The guardian at this meeting was Pema Pera and the comments are his.

This morning, we had scheduled a meeting for the guardians to get together, as many as could find the time, to talk with each other about their role, and about the way the Play as Being initiative can grow further. Maxine was there already, when I arrived. While it was 7 am SL time, for me it was 11 pm in Tokyo, and I was getting a bit sleepy. This probably explains why my greeting to Maxine was somewhere in between my native Dutch “morgen” and the English version. Maxine gracefully greeted me back in the same way.

    Pema Pera: Morgin, Maxine!
    Maxine Walden: hi, Pema
    Maxine Walden: morgin
Maxine Walden: waiting for things to settle into cushions
Pema Pera: yes, it took me a while too
Maxine Walden: you seem to have the last sphere-cusion to settle
Pema Pera: yes, indeed! That is why I was waiting
Maxine Walden: think Storm is nearly here
    Maxine Walden: hi, Storm
    Pema Pera: Hi there, Storm!
    Storm Nordwind: Hi guys
Storm Nordwind: Balloons take a gentle time to arrive
    Pema Pera: Haha!
Pema Pera: Yes, especially when they have to come from three different continents . . . .
    Storm Nordwind: True
Maxine Walden: nice to see you Storm
    Storm Nordwind: And you Maxine
    Storm Nordwind: Hi genesis
    Maxine Walden: hello genesis
    genesis Zhangsun: Hi Storm
    Pema Pera: Hi Genesis!
    genesis Zhangsun: Hi Pema!
    genesis Zhangsun: Hi Maxine!
genesis Zhangsun: I may not be able to stay for long but I wanted to come for as long as I could
Pema Pera: thanks for joining us, Gen!
    genesis Zhangsun: Sure
Pema Pera: it is tricky to get such a large group together at one time
Pema Pera: we’ll do the best we can!

Storm mentioned his most recent landscaping. I have been continuously surprised at the speed in which he has been throwing together hills and rivers and boulders and other ways to change the Magoja sim into the beginnings of a forest.

Storm Nordwind: Thank you for getting up so early Maxine :)
Maxine Walden: I am glad to come today
Storm Nordwind: prior to arriving today I have been landscaping in the Magoja 1/2 sim
    Maxine Walden: oh?
Storm Nordwind: I have used a technique on all the plots of land we have.
    Pema Pera: Hi Stim!
    genesis Zhangsun: Hey Stim!
    Pema Pera: Hi Solo!
Maxine Walden: here comes Stim, hi Stim
Stim Morane: Hi Pema and all of you!
Pema Pera: Glad to hear that Storm, thanks a lot!
Storm Nordwind: That is to revert it to natural height and contours and then to slightly smooth it
    Dakini Rhode: hi!
    Pema Pera: Hi Dakini!
Storm Nordwind: But I have started to sculpt Magoja
Maxine Walden: And Solo and Dakini, hi guys
    Storm Nordwind: Hi Dakini
    Solobill Laville: hi
Storm Nordwind: And I have installed a falls and plotted the outline of a river
    Maxine Walden: Wow
Storm Nordwind: Have to do these before the forest comes!
    Caledonia Heron: morning
genesis Zhangsun: Hi Caledonia nice wings
    Maxine Walden: Hi, Cal
    Dakini Rhode: hi Cal
    Caledonia Heron: :) ty
    Caledonia Heron: a gift

At that moment SL frooze for me, and after a I while I decided to just go out and back in again.

Pema Pera: sorry, my internet connection crashed
    Maxine Walden: thought as much
Storm Nordwind: Your bug is stuck in the falls and thrashing about Dakini
Pema Pera: there are many things to discuss; did you start already ?
Dakini Rhode: oh is that it?
Dakini Rhode: poor baby was turned on its back
Caledonia Heron: we are juggling dates Pema
    Pema Pera: very important!
Pema Pera: The main thing of guardians is to guard — not to Stand Guard ;>)
    Caledonia Heron: lol

We then started a discussion about extending the current group of guardians. In addition, we thought it would be nice to have a mechanism to ask others to stand in for the regular guardians on an ad hoc basis. After a brief discussion, we decided to call that a `host’ role. So a guardian will agree to be present at one designated time a week, while a host will be available to be called upon when necessary (and when that host has no other scheduling conflict).

Solobill Laville: Team, I must leave - head cook for Mother’s Day I fear
    Caledonia Heron: yum
Pema Pera: thanks for joining us, Solo!
    Maxine Walden: yes, sounds wonderful
    Solobill Laville: omelettes!
    Dakini Rhode: :-)
    Solobill Laville: until next time
    Stim Morane: Bye, Solo!
    Maxine Walden: bye, Solo
Dakini Rhode: i’m cooking too -can’t stay long
Caledonia Heron: I’m being cooked for….smells good :)
Maxine Walden: lovely day, Mother’s Day
Caledonia Heron: yes, a foodie paradise :)
Dakini Rhode: we’re combining several celebrations in one day
    Stim Morane: yes
Dakini Rhode: so no getting out of cooking

After some more discussions about organizatorial matters, it was time to wrap up.

