Bruce Mowbray: The northern coast wasn't nearly so fortunate, though.

Bruce Mowbray: I should comprehend at some point that I simply do not multi-task well.
Bruce Mowbray: Haiti --- so sad.
Eliza Madrigal: It is impossible to multitask well these days, perhaps, too much too fast

Bruce Mowbray: I had a dream about Haiti....

Bruce Mowbray: I dreamed that all of the big companies in Silicon Valley went together and bought up the whole country...

Bruce Mowbray: and rebuilt it.

Eliza Madrigal: Possible to look at a dream like that a few ways. What was the feeling of it?
Bruce Mowbray: Well, it felt like American companies moving to Mexico....
Bruce Mowbray: so that part was rather sour...
Eliza Madrigal: Or China taking over parts of Africa
Bruce Mowbray: but then I saw that the big tech companies were really intent in rebuilding the country...
Bruce Mowbray: and that the Haitians liked the idea.
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Bruce Mowbray: So, they went along with it.
Eliza Madrigal: so even in the dream, contradictions of feeling
Bruce Mowbray nods.
Bruce Mowbray: But it had a happy ending.
Eliza Madrigal: I met an aide worker to Haiti on a plane a few years ago...lovely person but we didn't talk about the work directly
Bruce Mowbray: I think that feeding into the dream were news items about Gates Foundation and Zuckerburg giving money to stop disease....
Bruce Mowbray: Wow.
Bruce Mowbray: I very distinctly remember when the earthquake hit.
Eliza Madrigal: ah, nods! You know, research into malaria also has brought about a lot of medical angles on lupus

Bruce Mowbray: I was traveling to a Buddhist meditation center after having dinner with another meditator,
Bruce Mowbray: and when we both arrived at the zendo, I mentioned to him what I'd just heard on the radio (car).
Bruce Mowbray: and there is now word of cholera,
Eliza Madrigal nods :(
Bruce Mowbray: so maybe the tech Billionaires will come to their aid.
Eliza Madrigal: it was in 2010...and the US just decided to begin deportations again...
Eliza Madrigal: saying that they were mostly recovered

Eliza Madrigal: we have a screwy policy on that
Bruce Mowbray: Indeed.
Eliza Madrigal: so maybe the doors will have to stay open a little while longer now
Bruce Mowbray: Part of Haiti's problem is that it is highly deforested -- unlike adjacent country Dominican Republic.
Eliza Madrigal: so everything slides!
Bruce Mowbray: From space (or aircraft) one can clearly see the demarcation between the two countries because of the deforestation contrast.
