The Guardian for this meeting was Riddle Sideways. The comments are by Riddle Sideways.

Joined by Alma and Faust, a new visitor met at the Gallery yesterday and invited.

Faust Saenz: 's current display-name is "Faust".
    Riddle Sideways: Welcome Faust
Riddle Sideways: nice to see you again
    Faust Saenz: Good morning

Riddle Sideways: got an IM from a usual person, Adams, is not going to be here
    Riddle Sideways: baby sitting grand-daugther
Faust Saenz: That's a good cause!
    Riddle Sideways: yes!
Riddle Sideways: have no grandkids yet, but ready

Riddle Sideways: about this time of day, face cat has to be right in face
    Faust Saenz: lol
Riddle Sideways: so might be slow typing
Faust Saenz: There is a dog running around here but he generally stays away from the face

Riddle Sideways: we record our chats here and post them to our wiki
Riddle Sideways: is that ok with you
    Faust Saenz: oh sure
Riddle Sideways: that your great words
    Riddle Sideways: are saved
    Riddle Sideways: ㋡

Almadi Masala: 's current display-name is "Alma di Masala".
Almadi Masala: hello Riddle and Faust
    Faust Saenz: Hello Alma
Riddle Sideways: Faust, gave you the long intro note card yesterday
    Riddle Sideways: Hi Alma
Riddle Sideways: looking around for any possible topic material
Riddle Sideways: yesterday we will dancing around the new higher energy level of PaB now
Riddle Sideways: thinking it is because Alma joined ㋡
    Almadi Masala: ha!
Riddle Sideways: the numbers, like SL itself, were going down

Almadi Masala: throws my energy into the circle
Riddle Sideways: wow, it is bright in here

Faust Saenz: I love the title.
Faust Saenz: Play as Being seems to get underappreciated

Almadi Masala: it was nice to see so many at the party, most of them I had not met yet
Riddle Sideways: also did not know some of the Art and Theater people at party
                   --BELL--
Riddle Sideways: there was another group named "Ways of Knowing"
Riddle Sideways: which was/is a great title too
Riddle Sideways: that this group split off
    Riddle Sideways: just to explore
Riddle Sideways: a small side topic
Riddle Sideways: and that still goes on

Faust Saenz: You could mix them. Play as a way of knowing :)
Almadi Masala: hmmm .... Being versus Knowing
    Riddle Sideways: yes
Riddle Sideways: there is ever so much of a twist in those words
Riddle Sideways: and the 2 groups did mix a lot
Riddle Sideways: WoK did a lot more Brain stuff
Almadi Masala: knowing and being are intertwined
    Riddle Sideways: yes
Faust Saenz: Maybe a drive to play is a part of our being
Almadi Masala: I think so, and I fear it is often stifled
Almadi Masala: but SL overall seems a very playful place to me
Riddle Sideways: probably why I did more with this group
Faust Saenz: maybe it helps unblock a stifled play drive
    Riddle Sideways: yes it does
Riddle Sideways: too many serious people these days
    Riddle Sideways: well, all days
Riddle Sideways: and the Knowing vs. Being added faith, believes etc.

Riddle Sideways: dreams were in both groups, but more in Play
Riddle Sideways: PaB has the freedom to go flying off into exploring dreams
    Riddle Sideways: by everybody
Almadi Masala: that was what really drew me into PaB
    Almadi Masala: the dream group
Riddle Sideways: yes, the dream group is kicking back in gear after some time off
    Riddle Sideways: Tuesdays at 12:00
    Riddle Sideways: checking
    Riddle Sideways: yes, not Thursdays

Faust Saenz: I have come to see philosophy primarily as a form of playfulness. I see it as an exploration of the possible.
Riddle Sideways: yes, see it as Play too
Riddle Sideways: Play by seemingly serious people
    Faust Saenz: :)
Riddle Sideways: many have so much fun bouncing theories off each other

Faust Saenz: Philosophy, personal experience, and humor are some of my favorite ingredients for conversation.
Riddle Sideways: (btw - like your typing AO, so few good ones)
    Almadi Masala: humor is vital
    Faust Saenz: Thank you
                   --BELL--
Faust Saenz: Aristotle considered wit to be one of the main virtues. I was surprised to stumble across that.
    Riddle Sideways: hmmm, yes
Faust Saenz: and virtue more generally as the surest foundation for friendship

Riddle Sideways: now have the have the image of Aristotle cracking jokes around the circle
Riddle Sideways: somebody writting them down for history
Almadi Masala: I think humor is vital to friendship. laughing together at the same jokes really draws people together
    Almadi Masala: makes a connection
    Riddle Sideways: yes