    Pema Pera: two points
Pema Pera: 1) okay to make this weekly? 7 am Sundays? Best not to introduce more than 4 meetings a day ;>)
Pema Pera: I know it is not ideal for some of you
Caledonia Heron: ok, I will come when I have internet
Pema Pera: but if you can’t come, please email me your concerns
Stim Morane: I could do it except for Sundays where there’s a retreat
Pema Pera: 2) we need to start thinking about designing
    Pema Pera: designing many things:
    Pema Pera: The Be-IT Bar
    Caledonia Heron: :)
    Caledonia Heron: with BE-er
Pema Pera: further furnishing the Hall of Appearance
    Pema Pera: he yes
Pema Pera: and of course the huge Forest project
    Dakini Rhode: the kalachakra garden
    Pema Pera: with retreat huts
    Pema Pera: you name it
    Pema Pera: yes
Storm Nordwind: I’m working on the forest right now. Jobe is suggesting a few designs for logo too
Dakini Rhode: i’m planning the kalachakra garden
Dakini Rhode: these things will take time, Pema
Caledonia Heron: yes Dakini, time to gel
Dakini Rhode: i think they will occur organically
    Pema Pera: sure
    Caledonia Heron: agreed
    Caledonia Heron: more nutritious
Pema Pera: but various people have told me: a bar, great, how will you do that, can I help?
Pema Pera: So it would be good to have at least a person as a contact point
Dakini Rhode: I think the bar is yours, Pema
    Pema Pera: fine
Dakini Rhode: i’m not seeing the bar
Dakini Rhode: i like it, it just hasn’t come to me
Storm Nordwind: I could possible get Jobe to help. Providing you have a vision of style
genesis Zhangsun: I could help coordinate for the bar project?
Pema Pera: thanks, Gen, that would help a lot!
Dakini Rhode: so far, what ive created here, I “saw” here before I made it
Dakini Rhode: imagined what it would look like
    Dakini Rhode: sort of organically

We played around with some different ideas.

Caledonia Heron: maybe the bar is an open air circle with a serving station within the forest
    Dakini Rhode: ooh
Caledonia Heron: just a location, not a building per se
Maxine Walden: very nice process to see it first in your mind
Caledonia Heron: kind of a sherwood forest grog place
Pema Pera: Storm and I had various rounds of conversations already about an English Tudor style bar — but of course we can reconsider
    Dakini Rhode: yes, that’s fine
Storm Nordwind: Jobe and I have a kind of cottage that would fit the bill
    Dakini Rhode: there ya go!
Storm Nordwind: It would look good in a forest
Maxine Walden: sort of a forest pub?
Dakini Rhode: hmmm but i see a kalachakra garden near there, too
Caledonia Heron: yes, with outdoor seating please
    Storm Nordwind: No problem
    Caledonia Heron: yes, leading to/from….
Dakini Rhode: in the center of the sim
Pema Pera: I like organic — in the case where Dakini was building her own tea house and Storm is starting landscaping — but when we get more and more people, we may need a bit of coordination, or at the very least information exchange of ideas . . . .
Dakini Rhode: with 8 spokes coming from the center
Dakini Rhode: 8 paths, so to speak
Pema Pera: maybe this will be the topic for our meeting a week from now then?
Caledonia Heron: agreed Pema, you can’t have people building on top of each other or discontinuity between builds, imo
Dakini Rhode: sort of the center of the tentacles which are branching out
Storm Nordwind: Do you mean in Rieul or Magoja Dakini?
    Dakini Rhode: in Rieul
Dakini Rhode: in the center of Rieul

By this time the meeting started to dissolve.

genesis Zhangsun: well i must be going
Dakini Rhode: where Storm put the pole
    Pema Pera: by Gen!
Caledonia Heron: we should start at the hub and move outward with an overall plan
    Stim Morane: Bye, Gen!
    Caledonia Heron: bye :)
    Storm Nordwind: Bye Gen
Dakini Rhode: it could be somewhere else, if this doesn’t seem right
    genesis Zhangsun: Bye all!
    genesis Zhangsun: Bye Stim!
Pema Pera: I can see pros and cons of Rieul and of Magoja
Dakini Rhode: the kalachakra is a powerful tantric symbol
Dakini Rhode: a symbol of peace
Pema Pera: Starting in Rieul would leave many of the eight spokes very short
Dakini Rhode: it’s just a garden
Caledonia Heron: hmm, need to review map again
    Caledonia Heron: ok
    Dakini Rhode: 1024 square
Storm Nordwind: Although it would not be in sim centre there
Storm Nordwind: In he centre of the L
Pema Pera: that could be in Rieul for sure

Timaeus stopped by briefly, but we were close to wrapping up.

    Timaeus Kaul: hello all
    Caledonia Heron: hi Tim :)
    Pema Pera: Hi TIm!
    Stim Morane: Hi Tiim!
    Maxine Walden: hi Tim
Caledonia Heron: have a seat to Gen’s left Tim :)
Dakini Rhode: i need to be going
Maxine Walden: me to, need to go
Pema Pera: okay, bye everyone, thanks for joining us!
Pema Pera: Next time we will try to keep it shorter
    Caledonia Heron: see ya kids
    Storm Nordwind: Bye Cal!
    Pema Pera: c u Cal!
    Pema Pera: Sorry Tim
Timaeus Kaul: No worries, see ya’ll soon
