                   --BELL--
    Riddle Sideways: Hi Bleu
    Riddle Sideways: there got it
    Bleu Oleander: :)
    Bleu Oleander: how r u?
Riddle Sideways: needed to stand to click the claim
    Riddle Sideways: let's see
    Riddle Sideways: pretty good
    Riddle Sideways: how r u?
    Bleu Oleander: great ... busy
Bleu Oleander: supposed to get some rain today
Riddle Sideways: you did speedy quick fixes on pavillion
Riddle Sideways: rain would be good
Bleu Oleander: well it will change soon
Bleu Oleander: Xiri's will be installed on monday
Riddle Sideways: hope you didn't feel beat up over the review session
Bleu Oleander: easy to fix and tried to incorporate many of the suggestions
    Bleu Oleander: not at all
    Bleu Oleander: was fun
Bleu Oleander: btw did you see the link I shared on the wiki re onion domes?
    Bleu Oleander: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Onion_dome
Riddle Sideways: ty, did not see it before
Bleu Oleander: seems they symbolize candles :)
Bleu Oleander: I thought a nice metaphor for PaB
    Riddle Sideways: ah!
Bleu Oleander: so I could say "I knew that" ha ha!
Riddle Sideways: I could not say that :(
Riddle Sideways: just an ignorant one
Riddle Sideways: so much to learn
    Bleu Oleander: indeed!

Bleu Oleander: so I have a subject if you want to discuss?
    Riddle Sideways: please
    Bleu Oleander: "character"

    Riddle Sideways: big topic
Bleu Oleander: admittedly a tough one
    Bleu Oleander: yes
Bleu Oleander: but very hard to define ... its one of those words that people think they know what it means until you ask them :)
Bleu Oleander: I'm reading David Brooks new book "Road to Character" based on recommendation of friend
Bleu Oleander: not sure what to think about it ... so was needing your thoughts
Riddle Sideways: /listens because is not up to speed
Bleu Oleander: well ... one could ask is character something one has?
    Bleu Oleander: a trait?
Bleu Oleander: a collection of ideas?
Riddle Sideways: "the mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual."
    Bleu Oleander: ethics?
Riddle Sideways: so Google says the dictionary says
Bleu Oleander: so sounds subjective and yet people speak about it as objective?
    Riddle Sideways: yep
Bleu Oleander: when one says "improve your character" what does that mean? be more like me? lol
    Riddle Sideways: almost certainly. lol
Riddle Sideways: One can have Character, yet another will not see it as it is
    Bleu Oleander: exactly
                   --BELL--
Bleu Oleander: so how can one be "on the road to character"?
Riddle Sideways: A girl is of good character at a pool party when a police assume she is of another character quality
Riddle Sideways: are ALL police of a certain character just because they all wear a badge?
Riddle Sideways: would seem a young child could be "on the road to character"
Riddle Sideways: however, even the very young have their own character
Bleu Oleander: so building a world view or a belief system for ones self?
    Bleu Oleander: yes
Bleu Oleander: Brooks characterizes it a "resume virtues vs eulogy virtues
Bleu Oleander: the ones you list on your resume vs the "deeper" ones
Riddle Sideways: at the dojo we can practice long and hard to sharpen the tools that bend existing character
Bleu Oleander: the ones that get mentioned in eulogies
Riddle Sideways: how does another 'know' your character?
    Bleu Oleander: external vs internal
    Riddle Sideways: ok
Bleu Oleander: another might judge your character by observing your behavior?
Riddle Sideways: your mother sees you differently and always would
    Bleu Oleander: yes
Bleu Oleander: so their past experience and relationship to you influence how they see your character?
    Riddle Sideways: think so
Bleu Oleander: he also says that one may ask how things are vs one who asks why things exist?
Riddle Sideways: your mother would be bad at writing your eulogy
Bleu Oleander: or very good lol
    Riddle Sideways: how things are
Bleu Oleander: so why do some people appear more moral than others? it is subjective to some extent but also how they comply with general cultural ethics?
Riddle Sideways: some friends swear every few words
Riddle Sideways: others never swear (out loud) :)
Bleu Oleander: what does it mean to swear really?
Bleu Oleander: it too is cultural?

Darn phone call interruptions of great talks

    Riddle Sideways: on phone
    Bleu Oleander: kk
                   --BELL--
Riddle Sideways: back, but am in big trouble
    Bleu Oleander: oh oh
Bleu Oleander: not too big I hope
Riddle Sideways: without knowing it apparently deleted somebody elses directory of files Friday
Bleu Oleander: oh my ... you are in big trouble
Riddle Sideways: company president is not happy
    Bleu Oleander: uh oh
Riddle Sideways: files were not backed up
Bleu Oleander: just hide out here today lol
Riddle Sideways: might have much more time for SL
    Bleu Oleander: lol
Riddle Sideways: and bunny just stepped onto Cat's land
Riddle Sideways: was not supposed to do that
Bleu Oleander: your world is falling apart
Bleu Oleander: will this affect your "character"?
Riddle Sideways: there is a setting that it was supposed to still on plot
    Riddle Sideways: yep
Riddle Sideways: character just got smaller and smaller
Bleu Oleander: character ... here today, gone tomorrow
Bleu Oleander: ok I must get going
    Riddle Sideways: yep
Bleu Oleander: hope your troubles go away soon
    Riddle Sideways: ok
Bleu Oleander: and you have a nice day
    Riddle Sideways: thanks
    Bleu Oleander: take care
    Riddle Sideways: you too
