways: well, at least train them that way
Storm Nordwind: But I found very quickly I'd set the wrong goal at the outset, so I set a new one and went toward that
Storm Nordwind: I trampled over the instructor's intention. But I did the work twice, so they ought to have been pleased ;)
Storm Nordwind: Funny the things you remember, more than 30 years on
Riddle Sideways: yes
Riddle Sideways: funny
Riddle Sideways: also funny the things not remembered
Storm Nordwind: Some come back, at unexpected time.
Riddle Sideways: can't remember that old Palm professor's name, but ya'know that is not the point
Storm Nordwind: Funny the things that are not expressed. And then the non-expression is regretted.
Riddle Sideways: remembering the upbraids
--BELL--
Riddle Sideways: remembering all the 'should have done's
Storm Nordwind: I found that attempting to follow 'The Path of Least Regret' is sometimes the best way.
Riddle Sideways: a very hard path to find and to follow, but probably the most pleasant later
Riddle Sideways: remembering those times that are not regretted
Storm Nordwind: I have no excuse. I have a mind that can run alternative mental simulations and find the results. I guess I should use that talent more.
Riddle Sideways: that is good
Riddle Sideways: and yes, should be used more
Riddle Sideways: or read the messages sent back by your future self on the less regretful way you should have
Storm Nordwind nods
Storm Nordwind: Perhaps those are the messages I find on my bedside notepad in the morning. This morning I had 6 pages worth, instead of the normal one! (That was why I was late today, transcribing)
Riddle Sideways: wow
Riddle Sideways: sleep writing from your future self
Riddle Sideways: notes from beyond
Riddle Sideways: notes from the incoherent
Storm Nordwind: Maybe it's like a shaking a drunk collapsed on the ground, that mutters incoherent messages but an occasional gem! ;)
Riddle Sideways: yes, was thinking that
Storm Nordwind: Gotta parse them all :)
Storm Nordwind: To find the gems
Riddle Sideways: much wine last night, lay down with book, read an amazing story
Riddle Sideways: that was not the pages this morning
Riddle Sideways: it made so many good points
Riddle Sideways: should have written the 6 pages like you did
Storm Nordwind: It has become a habit to keep the notepad there, with a sharpened pencil.
Storm Nordwind: And keep a magnifying glass handy for the morning deciphering!
Riddle Sideways: excellient
Storm Nordwind: And if it's blank, that's fine too.
Riddle Sideways: the recorder was in the charger last night - btw
--BELL--
Riddle Sideways: sooo, were there gems in the pages?
Storm Nordwind: Enough to write a poem perhaps. As is often the case. But some more self-reflection than usual. The illumination of a few dead ends that make the right road easier to choose.
Storm Nordwind: Well (no pun intended!) my friend, I should get on with the day - and have breakfast too. Thank you for your inspiring hosting :)
Riddle Sideways: the archaeologist finds something, it might be a bone, puts it in the collection waiting for other nearby or related or a clue or a dream or syncronicity
Storm Nordwind: :)
Riddle Sideways: Oh! one completely different thing... used the milk labeling yesterday
Riddle Sideways: and worked great
Storm Nordwind: YAY!
Riddle Sideways: far better then any method
Storm Nordwind: Just don't use skimmed!
Riddle Sideways: ha, that become last night's chat over the opened beer
Storm Nordwind: haha!
Riddle Sideways: it was 1%
Storm Nordwind: I guess that's enough. I used 4%
Riddle Sideways: further testing needed, ::::)))))))
Storm Nordwind: Always
Storm Nordwind: Beer requires perfectionism
Storm Nordwind: And iteration
Riddle Sideways: yesssss
Riddle Sideways: ok, back to whatever
Storm Nordwind: Bye my friend :)
Riddle Sideways: have your best breakfast
Storm Nordwind smiles