    Riddle Sideways: found:
Riddle Sideways: Humor is the only test of gravity, and gravity of humor; for a subject which will not bear raillery is suspicious, and a jest which will not bear serious examination is false wit.
    Riddle Sideways: Aristotle
    Faust Saenz: nice find
    Almadi Masala: interesting
Riddle Sideways: switched search engines yesterday and still playing with it

Faust Saenz: One of my friends is working on a paper on Feminism and humor.
Riddle Sideways: Even when the joke is not understood by some, everybody laughs and has a good time together
    Riddle Sideways: good
Faust Saenz: He spoke about it with one of his friends at an event I put on last month RL: Humor and Feminism: Chelsea Richardson and Shane George https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSsSNpmb_0o#t=13m10s
    Faust Saenz: for later
Almadi Masala: there is another side to humor, though, as jokes can be used in an aggressive and hurtful way against those who don't fit into a group
Faust Saenz: His talk does a nice job looking at that line
Riddle Sideways: thanks, will read later.

Faust Saenz: I read a book that looks at humor in the western tradition, Confucianism, Daoism, and Buddhism recently.
Faust Saenz: It seemed that Daoism had the greatest appreciation of it for its own sake
Almadi Masala: I have noticed that the most advanced Buddhist teachers I have encountered seem to have well-developed senses of humor
Riddle Sideways: yes, their laughs are quick, easy and contagious

Riddle Sideways: thinking about it, can see that Taoist would be almost the funniest
Riddle Sideways: ok, closing the tabs that search on "humor about ..."
Riddle Sideways: could be worse then cat vids
    Almadi Masala: lol

Faust Saenz: lol. In Hinduism, the appearance of physical reality is thought to be the play of Brahma, lila.
                   --BELL--

Riddle Sideways: the bell goes off randomly near every 15min. the last sentence before the bell is always a nice exploration
    Riddle Sideways: this one was
    Almadi Masala: yes

Faust Saenz: Thanks. I was wondering if the bell is to be respected
    Riddle Sideways: usually
Riddle Sideways: sometimes the discussion is going on so fast that nobody pauses
Riddle Sideways: then sometimes that is the chance for the quieter people to get something in
Faust Saenz: So its a guideline not a law
Riddle Sideways: and then sometimes the sound is turned down/off and so don't hear the pause
    Faust Saenz: ?
Riddle Sideways: yep, no hard Laws
Almadi Masala: if you type something in the pause interval, you can always claim it was chat lag :)
Riddle Sideways: hope Wol knows that am only joking about the bell
Riddle Sideways: Wol added most of the bell scripting

Faust Saenz: Friendship is another one of my favorite themes to explore. The ideal and the thing itself. Here is the most recent: Friendship’s Dark Side: ‘We Need a Common Enemy’ By Natalie Angier April 16, 2018 https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/16/s...imination.html "The tendency toward homophily, toward flocking together with birds of your inner and outer feather, gives rise to a harmonious sense of belonging and shared purpose, to easy laughter and volumes of subtext mutually, wordlessly, joyfully understood."
Faust Saenz: I have not met Wol yet
Riddle Sideways: thanks. that was written today

Faust Saenz: It seems that friends would say one or more of the following:
Faust Saenz: We enjoy each others' company.
Faust Saenz: We have each others' backs
Faust Saenz: We can confide in each other.
Faust Saenz: We bring out the best in each other.
Faust Saenz: I have talked to many people and those seems to be the most common elements of freindship

Riddle Sideways: and the article is on the Dark side of friendship
Faust Saenz: I am probably overlooking some aspects essential to freindship though. I get suspicious of my theorizing when I think I have it nailed down.
Riddle Sideways: as you should, lol
Riddle Sideways: nailing things down is hard
                   --BELL--
Almadi Masala: I'm not sure friendship could ever be completely captured in a definition
Riddle Sideways: and Friends are Playmates
    Faust Saenz: Agreed
Riddle Sideways: have a friend over for tea
Riddle Sideways: with a little help from me friends

Almadi Masala: I have to be going now
Riddle Sideways: thanks for Being here
Riddle Sideways: need to get today going too
Almadi Masala bows in silent gratitude to friendship and play
Riddle Sideways: this bell is ok to chat through
    Faust Saenz: Thank for hosting
    Faust Saenz: lol
    Riddle Sideways: please come back
Almadi Masala bows to the bell
    Riddle Sideways: meet some others
    Riddle Sideways: bahhhhh bell
    Riddle Sideways: lol
Faust Saenz: I am quick to friend. No worries if that is not your style.
Almadi Masala: thank you both, enjoy the rest of your day
    Faust Saenz: Thank you both
Riddle Sideways: quick to friend also
    Faust Saenz: Yay!
Riddle Sideways: check the board outside for other sessions
Riddle Sideways: wiki has a calendar too
Riddle Sideways: bye and thank you
    Faust Saenz: bye!
